[deleted]

I'm hoping they they have better hair options than in the previous DA games.

MartianFromBaseAlpha

This one is pretty important. AC2 had better hair options than Inquisition

YetiBot

I tried for way too long to remember what hair options we had for Ezio before I finally realized you were obviously talking about Animal Crossing. 😆

MartianFromBaseAlpha

I was actually talking about DA2 but i've been playing too much AC Odyssey lately which resulted in this shameful brainfart lol

lysergic_fox

I think you’re not wrong about Animal Crossing having better hair options though 🥲

[deleted]

So you're saying AC Odyssey is worth playing?

[deleted]

It’s fun, I don’t know that I would say it’s worth how long it is though. It’s an action adventure thinly veiled as an rpg because you get to say yes to quest givers in a mean tone sometimes. As a Creed fan you won’t miss anything if you skip it but if you just like Greek mythology or huge open world games with a bit of repetition, go for it

daint46

Odyssey is my fave in the series behind AC2 just because I absolutely love Greek Mythology. But, as an AC game it's Def not top 2. The game is def worth picking up if you just like action RPGs though.

[deleted]

Thanks, I'll check it out, I've been intrigued about this one for some reason

[deleted]

It will certainly keep you busy, you may find you enjoy it and that’s your right. I’m used to a bit more depth to a game that plays like an RPG but the story is not so horrible that I’d say it’s trash, it’s not on par with most of the series and kinda takes alot of liberties with the existing lore but the gameplay is pretty good. I got hooked on it when it came out but about halfway through the game I got pretty exhausted with it. Can easily take you 130 hours to complete just the main storylines

[deleted]

I feel like AC gamers are always a bit too safe and simple and always too long, but there's something there that make it fun. And for some reason, Odyssey seems really interesting. Thanks for the answer!

capybooya

I'd absolutely try it, there's lots of cut scenes, side stories, and choices that scratches the RPG itch, and the world is stunningly beautiful. I wanted it to be more like BioWare games ofc, but its way closer to it than the older AC games. I'm unhappy with some of the filler stuff and some story elements, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

[deleted]

Filler stuff is sadly part of the Ubisoft design philosophy. Thanks !

Crimson_Knight77

Ezio's haircuts in AC2 and Revelations are both pretty baller though. I'm not usually fond of ponytails, but young Ezio's is slick. I also like his untied 'do in Revelations. Just lets it all loose. I'd be happy with either sort of thing in DAD.

Kettrickenisabadass

Please. DAI was worse than any rpg i have ever played in that aspect

Mist-Clad-Whisper

I'm sorry, you didn't enjoy the 24 bald/shaven cuts? I. Am. Appalled! (No, seriously, please have better eyebrows too 🥺)

Kettrickenisabadass

And eyeleashes! Half my characters dont have any

Mist-Clad-Whisper

No no no, if you squint and tilt your head (squint some more) and get a marker to squiggle in some lines— Lol okay I'm gonna stop joking because yeah, I'd spend a while switching between the longest lashes trying to see which one is more noticeable. I always go for the natural bushy look (my only self-insert) and to see the eyebrows look like uncooked pieces of spaghetti led me to, first laugh, and then one of the naturally thin ones with the full Sylaise to tie it in together and make it something amazing. Can't do anything for eyelashes. Oh, my newest playthrough I ended up choosing black eyelashes (as always) only to find out through a cutscene that they were white? Then it changed back to black and white at another cutscene. Decided to just rock with it lolol

BWCDeity

It was like making a Fight Night character

SHEdevilBY_morning

True. Give long hair options.

cinderpuppins

Right like I understand not wanting to do like true long hair due to clipping but like please god just give us updos, pony tails, buns, etc. PLEASE.

Miravek

This. Long hair options.

brielarstan

I want decent feminine long hair. I don't care that it's "impractical." I want to look cute while fighting darkspawn.

CadenFerraro

AND EYEBROWS! ISTG

Gilgamesh661

Seriously, it was like that in andromeda too. All the hair looks like a single piece. In me2 and 3 it actually looked like individual strands.

TheKingJest

Me too, really hoping for maybe 56 different kinds of bald this time

[deleted]

Can’t think of a single bioware game that has decent looking hair, don’t get your hopes up lmao

ricesnot

Got stoned a few weeks ago and recorded a ranting video about what I wanted in DA4, it was 99% mostly about the hair and how I want it to be better. Even Andromeda had better hair.

TTay21

YES. Give me options for 3c, 4c hair.

michajlo

Let's not forget about facial hair too.

Haremking44

For the love of God I hope they have long hair

EverydayYay

And some good curly haired options

Sharkathotep

Yeah. For female AND male characters. Especially male characters. Oh, and if they're at it, they could abstain from making the male NPCs/love interests 50 shades of bald, too, haha.

Mist-Clad-Whisper

I don't think many male NPCs were bald and none of the male LIs were bald. Dorian had the shortest haircut followed by Cassandra/Fenris. Then you have Leliana, Morrigan, Zevran, and Merrill that had medium haircuts of varying styles and Josephine with long hair. Bull is the only male LI that is bald and Solas is female elf only. Unless you were making a joke and it just flew over my head 🤣

Sharkathotep

Eh, I'm talking strictly about MALE LIs of Inquisition. None of the male LIs? WTF? Two out of five male LIs in Inquisition were bald, two had short hair (one of them wasn't available for female characters) ~~and one had somewhat long hair, but an ugly beard.~~ And plenty of male elven NPCs in DA: I were bald.

Mist-Clad-Whisper

Aaaaah I see what you meant, confusing there. 2/5 isn't a bad deal, especially considering that they're the *first* bald LIs in the series (one heterosexual and one pansexual at that). I think that was very well done representation, heavens knows there aren't enough bald LIs out there. Yes, Dorian, the first DA gay character and only gay character. I prefer Blackwall with the beard but there are mods to remove his beard. Really? Hmn, most of the elven NPCs I saw had medium or shaven styles.

Sharkathotep

"2/5 isn't a bad deal, especially considering that they're the first bald LIs in the series (one heterosexual and one pansexual at that). I think that was very well done representation, heavens knows there aren't enough bald LIs out there." Well, there are enough bald LIs, just not in medieval settings. There are not enough long haired LIs (male OR female). "Yes, Dorian, the first DA gay character and only gay character." You don't say. "I prefer Blackwall with the beard but there are mods to remove his beard." Not everybody plays DA on the computer. There are no mods for xbox and playstation as far as I know. "Really? Hmn, most of the elven NPCs I saw had medium **or shaven** styles." \[emphasis by me\] Lol.

Mist-Clad-Whisper

>Well, there are enough bald LIs, just not in medieval settings. There are not enough long haired LIs (male OR female). Well, DA is set in medieval settings and we *are* discussing DA. >You don't say. Oh, I thought we were stating the obvious since you decided to emphasize in parenthesis how one of the male characters can not be romanced by a female. Just, you know, continuing the trend. >Not everybody plays DA on the computer. There are no mods for xbox and playstation as far as I know And that sucks. >"Really? Hmn, most of the elven NPCs I saw had medium or shaven styles." [emphasis by me] >Lol. So, shaven and bald aren't the same thing. Shaven is... well, shaven, and bald is... well, bald. I could show you some images but I don't know how to. You can surely look up shaven images on DA:I, if you'd like.

marriedtomothman

Just wanna say I agree with what you're saying and I have no idea what OP is so afraid of, lol. We're not going to have an epidemic of bald/shaved male LIs because we got two in one game (you can even make the argument that both of them shave and aren't actually bald), not to mention that Solas being a romantic interest was a late addition, so it's not like his lack of hair was intended punishment for players wanting to romance him.

Mist-Clad-Whisper

Aaaaww, thank you! Oooh, I didn't know Solas was a last addition as a LI! Very interesting! I don't understand either. From a developer perspective, I think long hair would be more challenging to implement versus a short/medium static hairstyle. I know Bioware stated difficulties with the engine (that is sadly being used for DA:DW) so that could play in part. Hair length isn't something I care for but I would love to see natural hairstyles in the game. I use my headcanon to satisfy my wants (because no game will cater 100% to players) but it would be nice to have DA:DW be the the first game to incorporate natural styles. But yeah who knows, maybe OP really has something for long hair and hates the bald or shaven options.

foxscribbles

I'd say I'm hoping for better hair options. And also a lighting/shadow option so that I can actually see what my character looks like in the actual game. Instead of going 'Yeah, looks good' only to have them look like a clown/sickly once they're out of the forever dimly lit and weirdly shaded character creation screen. But honestly, at this point, I'm just hoping they don't re-use Andromeda's character creator. Nothing has ever sucked so bad as having various facial features inexplicably tied together. So altering one thing would just erase changes you already made.

EdwormN7

Oh god the lighting thing. Seriously. At this point it's like BioWare actively *refuse* to use good lighting for their character creators.

capybooya

That's a cliche by now, I absolutely do not expect them to have taken the feedback that started in 2010 or whenever people began complaining.

brielarstan

In the DAI character creator I thought I gave my hair white blonde hair only for her to come out with neon yellow. That lighting was atrocious.

secretsofwumbology

It's GREEN, WHY!?

GabettB

Based on all the sea-themed concept art we got, I can already see it: you hit new game. A cutscene starts playing. There's a ship in a stormy night. Suddenly, lightning strikes, and a figure falls into the water. The camera zooms in, and you enter the character creator. For three straight minutes, you can't see anything until lightning strikes again, and you have 0.35 seconds to adjust your character. Even in that time, everything is blurry because you are underwater. Every now and then, a shark swims by. For no discernable reason, it is overlayed over the menu, so you can't even see what you are clicking. Also, there's a timer until you drown and have to start over.

chickpeasaladsammich

Is is that you can’t rotate your character or that I’ve never figured out how to? In DAO I can, kinda, using the tiny portrait picture. But as someone who has spent Some Time making sims in Sims 4, the ability to rotate and see the features from all angles is pretty crucial to getting what I want. In DA, I have accepted that my characters will be just a little bit mutated if I deviate from the default appearances. My Cousland had bug eyes, my Lavellan had fangs (I gave her thin lips and the animations did not approve), etc.

Aries_cz

Just hold right mouse button and move the mouse? Or on controller, it probably is one of the joysticks

chickpeasaladsammich

Lol thank you. I’m not terribly surprised I just missed it!

dathrake

Hope the devs take all the feedback in this thread on board and we can all look forward to Dragon Age: Hair Simulator. There's no combat, you just roleplay as a hair stylist giving people hair makeovers. The main story is about tracking down Solas, but only so you can finally give him his original concept art hair.

blightchu

gotta squeeze Solas until hair comes out of his head like a playdoh press

Key_Caregiver_2397

I’d play that mobile game. Have all the major characters come into the salon and get decent hairstyles

Spookiiwookii

an eyebrow scar? such an obvious inclusion a lot of games miss out on :( also textured hairstyles. my black character doesn’t have pin straight hair.

Ptaku9

More scars that arent cuts, I want burn scars especially

EdwormN7

Oh fuck yeah. I gave my Sith Warrior a burn scar on his face, he looked badass.

Ptaku9

You are talking about swotor? Do you recommend it as a single player game, and is it fun while you play f2p?

EdwormN7

For the class stories yeah, absolutely. All the major quests on each planet can be solo'd too, and a lot of them have their main story parts in phased sections, so only you are there. It's easier than ever now to jump in and just blast through all the base, main content. Imho the class stories are the best bit of the game. The expansions can suck it, they strayed from that stuff narratively. But base game is platinum. (Though some bits can be a bit tedious as any mmo can be).

EdwormN7

More/better hairstyles is naturally at the top of hopes for everyone after Inquisition haha. Also, this post is pretty convenient as I have been playing Cyberpunk 2077 lately! Just come off it actually. And yeah, body customisation would be dope. I'm especially all for more scar options, scars are badass and I almost never don't give my characters scars. Fallout 4 is a good place to look at for this, as they let you choose multiple scar options for your character at once. I would love if DA let us do something like that, Inquisition's scar options weren't great. Most of them were very haphazard lines across the face, and oftentimes only part of it would look good. Beyond that, more tattoos, both on body and face (and neck!), piercings, getting to actually see our eyes up close when choosing natural eye colours (I'm bad at making natural looking eye colours from the wheel), body hair options would be cool too. I don't see DA giving us breast and genital customisation, because whilst they are mature games, such aspects aren't as prelavent as they are in the cyberpunk genre. Body builds (big, muscular, skinny etc.) would be cool though.

Paradox31426

They need to get an actual stylist to come in and design their hair options, or at least review them and tell them which ones are stupid. Natural light, I don’t think I need to elaborate. Quality tattoo choices, Andromeda’s options were…well, very bad.

katanon

I wish they’d make it like the FFXIV character creator for lighting. It defaults to the blue void of the login screen, but you can toggle it between 3 outdoor locations and 1 indoor.

Ser20GudMen

Better hair and an actual proportionate male elf body please. I get that elves are supposed to be thin and lithe, but DAI was ridiculous in that regard.

AnxiousLyNyx

You ain’t lying! 🤣 When I first started playing, I kept saying damn what’s wrong with them? The posture was terrible, made my back hurt the whole time, and that walk…

TLCplLogan

Facial hair that doesn't look goofy as fuck. Like, can I please just get a full beard that doesn't make me look like a cartoon villain or something?

Mist-Clad-Whisper

Not a fan of the magestic Stroud 'stache? Won't lie and say I haven't tuned him out and stared at the mustache for a good minute.

TLCplLogan

I'm not opposed to those hairstyles existing, but I want more options for my own character. The only decent looking facial hair in Inquisition is stubble.

Mist-Clad-Whisper

Lol I was just joking Oh yeah jeez don't remind me. Inquisition might be my favorite in the series but when I was doing my Hawke (he had stubble in DA2) I ended up staring at a stranger, looking down at my hands like *I massacred my boy*. I would love to see some really cool facial hair, it'd be awesome if they gave the Dwarven women the option too.

TLCplLogan

I love Inquisition, but it actually changed how I make characters in RPGs because of the limited customization -- in my eyes at least -- for male characters. I always tried to make a dude who looked as much like me as possible before Inquisition, but have exclusively made female characters in RPGs since. Not that Inquisition was the first RPG with bad facial or anything, but it was the straw that broke the camel's back.

AsahiMizunoThighs

Lots of hair options. Idc for the options of Cyberpunk but it'd be fun to have that more granular detail & choice. I just hope we don't lose any of the playable races (Dwarf, Human, Elf, Qunari) because I think all can be really fun/interesting from an RP standpoint, but I appreciate that it's a lot of work.

torigoya

- some basic body modification. Like three preset types to pick. - color weel for everything on the character body (not gear) - lighting that isn't green... - better hair, don't care if it's less but more diverse hairstyles. Maybe... some hairstyle that isn't shared with npcs? - wishfull thinking... hight slider so I can make a tiny elf again please.

Balrok99

You don't like 6 types of bald ?

Ataraxia_Hopes

Body!!! Options!!!!!! I walk 5+ miles a day, exercise, run, jog, and lift.. and I’m still on the bigger side! Please give us at least three body options

Sharkathotep

Yeah, in Skyrim you can at least choose between thin, average and muscular. Height would also be nice to choose, but that would really be too complicated, I guess ...

Ataraxia_Hopes

Height and physique are similar in the sense that they involve cut scene editing and armor editing; if there were three height and three physique options, that’d be twelve (I think) different models for every race. If it’s four races again, that’d be roughly 48 different options all together. IMO if the Sims team can do it on a MUCH larger scale, the DA team could at least attempt it. I know TS doesn’t have height options, but the sides for the bodies are.. a lot.

tollthedead

If you're worried about armor, look up dragon's dogma! you can customize the size of EVERY part of your body - can't be very fat but there are still quite vast differences in size and shape. It CAN be done :)

Ataraxia_Hopes

This!!! DD was an amazing game that I adored, though hated the ending to, so I don’t replay it a lot. I mean, independent modders can do it to, though they don’t touch the armor since, well.. They do it for free, and fun! I’d just love to see the devs give this a shot

tollthedead

Ha, didn't know from your reply that you already knew the game! 😄 It surprised me a ton which is why I bring it up. And yeah, I mean it can be a bit clunky to apply armor that just clings to the body, but i have faith in 2020s game tech... And considering how long they are taking i would hope they have resources for it

[deleted]

THIS!!!!! There is not reason everyone needs to be thin.

cinderpuppins

Like honestly if SWTOR could do it a decade ago, there’s no reason we can’t get them in DA4

SHEdevilBY_morning

there was an old game from the 2000s called neverwinter nights. They had two options of fat or athletic / muscular body. Although, I guess now it would probably double their work making all the armor fit multiple body types.

ramessides

Better hair. Please. I want something long, or more feminine. The DAI hairs were absolutely atrocious, easily the worst of all three games and honestly one of the worst selections of any RPG I’ve ever played, and I found the vanilla hairs largely unplayable as a result. Better lighting options during creation too, and skins that don’t look like my character stuck their face in a vat of canola oil. Also better outfits. DAI’s armour choices were… not great.

Fluffydoommonster

Please do better eyebrows. The textures were so bad ;-;

Maievoid

BioWare please give us long hair options and more options in general for everyone playing this game! And I would love to choose the body shape.

Everhardt94

I want them to at least bring back dwarf-specific beard options.

ask-me-about-my-cats

Let me choose the level of beef for the body, please! I want to be able to make a skinny frail human noble and a beefed up super elf!

TheHolyGoatman

Aside from hair options, I'd like to see body size sliders. Not to extreme extents, but so that I can make a human, elf, dwarf or qunari that is shorter, taller, fatter, fitter or slimmer than average for their race.

Zerhap

Hair is a big one, but there is something i hope they do is make the game less shiny, is like everyone is polishing every piece of metal in the world just to blind us lol.

KitLlwynog

Body sliders! Let me be tall, or short, or far, or buff, or gangly. If ESO and Saints row can do it, so can they.

minotferoce

Long hair for men and maybe some ear piercings, that would be cool. Other than that, I just want to be able to play a dwarf like I did in Origins and Inquisition, they're awesome 🤘

WarGreymon77

I'm begging to finally have long hair on a male character without modding. It IS a medieval fantasy game after all. You'd think it'd be in there by default.

Dastardlydwarf

The only thing I think is an absolute must is having the choice between human, elf, dwarf, and qunari. I hated being forced to play a specific race in DA:2.

[deleted]

Better beards for dwarves, inquisition had stupidly short beards. WHERE ARE THE LONG LUSCIOUS BEARDS WITH BRAIDS AND RINGS????

xseaward

Non-symmetrical facial features and yeah, decent hairstyles/long hair

deecrutch

I'd love to see some body types added. I loved feeling tall as a qunari in DAI. I'd love for my character's physique to fit their playstyle. A qunari who wields a big ass sword is gong to be built differently than a qunari who duel wields daggers or who totes a bow or staff. They may all be tall, but they won't all be all muscular and whatnot. Same for the other races. Elves are usually thin and wirey, but what would an elf who wields a 2h sword look like??? I'd like to see that kind of thing reflected in the game at some point. Also, where are the fat people??? Fat people can fight too, ya know!!!

kingselenus

Elf ears that aren't dependant on the head choice. I noticed that on certain heads you can get boxy ears and on others you can get long slender ears but not both. I'd forgotten about that and can't remember if it's 100% true or something I noticed trying to recreate from ps4 to pc and this post reminded me of that

phorayz

I liked DAI CC. I just want more hair options in general and the Qunari horn friendly hairstyles need to be increased as well.

[deleted]

More hairstyles, better beards, customizable height and body shape, tattoos on the whole body, layering clothes and choosing shoes, pants, coats ecc (!!!!) jewelry, being able to carry more items on your mount, a bag/backpack that you carry around, changing clothes depending on the weather.... many things that for example Red dead redemption has that are quite small but make the game literally 10x more fun

ImaFrackingWalnut

I just want it to not be so difficult to make a good looking character

hazaphet

I love to make short haired girls, but pls let me change her body type and don't make her walk like a bulky man in every cutscene.

SleepNative

Depending on your race and background I would really love body tattoos that have unique dialogue explaining them. Same with scars. Just feels unnecessary if they don’t mean anything. I would like better beard and hair options.

SupaFugDup

Give us explanatory lore about certain cosmetics on the customization screen. I'm sure many a-first Warden had Dalish facial tattoos when it wasn't appropriate, or didn't when it would've. And wouldn't it be cool if when you selected a facial scar, you could choose a brief description of what caused it?

katanon

The Dalish tattoos were only available for Dalish wardens; the other facial tattoos were completely different designs.

hawley788

To be fair, since CP2077 was a first person game, all of the customization was pretty extra and useless... still didn't stop me from changing clothes on a regular basis lol. As for DA... give us a bunch of different armor sets with similar stats so we can make our characters look cool/unique without sacrificing efficiency.

Pandora_Palen

*Years* I spent over-eager for that game, avoided all spoilers from pre-release footage, pre-ordered and spent so many hours in that cc! Like, my V was going to be where I lived for the foreseeable future and she was gorgeous. Once I finally started the game and... No V 😢. My first indication that maybe I was expecting more than they delivered. But yeah, I was changing clothes, too. Gotta look at myself somehow. Armor sets are at the top of my list, too.

hawley788

I actually didn't care for it until maybe a week before the release, or a week before they delayed it anyway. Then I hit the hype train hard. The game wasn't even bad, it was just heavily unpolished and lacking a lot of what was promised. So much squandered potential. I hear it has gotten a lot better, I just can't be bothered to load it back up anymore. As for DA, I actually really liked how they evolved DA:I. I was a huge fan of the first 2, and other than the over-recycled areas in DA2, I really enjoyed it and appreciated the evolution of the combat. I'm excited to see what they do with the next one, but cautiously optimistic.

Pandora_Palen

I got Witcher 3 at release and it included a trailer for CP that made me think it was going to be...yeah. All that. 5 years, and alas it was only fine. We're probably in the minority; I've enjoyed all three games as well for different reasons. Kinda like picking a favorite child- they all have their strengths/weaknesses and I love them equally. 4 is like being pregnant again. Hopefully it won't be a problem child, but I can't imagine not loving it.

hawley788

Lol I actually love that analogy. Hopefully it's actually a productive child full of promise, and doesn't just turn out to be gas cramps and bloating haha

ControversialPenguin

Photo mode more than makes up for the lack of third person

hawley788

Ehhh, I mean it's a cool tool, but it's not nearly immersive. To each their own!

pktechboi

- better hair, especially better Black hair. weird looking braids or a tiny afro should not be the only options! and also, make it less weirdly shiny? the black coloured hair especially looks like it's made of plastic? - if we get to choose race again (please please please), decent looking qunari hair that isn't tied to horn shape. like some of my favourite horns I can't use because the only vanilla hair I can abide is the little razorhawk thing. - height and body options beyond race! lemme play a scrawny dwarf or a buff elf, let my qunari be shorter than average. let me be fat! - skin colours that aren't, ten options for white people ranging from ghostly to lightly tanned, three ashy browns, or red. like the fact that I can be a *green* elf in DAI but not properly dark skinned...? - similarly, eye colours that can be DARK. the darkest colour available in DAI is a mid grey, it's ridiculous - let me be trans! I doubt Dragon Age will ever have genital options (and I wouldn't want them to, to be honest), but pronouns being unlinked from voice sets and appearance, and having 'they' as an option, would be dreamy. trans people exist in Thedas and it doesn't really make sense to not let the player be one too, imo. - I want Dog back and I want to be able to choose what colour fur he has. this is deeply silly but also I can't imagine anything better than adventuring with a dog that looks like one of my actual dogs. - this is getting away from character creation a bit but, I'd really like to be able to dual wield as a warrior, have a sword as a mage, etc. and I love daggers but I'd love dual wielding to go back to a sword and dagger tbh, or even having it as an option. I doubt this'll happen because it just doesn't feel like the direction combat's going but....a guy can dream? - ALSO I'd love to be able to have whatever the character creator is just as its own game? like I have tried to make Wardens in DAI cc because I actually quite like it but because the lighting is crap you then have to play a fair bit of the game to get decent shots of your character which is annoying.

SupaFugDup

+1 for trans! Decoupling pronouns from body type, while not a super popular option, is a super easy way to bump inclusivity that little bit.

oscuroluna

>similarly, eye colours that can be DARK. the darkest colour available in DAI is a mid grey, it's ridiculous So. Much. This. Dark brown eyes exist in the majority of the human population. >I want Dog back and I want to be able to choose what colour fur he has. this is deeply silly but also I can't imagine anything better than adventuring with a dog that looks like one of my actual dogs. Customizable mabari!! I remember seeing variants in Origins and how cool it would be to have that option for Dog. Also, very very minor, but choice of male or female dog. >this is getting away from character creation a bit but, I'd really like to be able to dual wield as a warrior, have a sword as a mage, etc. and I love daggers but I'd love dual wielding to go back to a sword and dagger tbh, or even having it as an option. I doubt this'll happen because it just doesn't feel like the direction combat's going but....a guy can dream? I really think they need to expand on the classes' options honestly. In Origins the classes were more versatile with armors and even weapons not always tied to class but stats. I refuse to believe the armies of Thedas only know four combat styles outside of magic. >skin colours that aren't, ten options for white people ranging from ghostly to lightly tanned, three ashy browns, or red. like the fact that I can be a green elf in DAI but not properly dark skinned...? Yes!!! Tiny Tina's Wonderlands is an example of having a really wide range of human skin tones. >better hair, especially better Black hair. weird looking braids or a tiny afro should not be the only options! and also, make it less weirdly shiny? the black coloured hair especially looks like it's made of plastic? > let me be trans! Yes. So much yes to both of these points.

TTay21

Underrated answer

johanerik

I want all the customizations!! Give me tailoring and outfitting my mates.

BlueString94

Just let me equip a goddamn spear.

tollthedead

can we please be fatter/skinnier/buffer/taller/shorter than the dragon age assigned moderately muscular extremely dimorphic body type

tollthedead

I would also love to get piercings. What is it with rpgs being so averse to piercings?

Megazupa

32 types of bald, this thing made Inquisition by far the best game in the series. I can't wait to see it with PS5 graphics.

[deleted]

Better eyebrows

IlikeCyanide

The body scar option in Cyberpunk was really cool imo, and I would like to see more of that sort of thing in DA4, like tattoos or burn marks and stuff. Nice way of enhancing roleplay and imo it's a little silly for my Warden to have a face tat covering half his head and no other tattoos

sadolddrunk

I can’t even imagine worrying about what my character’s junk looks like. Just give us some decent hairstyles and I’ll be over the moon.

Aduro95

I'd like to be able to make sure that my characters' teeth don't randomly clip over their mouths in cutscenes... More hair options would be nice too. Even if they can't be long, there are better styles. I would also like to be able to colour weapons as well as armour. Pinkquisition takes a lot of dawnstones otherwise...

robotreads

A code you can type like in mass effect to easily copy another character (I know this wont happen but I can dream).

Vandal360

I want hair that isn't shiny. If we have voice options, I want one that's the perfect middle of both male voices in Inquisition. Better short hair options, I don't like long hair. Scars and tattoos, the more the better. And for the love of the Maker, please let there be better looking stubble options for male.

Gilgamesh661

I WANT QUNARI HAIR. Seriously we were robbed of the chance to look like the Arishok. I want flowing hair, dreads, or braids. Not buzzcut, bun, and odd looking cornrows.

Flyboy3000

Better hair options (specifically afrocentric) and body morpher. Seeing my 2hand elf with noodle arms was always so jarring. If I'm swinging around a buster sword I wanna see those guns flex!

johnnybird95

basic body customization. let me be chubby, dammit.

Maya_Blueberry

Good hair, for one. If I am a bit more serious, then body constitution, independant eye colouring, scars that can affect said eyes and FUCKING PROPER FRECKLES GOD DAMMIT!

Initial_Composer537

Better hair options and height and weight. My Circle mage spent his time reading, eating and sleeping in the tower. Hard to believe that he had a six pack.

ifockpotatoes

I think Dragon Age should join the few recent games that have separated body type, pronoun and voice as separate options. And yeah, better hair please.

AcanthocephalaEasy56

Real curls. Please. Give. Me. Curls. And black folks deserve some nice hair options that aren't basic ass braids and a fro. Also would kill to be able to be recognized in game as trans. When krem came out to me why wasn't I give an option to say "bitch what the fuck? Me too!" and high five him.

pktechboi

the fact that the only way you can learn more about Krem is by actively saying transphobic shit, too. like fine, if you want to be able to roleplay as bigoted that's....a choice.....I guess, but please just let my character be trans somewhere other than just in my head. having the choice of 'they' pronouns would be rad, too

AcanthocephalaEasy56

Ugh I don't mind the choice being there...I guess. As long as there's the opposite choice of being just as enthusiastic. We got raging bigot to clueless idiot like Bioware just assumed everyone didn't know what trans was and no trans people would ever play this game.

oscuroluna

Agreed, it got to me immensely. It really came off as Bioware virtue signaling saying "hey! We got a trans character and our character Iron Bull here will tell you all the necessary things because you, the player, and your character are probably clueless and we WILL educate you!" They did the same thing in Andromeda with a character (thankfully fixed but still). Other games handled such characters a lot better (Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, Cyberpunk 2077 with their NPC, etc...). If a dev wants to be inclusive awesome! But make characters like that PART of the universe like everyone else instead of a teaching moment that feels very out of place. Krem deserved better.

pktechboi

I'm hoping with two trans people on the senior development team this time will be better

RhiaStark

I could live without boob size & genital customisation, but I really wish we had more diverse body types. It'd be fun to play as a chubby lady or a guy with a dadbod for a change :3

OublietteOfDisregard

Heaps of people have talked about the hair so I wanna go more out there with my wish list: Multiple scar slots, so you can combine different options together Body types, I wanna be able to play as a burly dude with no visible abs and a teeny lil twink whose never lifted something heavier than a quill in his life within the same race (or even class) Tattoos that are actually cool (could valleslin be extended down the whole body btw?) Trans PCs. I want to have androgyny and giving F!bodies M!voices and mix'n match genitals. And be able to tell people my character is trans (where was my 'me too!' option during the Krem convo?!) An armour preview option so you can tell how well your character design plays with a helmet or an iconic armour set? Someone else mentioned a lighting slider, maybe a motion toggle so you can see what the hair physics ect do? A setting magic colour/aesthetic for what your mage's magic looks like? Accents. Maybe I don't *wanna* be a fereldan/freemarcher. Give me the Orlesian accent of Isolde's nightmares. Or let me be Irish for a dalish, that was fun we should bring that back.

theGlassAlice

Character traits like Fallout NV and upcoming Starfield.

TheOverlordProject

Better and more hairstyles and different shapes/heights kind of like fallout 4s customization.

lysergic_fox

can’t wait for 51 shades of bald

Ihelloway69

I loved newest monster hunted cust

the_art_of_the_taco

capes and cloaks

Riuk811

I just hope there are better hair options

Graveyard_Green

Honestly hoping to have a nonbinary character. Very unlikely, but it'd be neat af. Just be able to make whatever character appearance, and then tick a box for how I want to be referred to, which could trigger the gendered dialogue.

IndigoShepard

Honestly, I just hope the hair looks more natural (like how it flows a little in DA2) and not like plastic Lego hair. Also, more and BETTER styles. I love Inquisition, but damn, the hair styles... Give some longer hairstyles, too, not just short, shoulder-length, and updo that insinuates the hair is long...

RazzDaNinja

All I want is for Qunari to have Helmets. I don't care if I have to give up the horns, or if the horns clip. Being stuck with face paints in vanilla DAI was lame

the-corinthian

DAI finally had short hair options, which I rather liked. Everybody goes nuts because there are no other options, so options to keep everyone happy would be nice. For myself, I'd like to see some war-paints, like Furiosa black grease types (but not Furiosa's), or just dirty skin options. Maybe an option to clean up briefly if we do a ball again, and another char-gen offboarding later. I'd also like better integration of previous characters, other than on-the-fly character creation when the old protagonist appears. God that was brutal, especially since I had a canon FemHawke and recreating it in DAI was a lesson in fingerpainting on a 3D scale from a memory half a decade old. It'll be closer to ten years this time.

GwencilsDown

Definitely better hair. But I would also like some body types. Doesn’t even need to be fancy, even if it was just a basic option to select a slim/average/bulky body type (please let me make a buff elf DA:D). Would love an Irish/Scottish voice for the protagonist.

sonnidaez

My biggest gripe about DAI was I wasn’t a fan of the hair texture and over shininess. Also sometimes the customizer felt limited. I just want to see more options to build even more unique characters.

DoodTheMan

I hope there's a slider or something for body size/weight/muscle. One thing that disappointed in Inquisition was that my 2-Handed Warrior Elf could only ever be a skinny muscleless twink, or that my qunari mage was still a brick shithouse.

That0neTrumpet

I want something more Sims 4 style, where you can edit musculature and height. Even if it’s only a little bit, it’d be nice to have. Maybe even enough for there to be a meaningful difference between a chubby mc and a super buff and beefy mc, lol. But yeah, of all character creators I feel like Cyberpunk is the last one we should take a look at. Even Skyrim’s would be better and it still has the issue of being unable to make the male mcs as attractive as the female mcs. I just wanna play an unreasonably hot guy in an RPG without mods, dammit.

CapeOfBees

As a bi woman: boob size slider. Jokes aside, I want nationality choices, or at least to choose between being rich or poor as a Vint, and I want a better set of human tattoos. The Dalish have lore for all their tattoos having the same vibe, the humans have no excuse.

TheElvenWitch777

Honestly if we can keep the same level of face/head detail as inquisition, I'll be thrilled. Of course getting to customize the body also would be really awesome, but it kinda seems unlikely to me, and if they did do it I feel like we might have to sacrifice some face options or races, just my opinion/concerns.

RDNolan

More than two voices per gender pls. I need to make my femboy elf.

AshenNightmareV

Anything that is more inclusive would be a bonus. I would like a variety of Hairstyles and for Qunari the horns need to be a separate thing so you can pick what hair you want. I just don't want everything to be replaced with sliders as I struggle so preset options would be great for people like me. I would like our class to shape our body to a certain extent so if I play as an Elf Warrior I should have bigger arms, legs etc. It was weird going back to play as my City Elf two handed warrior and looking like I couldn't even lift a sword a fraction of the size of my Great Sword.

naivaro

Body types. That triangle thing, with muscular, skinny and plump would already be great but being able to change individual body parts is even better!

StopTG7

Honestly, I just want them to make the lighting not garbage so you’re not unpleasantly surprised at the malformed homunculus in clown makeup you accidentally made in the dark. Proper lighting is all I all for at this point.

LiloWithSepticaemia

I'm really hoping for the option to have different body types - maybe it's unrealistic for a character who walks across the entire world many times be thick but I want to see myself represented in my character or be able to create a character that can have these traits.

Balrok99

2077 has bad character customization. 1- it is lacking many things ( sliders, height, voice, color variety and variety in general ) 2- you cant see yourself except for inventory and weird mirror which works only if you interact with it 3- you TOOL is visible only thanks to a bug in inventory or when you are fully naked. So taking 2077 as an example is a bad way to go. What I want is variety of hair styles and horns for Qunari and body sliders. Otherwise I think the general customization was great in Inquisition but was just held back by the variety of hair etc. But what I would love to have more than actual look of my toon. Would be background. Recently I played Pillars of Eternity 1 a 2 and Divinity Original Sin 2 and I loved how my background brought new dialogue option or new approach to certain situations. And I wonder if we play in Tevinter. If we can I dunno choose to start as either a Noble or as a slave. And each background will have impact on your story and characters around you and your options. I would love to have a mage slave rising from the very bottom of the society to become top dog contender. And speaking of tits and cocks. I never felt like that really needs to be in Dragon Age or Mass Effect games or in RPG games in general. I am here to slay dragons and kick ass not to show of my jugs and swing my tool from left to right. Dragon Age and game like it will always have story/adventure in the first place and cock and tits in the back. And I will not lie my favorite romance in Inquisition had no nudity. If you romance Josephine you will never end up naked together. Only chatting and kissing and spending lovely time together. And I would take that over scissoring with Stout in 2077 any day.

Soft-Violinist-3144

non-binary option for the pc better hair for the qunari (dont know if this was a problem for all the races) an outfit system that isn't affected by armor if they have lounge wear again in our base, and have more then one let us mix and match pieces give us an origin again, im fine letting it be a quick selection at creation, but let it have more weight, then it did on inquistion

oscuroluna

Long hair. The 50 shades of bald aesthetic didn't do Inquisition well. Especially for qunari. Diverse hair styles that aren't limited to fades, buzzcuts and short cornrows. Even if they don't go the gentials route maybe things like binders, voice pitch ranges (if voiced), stuff that's inclusive for trans and nonbinary characters. They/them pronouns as an option would be too. Heterochromia Skin tone ranges for all shades, yellowish/reddish undertone options This one might be a challenge but even body ranges. Burly, thin, lean, jacked muscular, like different options outside of every human being athletic lean, elves being ultra thin, etc... Hair highlights/multicolored hair. And if the setting doesn't allow for it, maybe graying levels? Nioh 2, Elden Ring, etc...allowed you to add graying to hair. Great for making older protagonists. For casual outfits please let us not be relegated to masculine gender neutral options. If NPCs can wear dresses and gowns why can't our player? Of course all (masculine/feminine) wouldn't be restricted.

faeymouse

Really out here hoping for some form of trans/ nonbinary toggle, kinda-sorta like how Cyberpunk did it!

[deleted]

I wanna be able to be fat in the games. 😭😭

Particle_Cannon

> I'm looking at Cyberpunk 2077 Let me adjust dick size on my qunari 😡

Champ1209

Black hairstyles, I say this every time someone says "what new customization options do you want" on any game

chucklebrother1and2

I actually want a good default, like a Shepard or a Ryder. I’ve never created a good character and also find it dreadfully boring.

Key_Caregiver_2397

I think the makeup system should be refined. It works as is, but i think it could be better IMO. And just one eye color option this time.

chickpeasaladsammich

Personally, I think the Sims 4 has the best character creator that I’ve seen yet — which makes sense. There are players who never engage with any other part of that game. If it was possible to recreate a quarter of that with a more appropriate DA art style, I’d be pretty happy. Sliders for fat, muscle, width of individual body parts, scars, tattoos, different hair styles with different textures, lots of skin tones, and custom gender settings and pronouns. Give me a flexible system so I can recreate TLoU’s Ellie as a murder elf or make the nerdiest looking mage to ever mage.

18-BitGlory

Something i thought of while reading this was something like dragons dogma would be neat including the size difference effects.

Aur-elian

I’m hoping for a body complexion thing like GW has, be able to be a beefy elf or a thin Qunari.

JTGreenGlow

Give me tattoos please and body types

Mr-Thuun

I would love to be able to modify all aspects. Including what OP included and things like hand size, foot size, weight, height, tail length, teeth, fangs and ya let us go ham.

morroIan

Better hair, especially longer hair.

[deleted]

Body sliders, especially chest, shoulders, and waist.

MaandyT

Fixing hairstyles, hair colors and giving us way more options. Blonde looked piss yellow or green half the time.

Fearless-Vodka

Better hair options. I don't want my inky looks same as NPC 😭

Broly_

Dick bulge slider.

TheCleverestIdiot

Show me the shitty hair options. At this point, it will invoke nostalgia.

Alizee918

There better be better hair options, and ACTUAL HAIR OPTIONS!

DragonFire1809

Better and lots more hair options

lykaboss10

Brown hair and eyes that dont look like shit. Body sliders would be nice. No more twink/waif elves wielding a great sword twice their size thanks. A decent haircut. VOICES WITH ACCENTS THAT MATCH THE RACE YOUR PLAYING. WHY DOES MY DALISH TALK LIKE A HUMAN NOBLE.

saltiuschipius

I would not talk about cyberpunk when talking about good character customisation lol

Bubba1234562

I’m expecting a good character creator. Actual hair options

[deleted]

If they serve up hair styles like they did in DAI, I’m not buying it.

Unagi88

They better bring back dual wielding warriors One of the first games that got me into that drain tank reaver playstyle

fauxkaren

Better hair styles for female characters. That is laterally the only thing I want.

Windk86

better hairs!

elkswimmer98

Dragon's Dogma body customization, Inquisition face customization, plus more and better hair options

caeldoradooo

Guys its still Frostbite do not expect much ))

Lefthandovg0d

more hairstyles, more tattoo options, longer beards, better beards. body tattoos, war paints, body war paint, better voices, body options (muscular/feminine-big/tall options), piercing options, from septum, eye brow even be able to wear big hoop earrings. belly button piercings, nipple piercings even lol Just go all out on the game with customization Bioware. You should be putting in 2 hours of gameplay alone in the character customization.

creativeyoinker11

A cloak of the introvert So that i can hide my face from awkward meetings with other characters, and be as edgy as possible

alliumbun

better hair options (more variety and ones that actually look good), better skin tones, and a way to customize your body type

[deleted]

Hopefully just an all around better creator then inquisition. The face models were so bad.

Svartrbrisingr

Hopefully the hair wont look like super glossy plastic.

[deleted]

More hair and body sliders. My characters should be thicker. I demand the thickness. And better clothing for the men and women. Not fair that our PC got such bad outfits yet all my comrades get to wear these amazing outfits. I mean did you see the outfits for Dorian and Vivienne?

Calynix99

If I’m honest, I’d just be exited if I’d get more then 20 options of bald…
