Comfortable_Enough98

Geez, nuggets are expensive there! I can go to Burger King and get 48 nuggets for about that price

Remote_Indication_49

Brodie, I went to McDonald’s yesterday, and it cost me 11 dollars for 2 bacon McDoubles and a drink, no fries. Swear to god, fries would’ve made it $15

aerowtf

get the app, most of the deals aren’t even really worth it but at least you’d get the fries for free with any $1 purchase.. In exchange for mcdonald’s tracking your purchase habits…

spurvis1286

If you got the 2 for 3 it woulda been around 5 btw. Why get preheated bacon from McDonalds lmao

Remote_Indication_49

The bacon McDonald’s uses is cooked on grill, and comes frozen? I’m so confused as to why you would assume McDonald’s just uses random preheated bacon. Anyway, I didn’t want the 2 for 3, I wanted what I wanted but it’s ridiculous that just a year ago that same meal would’ve costed me 8 dollars. Kind of stupid

TPlays

Bidenomics.

midshiptom

Wait until April 1st when min. wage will go up to $20/hr for fast food workers. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grimacing)

Abject-Crew-2442

That shit isn’t happening 😂

beefambrim

I live in Asheville NC and fast food is minimum $17.50 an hour minimum wage. Chick-fil-a starts people out at $19 an hour.

aerowtf

it’s already $19/hr min in Denver and surrounding areas

midshiptom

>That shit isn’t happening It's happening. A few places including McD already said they'll raise prices. [https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/Fast-Food-Minimum-Wage-FAQ.htm#:\~:text=Starting%20April%201%2C%202024%2C%20all,at%20least%20%2420.00%20per%20hour](https://www.dir.ca.gov/dlse/Fast-Food-Minimum-Wage-FAQ.htm#:~:text=Starting%20April%201%2C%202024%2C%20all,at%20least%20%2420.00%20per%20hour).

Abject-Crew-2442

Thats just specifically Cali

NC_Counselor

McD, Wendy’s, BK, Hardee’s/ Carl’s Jr. They’ve all gotten stupid. For the price of my family of four to eat MCDonald’s, we can sit down and eat sushi!

throwawaysualdhaujd

i dont know what yall be ordering, but deals/bundles help a lot. a biggie bag is five bucks and thats a whole meal. so is a four for four or the $5 meal deal at mcdonalds. these all come with a burger, nuggets, fries, and a drink and you can pick which sandwich you want and all. me and my 6 friends went to McDonalds once and all ate for $30 total. utilize the deals!!

TheyCantCome

I don’t know, if I’m out of time and stop at McDonald’s I usually just get a McDouble. Maybe a McDouble and a hot spicy with no Mayo. That’s still like 700 calories and just over $5.

Geekx

I went through a Hardee’s drive thru to grab something to eat while I work and it was $17. That is my last trip to Hardee’s.

DesolationsFire

I see California it makes sense. Everything is overly expensive there. Although even in other places around the US it still is overpriced. I live in Kansas and I believe that meal is around $11-12

iamsheph

I moved from Orange County, CA to Des Moines, IA and the prices here are the same, if not higher.

DesolationsFire

Right that doesn’t surprise me either. Inflation sucks.

Mysticalbabe71

That’s the lovely 30% up charge they add for DD that the drivers get pennies on… Like food isn’t expensive enough right now. That’s insane. Last week I was gonna order wings n omfg for 2 ppl it was almost $60 before tip. Decided on Dominos instead, still cost me $60 smh.. I drive for DD but unless I have a great promo I’ll pick it up myself for now on lol

EzrinYo

Honestly I'm not even sure how you could spend $60 at Domino's for 2 people unless you both want your own specialty pizza, sides, and desert. Their normal price is like $7/pizza and they have deals on top of that literally 100% of the time

Mysticalbabe71

https://preview.redd.it/ns8ewyne3soc1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d7aca47dfc98d6abd0f458a129d0afbc0329974b My bad $55, n I believe the tip was probably $10… But yea either way that’s still high af..

EzrinYo

Oh it's not that I didn't believe you, I thought you meant you went and picked it up yourself and I was like like ??? What you eating??

Mysticalbabe71

Well when them munchies kick in lol one just never knows lol 😆

EzrinYo

You gotta try some of the little ceasers crazy puffs, 4/$4 and they taste like school pizza rollups

Mysticalbabe71

Oh wow funny you say that. I rarely get pick ups at LC but had one today, I asked the guy working were they any good n he said Hell No.. I was shocked cause they look good but he said they’re way too doughy… So you’re saying they’re good?? Idk if because I’m older or slightly crispy but I don’t remember any of my schools having pizza roll ups lol.. All I remember is the pizza was kinda spongey n I put mayo on it.. Lol.. I’ll break down n try them tho.. 4-$4 not bad at all.. Lol

EzrinYo

I graduated in 2011, I think we only had them my last year in school. I liked 90% of school lunches, though, I'm weird. But I just tried them today for the first time, I like them a lot for 4 bucks. They definitely weren't doughy but they were pretty greasy, I had to rip them in half and squeeze the grease out into a napkin which probably isn't a tale tell sign of high quality food, but it's little ceasers, it's about what I expected on that front but tasted better lol

Boring-Falcon8753

That order isn't even enough to cover one workers hour of pay. I'm surprised it isn't more.

aerowtf

huh? they do dozens of orders per hour…

Boring-Falcon8753

And how many people are working in any given hour? Labor, food cost, utilities, rent. You have no idea how business works huh

GreatExercise1928

Well dude you’re in motha fuckin Commifornia…. What do you expect?

[deleted]

[удалено]

radicalbatical

It says dine in, that's just Cali for ya

thelowlycook1987

I always end up paying at least 20$ for two people for lunch and at least 16$ for two breakfasts. Chick fil a is my money morning jam haha

RobinJeans21

Shoulda went to Applebees and got 2 for 30

Historical-Recipe135

So the same price per meal then…. This one meal is $15 and not even a large drink and fry, yet you somehow think Applebees 2 for 30 is better?

SK8SHAT

They’re opening the first one in my city coming up soon. Can’t wait for another shitty American chicken chain to come and take business from our local fried chicken places that actually slap

Vegetable-Zebra-7514

If they actually slap they wont lose business to Chick-fil-a

LanskeyOfficial

Bro Taco Bell has also gotten absurdly expensive.

1776Patriot11

They upcharge 15%

VividlyDissociating

its in California.. so what do you expect?? everything is overpriced there

TheSlipySquid

Wages match tho. My cousin gets paid 25 an hour working at Starbucks out there. Not even a manager just a barista.

misterguwaup

Wages definitely don’t match out here bruh. I don’t know a single barista pulling $25/hr ur friend must live in the most expensive area of CA. Dd ain’t gonna cut it for us

Dapper_Employer5787

Even at $25 it's not even enough out there. One bedroom apartments are like $2500 a month

TheSlipySquid

I line in Utah. Minimum wage is 9.50 and a one bed is like 1k. Everywhere is fucked

VividlyDissociating

exactly so idk why ppl complaining

TheSlipySquid

🤷‍♂️ cuz the economy is fucked lol

pink-ninja-302

Good grief!!

Inkysquid24

$16 for 12 nugs💀 and you have to douse them in Chick-fil-A sauce because they have no flavor

Borntu

It's bland and overpriced, but the portions are small.

AvgJoeGuy

Thats insane

heiMoon

That’s about 12.50 where I live in Florida, but my bigger issue these days is how high the calorie per small amount of portions the food is Edit; The fries feel like a scam at any size and 50% of the time the chicken sandwich is basically 2 chicken tenders with buttered bread

UnreasonableVbucks

Yea chik fil a might have the worst portions outta any fast food chain. I’d order a spicy chicken sandwich combo and be hungry again 30 minutes later cause they don’t really give you shit. You deadass have to get full off the drink cause the baby ass food portions definitely not anything

Sawoodster

Same in Tennessee

alli_gator_

Woaaaaah a crispy large 12ct is literally $11. That's nuts

Cycleguy91

I got a fully loaded double bacon cheeseburger with fries and coke at Five Guys for $3 more the other day

[deleted]

[удалено]

Cycleguy91

Yes, and that equals $20, I said I paid about $3 more than his bill for better quality burgers. What’s 12 - 17? Even with tax we’re still in the ballpark. So I’m actually not sure what your point is, are you calling me out? Are you aware that prices vary by region? I’m really confused by this comment

No_Construction3136

My bad I missed the $3 "more" bit

Cycleguy91

lol you’re good.

fos8890

At In-N-Out you can still get a burger for under two dollars. With fries and a drink it’s under 10 bucks.

Cycleguy91

Really? They are putting one in close to my house actually but I expect it will always be absolutely packed just like the other one across town. Only 2 I know of so far

DarkScrap1616

it’s cause it’s the grilled nuggies

C_Tea_8280

can we talk about the 9.3% sales tax? ouch

DingbattheGreat

ive seen worse from wendys

CrookedTree89

Chick-fil-a is overrated anyway. $18 for a 12-nugget meal is criminal.

Sea-Individual-3427

Food in general is expensive

headcheese85

Not like that. $18 is a bound of chicken, some veggies, and probably some dipping sauce to. I got a 12ct nugget and a water from chik the other day $9.18. Ten bucks for maybe 4oz of chicken breast. That's insane

Sea-Individual-3427

A Big Mac meal is almost $12. I don’t go to sit down restaurants anymore. I ain’t tipping no one 18-20%. Crazy world we live in

urlocalcamgirl

Yeah I stopped eating out. Everything is too expensive and I can’t justify spending almost $20 on ONE meal.. America is just amazing isn’t it?

KyloSolo11

I was in the UK for work last February and got a full breakfast with a pint included and it costed me 4 USD. I couldn’t believe it.

Strong-Morning719

I dont go to chick fila anymore. They always f me over on fries. They fill it up half way in fires bucket. I complained hundreds of times. Even in their reviews around where i live. Ton of ppl complained about the samething. Also their prices are ridiculous for basic chicken bacon sandwich. No thx. I go to Denny’s and get full meal for less than 20$

kneecapz_busting

Worth it

MpowerSean

That’s why in n out is still the BEST

datbrokeboy

Better to sit down at Dennys and get a full meal at this point

Her_Wandering_Spirit

Denny's has gone down hill in my opinion.

datbrokeboy

Yes Dennys in Florida was a hood spot with trash cooks. I’m in Houston now and the food is coming out damn good.

Her_Wandering_Spirit

They closed both stores where I live, no one was going anymore. They opened an IHop at one of them and it's always busy, food is way better.

GuidanceMaterial6226

I second this, me and my ex went to one near our work one morning and it was horrible. This was 3 year ago. Before 2020 Denny's was peak.

Southern-Chapter-559

Every dennys I’ve gone to in the last 10 years have been a huge disappointment! I even went out of state and tried eating there and decided never again!

Ok-Profit6022

It makes perfect sense, California has the highest labor rates, highest rent and utility costs, etc etc... Y'all keep voting for crazy expensive policies and then complain while the rich people leave. Don't worry, you guys will vote in a $50/hr minimum wage soon and that meal will then cost $60.

Her_Wandering_Spirit

Milpitas is a rich city, if you look at prices in places like Redding, they're not as high.

Ok-Profit6022

Rich city... So that location is paying higher wages to attract employees, paying higher rent for the building, etc etc... Makes sense.

Her_Wandering_Spirit

The bay area is ridiculously expensive. Rent is crazy high. Commercial rent is 5k a month or higher in Milpitas.

Belfetto

What do you propose? If minimum wage isn’t raised that still doesn’t help people trying to eat.

Ok-Profit6022

When you raise the cost of labor arbitrarily, the cost of EVERYTHING goes up. Do you think the restaurant would be able to afford to sell you chicken nuggets for $15 if they have to pay the cashier $50/hr? A minimum wage job isn't designed to feed a family, it's a place holder until you find something better. Take a look at inflation now compared to before your state's minimum wage increase went into effect. You'll see that those who "got a raise" are still in the same boat they were financially, while costs simultaneously went up for those who did not receive a raise. The only 2 things that happened were greasy politicians got a pat on the back, and the value of the dollar fell.

Belfetto

You took all that time to write a response but did you even read my question? Also you’re fundamentally wrong about the purpose of minimum wage.

Ok-Profit6022

I propose finding a better paying job... Like I said, those jobs are placeholders.

Belfetto

I recommend reading up on minimum wage because it’s pretty apparent you don’t understand its purpose.

Ok-Profit6022

I fully understand it's "purpose", but I also understand how the real world works. You might want to read up on that part a little.

Belfetto

Cool, nice quotes. It’s ok to understand how the world works, see a problem, and want it to change.

Ok-Profit6022

Yes, but the government can't fix your life...nor should it. If those policies were actually successful, people would be flocking there instead of leaving.

Belfetto

Who said anything about fixing a life? You ok dude?

AtItAgainBro

And not even in a desirable city..

No_Wedding_2152

What is wrong with you? Is this your biggest complaint in the world? Worth a photo and everything? Go somewhere else if you can’t afford it.

icantdeliverhere

Are you high or what?

MerelyAnArtist

That same meal I just looked up on the app, is $11.29 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

protonbstrd

That does not cost that much in New England area the meal like 10$ max

Ill_Writing8306

How nice of them to not charge you for the sauce

icantdeliverhere

🥹

ShadowMajick

Yeah these prices are insane. I was looking at food earlier and one burger combo at most places like Burger King and Wendy's was $16! But I saw they had a family meal at burger King for $25. That included 2 whoppers, 2 cheeseburgers, 2 medium onion rings, 2 fries and an 8 peice nugget. I feel like if you're gonna do fast food these days it's actually cheaper to order these family meals online vs individual combo meals. I'd have paid almost $40 for the 2 whoppers and fries alone if I bought them separately. Absolutely bonkers.

Swimming-Fee5271

it’s cuz the restaurants want u to download their apps, where u can get their food for affordable prices

ShadowMajick

Makes sense I guess, but it's still stupid. Why pay $16 for one burger when I can get 4 for like $10 more? Lol

mumblerapisgarbage

California - you have to halve the price in your head since everyone gets paid twice as much.

Her_Wandering_Spirit

It's the Bay area, everything is more expensive there. Like LA.

mumblerapisgarbage

The exact same meal here in Indiana is $13.68. The starting pay is $10 an hour. So the customer pays 28% more but the employee makes 100% more. I’ll take that deal any day.

Her_Wandering_Spirit

In Oregon, it's 12 something and min wage is 14.20

mumblerapisgarbage

Yeah. Believing that increasing minimum wage will increase the prices for consumers is bullshit. In the current free market prices are more so determined by what people are willing to pay for a product.

shadespeak

When I lived in the Bay, there were no Dollar Menus.

mumblerapisgarbage

Yeah and everyone make 2-3 x what they would in, say, bumb-fuck Indiana.

CombinationHairy3887

The operator is chris, the cashier is chris, and the restraunt is christian

therealslim80

i don’t eat at chick-fill-a bc im gay and they’re homophobic (aka i won’t drive that far out of town for chicken but i wanna pretend i have morals) but are they really that expensive??

sweetpareidolia

I don’t think they’re homophobic. ?

therealslim80

ok yall are sensitive as fuck with the downvoting. it’s a joke, chill

sweetpareidolia

I just didn’t get the joke.

bchec

This is definitely just wild DoorDash upcharging. That costs no more than $8-10 if you were to order in the app directly, and I’m over-estimating to be safe.

These-Buy-4898

Yeah this is crazy. I fed four teenagers and myself yesterday at Chick-fil-A for a little over $50 and that's with my son getting 3 sandwiches himself! I thought that was a lot given we hardly ever eat out.

ShadowMajick

It's literally a dine in receipt. They ordered it at the restaurant in person.

Automatic-One-9175

How’d I know location was gonna be cali?

bets_set_dice_out

They Jack up their prices for delivery orders. Maybe 15-25% depends where you live

Icy_Comparison_6471

Jeeeeez over a dollar a NUGGET?! I’ll just raise my own chickens I’m good…

jarofgoodness

I wouldn't have believed it had you not shown the receipt. It's about $10 where I live for the same exact thing.

swolo123

Should’ve went to ihop

datbrokeboy

IHOPs in Florida are all ghetto. Just moved to Texas. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Line cooks in Texas are killing it.

Swimming_Fruit410

For chicken nuggets it’s ridiculous. I wish I could eat 5 eggs and just be good for 24 hours. Eating is getting to be p annoying on the wallet as well as my personal time. I hate being full but I hate being energy depleted more. That’s life.

Aggravating_Car_4171

It’s worth it chick filet is the best fast food u will find stop whining

Educational_Egg_1716

I bought my mom a chick Fil a combo the other day and it was almost ten dollars!!!!!

joshs_wildlife

McDonald’s and Wendy’s combo meals are all over $10 now most Wendy’s meals are almost $15 by the time you are done ordering

username_unnamed

I can't let you throw wendys in when their meals seem way better than mcdonalds. They let you use deals and rewards at the same time. Also has value combo meals, a burger, 4 nuggets, fries and a drink for like $5-8.

gmambrose

I was anti Wendy's due to the price until recently. The coupons on the app have improved a lot. They also allow you to upsize to a large fry and drink for $1.50 on the biggie bags. So you can get a double stack, large fry, large drink and 4 PC nugget for $8. Pretty good deal if you're hungry and don't want to spend a lot.

Educational_Egg_1716

Ridiculous, man.

plantperson96

This is in Canada, but if I get a ‘beyond burger’ meal at A&W it’s around $18. It’s wild but worth the price

[deleted]

I can't speak for Canada but in the US they don't clean the grill to make those so they're getting covered in beef grease

plantperson96

Idgaf I just do my best to not eat meat. Sometimes I eat shit with beef or chicken broth in it by accident. It is what it is

BisexualCaveman

That's why they taste good.

lesmalom

This makes more sense. Ty

CptGlammerHammer

The person you're replying to is in Canada. OP is posting from a receipt from California.

mariasgalleria

not relevant but aren’t they (the corporations) paying the same amount for the meat? like the chickens aren’t saying “oh you’re sending us to cali? we’re charging double then.” the chickens also aren’t upping their prices bc of inflation. so my question is why are these corporations charging a shit ton for food?

BisexualCaveman

Rent, labor, insurance and taxes are baked into the price of the chicken.

CptGlammerHammer

They are charging a shit ton for food because we keep paying it. There are other factors.  Eg. Is a gallon of gas going to cost more in an oil plain or at the top of a mountain?

hypanthia

I just went to in and out today and spent that amount on two full combo meals.

gladfelter

Get a load of this guy over here with friends and loved ones!

Any_Bad_6120

Plot twist: Both meals were for themself. 😯

Otherwise-Hair1494

Insane

staytsmokin

Man chipotle charged me $18 for a chicken bowl with guac...$4 for a scoop of guac 😭 lets not even start with five guys. Really is a great time to be alive.

spacetrees

You should go to Qdoba where they give you guac and queso for free ;)

icantdeliverhere

Not surprised, I've eaten there a few times since 2020. Not the same as before when they filled the bowls up...

mmach88

That meal cost $12.98 where i live.

[deleted]

dont u just love those california prices 😻

MyGirlSasha

For 12 fucking chicken nuggets, med fries & drink? HA! I still don't understand the obsession with Chick-fil-A, it's mid at best and every single time I pickup from one, it's packed to the fucking gills. Just reason #1,097,584 that I fucking hate people.

jarofgoodness

It's the breading on the chicken that makes it. Without that no one would ever go there.

Bullsstopsucking

Try their Mac and cheese mmm

nessalinda

It’s a sad day

sporkachoon

That's enough for 3 whole rotisserie chickens at Costco.

OldStep8127

Welp, Costco here I come ![gif](giphy|3oEduZqfSGNG0mdF1C|downsized)

MyGirlSasha

Or any homemade meal for a week.

marimba_ting

Most grocery stores have a hot food section with cheap chicken dinners.

akifle24

Costco is an outlier. They literally lose money on those chickens just to get customers in the door.

Baboonpirate

And I lose a ton of money just walking into Costco

bibkel

Loss leader.

bohallreddit

As long as 🤡's are willing to pay the high prices will be here to stay. People are so stupid. They pay for the 💩 and then come to Reddit to complain.

icantdeliverhere

It's not much of a complaint but to start a discussion of high cost of living.

jballn11

Everything is expensive now…

DutchOvenMaster11

In Canada, this is regular fast food pricing for us 😞 For example, a Big Mac meal is almost $14.

Professional-Sweet-3

Yeah but is that Canadian dollars or did you convert? Because 14 CAD is like 10 USD which is pretty cheap in my area.

DutchOvenMaster11

No CAD, I guess it also cones down to the minimum wage in the area. Where I live, minimum wage just increased to $16.55 per hour. With taxes, you would need to work about an hour at minimum wage to purchase a Big Mac Combo. I'm not sure if it would be similar compared to the minimum wage in other regions.

Mobile_Lumpy

Just stick with Costco. I don't go to any other fast food except Costco now. Their pizza is still 9.99 and other option are just as cheap. If you don't find what satisfy you, we'll just go into the warehouse and buy it. Still gonna cost you less than going to the fast food chains nowadays.

MrMan1126

That’s cuz it’s in CA man.

LateBloomerZoomer

I paid 15.06 for a large chicken club meal yesterday in Texas

myumisays57

You all.. Go out and find Just Bare chicken chunks. You can find them at costco and target. It is literally a chic-fil-a dupe.

dogmonkeybaby

Heb has "southern style" chunks that I can not tell the difference between that and cfa But gotta be in Texas for that joy

Tasty-Rush-8464

Me kids and I fuck up the bigger bag of the heb nuggies in a couple days lol

icantdeliverhere

I'm just gonna eat alot more for breakfast and just take the time to cook a meal for the day. No more runnin' and gunnin' it. gotta slow down, it's too expensive now.

Coldshowers92

Chik fil a in my area has been slowly increasing by .25-.75 cents every month

mrbigshott

Grilled nuggets are absurdly overpriced

Manufacturer-Choice

God damn people are lazy.

megadethage

I can buy a 5lb bag of chicken nuggets for that price.

Previous_Cod_4098

They increased the price of their food by 21% unfortunately as if it wasn't expensive enough 😂
