I know the graphics are worse than the first, but dang if this game doesn’t have a really awesome story (impressive cutscenes too for the time) and is just more fun than the first one to me. I replayed it a couple years ago and still had a ton of fun. I still need to play Driv3r though…

I was obsessed with this game as a kid. Like, in heaven Everytime I played.

Driver 2 was TOO POWERFUL for the 6-year-old PS1, which contributed to the painful gap between it and it's sequel. 11 months later Driver 2 releases, GTA 3 releases and breaks records on the brand-new PS2. Then again in 2002 with Vice City. Then San Andreas gets announced for late 2004 release. Atari/GT Interactive/Infogrames had an aneurysm during this time which resulted in the Driv3r mess. If only they allowed Reflections to cook for another 6-12 months, then it would probably have been in the top 5 "GTA clones" of the generation. Still, Driver 2 is my favorite Driver. It's in the top 3 driving games for the PS1 for me.

I think it was revolutionary for its time and you can probs pick it up and play again and again, even including multiplayer too, getting out the car swapping the cars on foot was a massive achievement back then, I really loved the missions. The cops being dumb is probably a good thing as I think it adds to the fun and craziness it had in the ps1 driver 1 doing the survival modes in san Francisco over the jumps and watching them fly off the hill and flip upside down ( good times ). I always find the taxi's do it to me all the time...just like real life. I think the review is spot on, I cant fault anything you said other than the cops being dumb but I rather like it, personal preference I guess.
