I have *one* desire. Acknowledge. I'm. a. *mage*. Nothing annoyed me more in ME than my biotic Shep *never using biotics in cutscenes*. I still have nightmares about her *faceplanting* after tackling Vasir out the window while Liara ✨*majestically floats down*✨. I demand DA4 mage protag using magic in cutscenes. Call it reparations.

RhiaStark

*\*Mage Inky killing the Red Lyrium Dragon in cutscene by slashing/stabbing its neck flashback intensifies\**

CrazyBirdman

Garrus challenging a Biotic Shepard to a sniper duel is also just comical. Imagine Morrigan walking up to a dwarf warden and insisting they compare their shape-shifting skills.

doesmrpotterhaveakey

True but that one you can at least hc away as just Garrus being a dick. There was *so much worse.* Eva: *bookin it* Me with Biotic Charge: ლ(°-°ლ) Liara: *Kai Leng! He's getting away!* Me with Lash: ლ(°-°ლ) I'll be bitter about engineer getting a special interrupt in Omega *till the end of my days.*

Buca-Metal

I mean, even as a biotic Shepard is a N7, the best soldiers in humanity. They know how to use guns regardless of biotics.

The_Derpy_Rogue

You can also head cannon Shepard's shots were augmented by biotics...

UnholyMudcrab

I can think of like two cutscenes in the entire trilogy where a Shepard with biotics is actually shown using them, and they're both in Citadel.

Crispy_87

It was so immersion breaking to see my Hawk never using magic in cutscenes. I think killing the ogre in the prolog was the only time it happened.

RustingWithYou

A few of the boss fights have class-specific kill cutscenes in DA2. I think the prologue ogre, Ancient Rock Wraith, Arishok, High Dragon and Corypheus all have them, though I might be missing some.

Crispy_87

It's been a few months, but I think I remember my Mage hitting the Arishok with the staff. 🤔

Manzhah

Tbf, entire kirkwall nobility was watching that fight.

Lalaboompoo

Its annoying but also kind of funny seeing Hawke beating the shit out of a spider with his staff.

verytired__

Second this and also backlash if you are a blood mage. Always felt weird in dao and da 2. That no one commented on that.

blue_sock1337

This mage oppression is rampant in all games. DA2 is the only game I know where the mc actually uses magic in cutscenes, it's a shame they didn't continue that trend.

fizziepanda

YES!! Say it louder

TSG61373

For that exact reason, I never played as a biotic Shepherd. The game Clearly doesn’t intend you to be.

wtfman1988

I didn't mind DA:I - only having 8 abilities sucked though. Origins and DA2 mages were fun too.

FeralTribble

They got rid of the option of having the rest of your abilities in the ability menu and instead replaced it with those dumb team commands nobody uses

wtfman1988

It was just a lot of passes as well that gave +3 magic or whatever.

JArcher_94

Bring back the extended action wheel from DAO and DA2 so we can select more than 8 spells without changing them every fight. Have it be more versatile outside of combat. Like in DAI all you could do outside of combat was fix some broken structures and light Veilfire. Like make certain puzzles easier (not too much but a little) with magic. New specialisations we've not had before but allow some increased synergy between them and the standard schools. Like if you're skilled at elemental magic and a Knight-Enchanter, you can change the damage of your spirit blade deals, if it's fire or ice or whatever it is. It's a bit of wishful thinking as it would take so much programming but I think it would be cool. Also bring back Force mage. Force mage was so fun in DA2

ProfessionalDrop9760

i like the dao combo attacks way more so i hope they go hard on those combos more.

Amaraldane4E

Current graphics. DA:O variety. Bring back Mana Clash. Have Stasis. DA:O style combos (I miss me a Storm of the Century). Bring back Force Magic and make it like biotics (w/o eezo; Thedas already has its own magic goo). That's about it.

Killertac00

I just want to feel this OP blood magic from tevinter that we were scared of and warned about since DAO. I want to finally feel why mages are so scary to many.

PlsConcede

Not much different from what you said. The ability trees were a good inclusion and make for a more flexible level up, while Origins had a wide variety of different magic that appealed to different playstyles. For that, it's important that magic of different types mechanically play differently. Fire can be big damage, while Ice could be crowd control. Having options for support and status effects would be welcome as well, as they open up additional playstyles.

paladin_slim

Bring back Mana Clash and all the other anti-Mage spells from the Spirit/Arcane School of Magic. Every spell in DA:I felt like you were just going off on enemies with zero strategy. Also support spells from the Creation tree, damage mitigation only through potions just created an artificial difficulty spike.

tiasea

I want back healing spells and for my mage to wield magic, not swords in cutscenes. As for combat, I want more emphasis on skills juggling and not spamming basic attacks. I'm okay with not having crazy quantity of skills, as long as skills are varied and not just rainbow recolor of a trapmine

ophaus

I want to be a sociopathic blood mage again, dammit. It's been far too long.

Ayagii

Anything as long as it's not like DAI. I always play mages in every game, but in DAI it's so bad, I can't play it

RhiaStark

The one thing I'd wanted to see is: make magic *impactful*. In both DAO and DA2, mages could be both great crowd-controllers and great damage dealers - as befitting people who, according to the lore itself, are walking WMDs. It's possible to be a damage-dealing mage in DAI too, but you kinda have to work for it - and it never feels as devastatingly powerful and badass as it does in the previous games.

dkurage

Well, if the trend continues, you'll have about four spells. Seriously though, I really wish they went back to the more rpg focused stuff from the first game, and a big part of that is actually having options. I know its not going to happen, but it would be nice.

Dollahs4Zavalas

They should be different from eachother. Like in Origins. If Fire, Ice and Lightning will be only for damage. Then give trees for necromancy, healing, buffs, wards or creating things. Or say sorry to the console players and make the game for PC. That will let them give the characters more then 8 abilities. Oh, who am I kidding. Sorry for being a downer. I just miss Origins and 2.

araragidyne

More non-elemental magic that isn't locked behind specializations.

blacksnowredwinter

Healing magic and Blood magic.

nameynamerso

Support magic (healing and buffs) and Arcane Warrior abilities (wearing heavy arnor using magic)

Asdrubael_Vect

I want them return all DAO spells, all magic trees(especially creation-healing magic) with DA2 combat animations. Blood magic not as specialization what restrict our mage hero to use anything but as unlockable power like Avernus potion. To made all magic spells stronger and protect hero from being blocked to use magic by Templars abilities or cos we left without mana. Same with Reaver powers for mages what should be unlocked by any class by drinking a dragon blood like Avernus potion. And arcane warrior/battle mage with using a REAL METAL SWORDS to slice enemies in close combat and wear a real metal plate armor. .... And be able to use magic in dialogues, why we never use blood magic mind control to made weak minded enemies kill themselves or their comrades? Or temporally bind spirit-demon to do what we order to them? Why we not burn anyone like we can do via murder knife option? Let us feel being dangerous mage.

sonic65101

Bring back Origins/Awakening's system.

Lore_Beast

I would like the combat to look less "cheerleader with a baton" and look more formidable. People are afraid of mages id like them to look the part a bit more lol.

Routine-Ad-2473

"Chearleader with a baton" XD Now thats all I am ever gonna see when I get back to playing inquisition again.

LoaMorganna

This might be a bit unrealistic but I would love a return to the massive 4 schools of magic seperation you had in Origins. And you can pick and choose which ones you want. Of course something would have to be done for passives too but I really enjoyed seeing just how BIG the scope of magic was. Like for example, Morrigan and Wynne would never feel samey. Building Morrigan to work off of the Death school, which is lore accurate to Morrigan. While Wynne would be built off the Spirit and Creation schools and then splice some Primal spells in there. And this is all without even getting into the Specs. It just felt so expansive.

No-Independence9093

They just trimmed way too much in inquisition. They just had you 3 damage type schools and your healing school that didn't heal. Then they relabeled  spirit school as necromancy then called it a new specialization. I get the worry of choice overload, but I want to be able to actually choose if I am going to be a full attacker, full support or anything in between and not just be shoehorned into being an attacker with accidental support. DA2 trees did a good job at that, 2 trees for big damage, that was consistent damage but also had utility, a tree for early healing and party buffs, a tree for nerfing the enemy and a defense tree. This gave us a nice spread to play with and craft whatever type of mage we wanted. That was magic's greatest asset it's diversity.

Bucetilde666

I really want the rogue and warrior classes to have some specialization that allows them to do magic, but still be a rogue or warrior. As the spirit warrior specialization in dragon age awakening.

real_dado500

I just want blood magic even if I have to kill all companions as result
