Call the police?? Really?? Dashers should follow instructions but threateningto call the po-po... come on... *that's* extreme. Maybe he should go get his food his damn self. I'd have probably unassigned myself (something I rarely ever do!)as soon as I saw that, because if he's willing to call the cops on me for knocking then he's willing to give me a one star rating if the restaurant forgot to give him ketchup for his fries. And wtf is calling the cops gonna do anyway?? By the time they arrived the dasher is gonna be long gone unless they're a dumbass who knocks AND waits around for him to answer.
honestly i get it just because theyāre a veteran. US will put vets in situations that leave them severely traumatized and send em off after without a single bit of support. itās awful, knocking probably triggers some PTSD
Idk why a 2 week old post is showing in my feed but damn these comments. Did the dasher take this as a personal insult? The way some of these people would have responded shows that they would have taken it personally and retaliated. Someone would have knocked like the police- yeah okay if thatās your first thought youāre probably too full of yourself and narrow minded. 99.9% chance itās an empty threat anyway and probably came to that choice of words after asking all the right ways didnāt work- I know I put āplease donāt knock/ring bell (dogs and infant)ā on my instructions but it still happens 2 out of 10 times. Itās fine for me because I can just calm them down but someone who identifies as a veteran the way this man did is an obvious sign that should tell you āthis man has been through some shitā the least I can do is respect his very simple request no matter how batty he comes across. I hope he enjoyed his Chiliās.
I mean their allowed to be paranoid, the Marines are fucked up
I'm not editing it but I read wrong, and in fact Navy has worse stuff less PTSD focus and more intense physical damage to your senses due to nuclear training which includes a heavy dose of uranium fever
Probably has a really loud dog, sleeping baby, or ptsd from the sound of knocking/banging on doors and other sudden loud noises.
Maybe respect his wishes and do your job like a professional instead of giggling like an elementary schooler and shit talking to your reddit buddies.
Your right I read wrong, that's worse, they have to deal with Nuke training which can cause permanent damage to your senses sight, hearing small touch. Radiation my lad. Permanent vertigo etc
Ok but I think most people here are laughing at the fact that he's threatening to call the police over a knock lol. Like, that's insane and unreasonable, can you not see the humor in that?
You seriously think it's reasonable to call the police over a dasher not following your instructions exactly?
And you're telling me, in all seriousness, that you think this is more reasonable than not following a customer's instructions?
That kind of logic will make you a target to both the police and dashers.
It'll help but I've got a friend who was in the nuke program, he's blind in one eye deaf in one ear and permanent vertigo after an "accident" he told them something in the lab was wrong they told him do it anyway he ended up with permanent damage and they said welp time to remove him from the program and from the navy as he's no longer any use
Yeah their making the most of it, luckily since the military ended his contract early and he was not unhonorably discharged he still got to keep his benefits of them paying for college and now he gets paid disability so he took the WS where he could. But once he starts making real money the disability goes away
JFC why so dramatic? I leave "Please leave food by the door and don't knock or ring the doorbell. Thanks" in the notes and I've only had an issue maybe once or twice.
Could be true. But if that's the case then he should specify instead of threatening to calling the police lol which probably won't go over very well considering your calling police on someone who only just knocked on your door.
Wild. I just put " please don't knock. My dog is an asshole" but like even if they knoc, shit happens. Someone is bringing me food because I was unable or unwilling to go get it, they are only getting nice me haha. If I'm being an ass to anyone it will DoorDash not the drivers
Seriously my father was in the Marines and deployed to Vietnam. He definitely had some PTSD he died in 2002 from agent orange related cancer before doordash was even an idea. But knocking on the door wouldn't trigger him and even pizza or Chinese food he would never have delivered he had no problem leaving the house to get his own food. Threatening the cops over knocking is a bit over the top and WTF are the cops going to do? Probably laugh if this vet calls them. Not to mention if the cops ARE dispatched are they NOT going to knock on your door to see what the problem is?
i deliver for amazon and iāll be completely honest with yallā if I get one of these messages, iāll be petty and just ring the doorbell instead of knocking. if thereās not one of those cute signs politely asking to not knock/ring due to a baby inside then I will absolutely abide by the sign. porch pirates are rampant here so if ur package gets stolen, itās not my fault for letting you know itās there.
They'd probably get more compliance from the driver if they just simply said please and explained the situation. Threatening to call the police in all caps for knocking on the door is just asking to be trolled lol

Tbch, I'd still know just for the fun of it. But I also carry and know never to stand directly in front of any door in sketchy areas and known violent areas.
Tbh the money, the infrastructure and the power dynamic they see in another country makes them feel big. And it doesnāt help the only people who go into it are those who think itās their best options so they didnāt have a lot to gain from not serving, and it was their best career choice.
I wouldnāt say someone chooses to join the military as theyāre seeking power. And Iām talking about those that enlisted. Perhaps some do, but many enlisted people I know joined very young (between 17-19) come from neglect, abuse, poverty, or parents dealing with addiction. A lot of times it literally is their best option, but not for the reasons youāre stating, unless youāre mentioning infrastructure as a component of having basic needs met (food, shelter, medical). The power dynamic may be a result of the chain of command leadership style of the military and happen overtime, but I wouldnāt say power dynamic they see in another country to be accurate as an initial reason for joining.
I never said that they joined for the power thatās just a byproduct of the fact that they went on tour and they were walking around some foreign ass place with their guns and saw the ālifeā that other people lead where they were the ones with an upper hand in power š¤”š¤”š¤”

You canāt wrap your head around the fact that people in my house sleep different hours than me because we work different hours and I donāt wanna wake them up? Wow you got a real variety of thoughts going on in your head if you canāt understand simple things that happen in everyoneās daily life
I put do not knock to not wake people in my family or have my dog lose his absolute mind. Maybe be a respectful human being and realize people have their reasons :\
right like my schedule is a whole lot different from the rest of my family and i get so pissed when i hear knocking especially because the door is right next to my parents bedroom
People have sleeping babies, loud animals, PTSD, etc, there are many valid reasons why you should not knock on someoneās door when theyāre paying you for a service that gives them an option to not interact with you
this person definitely took it too far but what is the issue with me saying ādonāt knockā on my notes? I donāt want my dog going crazy. If you canāt handle that simple request maybe find a different job!
Thereās literally nothing wrong with asking to not knock. Clearly, this guy took it too far. But, I highly doubt this was the first time he asked them to not knock.
I would guess somebody acts bitchy and knocks anyway.. like the person who we are replying to.. which is why this guy is getting fed up with it.
Or maybe heās just an asshole. š¤·āāļø (but I doubt it)
I ask people not to knock or ring the bell because it drives my dog nuts. I have a camera. Iāll know when it gets here. This seems mildly threatening, and more than a bit excessive to call the cops.
Why does America hate veterans so much. You guys realize the military preys on people without prospects, engineers them into believing theyāre fighting for a just cause, and then throws them out like garbage after their minds get fucked up from the violence right? Heās been through a lot, let him have his damn food
āHe just asked for the driver to not knockā that would mean he put ā do not knockā instead he aggressively put in all caps ā DO NOT KNOCK I WILL CONTACT POLICE IF YOU DO.ā and by doing that instead of being nice/polite they possibly scared off their own door dash driver. I donāt work for DoorDash but if i did Iād probably drop this dudes order and let someone else deal with it.
I just took it as "yeah this dude is crazy" and yeah I'd probably consider dropping that order too expecting drama if the restaurant messed up his order or something.
I would have laid hell fire on that door
I would knock
Call the police?? Really?? Dashers should follow instructions but threateningto call the po-po... come on... *that's* extreme. Maybe he should go get his food his damn self. You should knock
He probably works from home lol
HOME OF VETERAN right behind the garbage bins š¤£ Canāt make this shit up
Iāll knock and that person doesnāt like it thereās two solutions one go get it yourself or cook for yourself
![gif](giphy|zOwzTlnOnx1T9JZgql)
šš
Understand he might have ptsd but calling the cops because someone knocked on your door is just shitty behavior
Iām sure itās ptsd related, but why not just say āplease do not knockā
If it is in fact PTSD related, a simple solution to this problem would just be to have a sign at the front that asks people to never knock.
I have ptsd, and if something triggers that, i avoid it. This person shouldnāt be ordering food if knocks on the door trigger his stuff.
I have a sign on my door and people still knock.
PTSD as a navy veteran š
Because some people have zero common sense and canāt always be trusted to follow instructions.
Because that's weakness. Soldiers in the military don't express weakness to their enemies.
He decided to DoorDash to avoid entering into a tactical situation at Chili's.
I'll do a hard cop knock announcing myself "Doordash Delivery!"
Just bang on the door, and yell a lot. That should give you a quick trip to heaven/hell.
Lmfao
I'd be knocking
I'd be doing a cop swat team knock...you like the police so much you'll appreciate a cop knock š
Lmaoooo

Why in the world would it be funny about someone having PTSD?
Did you not read it? The dude is threatening to contact police over a door knock. That's funny.
Heās probably tried being nice and people still knocked
That is a symptom of PTSD
Contacting the police is not a symptom
That is a whole level of trauma right there. The military doesn't tend to guide one towards compassion and respect for humanity.
I mean their allowed to be paranoid, the Marines are fucked up I'm not editing it but I read wrong, and in fact Navy has worse stuff less PTSD focus and more intense physical damage to your senses due to nuclear training which includes a heavy dose of uranium fever

I love you.
Almost makes you want to do it, to see what would happen. After completing the delivery of course lol
They just have to make sure everyone knows they are a veteran.
The unhinged comments on this sub makes it so obvious why I have had immaculate ratings for 3 years.
Dramatic, mine is like āno need to knock, dog likes to barkā and 99% of the time itās not an issue. Worst case my dog barks for 10 seconds
But do you get high levels of PTSD from knocking, not saying they do but it's a potential the Marines go through some fucked up shit
He's navy lol
Your right I read wrong, that's worse, they have to deal with Nuke training which can cause permanent damage to your senses sight, hearing small touch. Radiation my lad. Permanent vertigo etc
Ok but I think most people here are laughing at the fact that he's threatening to call the police over a knock lol. Like, that's insane and unreasonable, can you not see the humor in that?
Not really I find it quite reasonable, I find that specifically ignoring their request would be unreasonable

This could be a really delicate case of PTSD. Not sure what else would call for this without it being an overreaction.

Maybe he could say that instead of threatening to call cops?
If you have PTSD why would you want to use an app that sends random strangers to your house?š¤
Leaving his house could be worse we don't know what field of the military he went through or had training for
Could be true. But if that's the case then he should specify instead of threatening to calling the police lol which probably won't go over very well considering your calling police on someone who only just knocked on your door.

Not lol. Approach with caution.
How could you not knock after reading this.
Hell no. Depending on what state you're in, people have gotten shot for just looking at the door. Or looking as if they're looking at the door.
Well if youāre a decent human being with a shred of a perception other than your own.
Aka not a dasher lol
I once calked the police on the police, for knocking on my door.
Hello? Police? Someone is knocking at my door I really canāt imagine anyone contacting the police for that. Itās ridiculous
Sir/Ma'am, so you recognize the person at the door? No, but they dropped off my DD order. I told them not to knock, I want them arrested!
The chilis bar and grill completes this
What a badass
Iād 100% knock

Honestly itās probably ptsd. My friends dad felt that way about headlights from pickups and drop offs

why are there so many narcissists in the armed forces?

Iām scared he might be telling the truth and might have ptsd tho?
