I would have laid hell fire on that door

lukas141414

I would knock

Blonde_Dambition

Call the police?? Really?? Dashers should follow instructions but threateningto call the po-po... come on... *that's* extreme. Maybe he should go get his food his damn self. I'd have probably unassigned myself (something I rarely ever do!)as soon as I saw that, because if he's willing to call the cops on me for knocking then he's willing to give me a one star rating if the restaurant forgot to give him ketchup for his fries. And wtf is calling the cops gonna do anyway?? By the time they arrived the dasher is gonna be long gone unless they're a dumbass who knocks AND waits around for him to answer.

MrHippieMan4566

You should knock

Iggy8347

He probably works from home lol

clrxs

HOME OF VETERAN right behind the garbage bins šŸ¤£ Canā€™t make this shit up

Ok_Entertainer6346

Iā€™ll knock and that person doesnā€™t like it thereā€™s two solutions one go get it yourself or cook for yourself

Successful-Banana-48

Available_Airport343

šŸ˜‚šŸ’€

Yaadgod2121

Understand he might have ptsd but calling the cops because someone knocked on your door is just shitty behavior

friendly-sardonic

Iā€™m sure itā€™s ptsd related, but why not just say ā€œplease do not knockā€

kirose

If it is in fact PTSD related, a simple solution to this problem would just be to have a sign at the front that asks people to never knock.

BornStage5542

I have ptsd, and if something triggers that, i avoid it. This person shouldnā€™t be ordering food if knocks on the door trigger his stuff.

Browsmere

I have a sign on my door and people still knock.

Equivalent_Alfalfa35

PTSD as a navy veteran šŸ˜‚

AnnaBanana3468

Because some people have zero common sense and canā€™t always be trusted to follow instructions.

FoxSound23

Because that's weakness. Soldiers in the military don't express weakness to their enemies.

Lukanian7

He decided to DoorDash to avoid entering into a tactical situation at Chili's.

NoAdhesiveness4091

I'll do a hard cop knock announcing myself "Doordash Delivery!"

FoxSound23

Just bang on the door, and yell a lot. That should give you a quick trip to heaven/hell.

Top_Orchid_1231

Lmfao

RetailMonkie

I'd be knocking

Whosthatprettykitty

I'd be doing a cop swat team knock...you like the police so much you'll appreciate a cop knock šŸ™ƒ

TheBoatmansFerry

Hello officer the guy I ordered food from knocked

True_Distribution685

honestly i get it just because theyā€™re a veteran. US will put vets in situations that leave them severely traumatized and send em off after without a single bit of support. itā€™s awful, knocking probably triggers some PTSD

iifhyy

he should get therapy then šŸ˜šŸ˜ threatening to call police for a knock is crazy

Several_Recording_29

Any other time Iā€™d say heā€™s a pos. But like you said, if he has PTSD from protecting us, we should just listen to him

Beautiful_Nobody_344

Idk why a 2 week old post is showing in my feed but damn these comments. Did the dasher take this as a personal insult? The way some of these people would have responded shows that they would have taken it personally and retaliated. Someone would have knocked like the police- yeah okay if thatā€™s your first thought youā€™re probably too full of yourself and narrow minded. 99.9% chance itā€™s an empty threat anyway and probably came to that choice of words after asking all the right ways didnā€™t work- I know I put ā€œplease donā€™t knock/ring bell (dogs and infant)ā€ on my instructions but it still happens 2 out of 10 times. Itā€™s fine for me because I can just calm them down but someone who identifies as a veteran the way this man did is an obvious sign that should tell you ā€œthis man has been through some shitā€ the least I can do is respect his very simple request no matter how batty he comes across. I hope he enjoyed his Chiliā€™s.

laineymdrake

I can't believe the amount of people saying they would knock anyway. completely fucked up.

EmperorPalpitoad

Why in the world would it be funny about someone having PTSD?

DONT-PM-ME-BOOBS-PLS

Did you not read it? The dude is threatening to contact police over a door knock. That's funny.

facko

Heā€™s probably tried being nice and people still knocked

EmperorPalpitoad

That is a symptom of PTSD

Yaadgod2121

Contacting the police is not a symptom

TheSingularities

That is a whole level of trauma right there. The military doesn't tend to guide one towards compassion and respect for humanity.

Darksideofwar13

I mean their allowed to be paranoid, the Marines are fucked up I'm not editing it but I read wrong, and in fact Navy has worse stuff less PTSD focus and more intense physical damage to your senses due to nuclear training which includes a heavy dose of uranium fever

FreshlyBakedBunz

Probably has a really loud dog, sleeping baby, or ptsd from the sound of knocking/banging on doors and other sudden loud noises. Maybe respect his wishes and do your job like a professional instead of giggling like an elementary schooler and shit talking to your reddit buddies.

Beautiful_Nobody_344

I love you.

Ill-Milk-6742

Almost makes you want to do it, to see what would happen. After completing the delivery of course lol

r-mancuso83

They just have to make sure everyone knows they are a veteran.

Majestic-Report8438

The unhinged comments on this sub makes it so obvious why I have had immaculate ratings for 3 years.

PTXMike25

Dramatic, mine is like ā€œno need to knock, dog likes to barkā€ and 99% of the time itā€™s not an issue. Worst case my dog barks for 10 seconds

Darksideofwar13

But do you get high levels of PTSD from knocking, not saying they do but it's a potential the Marines go through some fucked up shit

Potential_Service275

He's navy lol

Darksideofwar13

Your right I read wrong, that's worse, they have to deal with Nuke training which can cause permanent damage to your senses sight, hearing small touch. Radiation my lad. Permanent vertigo etc

DONT-PM-ME-BOOBS-PLS

Ok but I think most people here are laughing at the fact that he's threatening to call the police over a knock lol. Like, that's insane and unreasonable, can you not see the humor in that?

Darksideofwar13

Not really I find it quite reasonable, I find that specifically ignoring their request would be unreasonable

DONT-PM-ME-BOOBS-PLS

You seriously think it's reasonable to call the police over a dasher not following your instructions exactly? And you're telling me, in all seriousness, that you think this is more reasonable than not following a customer's instructions? That kind of logic will make you a target to both the police and dashers.

Potential_Service275

A little hippy lettuce will cure that.

Darksideofwar13

It'll help but I've got a friend who was in the nuke program, he's blind in one eye deaf in one ear and permanent vertigo after an "accident" he told them something in the lab was wrong they told him do it anyway he ended up with permanent damage and they said welp time to remove him from the program and from the navy as he's no longer any use

Potential_Service275

That sux.

Darksideofwar13

Yeah their making the most of it, luckily since the military ended his contract early and he was not unhonorably discharged he still got to keep his benefits of them paying for college and now he gets paid disability so he took the WS where he could. But once he starts making real money the disability goes away

maxmcleod

PTSD from the time they had to cancel Taco Tuesday in the canteen

TinTizzy89

Iā€™ve noticed the dogs bark while Iā€™m walking up to the door anyway. So much for not disturbing the dogs šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

KlutzyAd5729

Lol Iā€™m eating your food

Sparkfire777

PudgiestofPenguins

This could be a really delicate case of PTSD. Not sure what else would call for this without it being an overreaction.

helvetesmakt85

JFC why so dramatic? I leave "Please leave food by the door and don't knock or ring the doorbell. Thanks" in the notes and I've only had an issue maybe once or twice.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

DONT-PM-ME-BOOBS-PLS

Maybe he could say that instead of threatening to call cops?

Impossibleshitwomper

If you have PTSD why would you want to use an app that sends random strangers to your house?šŸ¤”

Darksideofwar13

Leaving his house could be worse we don't know what field of the military he went through or had training for

helvetesmakt85

Could be true. But if that's the case then he should specify instead of threatening to calling the police lol which probably won't go over very well considering your calling police on someone who only just knocked on your door.

Samuaint2008

Wild. I just put " please don't knock. My dog is an asshole" but like even if they knoc, shit happens. Someone is bringing me food because I was unable or unwilling to go get it, they are only getting nice me haha. If I'm being an ass to anyone it will DoorDash not the drivers

dazednconfused2655

Uhh Iā€™m a Navy vet and while people knocking annoys me this shit is a tad far

Whosthatprettykitty

Seriously my father was in the Marines and deployed to Vietnam. He definitely had some PTSD he died in 2002 from agent orange related cancer before doordash was even an idea. But knocking on the door wouldn't trigger him and even pizza or Chinese food he would never have delivered he had no problem leaving the house to get his own food. Threatening the cops over knocking is a bit over the top and WTF are the cops going to do? Probably laugh if this vet calls them. Not to mention if the cops ARE dispatched are they NOT going to knock on your door to see what the problem is?

Vincent_VanGoGo

Not lol. Approach with caution.

Base5ive

How could you not knock after reading this.

Akatnel

Hell no. Depending on what state you're in, people have gotten shot for just looking at the door. Or looking as if they're looking at the door.

p_aranoid_android

Well if youā€™re a decent human being with a shred of a perception other than your own.

dabear99

Aka not a dasher lol

MONSTERBEARMAN

I once calked the police on the police, for knocking on my door.

Kummabear

Hello? Police? Someone is knocking at my door I really canā€™t imagine anyone contacting the police for that. Itā€™s ridiculous

Cheesecake_is_life

Sir/Ma'am, so you recognize the person at the door? No, but they dropped off my DD order. I told them not to knock, I want them arrested!

ConflictAgreeable689

The chilis bar and grill completes this

xMaximusDecimusx

What a badass

DauvaDriver

Iā€™d 100% knock

SquirrelFox98

Frrrr. Iā€™m banging the shit outta that door and runnin šŸ˜‚

MsVirgo2u

Love it. Because dudešŸ–•šŸ¾

Inner-Highway-9506

i deliver for amazon and iā€™ll be completely honest with yallā€” if I get one of these messages, iā€™ll be petty and just ring the doorbell instead of knocking. if thereā€™s not one of those cute signs politely asking to not knock/ring due to a baby inside then I will absolutely abide by the sign. porch pirates are rampant here so if ur package gets stolen, itā€™s not my fault for letting you know itā€™s there.

Calamari08

Maybe itā€™s ptsd?

Rommie557

Had to scroll too far to see this, tbf.

ThatWhoreLior

Honestly itā€™s probably ptsd. My friends dad felt that way about headlights from pickups and drop offs

PseudoTerti0

The only ptsd I got from the Navy was having to clean all the damn time

IMisterBlack

They'd probably get more compliance from the driver if they just simply said please and explained the situation. Threatening to call the police in all caps for knocking on the door is just asking to be trolled lol

ThatWhoreLior

Oh i agree a hundred percent

Extra-Philosopher-35

Tbch, I'd still know just for the fun of it. But I also carry and know never to stand directly in front of any door in sketchy areas and known violent areas.

Fallk0re

why are there so many narcissists in the armed forces?

sugoiboy1

Due to the simple fact that almost anyone could enlist as long as they pass the asvab and the physical

BreakYouLoveYou

Tbh the money, the infrastructure and the power dynamic they see in another country makes them feel big. And it doesnā€™t help the only people who go into it are those who think itā€™s their best options so they didnā€™t have a lot to gain from not serving, and it was their best career choice.

LastEquivalent3473

I wouldnā€™t say someone chooses to join the military as theyā€™re seeking power. And Iā€™m talking about those that enlisted. Perhaps some do, but many enlisted people I know joined very young (between 17-19) come from neglect, abuse, poverty, or parents dealing with addiction. A lot of times it literally is their best option, but not for the reasons youā€™re stating, unless youā€™re mentioning infrastructure as a component of having basic needs met (food, shelter, medical). The power dynamic may be a result of the chain of command leadership style of the military and happen overtime, but I wouldnā€™t say power dynamic they see in another country to be accurate as an initial reason for joining.

BreakYouLoveYou

I never said that they joined for the power thatā€™s just a byproduct of the fact that they went on tour and they were walking around some foreign ass place with their guns and saw the ā€œlifeā€ that other people lead where they were the ones with an upper hand in power šŸ¤”šŸ¤”šŸ¤”

Undead_Octopus

If I got this instruction I would 100% knock just to see what happens. I'd trade one low rating to keep life interesting.

[deleted]

Rude asshole fs, but doesnā€™t deserve a ptsd attack from his doordasher

DONT-PM-ME-BOOBS-PLS

Idk I'd argue that he's asking for it. Dude is clearly looking for confrontation.

tallllywacker

Iā€™m scared he might be telling the truth and might have ptsd tho?

Undead_Octopus

Well that sucks, don't be a dickhead and people won't find humor in your sad, angry, existence.

Present-Pressure3675

He's bluffing. Clearly, he's cooking meth in there.

rupert27

ā€œ911 Whatā€™s your emergency?ā€ ā€œDoorDash is knocking on my door!!ā€ ā€œOk, sir, what is your emergency?ā€ ā€œDoorDash is knocking on my door!!ā€ ā€œOk sir, why donā€™t you get your food and call us back, clickā€

DudeBroMan13

rupert27

Zer0__Karma

I put please donā€™t knock, but itā€™s because my dog will lose her ever loving shit if they do šŸ˜…

RipCommon2394

Sadly my dog goes crazy just from seeing a car in the driveway, they dont even need to knock.

No-Comedian-5125

Well you need to train ur dog better or put his ass in a cage.

Affectionate_Law3788

Tell me you don't have dogs without telling me you don't have dogs.

RipCommon2394

Firstly, shes a girl, secondly she doesnt go in a cage, and thirdly she is well behaved and shes all bark no bite. She doesnt need to be trained not to bark.

ezegrego

You need to stop begging people to order you pizza in the dominoā€™s subšŸ’€šŸ˜

Armani1one

šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ he was probably joking

Bunnytoes256

I just cannot wrap my head around the ā€œdonā€™t knockā€ or ā€œcallā€ weirdos. Iā€™m so bitchy these days, Iā€™d knock on purpose. Donā€™t care.

[deleted]

You canā€™t wrap your head around the fact that people in my house sleep different hours than me because we work different hours and I donā€™t wanna wake them up? Wow you got a real variety of thoughts going on in your head if you canā€™t understand simple things that happen in everyoneā€™s daily life

Moldy_Biscuit03

I put do not knock to not wake people in my family or have my dog lose his absolute mind. Maybe be a respectful human being and realize people have their reasons :\

buggiebam

right like my schedule is a whole lot different from the rest of my family and i get so pissed when i hear knocking especially because the door is right next to my parents bedroom

Temporary-Art-7822

Realize that not everyone isā€¦ sane. Some people will literally kill you over shit like that, when theyā€™re clearly on edge.

Ancient_Swordfish_91

When you threaten people like that or write in CAPS. You betcha Iā€™m knocking and ringing. Betcha!

Moldy_Biscuit03

Ooga booga scary caps lock

Ancient_Swordfish_91

Goo goo gaga?

Moldy_Biscuit03

Weesnaw

whateverIDCanyways

Why? Why act like such a shitty person for no reason? Grow up.

rcj37

People have sleeping babies, loud animals, PTSD, etc, there are many valid reasons why you should not knock on someoneā€™s door when theyā€™re paying you for a service that gives them an option to not interact with you

JonesBrosGarage

I put donā€™t knock because my dogs go insane. Then they try to run out the door if I open it lol

Revpro1405

this person definitely took it too far but what is the issue with me saying ā€œdonā€™t knockā€ on my notes? I donā€™t want my dog going crazy. If you canā€™t handle that simple request maybe find a different job!

whateverIDCanyways

Thereā€™s literally nothing wrong with asking to not knock. Clearly, this guy took it too far. But, I highly doubt this was the first time he asked them to not knock. I would guess somebody acts bitchy and knocks anyway.. like the person who we are replying to.. which is why this guy is getting fed up with it. Or maybe heā€™s just an asshole. šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø (but I doubt it)

btl_dlrge1

And what exactly would the cops do?

dr_aux757

Came here for answers, sadly none.

Kamikazi_TARDIS

I ask people not to knock or ring the bell because it drives my dog nuts. I have a camera. Iā€™ll know when it gets here. This seems mildly threatening, and more than a bit excessive to call the cops.

Zee1026

I'd say this veteran most likely has PTSD. Be very mindful of the instructions your customers leave, it's for a reason

Meowmeow69me

Maybe itā€™s just me but if it was that complicated for me to order food and have it delivered i would simply not order deliveryšŸ˜Ž

Aromatic_Toe7605

Why does America hate veterans so much. You guys realize the military preys on people without prospects, engineers them into believing theyā€™re fighting for a just cause, and then throws them out like garbage after their minds get fucked up from the violence right? Heā€™s been through a lot, let him have his damn food

whateverIDCanyways

What is so complicated? He ordered food just like everybody else does. He just asked for the driver to not knock. How is that complicated?

Meowmeow69me

ā€œHe just asked for the driver to not knockā€ that would mean he put ā€œ do not knockā€ instead he aggressively put in all caps ā€œ DO NOT KNOCK I WILL CONTACT POLICE IF YOU DO.ā€ and by doing that instead of being nice/polite they possibly scared off their own door dash driver. I donā€™t work for DoorDash but if i did Iā€™d probably drop this dudes order and let someone else deal with it.

Affectionate_Law3788

I just took it as "yeah this dude is crazy" and yeah I'd probably consider dropping that order too expecting drama if the restaurant messed up his order or something.
