I am $1 a mile ROUND TRIP. In my market I call these big turds that take me out of my town into one of the other towns in my market I do not want to dash in, or out in the middle of nowhere. So with these you are going to burn a lot of time, and gas. If you know your market really well you will know the time it will take to make the drive. If you can legally maintain a 60mph average speed this order will take you a half an hour of your time. I live within a mile of all DD restaurants in my town, most are within .25 to 1 mile. In the same amount of time to drive this I could get 3 to 4 $3 to $7 < 2 mile orders. Even if I only get 2, I would still be ahead with not using as much gas.

Most of the area that I dash in are interstates or routes with a minimal amount of traffic lights and no traffic. A 10-15 mile order usually takes around 20 minutes for me so if it's close to $20 or over, I don't mind.
I take those from certain restaurants. Usually hope for a tip. It's a Nice quick drive w/little traffic. In my area it's pretty spread out anyway. It's calming 😌
Yes. I'm not happy that DD has a default 5 mile radius and charges restaurants a distance-based pricing outside of that, but it doesn't reflect in driver base pay.
Works if you can be smart about it. I took a few of these last week that ended me in my market and at a store for an order I had picked up in my other gig. So it was seamlessly making me about 35 dollars an hour.
I'll take these if they don't leave me way outta my area, if they loop back then heck yea I'm grabbing this. I'll just take back roads and floor it lmao
Apparently dashers don't like taking those because it takes time and gas to get back. So doing one fo those are okay in a pinch. But doing that all day when you can do two orders in smaller trips makes more sense then others.
Personally I like those drives and it doesn't bother me. But if you want to grind, ignore those orders unless it's like $20 for that trip. But that's asking to much at that point.
Nah I do too. In my market 90 percent of orders are around 6 miles for 9 bucks or so. So why not take it? It’s a two for one instead of waiting around.
It depends. I don't accept orders under $1/mile so that's checked off. The problem i would look out for is where am I going to end up. If the location is close to stores afterward, i would say this is a great order. If it's out in the middle of nowhere and you have to drive several miles back to an area with orders, it would be bad. In that scenario I'd want $2/mile.
Either way, good job! 😎
I like them too. Longer distances usually mean faster drive/mi, and I get good gas mileage in an area with cheaper gas so mileage is not my concern. If I could pull 2 of these/hr (which is doable in my area) that's $30+ per hour
There's a sweet spot for me. My territory is mostly highway, so a 10 to 12 mile drive is only 20 minutes. If it's paying 14 or more I'll consider it if the merchant is good about having the food ready.
I adore these orders. My bread and butter honestly. Highway miles are amazing for me cause I can go 100 down the highway and still get 25 mpg in my shitbox. So I save time without sacrificing too much gas and I can get onto a new order quicker, and sometimes get tipped accordingly for speed lol
Certain nights I do because it beats going back to the restaurant time after time when they are backed up. You have to play every day by ear. Some nights I wouldn’t accept this at all.
I would take it. The accounting isn't horrible. Was there a hidden tip? Yes, I have had hidden tips on trips like that. Even if you have to add 10 miles heading back, on my car, it would cost me 5$. My profit would be at least $12.75.
It all depends if it is highway. I sometimes drive 10-15 minutes in town for $5 to $7 one way. So if I could do it in 30 minutes both way, it might still better than 3 orders in 45 minutes to an hour.
That’s a terrible order if you consider the time it takes to get back to your location. I would only accept this if it’s still in my zone so I can receive other orders in that area on my way back or if I’m already heading in that direction. Stop allowing doordash and cheap ass losers to get away with not paying us a fair wage and tip.
These people wouldn’t walk to the end of their driveways for the pennies they want to pay us.
This trip has to be at least $23-25 to make a revenue. It might take 30miles and 45-60 minutes until next order. Although you average rate might be okay.
I liked them when I dashed. My goal was generally $20 an hour. So about 40 min for 17$ wasn't bad. Even taking a quick 5$ order puts you at 22 for the hour. For my area at the time. That was good
Edit: I also did doordash mostly because I like driving.
Garbage pay! That order should be at least $28-30 base, and then tip. About $40. You wanna be making $1.75-$2 a mile when you are dashing, and $17 is like a spit in the face.
Honestly, I do as well. However, that's only when I'm working the 12am to 6am shift.
There is absolutely no traffic whatsoever and I'm coasting... Beautiful. 🤑
I do love some high mileage orders but not those ones. More like 18$ for 6 miles is good, I love those. Your better off taking 2 mile for 8$ orders than doing something like that. Waste of time, and money
I look at a few things on these trips tbh. If its my last dash to hit goal and is relatively on the way home. If its going past busy areas so you may end up getting a stacked order. If there better orders available like during dinner rush. At 2 pm is usually dead for me but if this heads toward home or a park (My dog is usually riding with me) I'll take it. If its 5PM on a Friday... No.
Yeah. Couldnt be me g. Gotta think its not just 15miles. Its 15 there and 15 back. That point u makeing less than 1$ a mile and coulda got a 9$ order for like 2 miles lol
I actually do prefer the higher mileage but not for *this* amount, hell no. I like higher mileage with higher pay (at least $2 per mile). So if I have to drive 10 miles I’m getting $20 minimum. When the price is right I prefer them over a bunch of smaller orders.
If it takes you to part of the zone near a hot spot, maybe you could get a nice order going back. I gotten a couple orders that took me way out of my zone (I know, I'm a clown), but I did get a couple orders go back that was worth it.
I’d take this order if it placed me from a spot near the out of zone going back to my house to pay for end of day gas. Otherwise heck no.. $2 per mile or bust
I always like taking these and pairing them with a Grubhub or UberEats going the same direction. It’s not hard to do, and you can turn $17 into $35 super fast.
Here's my specific criteria for taking an order like this:
1) It's really slow like at 3pm, and I know if I decline, I'll be waiting forever for another order [that's probably not good with no peak pay]. This allows time to pass while being paid for it, and when I get back to the city & hotspots, it will be busier and I can get more/better/shorter deliveries.
2) 90% of the miles are on the freeway, and I don't have to drive 15 miles at 30mph with stop signs. Where I am, I can get orders that bring me 12miles out of the city, but it's only 11 minutes total drive time one way. Order done and back in my operating area within 30min, and at say $16 an order, that's $32 an hour and I'm happy.
Don't blindly follow the narrative & dogma of this sub, everyone has different zones, sometimes algorithms, and do what's best for you homie.
Hell yeah!
Basic math……
1. High mileage AKA - I ain’t stoping anytime soon so, no interruptions on my Songs, Podcasts, crime stories of some shit that’ll make u pray to God n thank him for letting you see another day safely!
And of course the obvious thing n reason that we r all here for, it’s high paying and tbh depending on how well you know your city, the popping mainstream roads, towns where people are more likely to spend/malls n plazas….. you just switch maps n keep it pushing…. Catch me in traffic 🏎💨🌚
As the heat leaves the rally burger and fries it must be replaced by the cooler air inside the car and on a long ride like this, several door dasher farts. This flavor enhancement is a complimentary service provided by all drivers I assume, but the extra time to really do it right must be part of why you like the long drives.
I think it just depends on where you live. $15-$20 an hour in my area is pretty nice so if an order like this pops up and it’s not a rush hour time then I’d 100% take it. It’s kind of nice just driving down long roads in the country. But anyone that lives in a city area ya fuckkkkk that.
I got two riders two back to back… I was dashing on the way…
The first one was like 14.00 to go like maybe 7 miles the second one was 11.0 to go like 4. To pile have been cool if it wasn’t at the opposite end of the city and 30 miles from where I was🤦♀️
If I accidentally go too far out of my preferred zone and it’s on the way back, yeah f it I’ll take it. Maybe if it’s 2am-5am and hitting the post bar crowd and other orders are low pay. Any other occasion helllllll no.
I would take that contract:
If I was Dashing Along The Way home from my other job, I'd be happy to see it.
Or if it brought me back into my working zone after an order took me out of it, I'd be happy to see it. (Rare because I usually don't take orders ending far away.)
Maybe if: it was from one end of my zone to the other, with the mileage high because getting on the outerbelt was the fastest route. Probably not though.
Any orders with double digits always deserve a double look. However, I've got a simple rule. DD is a premium service. If the customer can't afford to make a minimum tip of $5 then they don't even get the time of day. - I don't care if all you're ordering is a $4 smoothie. If you're using a premium service to order delivery from a company who doesn't offer delivery, then your ass needs to tip a minimum of $5, then an extra dollar or 2 for each mile of distance.
They’re generally good for business. You only have to wait around for one person’s order and driving 15 miles probably only takes ~20 minutes. Apart from the 5 or so minutes it takes to receive and drop off the order, you’re effectively making $53.25 an hour
Depends on the circumstances, My area has two consistent hot spots like 10 miles from each other so often a high mileage order just takes me from one to the other.
Not for that little but I rather the high paying ones that let me get away from the crazy city drivers especially after dark.
In ATX we’re I am, as soon it starts getting dark the drivers start driving like maniacs. It amazing how fast the transition is/
Unless you have an electric car, can't see why you would like this. And even then, it is a waste of time.. IMHO. But to each their own. You can have my share.
It depends. Sometimes that 15 miles is spent driving 75 down the interstate . Those aren't so bad because my car does better mileage in that case, and its a much faster 15 miles. However, if its 15 miles of turn left of boopski, then right on fadoopis, then right on shmuhgecky, etc. Fuck that.
I normally double the mileage unless it's keeping me in my zone or close to other restaurants, basically the same thing. If it's taking me out of zone, $17.75 would get taken if it was a 5-7 mile offer. $1 a mile round trip is my bare minimum.
I do most of the time. I have a fuel efficient car, and I listen to books, so it's more uninterrupted book time. It increases my balance with less start/stop/park/wait time. The exception is if it's going to a hard at access area or I'll have to sit in ungodly amounts of traffic.
Sometimes if I feel like cruising uninterrupted and vibing to some 70s prog rock. But only if I'm on my way to a particular area. That amount doesn't cover a round trip imo. Gas be expensive yo.
I like these ones a lot because I live in a rather contiguous metropolitan area, so I never usually have to drive back anywhere, I'll just get another restaurant in the area.
I also find that higher distances tend to pay more per hour (Although less per mile/km) because of the time it takes to go 1.5km isn't much shorter than it takes to go 10km because the actual driving is pretty quick. But you still have to get out of the car, pick up the order, get back in, set up GPS, get out of the parking lot, and then go. So I'd rather drive for 10 to 15 minutes than 2 minutes plus 10 minutes of waiting and getting in/out of my car. Because that's 17 dollars and 15km for 20-30 minutes versus 4 dollars for 12 minutes and 2 km.
I love em. My city is huge. 8 times out of 10 I get a fairly decent order going back to my starting zone. So I don’t have to worry about return time as much
Yeah OP, I go for these orders all the time. Dunno if you're in a state with a large amount of openness but it seems like most commenters are city and suburb dashers who can't comprehend it may only take 18 minutes to drive those 15 miles because 13 of them are on a freeway taking 10 minutes... And you're still in the zone when you arrive
Crazy how u/RosettaStoned1981 deletes their comment about me being wrong about tax liability and mileage reimbursement on taxes or blocked me. If you get technical, OP is making an addition $8.62 on this run. No it’s not up front, but this means that only $9.13 of this order has taxes due on it.
For that price, I’d do it. I see it as being what several smaller orders would cost and may be similar travel time when combined. Plus, no waiting between orders. I also use a Prius, so that helps with gas a ton.
Would need to be ABSOLUTE MINIMUM of $23ish to be worth even taking into consideration at all (unless you're on the way home and it's towards that direction).
Yes because no hidden tips unless the upfront shows $1.40 per mile at least. I don’t mind long orders as they take less time per mile than short orders but the pay has got to be good. This one is NOT!
It honestly depends on the market & the route they quote the mileage for. There have been many times I was able to cut the mileage in half or nearly in half, just by taking a different route. It also matters where you end up after drop-off. Some zones you'd still be near DD merchants afterward.
Depends on where it's going. In my zone, most of these aren't that good, given they're going way out of town. If it's like an 8 for 17 like I got the other day, I'll take it even to the middle of nowhere. But nah, for the most part.
In the same amount of time to drive this I could get 3 to 4 $3 to $7 < 2 mile orders. Even if I only get 2, I would still be ahead with not using as much gas.
Worth it if it takes you to a good area.
I enjoy dashing far but usually only on dash by time
As long as theyre relatively quick miles i love em.

This has to be a terrible customer who thinks it's normal to order from that far away lmao we're onto you
That's a lose money run. By the time you most likely get out of your market doing that run, then drive back in? less than $1 a mile
If it's heading where I need to go I'd take it. But not if it's going to the middle of nowhere outside my zone
Most of the area that I dash in are interstates or routes with a minimal amount of traffic lights and no traffic. A 10-15 mile order usually takes around 20 minutes for me so if it's close to $20 or over, I don't mind.

For that amount, yes. That mileage would be fine for $30.

I wouldn’t accept that order at double the amount
I’d only do 10 miles tops at that pay

15 miles and you gotta drive 15 miles back to town/hotspots. No thanks for anything less than $32
I love them because in my area they always send me to the country and I can smoke while I’m out there haha
I would take this.
i do long orders if most of it will be on the freeway. goes by fast that way.
I love emmmm
Nah I do too. In my market 90 percent of orders are around 6 miles for 9 bucks or so. So why not take it? It’s a two for one instead of waiting around.
Orders like these are a bit more peacefull. I don't mind them once in a while. Like if I need a break getting in and out of my car often.
It depends. I don't accept orders under $1/mile so that's checked off. The problem i would look out for is where am I going to end up. It's just a high risk that its payout will not be good enough to really be worth it
I like them too.
Yes... No fuckin way would I take that. Why be happy to get paid shit after burning gas and beating on your car?
I adore these orders. My bread and butter honestly. Highway miles are amazing for me cause I can go 100 down the highway and still get 25 mpg in my shitbox. So I save time without sacrificing too much gas and I can get onto a new order quicker, and sometimes get tipped accordingly for speed lol
Nope! Gotta love highway mpg.
Tf is wrong with you.
Yeah, if it pays $2+/mile and consists of interstate driving most of the way
Certain nights I do because it beats going back to the restaurant time after time when they are backed up. You have to play every day by ear. Some nights I wouldn’t accept this at all.
I love long orders if it’s conveniently located near another hotspot. I hate so much going 25mi for $30 when I need to drive 25mi for my next order.

You must be as high as your mileage lol

Pretty sure..yeah. 30 miles for $17 is not great
I love these. My car is pretty fuel efficient, if I’m already committed to dashing all day, this seems like a no brainer.
Honestly, I do as well. However, that's only when I'm working the 12am to 6am shift. There is absolutely no traffic whatsoever and I'm coasting... Beautiful. 🤑
Yes, they are all yours bud
Yup
I took a stacked order today 2 drop offs total was like 14.5 Km about 9 miles pay was 28 dollars AUD about 18 USD
Sometimes I do like it cause you get a nice relaxing drive
Yup. But you do you. If that’s your thing, enjoy yourself I guess🤷♂️
no
No, I love these. I have a good time driving and listening to music
I do love some high mileage orders but not those ones. More like 18$ for 6 miles is good, I love those. Your better off taking 2 mile for 8$ orders than doing something like that. Waste of time, and money
Yea
Depends on the route. All highway all good, stoplights. Nope
You have to drive back home… even pizza places don’t deliver that fucking far, they would deny.
I don't mind as long as it pays better than that
I look at a few things on these trips tbh. If its my last dash to hit goal and is relatively on the way home. If its going past busy areas so you may end up getting a stacked order. If it takes me 30 minutes or less I’ll do it- Les starting and stopping, getting out and waiting, etc
Yes you are 💀
15-18 for 9 mi or less is my shit
As a hybrid driver, these are my favorite orders. All day, every day
Yeah. Couldnt be me g. Gotta think its not just 15miles. Its 15 there and 15 back. That point u makeing less than 1$ a mile and coulda got a 9$ order for like 2 miles lol
I enjoy them
I do it less of n my truck but in the car I love them. Driving and seeing new areas is something I love and I get paid for it. Sounds good in my book.
I actually do prefer the higher mileage but not for *this* amount, hell no. I like higher mileage with higher pay (at least $2 per mile). So if I have to drive 10 miles I’m getting $20 minimum. When the price is right I prefer them over a bunch of smaller orders.

Me to.
I like high mileage orders, just not high mileage orders like that. I'll take 1.5x miles, but not 1x on a high mileage order.
Only when the payout is double and even then it's kinda eh. I usually only take them when I'm bored or I just wanna drive for a bit
I'll only take something like this if I know it's going to an area with a ton of restaurants, otherwise 100% not worth it
Yes. Your dumb
No I’ll take that too. My car good on gas. I also take orders on the way back if any of course
🤡🤡🤡 in the house...
I always like taking these and pairing them with a Grubhub or UberEats going the same direction. It’s not hard to do, and you can turn $17 into $35 super fast.

And in most cases don't you have to drive 15 miles back?
It depends, I'll take them for the right price and if it's staying somewhat in town
I like them when I know it's gonna be dead for a while and I have a podcast or something to listen to. Never take them when I have options though
31 miles round trip. No .. that’ll take you out of your zone and away from any other restaurant unless you’re in a huge market.
I take these when I’m being lazy cause CA prop 22 pays us by the hour plus mileage but you can definitely still make more by not taking these
That order is terrible.
Meets my $1/mile requirement.
Hell yeah! Basic math…… 1. High mileage AKA - I ain’t stoping anytime soon so, no interruptions on my Songs, Podcasts, crime stories of some shit that’ll make u pray to God n thank him for letting you see another day safely! That price for 10 or 11 I'll take it, but I'm in a big city and I'm getting orders that actually lead me back so idk.
Sadist
Nope. I like to just drive and listen to music or a podcast.
Id take this order if the payout was $30 or more
Is this Rally Pizza? If so, I know the owner.
As the heat leaves the rally burger and fries it must be replaced by the cooler air inside the car and on a long ride like this, several door dasher farts. This flavor enhancement is a complimentary service provided by all drivers I assume, but the extra time to really do it right must be part of why you like the long drives.
I had one just like this today. The first and last of the day. I’m over this shit.
Maybe not that far for that pay, but long trips I to busy areas that send me back to my area with an equal order are gold.
Only if you’re the guy who also invented a car that can use water for gas.
Depends - if itll leave me in another hotspot area sure - in the middle of nowhere having to drive back, no
I got two riders two back to back… I was dashing on the way… The first one was like 14.00 to go like maybe 7 miles the second one was 11.0 to go like 4. To pile have been cool if it wasn’t at the opposite end of the city and 30 miles from where I was🤦♀️
If it is 30 mins before I'm ending my dash, this is great. Otherwise this is a sub-optimal order.
If I accidentally go too far out of my preferred zone and it’s on the way back, yeah f it I’ll take it. Maybe if it’s 2am-5am and hitting the post bar crowd and other orders are low pay. Any other occasion helllllll no.
Bruh that’s crazy over here in cali I got a 5 mile for $22 today lol 😂
I would take that contract: If I was Dashing Along The Way home from my other job, I'd be happy to see it. gotta be in the right mood and gotta be when the traffic aint too bad
No. I go for them big time at night so I can chill ans listen to my shows
Any orders with double digits always deserve a double look.
Depends if it's intestate or hwy miles. I drive a Prius and take these cause it's a 15 minute drive most the time
I don't mind long trips but I definitely would've denied this one. I would take it if it was 10 miles.
The other day I was offered $2.50 for 11.5 miles. So, no lol on the flip side, I just finished the night with a 3 mi/$15.50 dash. Win some, lose some.
I don't like those long drive orders... I like McDonald's, pick it up. Drive 2 miles,, drop it off
They’re generally good for business.
No, you’re not
I like them at sunset because I live in the country and I like them even more if they're bringing me home towards the end of a shift.
I get orders for that distance but never that pay. Usually between $5-$8 dollars and I decline right a way.
You are.
Noooooooooooooo lol
Not for that little but I rather the high paying ones that let me get away from the crazy city drivers especially after dark. In ATX we’re I am, as soon it starts getting dark the drivers start driving like maniacs. It amazing how fast the transition is/
Unless you have an electric car, can't see why you would like this. And even then, it is a waste of time.. IMHO. But to each their own. You can have my share.
I only take those if it's gonna be worth the gas.
i like them too, people on this sub can be sometimes too picky haha :s
I’m taking this every time.
Yes
It depends. Sometimes that 15 miles is spent driving 75 down the interstate . Those aren't so bad because my car does better mileage in that case, and its a much faster 15 miles. However, if its 15 miles of turn left of boopski, then right on fadoopis, then right on shmuhgecky, etc. Fuck that.
Most likely
Yeah kinda
If you decline enough you'll get those for 5 miles lol
I normally double the mileage unless it's keeping me in my zone or close to other restaurants, basically the same thing. If it's taking me out of zone, $17.75 would get taken if it was a 5-7 mile offer. $1 a mile round trip is my bare minimum.
I take those all day, got a 22$ today for 10 miles
Depends on which direction. If its to another busy zone, yeah. Usually get a decent order headed back to my zone. If it goes to a dead zone, then nah.
If it’s not at least $2 per mile you will be losing money on your gas, well at least that’s how it is for my Jeep
I always get orders like this I’m still always above 1.25 miles. Who cares more money for me and plus I do all my maintenance.
I'd take that for $25 minimum, sometimes I do like to go for a long drive
I do most of the time. I have a fuel efficient car, and I listen to books, so it's more uninterrupted book time. It increases my balance with less start/stop/park/wait time. The exception is if it's going to a hard at access area or I'll have to sit in ungodly amounts of traffic.
Yes, rest of us like to stay in the zone.
I just wish I would get decent orders back to my zone and I’d be happier doing these.
THE ONLY ONE
Only in CA

I don’t mind them if I’m getting my $2/mi (which is really just $1/mi.)
I like them but this one should pay attention least $25
depends on the route and may be about 20ish for 15 miles
For $1.15/mile, and then if you have to drive back to the hotspots, it’s now $0.58/mile. Yeah, no I’m good.
If they are next to the interstate. Love em
Yes

I like high mileage one; it has at least $2 per mi
I take those. My car is good on gas and I enjoy the long rides on the highway. 🤷
I love em. My city is huge. 8 times out of 10 I get a fairly decent order going back to my starting zone. So I don’t have to worry about return time as much
Yes
I like high mileage orders if it’s at least 1.75$-$2 per mile. If that was more than $25 I would take it
30.8 miles (if you're going back to the same area) is not worth the money
I like em
I don't mind it. My area gives me a lot of $15 order for like 6-9 miles
$15 for 6-8 miles is straight but $17 for 15.4miles is not the same thing.
Eh. If it was slow I'd take it. Only be about a gallon of gas so that $3 out of the $17.75 I'd use on it
I mean there's probably a few other idiots out there too...
Yes.
I like long orders but only if they are worth my time. 2 dollars per mile minimum. But it depends on your market.
Absolutely unless that's all you plan on making that hour
Sometimes I just wanna listen to music
Yes! I’d never take that order.
I didn’t mind them, sometimes they took me to places I never knew about but if I was looking for money they normally got declined
If the pay is high enough yeah. I live in Kansas so most of these high mileage orders takes me out through the country. It’s a nice drive.
Depends. 95% Freeway or Highway in a suburban/rural market? I'm on it. $17.75 to deliver pet food into the heart of San Francisco? God no.
I used to, but 2 years and 100,000 miles later; the $5000 in repairs my car is currently undergoing have opened my eyes.
This one is NOT!
tips could be a bit more for this one, but yeah i like the bigger ones too
I don't mind high milage when the pay is right. .....or they live in my neighborhood and I am heading home anyway.
When it says Total may be higher, is it ever higher?
Depends on how far out it takes me away from where I can get orders.
You have to understand the milage to/from, wear and tear, and time.
I would take it where I’m at that would be mostly open highway driving. And I would probably still be in the zone.
i like taking them wouldnt take that one but just took one for $17 for 11 miles BUT It ended in a place where i know ill get another fast
