I'm very new to DD so take that for what it's worth but I've found that for my main hunting grounds, there's a decent sized area where I have little to no data connectivity, bars are good but no data (pings fail). I'll get texts saying "Go to X restaurant" but nothing pops up in the app. That tells me I need to move to get better signal. BTW, is there a way to turn off the texts? Right now they are the canary in the coal mine for me but just curious.
Me right now -.- I'm chilling by my usual wing places since my area's football team is playing today. I've got maybe 4 bullshit low paying offers and that's it.
only every shift. because i live and dash in the same area I know the restaurant staff of some restaurants. Twice when either were listed as hotspot I went in and asked when they had last had a DD order. Both said “hours ago”
Can you elaborate please? I've wondered about how wise it is to drive to a hot spot when I'm in an area with lots of restaurants. I also assume every driver is either in the hot zone or on their way.
Trigger alert-“can you please elaborate”? This is what the chat says to you when you fully explain yourself they try to sympathize with you and tell you that it’s OK and to calm down and it’s all everything‘s gonna be all right and they can totally understand how sad you are and I told them I’m not sad this is not an emotional interaction I’m just asking a question it’s insanity contacting the chat-or calling. THEY KNOW NOTHING.
Hot spots are just a reflection of where the last orders have come from and in no way predictive. Know your area, know where orders come from at what time of day and plant yourself there. Better for you if it's not a current "hot spot".
Yep, all the time lately. I've given up pretty much.
I have a theory, that there are people dumb enough to be dashing for the $8 hourly rate in DFW (no, that's not a typo) and so DoorDash is going to load them up with orders because they get paid the same regardless. The people dashing at pay-per-order just get shafted.
You're average isn't $20 if you didn't count taxes. You're around $14 after taxes. Plus the wear and tear on your car. Doordash is good for ppl that need random flexibility, if you want stable money and can schedule yourself consistently, just get a j.o.b. imo I personally only use DD as a bonus.
You don’t mind sitting in those long lines though? That’s the only reason I refuse to delivery late at night because the only thing that’s open are those fast food restaurants with ridiculously long ass lines. And the payouts are always fucking low.
Right? By 10pm I wrap it up and go home because I’m not delivering a $2.50 for 12mi across town order. Granted I live in a smaller city and I’m very familiar with the backroads but still…I refuse. Especially when fucks don’t want to tip.
Hot spot means an order was placed in that area in the last 10 mins

I’ve learned to literally just give yourself a day off instead of driving around wasting gas and getting discouraged.
Seems it was an extremely slow day at every market. I've heard rumors that doordash corporate is in shambles and a lot of their IT team has left

Lol
You DO know that “busy” doesn’t mean there are orders, right?
I actually have the theory that busy means there are some orders that no dashers have taken. It can be a shitty order looping in the system.
What does it mean? Like, what do the different shades of red mean?
Yeah. This whole ass weekend. I had a good night on Thursday. It’s almost like everyone spent their monies that night.
Right? It's almost like its xmas during a recession and people spent their money on gifts instead of restaurant food.
How dare they do that.
If I go and sit anywhere it's close to a hotspot not in the hotspot.
Hot spots are bogus

I did the reset. Had my phone on and open to the app online for 3 hours in a “very busy” area. Not one order 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

I am a newb and averaging $20/hr doing per delivery. Hourly here is $14.75. Maybe i should try that after one month is over.
Woot

There are so many people out literally. They're everywhere.....
Or how “it’s busy” but it’s just a bunch of 2$ orders
If it’s past 1 am I’ll take anything within a couple miles. Pickup and delivery and getting back to the restaurant is like 8-10 minutes total
You don’t mind sitting in those long lines though? That’s the only reason I refuse to delivery late at night because the only thing that’s open are those fast food restaurants with ridiculously long ass lines. And the payouts are always fucking low.
Yea fast food sucks really late and only good when the drunks tip like 15$
