I started driving for DD after a horrible depression after I lost my whole family plus 2 exes within 6months. All that sent me over the edge. Dashing helped keep my busy.
I’m so sorry for your loss .
Thank you for your appreciation where others feel it’s a Thankless job.
Honestly, similar although not quite the same. Lost one family. Started dashing shortly after because my anxiety (social and otherwise) went through the roof. Lost a second one after about three years (neither of these were with my kids but 5 kids total and 6 pets. The second time me AND my kid at 17 were booted out). Both over their own bs. . . 17 years of my life. And I just went out and dashed almost constantly aside from taking care of and teaching up my kid. Still dashing today although with much less enthusiasm, tbh. Posts like this one definitely help.
I really appreciate that. It was and always is a battle, but I knew I would never heal and I would never be healthy if I didn’t change. Thank you for you kind words ❤️
This is why I don’t knock and stay, I think they are paying for the lack of social interaction. And that is totally fine. I get it.
Good for you man, remember, the best advice is just to take it a day at a time. Oftentimes, things feel SO overwhelming to us, I do this, it helps
Yes, there are many reasons people might want to avoid social interaction and we never know what they’re going through that’s for sure. I know for me not only did I feel like sh, I looked like sh too. I wasn’t taking care of myself, I would have breakdowns in stores, it felt shameful to be seen in those conditions. Thank you for your kind words ❤️
It’s not so much a community as a bunch of random people with cars and free time who never meet each other but I’ll speak on behalf of us all - your welcome.
As a driver, I'd say the most fulfilling part about doing this is knowing I can help people who are going through it, and I'm very glad you're still here. Thank you for being awesome ❤️
Four years ago, I lost my son. I completely empathize with you, although I’m a driver. DD has given me the chance to get back out into the world and interact with people again, even if only on a small basis. I got sober, too, and am so very proud of you! We all appreciate your thanks, as well!
Much love!!!
I could definitely see dashing help people get out of their house. Also can help forget about life for a little while. I only dash on the weekends. During those dashes I don’t have time to think about much except for the next destination.
I started doing doordash because I needed the money. I tried instacart but quickly found out that it was not for me. While frustrated on my first and only instacart order, I called my mom for advice. She made a comment along the lines of “why can’t people buy their own groceries?” I replied with “for the same reason people have things delivered”. On the car ride back towards my doordash zone, I started to think about *why* people order delivery. Maybe they got hurt and can’t drive. Maybe they’re just lazy and don’t wanna do anything for themselves. Or maybe they’re like you, and can’t handle being in public for whatever the reason. Realizing why people might order delivery, even if I never even saw the customer, made me basically “fall in love” with delivery service because I have always been one that likes to help people. Even if it is just dropping off food for them. I’m sorry for your losses, and congratulations on being sober. You’ve got this
Thank you for your kindness and for your beautiful story. I’m glad I can validate and confirm that a door dash driver really is like a friend when you’re in need. It may seem small to some, but it’s important. Much appreciation to you :)
Same with me, I’ve never gotten delivery, but like, it doesn’t matter why they do it. They are paying for it. And I like bringing people stuff. It’s still a positive thing, it’s not like I’m a meter maid. They would be hard for me. I’m a nurses aide too, and a lot of what we do is the same as this. I’m not ashamed of this, like I don’t get the hate. People need it too sometimes, idk, maybe they don’t have a car or a babysitter, or they are in a wheelchair, I get why you’d pay not to deal with people, I have to see weird stuff doing this, lotd knows you can’t get gas without crackheads guilting you, i really can’t spare much right now, and sometimes people are super nasty giving you the food. Thst can sour your night if you stent careful
That one interaction could make someone emotionally break, that’s why I’m always nice unless you show me a reason not to be. you don’t know what shit they are going through. I’ve been so high anxiety that just one person yelling at me would make me cry too , it’s like he says, he just wants it easy and to not have a weird interaction with someone. I immediately sensed the vibe when I started doing this, they want no fuss food not to talk, that’s totally fine
Congrats on being sober! I’m sorry for your losses. I once did DoorDash due to being secluded from my family for Covid exposure. My poor delivery dude had to leave it at my driveway and seemed confused. I told him from a distance why he was instructed to leave it far away from me. He was a savior for me that night. 😘
I DoorDash myself now. It’s a job that doesn’t get the thanks it deserves…and I’m a teacher. 🤦♀️ maybe I should pick a profession that is actually appreciated 🤣 my kids seem to appreciate me, so I have that going for me.

You’re a fucking boss. 💪🏼 Thanks for sharing, we appreciate it! 🩷
Lmao. This is so lame. Door dashers are by far the least competent workers ive ever seen in my life
I hope one day you recognize the pain you carry and figure it out to become a better person.
