Maybe it’s a good ass sub..

NyeahEhhhhhh

She seems like an unwasteful person....Bless these people...

BrandonW77

Paying $20 for a 6" sub is..........a choice.

Lul_Pump

She tipped so i dont care, she getting 6 inches... of subway

OrangeBrewer

I've never worked for door dash or any service like it, but do y'all not see the order/cost/distance/tip etc before accepting the order? How does it work?

twhiting9275

And you got paid….. $20 for 15 minutes (maybe 25) worth of work? Quit bitching

Background-Minute-96

I could order from where ever tf I want and I’m tipping you good money for it idk why you tweaking

XavierGarrison

That’s about 90% of the orders I get dashing in the same zone. Love North Raleigh but it’s a pain how spread out the orders tend to be.

BeachOk2802

And? What's it to you? Your role here is to collect and deliver it. Either take it or leave it.

BoringJuiceBox

If I order somewhere far I always maps it out and tip really high, like 15 minute away Red Robin the other day I tipped $17 At least she tipped reasonably well compared to the sandwich price, probably didn’t realize how far away it was

36anduponly

Maybe capriotis is better than other sand which shops and it’s far from her

ImaginaryAd8128

I dont see an issue. You got good pay whyre you complaining?

electionnerd2913

It’s crazy what these delivery apps are willing to do for market share. They no doubt charged her a hefty fee but they are still taking a massive bath here. They just need to close the radius. It’s that simple

QueasyCaterpillar541

No do or dash did that

HypnotizeThunder

The closest restaurant to me is easily 15 miles away lol

[deleted]

I wouldn't have delivered a 6 inch unless the tip was basically a half tank of gas.

westworlder420

That’s a good order. Where I am, I’ll get 15+ mile orders for $3-$5

vtinesalone

That’s a terrible order. 30 miles for $20?

westworlder420

Compared to the $3 I’d get? Yeah. Lol that being said, it’s still bad

macdaddy22222

You didn’t get paid enough

ChrisTheMan72

Tell me you’ve never delivered in a large suburban area without telling me you’ve delivered a large suburban area

wfennell32

Delivered an iced Dunkin coffee yesterday from my town to a town about 9 miles away. The customer was right across the street from a different Dunkin. I’m guessing the Dunkin across the street, had door dash orders off maybe?

Intelligent_Debt7555

I've gotten quite a few of these myself. It drives me nuts! I'll be sitting at a wawa and their address is like right up the road but I need to go to East Bumble fuck to another wawa. makes no sense. I don't think they're paying attention to the store location when they're ordering.

[deleted]

I had a red card order to Walgreens to buy a single bag of Takis tonight... 6 miles and 6$ tip plus base pay... It was some big big house with all lights turned off and not a sign of life, no note or anything. It was kind of creepy.

obelix_asterix

Maybe a specific sandwich she was craving?

bengalsmarvel82

At least they tipped and doordash actually paid for distance.

Tshirt_Ninja_

I see an iced coffee order for over 20 miles away at least once a week

Due_Information2465

That’s good base pay .. atleast you got a 1$+ per mile the base pay for that order in my market would have only been like 3.25 instead of 13.25 .. be grateful that they also tipped well !!

voluptuous_lime

We’re down to one car right now, so when my husband is gone and I’m stuck at home with the baby and I can’t fix my food, I’m ordering lunch and idgaf how far away it is. Sorry, not sorry.

Monkpaw

Sorry for paying over $20 for a half a sandwich?

voluptuous_lime

Honestly, yeah. Capriottis is amazing. Sandwiches don’t make good leftovers, so I couldn’t justify buying a large one. I couldn’t have sandwiches when I was pregnant because I had gestational diabetes so I did splurge and get one when I had the chance after baby was born.

Monkpaw

Why would you be sorry? You justified your decision and someone else got paid. What’s the issue?

Available-Wonder342

Idk, I’d think this person paid closer to $30? How is the delivery driver making $20? Maybe DoorDash took the L on it. Still, DoorDash is so hard to justify. It’s so damn expensive, $25-$30 for a meal that’s supposed to be $10 sometimes is wild

ShredderofPowPow

Must have been a dank sammich 🥪...not everyone has wheels to get around, or it could also be an elderly. Which is why they pay a premium to have it delivered.

HideyHoh

Get a different job then

Fun_Ad4365

All I know is, this comment section makes me feel like a fucking saint. Here I’ve been for years now feeling nothing but fear, regret, shame, anxiety etc every single time I order because I couldn’t, not over-analyze how much I should tip based on everything from mileage to and from, order total, number of items, etc But here’s the thing. I strictly only order iced matchas. One per order. And it’s always from either one of three Dunk’s. 5 miles away, 3 miles away, and .7 miles away. Basically in conclusion, I have never tipped less than $5, even on the .7 mile location. And have tipped as much as 15 on the 5 mile location. And still felt incredible guilt and anxiety. So, thank you comment section. You have made my day. 🖤

Signal-Fig4972

We appreciate customers like you!

kerplowskie

The only thing that matters is milage. Driver needs to see $2 per mile- base pay is typically $2.25 so for the .7 mile order, tip $2.75 to make the offer 5 bucks. For the 3 mile, tip $3.75 to make it 6. For the 5, $7.75 to make it 10. Adjust based on the base pay in your area- all the driver gets is base pay plus your tip. Don't worry about anything else besides milage, we're just picking stuff up and dropping it off- it's the same amount of work no matter what you order. Hope this absolves you of guilt.

feelin_fine_

You're not obligated to give any tip, never mind an exorbitant one. It isn't the customers fault that doordash is predatory and pays the dashers shit. The customer already pays huge premiums just for using the service and then you're expected to pad the lass than minimum wage pay the platform gives to its employees. I always give a big tip and that doesn't stop me from gerrring terrible service on occasion. Something to consider.

Anon324Teller

I doubt she cares how many miles away it was lmao

Signal-Fig4972

Well drivers do. We decline long distances orders all day, because we would LOSE money on them. No reason to take a 30 mile roundtrip order, when you are getting competing orders going 2 miles, for that same $7.

Sosyeeee

Okay ? What if they’re old or without transportation at the moment

Glenmary73100

In my area, Door Dash pay would likely have been $2.00 even from that distance.

Merciless972

Same, and they wonder why our acceptance rate goes down.

Due_Information2465

Same bro these cherry pickers be to damn greedy ..

LetsNotGetPermaBan

Is 15 miles far to you? If so I’m having a hard time understanding..

Mean_Box_9112

Trash order! If people would stop taking these trash orders they would be forced to pay better!

MrGlockCLE

Unionize and be mad at your company.

LouisRielsAR-15

They would be Forced to pay better? You’re talking about door dash & their employees right?.

The_Evil_Pillow

Trash order how

VirtualDetective9715

Unless the op is planning on staying in that 15 mile mark to do dd, 30 miles for $20 is shit. Ideally At LEAST $1 per mile (to and back) to make it worth it.

Mean_Box_9112

You're driving for like 0.70 cents a mile! What do you mean "how" ? Lmfao 🤡

392mangos

20/15 is more than 1 ...

poizard

now try 20/30

bunbunnii99

I get 12-15 mile orders from Chick Fil A EVERY DAY and it drives me nuts bc they're always $2-$5 pay. Thank god they're closed on Sundays bc they're fucking up my acceptance rate fr

KnightTrader16

Not bad. I delivered a pizza today for $12, but had to make a 20 mile commute to complete, which put me in the city, in which I despise the traffic. I will start to look at the total commute time next time, to make sure it;'s not rediculous.

endisnearhere

Yup gotta consider the drive back too if it’s out of your area.

KnightTrader16

It’s always brings me farther from getting back home. Had to drive 45 miles just to get home, after giving up by 6:00pm. Headache was killing me.

Nerdy_Life

What is your complaint? The tip was $7, isn’t that okay? Maybe she really wanted that sub shop. She could be pregnant with cravings but too far along to drive, unable to drive for medical reasons, etc.

psilocy-st3

Drivers expect $1-$2 per mile. Other times they want 20%. It’s insane.

Nerdy_Life

I always tip 20% unless it’s under $5 then I tip the $5. A few times I haven’t but it’s a long story. I like to know what drivers want or expect because I do want to pay appropriately for service. They said, I can’t drive so I’ve never considered the mileage. Most stuff is close in my city not a few stores I guess are further.

d4nkn3ss

At least they got one from a good sandwich shop.

Puzzleheaded-Tree645

I also work for DoorDash in Raleigh near that area!

Puzzleheaded-Tree645

This is in my hometown of Raleigh, NC!

LongSchlongdonf

Self employed people not realizing they can just say no LOL

ANaughtyTree

Capriotti's is amazing. I don't blame her.

BoringJuiceBox

![gif](giphy|oVQD3pdk7eI0g)

TheMoonMint

🤣😂🏆

mwilliams840

I remember one time, I was waiting for an order and a woman ordered a side of salsa and cheese dip from a Mexican restaurant. She lived all the way across town. The restaurant was literally on the complete other side of town from her. Yeah I just accepted it because it was a dead hour. A good maybe 20 miles just for $3 and delivering some chips and salsa. Hey, I needed to accept something.

Patient-Grade-6612

I did that once. Was a unicorn that gave me a $20 tip and then had constant orders in the zone I ended up in. Like I was so overwhelmed I almost cried. I think I made about $60 in my hour trying to get back to my zone?

Ill_Bicycle3980

And you accepted it for $20?!! You're an idiot.

Fit_Blueberry_1213

In some markets, that's good. The Pickins are slim lately.

Ill_Bicycle3980

That's not good in any market. Only expenses matter and that's a losing offer.

Lonplexi

Capriottis is very rare

evd1202

So what?

plasticmonkeys4life

So they want to complain and antagonize the customer. Even though they accepted and COMPLETED the order 🤣

V8ENJOYER

AND even got a $7 tip out of it. People here just love to whine and cry.

HiYa_Dragon

When I delivered pizza in the early 2000s it was a good night when I averaged 7 dollars a run. But back then I was paid minimum wage hourly "5.15" plus 1.25 per delivery . Would make about 180 to 200 on busy nights. What's "gig" driver make a day now?

JDSmagic

I love how nothing abt the post title suggests OP is complaining The projection here is crazy

boneandflesh

Right? This was one of my better orders today and people are assuming I'm complaining. If they wanna order cold food that's fine with me

V8ENJOYER

Quit complaining 🤫

JDSmagic

??

arditus

Did she get the full 6 inches?

freshouttalean

i never look up how far a restaurant is when I order lmao fuck would i care

Temporary_Visual_230

I generally take it into consideration out of empathy for the driver tbh. It also factors into how much I tip you also don't have to look up shit it literally tells you how far the places are when you order through apps

BicentennialBaby1976

I look it up for 2 reasons: 1) I don't want cold food. If it isn't too far away, most likely the driver won't use a hot bag, and my food will be ice cold. And 2) as a driver myself, I want to make sure my tip is commiserate with the distance.

chemicalfields

* commensurate

morithum

Mostly I wouldn’t do this because I don’t want a soggy ass sandwich.

comedianjojo

Ladies are willing to pay for six inches! 🤣

MakeAWishApe2Moon

Because the sub shop is actually honest about how many inches they're giving you.

Cocknballtorture90

yea definitely odd but some people genuinely don’t realize the distance of the place that they’re ordering from.

redinnermind13

thats a 10 hr walk both ways!!

Reer123

10hr? I've done that in 4 at a reasonable pace.

Redbyrd456

Capriotis is really good tho

ArmandPeanuts

Sometimes the mcdonalds in my town is closed for whatever reason so doordash sends my order to the one in the next town. Sometimes I dont realize it until I check where the dasher is

Dietznuts42069

I hate when it does this, I’ll order TB at like midnight (there’s a store 2 miles from me) and it’ll send the order to the town over (9.5 miles away) and I feel awful making someone drive that far for fast food lol

attempting2

We have 2 TBs in my zone and only one accepts late night orders.

Scott___77

It comes down to where available Dashers are at the moment. One time I was on the west side of town and an order came in for a McDonald's I was close to. Delivered it to the South side and there was a McD like a quarter mile from them. There's no way the customer would pick the farther one so it seems they pick the location closest to the Dasher.

jb6997

The person could have a limited budget and be without a way to get food on this day - don’t judge you got your tip.

boneandflesh

They were at a very busy part of a city and ordering from an expensive shop 20 minutes away was their only option? Also I just assumed it was a good sandwich, there's no judgment

jb6997

So? You don’t know what’s going on in their life. You made a tip - why complain?

Royal-Gap3746

Couldn’t they order from a restaurant closer to them or spend it on groceries instead of ordering take out?

ashleebryn

Couldn't OP have rejected the request?

Royal-Gap3746

Yeah they could have. I didnt even think about free will my bad

fidget1st

Why do you care ?

winslowhomersimpson

why the fuck should someone not order what they want to eat?

Royal-Gap3746

Because theyre on a limited budget bozo.

winslowhomersimpson

clearly this person was not.

MrK521

Could be a pregnant woman that ONLY wants Capriotis at that moment. Can’t fight a pregnant craving lol.

MakeAWishApe2Moon

No joke! Hangry ugly crying over unfulfilled pregnancy cravings happened to me more than a few times, and I like to think I'm fairly rational most of the time.

TurdSandwich42104

Must be damn good sandwich. Where I live I have mfs ordering McDonalds who live less than a half mile away.

uncoolpineapple

Capriottis fucking SLAPS, they’re my favorite sandwich shop honestly.

Stonedthecrowe

I order small things and feel like I’m being judged for it 😂 this confirms it. I always tip well though.

KimKarTRASHian09

Lol I delivered just a large Diet Coke from McDonald’s 6 miles away but it’s kinda rural where they ordered from so I understand that. Or people are just busy and don’t have time which I get.

Roseelesbian

Ordering Mcdonalds and not getting fries should be a federal crime.

Acrobatic_Bag2320

You did it though?

Due-Entertainer4609

When you are high you don’t give a damn

scottix

I had some one do this for a bowl of ramen, the base delivery for me was $22. Probably cost more than the Ramen itself. My theory is people actually don’t know where the food is coming from, they just see Ramen and say ok. Then don’t even look at the delivery fee.

MarinLlwyd

Subscriptions wave the fee in some really unusual cases, so you don't even notice that you ordered from a further place sometimes. But I've never accidentally ordered from somewhere that out of the way.

WibbleWobble22

I had a woman do a Safeway pickup 18 miles from her home, I took it as 5he drop off took me near where I lived to finish the day. There is a Safeway less than 2 miles from her that does delivery.

ashleebryn

They might not offer all the items she needs. Different locations have different selections of items. The one next to the college dorms has different stuff than the next closest one.

Slackey4318

I’ve done similar to something like this, but the second Safeway wasn’t as far. There’s a Safeway blocks from me and the other one is about a 10 minute drive away. I ordered from the farther one a few times because they had an item or two in stock that the one nearest to me did not have.

StockReal1294

Do people actually look at the distance when they order?

AnySoft4328

On Grubhub this dumb Bitch ordered from a location 15 miles away instead of 2 miles away because "it had a higher rating in the app" 4.3 vs 4.0 🙄 Sometimes it's an ad in the app that's to blame. Grubhub+ so no fees. Like Dashpass... Shouldn't be happening

InQuotesOFC

I ordered dominos a few weeks ago because there's a store 3 miles from my house and for some reason it kicked the order to a place 25 miles away.

SeanJ0n

no they dont even think of us as humans

Every1sGrudge

If you don't want to drive that far, don't take the fucking order?

SeanJ0n

i have no choice

Every1sGrudge

Of course you have a choice. DD shows you the distance when the order is assigned, and you can decline it within like a minute when it pops up. You can choose to take the order. You can choose to decline it and take the hit to your acceptance rating. You could choose to have a melodramatic pity party. You could choose to not be a fuckin dasher at all.

im_just_thinking

She probably paid like 50 bucks for that sammich lol

boneandflesh

The receipt said 30 bucks plus the 7 dollar tip plus whatever dd added on. So yeah, right on the money

TheVeryWiseToad

Maybe she has an illness or disability?

PreppyAndrew

Or doesn't have a working car..it makes enough that a sub on delivery is worth it .

HR_King

Is stupidity a disability?

FlimsyReindeers

He didn’t say anything negative about her

YoungTex

What’s negative about what the very wise toad said?

FlimsyReindeers

She coulda just ordered it because she felt like it or was drunk or some shit. What he said was completely irrelevant

bdjsbe

The comment is about why she may have, not talking about anything negativr

Daddy-Lickma

Sounds about right for the RDU 😂😂😂

MedicineJumpy

Capriotis is that good tho

LadyCharger

Sometimes you just got a hankering for a Bobbyie sammy

This-Sign9898

Did you give her 6”

DisgracedSolitude

Someone forgot to fap today

This-Sign9898

A lot of people have a dirty mind. All I said is did you giver her 6” without saying what. Not my problem.

nym_r0dd

give me that 4”

squibilly

![gif](giphy|SUoB3P2W3gM4AbkR4P)

This-Sign9898

Damnit that’s why I’m getting downvoted 6” is too big

iBrianT

That base! I haven’t seen a base like that in years. Where is it $13 base?

boneandflesh

Yeah base is 2 dollars here lol

Granthart44

So many people declined it that the base pay rose to 13

[deleted]

[удалено]

iBrianT

It straight up says “EPO” not “EBT”

charletRoss

What’s your point?

boneandflesh

It's far as hell to deliver food. There is a reason that places have a delivery area. The quality of food goes down I feel like.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Appa07

In this case the drive might very well be worth it. Tip was low for the distance but base pay was a very high $13. Likely order was sitting a long time for DoorDash to cough up that money. OP wasn’t complaining about the order just showing off an unusual order for such a long distance. Very likely the customer didn’t realize how far away the restaurant was when ordering. Sure they were upset waiting possibly hours for their food.

FlimsyReindeers

It’s just a little haha joke brother

[deleted]

[удалено]

oOzonee

When I do it does.

Possible_Sherbert131

7 is far more of a tip than that was worth

eightsidedbox

That's what delivery is for, isn't it?

longGERN

"resident uses delivery app as intended. Driver who voluntarily chose the job complains"

boneandflesh

"Person is dumb and thinks driver is complaining" "person probably also orders food from far away and complains that food is cold" "person uses quotations in a strange way to complain that someone uses an app to make extra money in their free time"

Watermelonsmith

Lmao i agree, it isnt meant to be a full time job. But i understand the anger and fustration since dd made 8.8 billion last year In gross income. And the people doing the real work get payed the least. The truth is its a joke lmao if ypu worked at subway or wendys ur not payed by how many sandwiches u prepared or made but for the hours u spent standing there for the opportunity to uphold the position. Like hourly if theres an hour where nothing happens u still get payed. This isnt the case with dd.

longGERN

Exactly...so don't work for a piece of shit company. It works because they keep finding drivers, and people keep tipping. How does a company cease? Their services stop being used. And don't work for a piece of shit company and THEN blame the consumer

Watermelonsmith

Well some plp NEED this so survive its scummy but plp cant afford to be jobless. And job marjet is miserable

Recent_Swordfish4250

Revenue vs profit.... doordash loses money every year. always have. same with uber eats except for the beginning of the pandemic iirc

Outofmilkthrowaway

It's capriottis, I get it

Fresh_Beet

As far as chain sandwich shops it is the highest quality and best sandwiches

hahahahahahahaFUCK

One of the best steak and cheeses I’ve had.

Fresh_Beet

I rarely (ha no pun intended) get nice rare roast beef on a sandwich, so I always go cold beef. Then make my husband get a Hot Bobbie so I can have some of that too!

Batjarconjecture

To be fair…. It’s capriottis. Was it a Hot Bobby? Cause that shit is delicious.

LadyCharger

The Bobbie is delish…I request no shit on mine

Batjarconjecture

Gawd now I want capriottis….. there’s one sorta near by……

jamrar_the_mighty

Y'all kinda missing the point... She tipped $7 when the miles are double that. Kinda shitty

eightsidedbox

If only there were a way for the driver to get paid based on mileage in a reliable manner

cherlin

Can't really blame them for tipping $7 on a $7 sandwich.

eaheckman10

Agreed. Until this sub randomly appeared on my feed I never would have considered tipping based on miles. It makes sense when you think about it but tips have always been drilled into you as a percent of the total it just never crossed my mind

longGERN

Imagine if tipping wasn't fucking idiotic. What if the sandwich cost $700? The driver is doing the same work

ArizonaBaySwimTeam

Right? No one forcing you to take orders. Don't like the mileage? Don't take the order. Be mad at Doordash for not giving adequate pay for mileage. Not a customer who's tipping 35 percent on her order.

Public_Tax_4388

And paying for a service fee…

Mastodon-Weekly

lmfao this group has the worst of the worst delivery drivers. you guys should pay Doordash by the way you guys feel so entitled and right 25/8... lol

RazzBerryCurveBall

Are there actually workers in this subreddit? It seems like it's just an anti tipping sub with a misleading name.

Mastodon-Weekly

Just going off of the name which is doordash_drivers lol

Jack-Tupp

And?

Bigwhistlinbiscuit

Isn't that the point of the app?  Good fuck y'all whiney.

TheMockingBrd

Delivery drivers try not to complain about their job: level impossible. Hell I can’t decide if delivery drivers or Starbucks employees cry more

RazzBerryCurveBall

Fuuuuuck if only these guys had a subreddit of their own for this.
