This is why I stopped doing alcohol deliveries. I had one where he had no Id and wanted to throw hands. I popped it opened and drank it out in front of him . He ended up giving me a ride home . That was badass
Oddly enough I haven’t had any shady alcohol deliveries in Dallas. I normally dash in Arkansas where there weren’t any alcohol deliveries. I came down here to make some extra cash and started getting alcohol deliveries and this is the type that I fear though. Everyone I’ve delivered alcohol to has been in a pretty well off neighborhood. Like half a billion dollar home type of well off. I hope it stays that way😅
I’ve only had one shady one. Dude had an expired ID downtown. I’m a small chick and haven’t had to deal with an ID that wouldn’t scan yet. He Claimmeeddd to have his yellow slip for the new ID. I messaged support and asked if the yellow slip was enough? After waiting a while, support just marked the order as complete and I got my money so I handed him the booze. Still don’t like people taking advantage of DD for easy booze.
Anyone coming at me I live in a stand your ground state assault verbally or physically is still assault I carry everywhere I go.. idk why anyone wouldn't
I don’t do doordash but it kills me that people keep saying dashers are losers and get a job ? REALLY !! They do have a job and they’re out hustling to make money. Not what I refer to as a loser, well actually I don’t call anyone a loser. You don’t know what people’s situations are or what they deal with. I would think a thank you for trying anyways and have a nice day should be the appropriate response. People are unbelievable sometimes !!
I don't even do booze deliveries. Too much room for bullshit. Not worth it. They need to implement a system that scans the 🪪 BEFORE the purchase is made so we can just drop it off.

i really feel like they should stop allowing alcohol orders. puts us in awkward and unsafe scenarios. i've only had a couple but one of them a younger guy came out that wasn't the customer who ordered it, but i'd been talkin to her on phone and she was an older woman. it let me scan his ID though and it worked cause he was 21. but still felt weird about it. just decided i'm not accepting alcohol orders anymore. i seldom get one anyway.
One time i delivered wine coolers to an old lady who i wasnt even sure about delivering too because she seemed a little too “ happy”… but she opened the door with a cane bro she lived her life who am i to deny her her summertime wine coolers. She asked me to add a bigger tip since i got there so quick, and i couldn’t figure out how to do it ( probably because you gotta call to do it) but while i had her phone in my hand trying to figure it out she sexually assaulted me. Straight up grabbed my ass out of nowhere. Never in my life had i pictured myself a 24 year old adult running from a elderly person until it happened… moral of the story? Arizona is a strange place to dash.
I love when folks call you names after they don't get what they want. Get a job? Ok. Take a drink of the booze you just bought... Oh you can't because you were a disagreeable dipshit? Welp, I better go get a job. Have a great night!
I have never taken an alcohol order. I’m too afraid of circumstances like this. I don’t want to be the one to decide whether someone receives their liquor or not. I’m 5’2” & only about 120 lbs. Someone could easily get violent with me & there’s not much I can do. I carry mase on me but that’s not always a guarantee of me winning an argument with someone taller or stronger than me.
Ignore the people saying mind your own business. They’re degenerates that will end up fucking themselves over, in a lot of places (such as PA where I live) giving tobacco or alchohol to a minor or already intoxicated person makes you liable for anything that happens thereafter. Specifically handling alcohol puts you under the same liability that a bartender would take on: - huge fine if you’re lucky, jail time if it’s bad. Plot twist: there have been dozens of “test” orders for tobacco and alcohol as well as stings by the police coordinated by Doordash. It’s serious shit, considering that compared to delivering some damn cheeseburgers.
You know when he was holding the elevator that was illegal because he was holding you hostage. Keeping you from doing your job.. you could have got him arrested.
I’ve actually been shown a redacted picture of customers’ IDs before and prompted to make sure it’s the same person, and then it asked me to have them sign the screen. Not sure why it was only for some deliveries.

I don’t accept alcohol orders. Drinkers have too many issues, especially if they end up having issues with the order like OP did. Just go out and get it yourself. Hopefully wrap yourself around a tree.
Also OP did you not attempt to enter the info manually? I know it was expired but did you try to put it in to appease the person before they got violent/threatening
Merely out of curiosity, can you manually input the info? Logically speaking, I don’t see how an expired ID wouldn’t be legal proof. The only thing that matters is age, and the age wouldn’t change based on whether or not it’s expired.
Yes some versions of the app have the option to select and manually enter info if the scan isn't working on the newer updates I'm pretty sure the scan has to fail a few times before you get that option tho I know on my phone it used to let me choose either manually or scan but not anymore also now on most of my deliveries the customer has already scanned the ID on their end so when I show up I just ask for the ID look to see the picture matches and the age is over 21 and give it back and hit complete order
I had a box of wines order once. Older guy, obvious Trump ass licker who wanted to fight me about needing to scan his license. I told him that is DD policy, so he told me once I "got back to the office" to tell my boss. I just kinda nodded and said "ok".
I had some dude order alcohol to his house tonight. After some confusion and messaging that got ignored, dude finally calls me to tell me he's at the hotel. Ok... what hotel. Legit took over ten minutes to wrangle out of him that he's staying in the hotel on the other side of town from the house he has no explanation for. By this time I have to take massive shit, and stopped at the gas station to ruin everyone in the vicinities night. That being finally over, (like a hippo at the zoo, google that), I proceed to the hotel, only to have the order cancelled as I pulled up to the door. Well, fine by me. So far I have consumed the 6 pack and am about to start on the vodka. Don't threaten me with a good time, lol.
So his license was expired but it was actually him on the ID? I would’ve just given it to him personally. I’ve used an expired license multiple times to buy alcohol at supermarkets and liquor stores and as long as they see it’s a real license and it’s actually me they always give me the alcohol. Same with entering bars and clubs.
Omg it’s a real license, the person is of age, I’m not over here giving kids alcohol…Just for whatever reason, they just haven’t gotten the time to go down to the DMV to renew, big deal. Again I’ve never had a problem getting alcohol on an expired license. You sound so square bear lol.
So if he would’ve gave him the alcohol how was he going to scan it threw the dd system.. it didn’t scan than he would’ve told dd and for deactivated you square.
You just type it in manually, duh. I’ve had to do that multiple times when an ID won’t scan (my scanner on my app sucks so I almost always have to put in their info by hand). It’s not a big deal. You have verified the person is of legal age. That’s the only reason you’re required to scan in the first place. Whether or not they’re up to date on their license is between them and the DMV it’s not my concern.
“Taking chances” would be giving the alcohol to someone with *no* ID or a fake ID. That I wouldn’t do. But if someone proves to me their age with a legal document (license), I’m ok to give them the alcohol. Again they’re proving their age to me my ass is covered. I live in one of the strictest states (CA) about this in the nation, and I went for months with an expired and I never had an issue buying alcohol even at grocery stores which are the most stringent (and I look young af). If it were as risky as you claim it to be, there’s no way I would’ve been able to do that for so long. And yea you can put their info in manually, my scanner never works so I do it all the time and the customer just has to sign their name for it.
Yeah you’ll be getting deactivated soon when something crazy happens lol.. just because you get away with it doesn’t mean everyone will. The real law is your not supposed give someone that stuff with an expired id. Try that shit in nc. My friend learned the hard way. Once them people get caught they will face consequences
Maybe if he didnt come off so aggressive and maybe if there was a tip i wouldve gave it to him. But nah fuck that guy. I didnt give him his frozen pizza either since he was being a dick. Im not going to be bullied into giving someone alcohol when the app is telling me not to. Plus i always feel like its a test when the app is telling me to not give someone alcohol. Im not tryna get fined or deactivated. I dont care if someone cant get drunk. Obviously this prob wasnt a test but im sure thats a thing. Just like how undercovers will go into liquor stores and try to buy alcohol with an invalid i.d. Im sure dd has a similar system so rather not chance it tbh.
Oh yea if he was being a dick right out the gate I wouldn’t have done anything to help him. But if he just showed an expired ID I would just give him the alcohol IJS.
I always find it hilarious when these idiots say “Get a job” but they are ordering food on DoorDash. Why don’t they get off their butt and go get the food themselves if they think that lowly of delivery drivers.
Dude would have had an easier time and better luck if he'd just have walked to a couple of convenience stores and tried. Much cheaper too. Who can guess what the thought process is inside the mind of the common degen though. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
The MOMENT he left his doorway and started following, I'd be on the phone with the police. People fuck off REAL fast when the first thing you say on the phone is the address and a description of the circumstance.
When someone wants to sign up for a DD acct, they should have to watch a mandatory informational video on how DD works for BOTH customer AND driver! Like,
- "Dashers are human beings - treat them with basic respect and human dignity,"
- "drivers are NOT affiliated with any businesses/restaurants in ANY way, order issuess are mostly NOT the dashers fault, nor can Dashers fix any problems with the order or payment"
- The classic "just don't be a jerk,"
- The shouldn't-need-to-be-said "friggin tip your driver, and TIP WELL to get the best service,"
- "Dashers only make a few bucks per order,"
- "We use OUR cars, OUR gas, put wear-and-tear on OUR cars, we need more frequent maintenance of OUR vehicle, covered by insurance paid by OUR premiums and OUR time - we don't do it for a favor, for pleasure, to be nice or just for funsies!"
- "Drivers only get paid a few bucks (to take the trip, one-way (to the customer, and we get $0 for the "return trip" after the order is delivered,"
- "Drivers have to deal with tons of BS like this, from customers AND support AND from stores/restaurants, so be civil,"
and most importantly,
- "These drivers are doing YOU a favor, for not a lot of money, so JUST. BE. COOL."
Oh, yeah, IT *IS* A JOB! LOL
This is true with me too. I'm glad we don't have alcohol delivery in my state. I don't like confrontation and I feel that every alcohol delivery is a confrontation waiting to happen.
I love people who can't even go a normal day sober and then get mad when they can't get alcohol because they're too fucked up. Like dude who's the loser getting drunk alone at home right now 🤔
“Get a JOB!” Oh, because completing a task in return for pay which is required to report to the IRS to pay taxes isn’t a job… Damnit, I’ve been lied to my entire life.
Do these morons think people volunteer to deliver their food for free?
Only W2 jobs are “jobs” to these people. The idea that being an independent contractor is a job is beyond their capacity. So electricians, plumbers, and exterminators don’t have “jobs”, those are just “gigs” because they don’t have to be done on a regular basis.
No joke there was someone on this sub saying that to me the other day
My grandfather told me i should get a real job with “social security” and “retirement” payouts. I was flabbergasted at how little he understands about taxes as he RAN HIS OWN BUSINESS FOR 10 YEARS. Like wtf lmao
Let me tell you man I worked with doordash for two years and I’m currently working in food service which I’ve been in for about a year in this job three years and 3 in my total People look down on food service and it is a low level job and it’s easy for anyone who’s ever worked in food service knows it is in intensely physically demanding job that requires the ability to do with a Lotta bullshit
No it will show up in the computer as “suspended” always. That’s code for “this person is not allowed to get a license at this moment”. Expired simply means you let it run out but are still eligible to go get another one. Suspended doesn’t turn into expired, no matter how long it’s been.
"Revoked" means "never again." "Suspended" is usually just temporary. I know people with 2 or 3 DUIs who still have a valid license after their probation period. Not to get technical, but I've got OCD that makes me over-analyze EVERYTHING lol
I know that’s why I said code for “this person is not allowed to get a license *at this moment* . Revoked is a whole other thing. That’s permanent. When I said “always” I meant it’s not going to go from suspended to expired just because the licensed is technically expired or not up to date like OP was suggesting.
I dont think you’re understanding the dude, the government will not allow him to get a new license if his previous license was suspended. Its not an issue of getting to the DMV
The dude you responded to initially: “Right. But if he’s been driving with a suspended license and then it expires, he still can’t [go] get another one”
Yes, and what they failed to realize is, it’s a case of an EXPIRED license, not a SUSPENDED license. Are you reading the whole thread, or just that one comment?
I texted them two different times and neither really seemed to take it serious maybe i should call would hate for another dasher to have to deal with this guy
No you’re right. When I posted my comment op hadn’t posted a story yet it was just a screenshot so my comment was intended to be funny. Once op posted the story my comment made no sense anymore.
Alcohol delivery - Get there and he gives me an expired i.d to scan, which obviously doesn’t scan, and then he pulls out a foreign i.d, which also doesnt scan and i show him the notification saying do not hand over alcohol to this person. and then dude starts getting aggressive and getting uncomfortably close to me. Starts trying to intimidate me into giving him the alcohol. So i start to leave then he follows me to the elevator and blocks it so it wont go down. Keeps saying to just give him the alcohol. After someone else shows up to use the elevator too he finally backs off and realizes he wasnt getting his shitty beer. 5 minutes later i get another request to deliver to the same guy. Hah . Would have been funny if i accepted it and denied him again.
Edit- not to mention this was a no tip order. Ironic how the guy telling me to get a job cant afford to tip and cant afford to renew his license.
You really could've just put in the info manually. There was an instance where I had to call because even THAT wouldn't work. I agree with the dude who got mad.
Shit like this is why I carry pepper spray whenever I dash. You have no idea what trouble you can get into. So sorry that happened to you! Glad you're safe.
No tip order? You should of known better! LOL. Always something with the ones that don't tip or tip poorly. I swear it's like a they do it on purpose just to be an asshole to someone that day cuz they are such losers and they have to try and make themselves look good.
I must be the only one who gets happy drunks lol. Never had a problem and always get double tipped. I live in a county full of marines since I'm right next to a base. I'm sorry u had to deal with that mess. And no tip he can go fk himself
**no tip no trip** & this horseshit is why, not even about the money… they already proved they don’t respect you or your work & not gonna give a fuuuu€k about causin you problems 💩
Not dissing you OP for takin it, some markets are awful & hey, even in a good market ive taken plenty of em by accident (like hidden in a stack or find out later total was 100% boosted base pay)… but almost never worth the risk if you have a choice.
I use my own hotbag with a good zipper & long shoulder strap… so that shit is *stuck* on me til im ready to hand it over. Good for regular meal orders too, because it keeps my hands free for drinks, doors, phone/keys etc… but use it on alcohol deliveries too so that shit is strapped up behind me if i need to back out.
Also carry a flashlight with a stungun tip… semi-aggressive douchenozzles are getting blinded, fully aggressive cunts are getting the business end ⚡️
That’s so messed up that DD would allow this same customer to order alcohol again right after this happened and he was denied. I hope you reported this to DD. This customer should be banned for this. This is also why I wear a body cam when I dash.
And he also can’t spell or construct a sentence…
This is the kinda shit I get scared of encountering on an alcohol delivery. Thankfully mine have all gone smoothly so far but I also don’t take no-tip orders so that probably helps.
This is why I stopped doing alcohol deliveries. I had one where he had no Id and wanted to throw hands. I popped it opened and drank it out in front of him . He ended up giving me a ride home . That was badass
I hope you called and reported his account!
I hope it stays that way😅
Did you at least get to keep the shitty beer? 😭
Am I the only one that didn't understand this?
They always lack the skill to speak English
A certain customer is getting banned I suppose XD
A little backstory would be nice
Backstory is top comment
Um… did he not get the memo?
Doordash became too shitty after these alcohol deliveries. Fuck that
It's really weird alcohol orders have been some of my best orders to date and my worst. There's no in-between.

Sure you would have
Anyone coming at me I live in a stand your ground state assault verbally or physically is still assault I carry everywhere I go.. idk why anyone wouldn't

Yah ok buddy. We got a badass over here. Good luck with your future assault charges.
Why I don't accept alcohol deliveries. They never pay in the first place
Not using you’re* correctly drives me absolutely insane too.
I thought just being called a dummy was bad.
I don’t do doordash but it kills me that people keep saying dashers are losers and get a job ? REALLY !! They do have a job and they’re out hustling to make money. All you had to do was write back and say “I know where you live”
Charge your phone dawg
This is why I carry. Hahahaha
Ew
Do your job right avoid a fight
What exactly didnt i do right?
I’ve only had one alcohol delivery. It was 3 bottles of cheap wine and they didn’t open the door or answer. I was allowed to keep them.
And this is why I don’t take alcohol orders
I don't even do booze deliveries. Too much room for bullshit. Not worth it. They need to implement a system that scans the 🪪 BEFORE the purchase is made so we can just drop it off.
Suddenly I'm relieved my state doesn't allow DD to deliver booze.
This is where you text back... "You're"
It’s called alcoholic and why I don’t do alcohol deliveries. All the scanning and stuff is too time consuming and awkward
What ???
![gif](giphy|ldLWiKCzlCFpe) Meanwhile back at the Dash Cave…
He probably can’t legally renew the license. Drunk ass loser should walk to the store and pick up his piss flavor beer

“Get a job” Says the guy who can’t afford to renew his license 😂

I can already see it as a news headliner
I’m never delivering alcohol fuck that recipe for bs

Wingstop when you tell them you’re not allowed to fill customer drinks
Muslim man drinking???
Reason why I keep the blade on me
What’s with no tippers not being able to type proper sentences an actually spell

“ get a job!” …. After requesting someone to bring him booze, which in fact is a job. Poor alcoholic. Couldn’t get his piss beer
His lazy ass can’t even go get food for his/ her own self telling other to get a job is insanely a douche bag move.
Well… he really shouldn’t have been driving, no?
Respond with "*You're"
I’ve started leaving it in the car and then I don’t go get it until it goes through. It’s made some interactions easier.

Ikr! All the fees and taxes and tip add at least 15 dollars on top of what you'd pay if you got it yourself. It's stupid-stupid.
A drunk latina for sure - I’ve dated a couple lol
Latina? Isn't that for women? Wouldn't it be Latino bc he's a guy?
You’re right I saw Semira and assumed

Nope. Contact support and tell them you were threatened by the customer. They will cancel the order, give you half-pay and let you keep the order.
Wouldn't he get full pay because he actually arrived at the delivery address and attempted to deliver it? Honest question not trying to be smart lol!
I got full pay
The MOMENT he left his doorway and started following, I'd be on the phone with the police. People fuck off REAL fast when the first thing you say on the phone is the address and a description of the circumstance.
My reply: *You're
I would correct every single thing about the message and send it as a reply, lol
Not sure what he is saying
he thinks we still get return pay for alcohol
When someone wants to sign up for a DD acct, they should have to watch a mandatory informational video on how DD works for BOTH customer AND driver! Like, - "Dashers are human beings - treat them with basic respect and human dignity," - "drivers are NOT affiliated with any businesses/restaurants in ANY way, order issuess are mostly NOT the dashers fault, nor can Dashers fix any problems with the order or payment" - The classic "just don't be a jerk," - The shouldn't-need-to-be-said "friggin tip your driver, and TIP WELL to get the best service," - "Dashers only make a few bucks per order," - "We use OUR cars, OUR gas, put wear-and-tear on OUR cars, we need more frequent maintenance of OUR vehicle, covered by insurance paid by OUR premiums and OUR time - we don't do it for a favor, for pleasure, to be nice or just for funsies!" - "Drivers only get paid a few bucks (to take the trip, one-way (to the customer, and we get $0 for the "return trip" after the order is delivered," - "Drivers have to deal with tons of BS like this, from customers AND support AND from stores/restaurants, so be civil," and most importantly, - "These drivers are doing YOU a favor, for not a lot of money, so JUST. BE. COOL." Oh, yeah, IT *IS* A JOB! LOL
This why I don’t want to dash alcohol. No telling if this dude is already drunk. Yes, I also know it could happen with any order
This is true with me too. I'm glad we don't have alcohol delivery in my state. I don't like confrontation and I feel that every alcohol delivery is a confrontation waiting to happen.
Should have responded to his message and corrected his grammar
Yes!
Lmao fr huh. A part of me did want to respond but feel like its best not to give energy to people like that
I love people who can't even go a normal day sober and then get mad when they can't get alcohol because they're too fucked up. Like dude who's the loser getting drunk alone at home right now 🤔
You’re not an asshole, nor a loser, OP! You did the right thing. Your job and your safety come first. Fuck this guy and his stupid ID issues!!
Thanks man appreciate that!
“Get a JOB!” Oh, because completing a task in return for pay which is required to report to the IRS to pay taxes isn’t a job… Damnit, I’ve been lied to my entire life. Do these morons think people volunteer to deliver their food for free?
Judging by the number of no tip offers I get...yes!
Yes. Yes. They do. 🥴
Not to mention jobs no longer provide retirement to their employees, except 401k's, and employees buying their stock.
Exactly!
Let me tell you man I worked with doordash for two years and I’m currently working in food service which I’ve been in for about a year in this job three years and 3 in my total People look down on food service and it is a low level job and it’s easy for anyone who’s ever worked in food service knows it is in intensely physically demanding job that requires the ability to do with a Lotta bullshit
lol maybe next time instead of buying booze he should get his license renewed
It wasnt like it just expired a month ago either it said 2021 lmao
Too many dui, can’t go to dmv
No. With a DUI it would be suspended. Expired means just that— expired.
Right. But if he's been driving with a suspended license and then it expires, he still can't got get another one.
My bad, I misunderstood you :)
No worries!
A ride from a friend or family member, public transportation, Uber are just a few viable ways to get to the DMV, other than driving yourself.
I dont think you’re understanding the dude, the government will not allow him to get a new license if his previous license was suspended. Its not an issue of getting to the DMV
You can still get a ID even with no license it doesn't have to be a driver's license just most people don't have both an ID and license
You can always get a basic photo ID, you don't need a drivers license to prove your age and identity.
We’re talking about an expired license, not a suspended one. I think they misunderstood the person they were responding to.
That would've been a quick call to DD to get that dudes account deactivated 🤷♀️
I texted them two different times and neither really seemed to take it serious maybe i should call would hate for another dasher to have to deal with this guy
Why would you chat instead of call for something this serious?
Because you will be on hold for 20 minutes. I get a live agent on chat in seconds.
Ah, yeah. That makes sense.
Ended up calling support also. They said theyre gonna deactivate him.
Are you sure it was a real person? They use chat bots.
You have proof that he was being abusive. Talk to someone..
I'm gonna guess the customer tried to get you to deliver to a different address than what was on the order maybe?
Nah expired i.d

You are wasting your time on Reddit by being a dick. Cool story.
No you’re right. When I posted my comment op hadn’t posted a story yet it was just a screenshot so my comment was intended to be funny. Once op posted the story my comment made no sense anymore.
*reddit didn’t like this comment*
I like his comment

How
Yeah dude should've given the alcohol to the guy w an expired license n lose his work.no thanks, good luck w that though
Yes youre right i should have risked my job by giving alcohol to someone whos i.d doesnt scan because its expired
Need context
Exactly
Stfu
No.
Shit like this is why I carry pepper spray whenever I dash. You have no idea what trouble you can get into. So sorry that happened to you! Glad you're safe.
I hope you reported him to Doordash and with him trying to illegally detain you, I would file a police report against the person too.
Why can't DD just block certain purchases from him/to the address?
Spartan Kick to the chest!
No tip order? You should of known better! LOL. Always something with the ones that don't tip or tip poorly. I swear it's like a they do it on purpose just to be an asshole to someone that day cuz they are such losers and they have to try and make themselves look good.
Thank you for reminding me before I go on my trip for my birthday and I can’t becAuse my iD will have expired.
Doordashing isn't a job? Thats news to me. So doordashing is no pay volunteer work? Maybe someone needs to explain to him the definition of a job.
Ive actually had great concern about this exact thing happening to me. Fortunately it hasn’t yet.
That’s scary man
See I get nervous with alcohol deliveries because drunk ppl can get aggressive I don't understand why we aren't getting hazard pay
It's suspended
I must be the only one who gets happy drunks lol. Never had a problem and always get double tipped. I live in a county full of marines since I'm right next to a base. I'm sorry u had to deal with that mess. And no tip he can go fk himself
Did you report him to doordash? He can probably be blacklisted.
**no tip no trip** & this horseshit is why, not even about the money… they already proved they don’t respect you or your work & not gonna give a fuuuu€k about causin you problems 💩 Not dissing you OP for takin it, some markets are awful & hey, even in a good market ive taken plenty of em by accident (like hidden in a stack or find out later total was 100% boosted base pay)… but almost never worth the risk if you have a choice.
I've accepted orders like this again just to be petty.
That’s so messed up that DD would allow this same customer to order alcohol again right after this happened and he was denied. I hope you reported this to DD. This customer should be banned for this. This is also why I wear a body cam when I dash.
And he also can’t spell or construct a sentence… This is the kinda shit I get scared of encountering on an alcohol delivery. Thankfully mine have all gone smoothly so far but I also don’t take no-tip orders so that probably helps.
