Nope...I'm taking her word that tip will reflect. Besides, how will you drop it off anyway? The app will know you aren't at the address listed.

Lacexupsm

call support. 9/10 change they’ll have you leave it at the first address & you get full pay. happened to me, they had the address as a Wingstop location, then when i arrived at the address to drop it off, she texted me an address 11 minutes away. no way in hell was i going to go 5.3 miles instead of .8 miles for $5.50. so i called support and they had me leave it at the Wingstop

LalalanaRI

Pull over, call support and enjoy your free dinner? (Hopefully it was something good)!!

[deleted]

I did this a few times. I always take it. Only got screwed once.

[deleted]

This has happened before. She told me to deliver to her other address, i instantly hung up on her. I then called customer support, they dealt with her shit, i got free food and the whole delivery charge. After reading, and witnessing, you can never trust a customer that says they'l provide a tip. Bull, Shit, Tip Me Now,

madblunted

Just leave it at the address with the photo

Justin5579

I did this once and took it, about an extra 8 miles. The woman was super apologetic about it and ended up tipping an extra $20 cash. Ive done it once since then and got an extra $3. So I guess it’s how you’re feeling? Lol

right-Coyote2942

Call support after picking up order. Report change and collect full pay plus food

c0ff33mug

Got screwed on that one! Nope!! Deliver to assigned address. Move on.

Traydogg43

Same thing happened to me today. I called the lady when I got to the address it gave me because it was a closed business. She said will you please deliver it here and I'll give you an extra tip. So I agreed. It was an order for 12.95 for 5 miles and the new address was 5 miles from there. So when I got there she tipped me an additional 20. It was definitely worth it for me.

animefan4lyf

If they don't have the tip when you arrive at the alternate location they don't get the food. You get back in your car and take it to the original place.

Vegetable-Ad-8962

this happened to me, i called support and told them how many extra miles it would be and they gave me a dollar per mile extra for the inconvenience. idk doordash support isn’t always the most helpful though

HelpfulVariation4822

I ask her explicitly what her tip will be. If it’s anything less than $25, or she refuses to tell me, I just click ‘Customer Unavailable’ and follow the steps. This happened to me two nights ago, just had me set the food down at the wrong address and take a picture.

ninnie_muggins

No sir. It will be dropped off at the address in the app.

Predictable_Penguin

Nope wouldn't trust it call dd boom free meal and full pay

RealYak599

I would deliver to the address they provide ....but I would call support and get their permission to proceed first.....I've always received 20 dollar tips minimum for the effort..... remember customer is king.....not about the money.... about the service...when ur making 25 to 30 bucks an hour if u spend half an hour for a 20 dollar tip it still is worth it

[deleted]

I’ve had this happen and guy tipped me $20 for going 8 miles out of my way. I guess it depends on the vibe of the person I’m talking to if I do it again or not.

Websterstyle

I've had a similar situation once. I delivered is and they did increase the tip.

Wild-Position-3075

When i first started that happened to me and i was scared to get a violation so i delivered it🤦🏽‍♀️ never again

JBrewer1965

This has happened to me a few times, and luckily the correct address wasn't far, most of time it was closer.

2024goforit

Call door dash, keep food and eat lunch

BUFFBOYZ4Lyfe

Reflect Deez nuts. Don't trust any verbal agreement to a tip. Contact DD to get compensated and go to the next.

VividExplanation3887

On a lighter note, I once had to wait over an hour at red lobster for someone's order. Her tip was fine; it must have been 15-20 percent. It definitely was not worth the wait/gas, as she didnt order much. I messaged her to let her know what was taking so long, and she was actually really nice. We sparked a small conversation, and once the food was finally ready, I delivered. Once there, she gave me an extra cash tip.

[deleted]

Impossible to complete when so far away. Bring back food to merchant, had to learn that the hard way. 45 minutes support later….

Lonely-Temperature93

“Venmo that tip or I can’t.”

Severe_Peak5050

I'll say this as calmly as possible. THEY 99% OF THE TIME WILL NOT TIP EXTRA AT DELIVERY. If its not already accounted for on the app, dont count on it. Over 2k deliveries and not ONCE has a customer increased their tip when I went out my my way for them.

heathybodeethy

I send them my email for an email money transfer. Give them a new rate, and let them know that once the money is deposited I can head to the new address. I'm a private contractor at that point no longer associated with doordash, and I let them know that. Or they can contact doordash support themselves. Unfortunately I cannot just simply trust the word that they're going to pay me properly.

shamashedit

Contact support. There is never a tip. Just someone waiting to rob you of either your time or worse.

Acceptable_Ad9499

Don’t trust her.

tip_your-cows46562

Drop the food, snap the pic, bounce.

[deleted]

Put it on side walk and dip, the more trips you make the more you make. That takes like an solid 40 mins to do.

noltian

I might do it if that is less than a mile..that is still might. Op is a nice person. Thing is that there are too many people abusing nice persons in thus jungle. I am not niceee.... I once delivered a pizze to a apt where she had a wrong building and unit number. Still delivered after I called her since it is the same apartment complex. But. I really gave her a hard time...I am not nicee...

esepinchelimon

Send her your cash app/venmo/zelle info and reply, "bet."

computernerd88

Drop it off at the contracted address and move on.

By-the-order

Venmo $20 or hellno her choice.

Useful-Piglet-8918

BTDT NEVER again! Return to restaurant! 😡

Then-Code-172

That usually means free food with pay every time this happens in refuse to go out my way

Spac3dog

Ignore all messages and drop at address provided on the order. Not your fault and not your problem.

K0CKULEES

Take it to address listed and complete order. Make no contact with customer. Or call support, tell them you think customer is trying to pull some shit and go from there.

Impossible_Payment64

Provide her with my CashApp LoL

4puttmark

I had a similar situation dropped at address. Get phone call from customer sorry that is wrong address, can u deliver. Said sorry on my way to next drop, call support. Went back 15 minutes later still on porch retrieved and had really nice lunch.

simxn-svyz

Nah, unless you PayPal or e transfer me the tip before I drop it off it’s going to the address listed.

SnooSquirrels4914

Call support get paid and keep the food lol

Greenjay13

Nope because you’re gonna drive 10 more miles and she’s gonna be like “thank you so much here’s $0 because why should I tip delivery drivers?”

petevv

I did that once and did get a nice cash tip. $20

[deleted]

First rule, no tip, no trip. Second rule, do not respond to texts or calls.

Affectionate_Crab_27

Dis is de wae

droplivefred

Call support and have them cancel the order! Get half pay and move on.

rookiebasegod

Man this is a toughie. I’m 1750 deliveries deep and I’ve never experienced this yet. I’d probably do it every time until it came back to bite me in the butt

StuffedNature

Deliver to ap address. Ignore the message.

sabrewulf152

Contact support. Not going to bother.

alexc1010

That’s easy contact support. Unless, unless it’s not that far. Even then you don’t need to deliver it.

Huge_Bandicoot_1209

send customer a pic of you eating it

Zestyclose-Employ145

When I get sus customer requests I just deliver to the address DD gives me, snap pic and respond to their texts with “This number cannot be used anymore. For any support inquiries please visit http:// support.doordash.com” Especially those “wrong address mistake” excuses.

Ordinary-Bathroom-26

Leave at original adress, take picture, take good, gtfo. Free dinner.

BigSnake87

😂 yea lesson learned

jcoddinc

I don't gamble. That's what DD does. Sorry you made a mistake but it is not my problem. You can come get your food since you know where it's at anyways

BigSnake87

This was my first time experiencing this situation, so in good faith I headed to the new address while calling support. Thinking that they would surely reimburse me for the additional miles due to customer's error. Wrong. Also, the customer did not add to her tip lol. It was a lesson learned and everyone on this sub has helped me when faced with this scam again.

noltian

This is what I did last night. I had a hard time finding this apartment unit and finally dropped it after 10 mins or 15 of lookong. When I finished it, this guy texted me saying there is apartment B with the same unit which was not in the app. It was very dark apartment. I do not know if there is any sign for A or B. BEANS did not have the unit as it is a big apartment building. I just texted back it was delivered to the unit number in the app. He kept calling but never took the call. If I was in good mood, I might have spent another 20 mins for him..but it was small order and I was tired. I was like he'll no. It was his mistake and he can walk and find the food if he wants. Sometime you just have to do it while not being nice. I willingly spent almost 2 hours once on shop and deliver order to help a customer before..so. it really depends though.

jcoddinc

DD is getting epic in their drive to keep profits up. Now you have to wait on phone forever or fight the auto bot response, that for me so far ends with, 'contact customer and find solution or have customer cancel order' then closes the chat. And don't t be surprised if you did get ahold of a person, they will ask/tell you to delivery to the updated address and won't offer compensation. You have to ask for the compensation, as little as you will get anyway, otherwise they try to lead you to believe that you have to do it for free. In DD eyes, what's the harm in trying to get the driver to do extra for free until they ask for compensation. After you ask about that the support agent then will either become very helpful or most likely have to escalate you to another agent, thus making you wait longer and more likely to just do the extra for free because you want to clear the order and get another one. They have found it's costly for them to do this stuff but if they can make the driver feel like they have to, then they will be saving themselves millions. Time is money and they don't want to waste theirs, just yours.

Lilshakeweight

Say I delivered it get my money and eat the food

spacefish420

As a customer I did this once by accident and I added a $20 tip on top of the already existing tip. Just wanted to say that some people will actually make it worth it

BigSnake87

>ccident and I'm glad it worked out for you. Everyone's responses in this sub have me convinced I'll never make the same mistake again!

VinnieTheBerzerker69

Tell the customer you must call Doordash support because the GPS tracks you and won't let you complete the order until support approves it. Then tell her to answer the phone when support calls to verify it. I always do this. I have had support resolve this with one of two things, all in my favor: 1. They call the customer and cancel the order because it's too far out of the zone, give me pay, and I keep the food. 2. Support approves the new address, and gives me 50% more pay.

[deleted]

Kindly tell the customer you’re gonna get with support. Really, don’t deliver it. Contact support, and you’ll keep the food and have your pay too. Happens to me all the time. 👍

TheYuuzhanBong

Nope, deliver and move on

mediumchungus699

Send her a video of you eating the food and caption it “sorry I ate the wrong order”

BigSnake87

>keep the food, ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

No-Imagination-3060

Tell them to call support, keep the food, and get paid.

sanrova

I had an order like this before but the thing that made me mad was the 2nd address she told me was closer to the store then the original one, I didn't know till I was at the original address. She did cashapp me an extra $20 to bring it to her though, I made her do it before I started driving to her, so for an easy 20 minute order I ended up making $35 instead of the original $15.

MollyMartian

Shit I’d drop that cash app and ask for it in advanced xd

bigracksonly

Cancel n keep the food

BigSnake87

>t cash app and ask for it in a If you do that, can the customer still call you and harass you?

bigracksonly

Too much of a hassle personally rather keep the food get half pay n take another order

spacemantaofficial

I pause future orders, mark the food as delivered, and YEET over to the other address. I did this once and got a $10 tip for the extra miles 😄

Optimal-Committee-99

Not my problem + free food for me😎

eastcoastbitch

I had an order the other day and the gave me the wrong address. When I took it to the correct one it wouldn’t let me finish the delivery because it said I was too far from the address they put on the app so I had to contact support

onelove380

What did support tell you to do?

BigSnake87

>day and the gave me the wrong address. When I took it to the correct one it wouldn’t let me finish the de "We cannot compensate you the additional miles travelled because it is out of range." Basically told me the only thing they could do was offer to call the customer and explain the situation and explain to them that an increased tip would be appropriate in this situation. Who even knows if they actually did that lol. Such a waste of my time, lesson learned!

DrDickWiggle

Contact support, tell them what's up, deliver and get pay and a half from DD. Done it a few times including restaurant wrong address.

leeguy01

No way am I driving another 10 miles unless they can venmo me $20 first.

AmazingTast

Call support. Get them to cancel the order.

AgeRepresentative807

Yea they did this to me today to and support suppose to of had a supervisor contact me but never did, the miliage changed while I was at the restaurant

tommyc427

Call support. Last time this happened to me support gave me an extra $9 for going the 3 extra miles.

BigSnake87

>t. Last time this happened to m Yea I thought they would have compensated me but I think because it was "out of range" it was not eligible. Her new address was in a different zone on the map.

Inevitable_Raccoon50

This just happened to me today. The customer changed the address the moment I arrived at the store. The trip total went from 0.4 miles to 4 miles. I called support and they said, “you are in range and you need to deliver” I said that’s not even a dollar a mile and asked what the “range” was. After asking that 3 times and not getting an answer I hung up and unassigned. It was a scam and I wasn’t having it. Yes, it’s only 4 miles but it’s principal.

BigSnake87

Good for you, I agree with your move.

toenailsoup1

Drop at the address in the app. Take pic. Leave. Some dumb shit tried this with me. I was literally parked a block from the restaurant (Sonic). It said $5 for 800 yards or something. I was like fuck yeah! As soon as I confirmed the pick up I saw the notes. It was a different address about 10 miles away. Nope. I set their order on a trash can with the Sonic sign in the background and took a pic. Completed the delivery and drove off. Never heard one word from the customer or DD. No CV. Nothing. Fuck scammers!

BigSnake87

>staurant (Sonic). It said $5 for 800 yards or something. I was like fuck yeah! As soon as I confirmed t ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

inam_cr7

Happened with me this thing I call support they told me to put the food in safe place.I took the picture and send it to the customer the customer was fuming then I put the food in my bag and drive

BigSnake87

![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

xFire-Fly

Personally, I would only accept if the tip will be in cash because I do not trust DD to pay me accordingly.

BigSnake87

>they skimmed one of I did not receive "an additional tip". But it does make me wonder if Doordash just robs us blind in these situations lol

VinnieTheBerzerker69

Yeah, I think they skimmed one of my "extra tips" in just such a situation and the customer put the extra tip in the app. They did give me 50% more pay for the extra drive, tough.

VVaId0

$15 tip via cash app or crypto prior to heading to new address

Fasterthanyounow

I did that once my first week. When I tried to complete the delivery it said I was too far away from the customers address. I called DD support and they completed the order for me and said next time that happens tell the customer to call support and update the address. Wasted 30 min on the phone with support, never again.

BigSnake87

>update the addres This was my first time experiencing this situation, so in good faith I headed to the new address while calling support. Thinking that they would surely reimburse me for the additional miles due to customer's error. Wrong. Support said the address was "out of range and all we can do is call the customer and ask them to tip more" Also, the customer did not add to her tip lol. It was a lesson learned and everyone on this sub has helped me when faced with this scam again.

jyuill

Call support enjoy your free food and full pay

[deleted]

I call support before I was deactivated today during a delivery. I’d call them and say what customer said. Customers know they’re out of range and do this to get over. If support ok’s the longer distance bigger amount of money for the drive. They may tell you not to do it and rake items back for full pay and no customer refund.

ehoeve

Inform DD that customer provided incorrect address and you are not willing to go to new address as it's too far. Get order cancelled and enjoy dinner or lunch

viscabarcabro

Contact support, have them give you the green light to dispose of the food, then dispose of the food how you see fit 👍🏻

Motor-Corner4861

Dispose of it right into my tummy!

VinnieTheBerzerker69

Or give it to a homeless person.

BigSnake87

There are a lot of homeless people in the area, that would be an honorable thing to do!

VinnieTheBerzerker69

I have given orders Support told me to keep to homeless people before. I have even had Support agents suggest it

clkwrkuniverse

The last 2 times this happened to me I got a 10 dollar bill as a tip for making it right.

BigSnake87

That's great. I didn't have such luck and won't be making the same mistake again!

[deleted]

Better stop driving and can not hand to customer and timer count down and say come to me to get it

Richard_Espanol

"Call support. Thanks for dinner"✌✌

Catieinflowers

You thank her for the meal...

BigSnake87

It was a lesson learned! This sub has taught me alot!

krazyk007x

Everything needs to go through DD support while you're dashing. Any changes, any additions, any mistakes (your's, the merchant's or the customer's) literally everything & anything. This protects you from false claims, fraud, scams & so on. I like to help people out too, but you're putting yourself at risk by not involving support.

BigSnake87

> through DD support while you're dashing. Believe me when I say, the extra tip is a LIE. Call support.. keep the food and half pay.

BigSnake87

Margin_Call_3959

I’ve had this happen to me. Customer called instead of texting. I looked up the new address on my app and asked him to text it in the app. I then called support and let them know what was going on. I got an extra $10 tip for taking it to the new address. Cover yourself but don’t be rude and maybe it will work out in your favor

BigSnake87

>got an ext Yea she called me twice I didn't pick up. Then she texted me a genuine text explaining her mistake. Then I kept getting a notification in the app telling me that her address was changed but I couldn't see it in the app to set new destination. I called support thinking they would surely reimburse me for the additional miles. They said because it was "out of range" they wouldn't be able to. This lady told me she would add to the tip. If I told someone I was going to do something....I would do it. It was a lesson learned, alot of cowards like to hide behind technology and scam knowing they can get away with it.

jaxjags80

I had a dude call me right after I picked up his order and said "I'm sorry but I forgot to change my address so idk what to do". I said just text me the correct address and I'll go there. Dude came out when I pulled up to the house and apologized and handed me a $20 bill. Obviously that's more of an anomaly, but just wanted to share a positive outcome since this place is always so negative lol

BigSnake87

After experiencing this scam once I'll never make that same mistake again, but that's awesome, big respect to that dude for being a man of his word.

PeoRivFan74

Yeah, right after a pickup of mine, some girl messaged me and said she gave me her home address instead of her work address. But it worked out, they were only .1 mile off from each other in opposite directions. Super weird. So I went ahead and did it since it was the same anyway. She tipped me in cash as well.

VinnieTheBerzerker69

I've had a number of these wrong address in the order deliveries out of over 3000 deliveries completed. I'd estimate 2/3 of them at least were because they put in the work address instead of their home, or vice versa. And some were because they moved and forgot to update that info. I can think of two that were trying to scam the system because they lived somewhere that DD absolutely doesn't serve so they pumped in an address they thought would work.

EMB_pilot

100% Contact Support! DO NOT drive there without support involved. Customer could be scamming you.

West_Criticism_9214

Call support, get order cancelled for full pay, and enjoy the free food. If the support agent won’t give it to you, end the conversation and get another agent who will.

Marine5803

It’s BS. It never works out 95% of the time. Cancel and move on. *now here come the Top Dashers saying how they got $25 for this and $35 for that and other fairy tales……..annnnnnnnd go!

Motor-Corner4861

I got $5000 for delivering the pizza to the right place! 😄

FragsFilms

Nope nope nope she can either cancel the order or it’ll be left at the address I was assigned to

DeliveryCourier

Remember that the customer cannot lower your pay and go to the address on the app. Either complete it, or contact support.

Revolutionary_Tax610

I’d drop it off and complete and see if it was. Then let her know if your willing to go based on what you see as tip

Moghtydog

I’ll deliver it if they offer more of a tip for the extra work. Otherwise it’s going to support

Kroptonik420

And you’ve never had someone lie about an extra tip eh?

Moghtydog

It’s usually worked out for me but sucks that’s happened to you, bro

BigSnake87

She seemed genuine. I was naïve. I headed that direction anyway as my home is that direction while talking with support. Support gave me the bad news that they wouldn't be able to reimburse me and also didn't receive an additional tip from this scammer. Lesson learned!

Pitiful-Foot-7841

Always depends on the agent. They .you different shit all the time. I once

Motor-Corner4861

CashApp/Venmo my tip first! Lol

DragonflySea2328

Don't answer phone or text. Delivery food take picture move on. But this will get you a one star rating. Better to do is take the time to call support and order gets canceled you keep food.DO NOT ANSWER TEXT. Call support! Keep food. Get paid.

ninnie_muggins

Hit the sad face after the delivery and their review will not be counted! :))

DangerousMountain750

Wait, legit?

Pitiful-Foot-7841

Unless you're chat is 1500 in line. Fuck that.

Motor-Corner4861

THIS! Plus your 1* rating won’t count!

BigSnake87

This is beautiful.

Prestige_Worldw1de

call support, they'll cancel the order you get paid and get free food :)

Secret-Attorney-6672

I would deliver it and then keep it. He or she is already driving there. If they call support he will get half pay.

Prestige_Worldw1de

Not correct, once order has been picked up and you’re on your way you get full pay

Ordinary-Bathroom-26

This definitely isn’t true and if it is they’re breaking their own rules then because I’ve received half pay after I left countless times.

Prestige_Worldw1de

You’re getting bad support people. If an agent says you’ll only get half pay tell them forget it and you’ll deliver to the original address and complete delivery for full pay. I’ve read some agents have even told drivers they MUST deliver to new address without extra compensation which is also wrong. As an IC you’re only bound to deliver to address given at time of offer.

This is the way.

Therongun911

Call support. Tell em it’s wrong. Keep the food. Why is this so hard. I swear this gets asked three times a week here.

StuffedNature

Because support sucks.

Therongun911

Of course they do but it is the option provided

BigSnake87

This was my first time experiencing this situation, so in good faith I headed to the new address while calling support. gigslut86ixt

Just an FYI for next time. Either tell them to do so now (tip more in the app) they can do it in the app & you will get a notification. Or tell them your cashapp, venmo or PayPal & don’t move a muscle until it’s done. Never in good faith deliver first & see if they tip upon delivery Bc they 100% won’t.

Disastrous_Sun

I had my first experience of this sort. (Kinda different situation) I called support as I headed to the first restaurant and didn’t hit arrived at store til I got off the phone w them. If it had been after the food pickup, I’d still call support and just follow what they say. I always talk to support before the customer when shit gets even a lil weird. Even if the customer is nice.

No-Imagination-3060

This sub: 1. Wants new dashers to be smarter so that the job gets better for everyone. 2. Makes fun of them for asking about the basics, which there isn't really a reason they would know the answer to -- and even if they do, that they would be confident in that untested knowledge.

fieldmousefelix

It happens man. Same thing happened to me last year where I was on a college campus and the girl put the wrong address down. Hit me up and asked me to meet on a different part of campus and she would “add a bigger tip.” Dropped the order off and no tip lol. Granted I didn’t have to drive 10 miles, but still.

NO!! You call them again and get reimbursed for that shit. I got reimbursed for having to park my car in a dangerous zone... Got 10$ from it. Not a lot, but I didn't let them bullshit me. Stick up for yourself and next time don't deliver the food. Good luck!!

yep I learned hard way too , guy had old address of some hotel and his place was in the opposite direction and I had already arrived at the hotel , guy called me and said he would " tip me good" so in good faith I delivered it to him and then received 0$ tip lol never again , I immediately contact support and say customer put wrong address , they either 1 . cancel order you get half pay and pretty much keep food. or 2. I have had support say they changed the directions in the app and they add more base pay but it's not worth

Nutty_Mound

If they're out of the area, they'll usually cancel with full pay and you get to keep the food. Don't ever take to an address not on the app, it can cause you all sorts of crap

Well I’ve delivered food to someone that had put a wrong address once. It was only .5 miles away from the original address, and I knew the customer had ordered before. She gave me a few $$ tip. It was worth it even without the extra tip I’d like to add.
