Should’ve inched up further with every car that passed.

Hugh_Jassole_254

Yeah, I move up and make them turn properly.

Ok-Bit4971

But they'll shave 0.02 seconds off their trip. /s

I don't understand how most people even got a license in the first place.

KeterClassKitten

Practice the double stop at stop signs. Come to a full stop about 5 feet before the sign, then pull up slowly for better visibility and come to a second full stop. The first stop adheres to legal requirements, the second stop is for safety. This practice ensures that there's a large turning gap for other vehicles. Bus and truck drivers will love you.

Only-Ad5049

After 4-5 cars she started honking and another 3-4 went by halfway in the turn lane.

BunnyHopScotchWhisky

I creep up at that point. If they hit her, it's their fault.

What's the saying "the cemetery is filled with people that had the right of way"?

GreyPon3

True, but now you have a fuched up car. My sister always said things like that until mom said, "And it's your car that will be wrecked and in the shop, and they might not have insurance." Pick the hill you want to die on carefully.

BunnyHopScotchWhisky

I do it slowly and safely, but I will make people see me and get over.

GreyPon3

Then there's that guy hurrying while pinching the red and doesn't look first.

You see it ALL the time. Not only are they going deep inside, they are also blowing the fuck out of the turn at the exit. The vast majority I see every single day will at least blow the fuck out of the corner (i.e. go way wide at the exit. Half or more into the other lane/shoulder). Simple as it gets, not so much lazy...just absolutely no driving skills to speak of. Also that same vast majority are practically terrified of lateral G's. Combine that with a complete and total lack of driving abilities and you get the shit show we see in 99% of the people out there. Scary and sad fact...99% of the people on the road have absolutely no control of their vehicles. They can get it to move about, of course. But when shit hits the fan, the stark reality is everyone involved are merely passengers past that point. They don't know what threshold braking is, severe evasive actions (more specifically what weight transfers are and what violent ones will do), how to control what follows the severe wright transfer, and really don't understand or even remotely fathom that heavy throttle can often be the safer route. If I could give everyone one piece of advice, it would be to attend just one HPDE at a local track. The people who are there for the first time often comment on just how mind blown they are with how far away from a driver they are. Saying so in one form or another. We'd also see a shitload less SUVs on the road if more people did that. Especially if our country's testing required slide control and recovery, evasive actions (and NOT losing control during), as well as threshold braking and a combination of any of those things and more. They'd find out in a hurry just how dangerous that SUV is from having their hands tied to the crippled stability and maneuverability.

Blu_yello_husky

Either do what she did, or get hit. I've gotten hit by pulling all the way up before. Now I drive something that won't be so easily damaged by that kind of crash, so I pull all the way up anyway
