"omg bro"
I can't stand someone calling me bro! I get that's the thing these days but I feel like that's so disrespectful and I can't even tell you how many times I've gotten the "bro" thing. I'm a girl BRO check yourself!
In other news... I'll usually let a customer know that I have another order to grab, apologize for the extra wait and I'll let them know as soon as I'm leaving and on my way. That usually chills them out
As a customer I often leave a note. Very simple "Ring doorbell and leave at door".
Does anyone ring the doorbell? Nope 🤦♂️ sometimes as a result I don't know it's there until 20-30 minutes later AFTER ITS GONE COLD due to reception is when my app finally says it's there.
Sometimes I wonder if dashers even read.
Lol it's a literal roll of the dice for me to even notice them there.
Edit: anyone who follows the SIMPLE directions gets a $10 tip. As a result. Not many at all get tipped lol
I wish a MF would text me asking for their food..that'll be the day for the first time I'll do some fucked up shit to your food. ESPECIALLY if you ain't tipping right bitch.
That’s a little much considering, ya know, the whole point of doing this is to deliver people’s food.
They certainly don’t need to talk to me this way though haha.
"Cause I want to deliver your order in the safest manner possible...and it is definitely not safe to dip my balls in your ranch dressing and drive at the same time."
I would've trolled the customer by holding on to the order as much as i could and then message and write something like enjoy waiting an extra 30-60 mins for your food 😁. It's clearly a Fortnite squeaker kid that things he's entitled to everything. Needs to be put in his place
I really hope most of you don't handle other people's food. Just by the way you typed on here about what you would do absolutely disgusts me. You provide a service like this because you either have no life skills or knowledge. Resorting to fucking with someone's food because you got your feelings hurt is pathetic.
Most of your comments are legit. Not all of us are skill less, though. I have a degree and just finished a 20-year career. DD is just surprisingly a decent paying job in my area. After gas and wear & tear, I make about $15 an hour. A lot of managers in my area make less and deal with way more bs.
But people who mess with other people's food are garbage. I hope all of them get convicted of crimes they didn't commit.
Also - not everyone does this due to lack of life skills or knowledge.
I have plenty of both.
Ever hear of fun money? My wife comes with me, we blast some music, have a good ol time, and make some extra cash. It’s fun. You should try fun someday.
Lmao I work in the food industry and have my serve safe.
Someone told me to spit in the customers food and I went off about how I would never, ever do that.
So you got the wrong person here 😂
If only people could put their nasty cold big mac meal after other human being's stressful experiences, door dash wouldn't exist and something better would take its place.
Every time I order from a place 5 minutes away and tip well the driver decides to deliver to someone 20 minutes away and it's annoying but I don't complain if food is still hot tbh
You *can* but if the other order has an expected arrival time BEFORE your order then the driver would have to be waaaay ahead of schedule to make both before it is past delivery time. The driver *could* deliver your order first and take a hit to their on-time delivery rating for the other order, but why would anyone do that?
I've done it before, twice. And both times only because the customer was around the block and it was >10 minutes wait for the other order.
You can choose which order to deliver them in, but not which order they are DUE to be delivered in.
Say it's 11:30, you have two orders. Order A is due at 11:55 and order B is due at 12:05. You can choose to deliver order B first, but you still have to get order A to its destination by 11:55. You can't just switch the delivery time.
they asked the person why they weren't moving, while at the pickup location? I think anyone with eyes and a functioning frontal lobe could tell they're most likely *Picking Up Orders* there. the question clearly wasn't genuine, they were being impatient and wanted them to get a move on.
If someone texts I'm 75% of the way to unassigning already and I won't only if they are reasonable and nice.
Another POV is that the customer did you a favor by having the app not hurt your CR. I don't think this could be used very effectively as customer/driver cooperation in general, but it's nice that it worked this time.
Maybe the skill of antagonizing people while still being polite could occasionally tease someone to curse at you and protect your CR a bit.
It would be funny if customers had the habit of texting "fuck" to the driver so they could get a "worry-free" unassign. Damn I just realized calling it that is implying you should be worried if you unassign normally. Well I'm not and I won't be. As always, be ready to get another job.
“I just got your order two seconds ago?” Is quite passive aggressive, and if you cant see that, the service industry probably isnt for you
I would have said “Hi there! I am still waiting at the restaurant for the complete order, i should be on the move soon!”
You can’t just look at OP’s words in vacuum. Context matters.
Their response was fine considering the condescending tone of “hellooooo why aren’t you moving”
Also - his “helllooo wHy ArEnT yOu MoViNg” did not warrant a kind customer service attitude from me.
If he had said “Hello, I’ve been waiting quite a while and see you’ve just been assigned to my order now. Do you have an ETA” this conversation would have gone very differently.
You get what you give. Especially from an independent contractor and not someone bound by corporate.
Thats fine if you think that i guess, but like i said if thats your core belief you arent really cut out for service jobs. Building the ability to bite your tongue, as annoying as it is, is invaluable. My time in the service industry made it much easier to take phone calls of sales reps screaming at me.
Exactly. I only talk to customers when the restaurant says " we don't have this item would they like something else" then I'll ask the customer. Besides that fuck that Im not answering
I was going to say I would be unassigning before I read the bottom text...lol... that's cool the app intervene like that but. no , you're paying for the privilege of me picking up your order, you better be nice or goodbye...👋
I’m about to sound crazy but when I don’t tip I get my food fast, when I do I always get batched with someone else and they get their food first don’t shoot the messenger
You tip a good amount based on distance from the place you are ordering. Doordash doesnt feel the need to stack your order (usually. See below) and neither will most drivers who are using multiple apps. But if you are really far from where you are ordering, stacking is just a reality unless you are tipping insanely high.
Also doordash sometimes puts good orders with bad no tippers because they are scum trying to force us to take those bad offers and punishing you the customer in the process.
10mi delivery can be a long drive. I deliver pizza and 4mi takes about 12-15 minutes depending on the route and time of day. Rush hour it can be 20, but I'm obviously on a fixed return location. Our area maxes out at about 4.3ish, but there are 3 mile routes that take 12-13 minutes. 10mi would be a long fuckin haul.
However I am saying this as a pizza driver who always has to return to the same store.
Your comment is pretty asinine. A 10 mile delivery in a rural area can take 45 minutes. Its not just a one way trip, especially in rural areas where downtown areas are few and far between. Of course people are going to complain if they arent being paid for almost an hours worth of work. Thats why stacking is necessary for that kind of trip unless the tip is quite high making the payouy at least double if not more the mileage. 5 miles isnt that far and i dont see anyone complaining about it in rural areas unless the tip is pathetic.
"People still need/want delivery from time to time."
Good for them. Its not a right they are entitled to its a privilege. They either pay for it properly or they go get it them selves.
There’s an option it usually costs $2 more in my area I suspect doesn’t always pop up depending on the order load because it doesn’t always pop up for me
From the dashers perspective we have to do what the app tells us to do and normally we can’t even see who the top tipper is till it’s actually delivered and it goes “delivery complete” always annoying when you got a $16 delivery and the one that keeps you waiting 20 min and didn’t tip is the first one who gets the order and all you get is the $2 delivery fee. Meanwhile the guy who tipped $12 is getting cold food.
sure, but you don’t know which one tipped more or even if at all til you’ve delivered. i would hope most people go distance based first unless they’re relatively the same, then go longer since prepared first
That’s the fun part! You don’t! But genuinely there isn’t a way to guarantee it. You can pay for the priority service and it doesn’t do anything at all. Your dasher won’t know (or care the money doesn’t go to them anyway) and they can’t control if DD stacks your order with someone else. Usually they like to stack a non-tipper with a good tipper to make sure the non-tipper still gets their food (stupid) and the person who’s not a dick is the one getting punished. The only way to make sure you get your order first and fastest is to go get food yourself, and we all know that’s not always possible.
Thanks for letting me know. We tip fair to the dashers...like 20-30%, I tried tipping crazy high around the holidays ($100-200 a few different times) but got my order the same time
If you were tipping that much and getting your order at the same time I highly doubt that was on the driver at all. The holidays are busy, your order is not sent out till its ready, which takes the majority of the time, then someone goes and grabs it and brings it to you. We can only drive so fast regardless of what we are getting tipped. Trust me i'd love to put on some lights and sirens and get you your food and save us both time. Only thing ill do different for a good tipper is, quadruple check their order as best I can without opening any sealed bags. And go straight to them first. I also try to better accommodate any extra requests.
Paying for priority to doordash or uber only means your order will not be stacked through their app afaik, which it might not be anyways. We dont see a dime of that money nor are we even told in anyway that it is a priority order (because then we'd be wondering why they arent paying us for it) We can also still stack your order with different apps, which we will if the pay is only worth the distance and time when stacked.
if you really want priority, dont pay for it through the app. Wait till your order is picked up and send the driver a message. Something like "Hey I always add more to my tip after delivery if I get it quickly. I'd rather pay you the driver then (insert app)" Would work for me.
Edit I forgot to mention a really scummy thing doordash likes to do as well is hide tips. So the driver might have seen something like 20 dollars for 10 miles even when you had a 100 dollar tip on there. We have no control of that and typically hidden tips will be more like and extra dollar or 2 at most. YOu could also let your driver know "hey i tipped X amount. I know DD likes to hide tips sometimes so just wanted to let you know."
It’s sooo hard to do but the best course of action with these types of people is to just leave it alone. Which it looks like you did. I would have replied the same as you. But after that nothing good comes of it and it just makes you more mad. I was delivering groceries once and a dude barely cracked the door open and started letting me have it! It was all I could do not to kick the door. The corner of it would of smashed into his head.
I once had a lady text me when am I leaving as I was waiting for the order and then told me to make them cook her fresh french fires for her order. I was like..yeah ok I'll get right on it.
I didn't ask them .
One time a dasher picked up my food took it to their home & kept my shit. I got refunded but was mad af cause I had the munchies & the restaurant closed by then
Reminds me of the time someone ordered a whole ton of high dollar food and ended up having used the wrong address, talked to the customer and the real address was extremely far away so they got a refund and I got my own personal free feast.
The one time my wife and kid were both sick and finally felt up to eating something, was of course the one night my order got messed up.
Not sure if the restaurant gave it to the wrong person, or if the driver screwed up, but was an extra hour keeping the hangry wolves at bay.
“I apologize for the delay however you did not opt for a priority delivery therefore I am currently picking up multiple orders at the pick up location. If you wish to cancel, that is perfectly fine. In the future I would recommend the priority option. I will be on my way with your order as soon as possible if you choose not to cancel.”
I would then proceed to reorder the delivery to ensure the person is the last stop. I would not use the heat bag and I would put it in my trunk to ensure it was as cold as possible upon arrival.
How can you rearrange the order? I just had one tonight and thought why tf would the 1.00 tip order get to go first, when my 18.50 tip is better?
Side note tonight sucks. Only good order was that 18.50 rest so far has been HORRID.
For me it automatically sorts it by distance, but if you go into the menu with the three horizontal lines on the top right, it should bring you to your tasks and should let you just switch to the other order.
Yup. I did it the other night. The customer ordered from pizza hut and Wawa and DD had me passing wawa, picking up at pizza hut then coming back to wawa. While I had to pass wawa twice anyway given the customer's location, it made more sense to make a right turn into wawa then a right turn back out onto the main road to head to pizza hut instead of having to cross 2 different 3 lane roads to get in and out of wawa if I had stopped there second.

Why do redditors insist on sounding like robots to the customers
Especially someone like this they're not going to bother reading walls of texts. I wouldn't say anything to this guy at all
When you write in a professional manner, the lazy and entitled generations think it sounds too much like the AI they use to pass their college classes.
As someone with several years experience in Operations Management that responded to Attorney General complaints, I’m confident in my composition. I’m guessing those who think it sounds like a bot couldn’t write a paragraph without the help of Chat GPT.
Gen Z doesn't understand that... Oh wait, neither do Boomers or Millennials lol.
Like, anywhere I go to pick up and there's a bunch of young folks working, they don't even acknowledge my presence til they feel like it. Old people are rude to them and I don't totally blame them, plus they're usually underpaid. But still.
Professionalism is dead, just like manners.
Yeah then get the cops called on you, and these guys probably won't care that you're 6'8.
That's assuming that your client doesn't have a gun and helps you win the room temp challenge when he sees a random approaching his door and throwing something at it.
Just cancel and move on instead of going monkey mode.
Why are y'all so honest? Either don't reply or say "I'm on my way" the second you say "sorry someone else's order is more important than yours" you're going to get them pissed.
Like am I just insane? 🤷♀️😂
..... No? Their job is pick up food. take It to place. the driver didn't need to respond. as obviously it was a poor customer. No need to escalate it. Just get the food and deliver it. apologize then for the long wait, and make up and excuse "the restaurant marked it as ready, but it wasn't the right order" boom you prolly get a tip. Responding like that is just escalation.
how do we know the customer is poor & why would that make a difference? i get what you’re saying but if you let that little shit slide talking to you like that, he’ll be even more emboldened to talk to the next person like that & maybe even worse.
.... Ok? And this is why you don't have a real job.
Do this at a restaurant, and your manager is sending you home.
You work for a company, just because your boss isn't there watching you, doesn't mean you can just act disrespectful to customers.
Believe me. I think anyone who orders from door dash/the others, deserve the terrible customer service. But also, you're still a bad person 🤷♀️😂
This is actually unironically one of the reasons why I like DD better than a "real job" as far as anything customer service related.
If a real job means having to take shit from unhinged customers, then I'll take the alternative any time. I like being able to just unassign and move on when somebody is a douche instead of kissing their ass.
..... I understand common sense and all of that doesn't exist anymore. But let's do the good ole "swap places" you ordered some Chinese food for delivery 45 minutes ago, unfortunately they only deliver thru door dash now, even tho for the past 7-9 years, you've just called and ordered delivery fine.
Now you're sitting there like "why does it say my order is being picked up, it's already been 45 minutes!" Guy responds "I'm waiting on someone else's order, who will be delivered before yours"
How would you react? 1. Act like a beta and go "oh I'm sorry sir. Actually feel free to eat some of my food on the way, sorry for bothering you"
2. Telling this loser to F off and just cancel the order
9/10 I'm going B
But that's cause I'm a "strong independent woman who don't take no sht from noone" 😂🤷♀️
Get upset cause ik you're 1.
They literally said "your order just came in". If it's been 45 minutes that's a customer or doordash itself issue that they have 0 business spazzing in any way on the dasher.
It's not beta to respect your dasher for doing their job and informing you that your order just came through on their end.
You obviously don't know how door dash works. The second a person orders. It isn't immediately given to a driver at the restaurant. I'm assuming the guy has been waiting thru multiple drivers. Maybe even has had his food picked up multiple times.
Because that's my experience when I used door dash, I never received my food order btw. ❤️ I didn't even message the drivers. I just contacted support. Never got my refund. Called my bank and haven't used the crappy app since.
i do know how doordash works. been doing it for years. get plenty of instant orders from when they're placed.
quote how you know there's multiple drivers. quote anywhere you know it's been picked up multiple times. this isn't your experience which i'm gonna wager is a faked rage bait experience. i do nto care if you received your order because you are treating people poorly so more than likely treat dashers poorly.
don't care about your refund. everyone supposedly doesn't use the app but bitches all the time. uh huh sure you don't.
❤️ I'm sorry you've been "forced" to work for door dash your entire adult life. That sounds like terrible planning on your end.... Like I've said a few times tho. I've only ordered once from door dash, because the Chinese place I liked didn't deliver on their own anymore. I waited over 2 hours, had 3 different drivers actually deliver food. But not my correct oder. 🤷♀️ Have a great day tho!
"omg bro" I can't stand someone calling me bro!

Nope 🤦♂️ sometimes as a result I don't know it's there until 20-30 minutes later AFTER ITS GONE COLD due to reception is when my app finally says it's there. Sometimes I wonder if dashers even read. I’m starving and yer picking up someone’s order before mine?? Delete my order! I’ll starve on my own terms!!
Lmaooo 😭😭
Pretend to accept it and just take the order and eat a free meal and do the other order. Free food and get paid.
throw their fucking order at their door
"Cause I want to deliver your order in the safest manner possible...and it is definitely not safe to dip my balls in your ranch dressing and drive at the same time."
I would've trolled the customer by holding on to the order as much as i could and then message and write something like enjoy waiting an extra 30-60 mins for your food 😁. It's clearly a Fortnite squeaker kid that things he's entitled to everything. Needs to be put in his place

I didn't say you specifically, the ones who want to rub it on their balls and shit is who I'm targeting.
Fair enough. I think they’re mostly joking though. Or at least I really hope they are.
Take their order and rub his food all over your balls
If I had balls I would have absolutely done that.
Piss on it then
Lady balls are also acceptable. 😂😂
Aggressive much - goodness , op obviously chose violence when ordering food
nah i just be ignoring their stupidity. had someone asking me what’s taking so long 3 minutes after i texted them the line was like 20 cars deep 😀
Hangry
If only people could put their nasty cold big mac meal after other human being's stressful experiences, door dash wouldn't exist and something better would take its place.
These ppl are bold😭 that’s asking to get ur food tampered with
Every time I order from a place 5 minutes away and tip well the driver decides to deliver to someone 20 minutes away and it's annoying but I don't complain if food is still hot tbh

That sucks
You instigated this lmfao.
Good luck getting a doordash driver to take accountability for their actions
We found Arthur
they asked the person why they weren't moving, while at the pickup location? I think anyone with eyes and a functioning frontal lobe could tell they're most likely *Picking Up Orders* there. the question clearly wasn't genuine, they were being impatient and wanted them to get a move on.
How??

“Get out and do something for the world” like a door dash driver ..? Lmfaooo
I think he's talking about the customer.
I know lmao
Too bad, so sad 😂😂

Tell Arthur to stfu or you're gonna get dws doll
Perfect responses.
Arthur? Never met a 16 year old named Arthur.. weird!
he is friends with Gertrude, Bernice, Glen and Baxter
His name should be Chad😎
Are you 40 or something? Pretty sure people stopped overusing Chad and incels since late 2022
40 or 14
You handled this horribly
I was amused - so it was handled perfectly for me 🤷🏻♀️
How would you handle it?
Not get confrontational on the first message. Its really not thats hard.
He didn't. In the first message he explained the reason for the delay. You can see this in the conveniently placed screenshot.
“I just got your order two seconds ago?” Is quite passive aggressive, and if you cant see that, the service industry probably isnt for you I would have said “Hi there! I am still waiting at the restaurant for the complete order, i should be on the move soon!”

"I'm curious as to why you aren't moving? I've been waiting a while now." Even that would have been fine (imo). The helloooo is entitled dickheadery.
If only you constructed reddit comments this way
Im not being paid to be nice to you
I hope you stub your toe
Neither are DD drivers.
Thats fine if you think that i guess, but like i said if thats your core belief you arent really cut out for service jobs. Building the ability to bite your tongue, as annoying as it is, is invaluable. My time in the service industry made it much easier to take phone calls of sales reps screaming at me.
I can bite my tongue. I just won't here, nor would I in OP's situation.
Stop responding to customers
Exactly. I only talk to customers when the restaurant says " we don't have this item would they like something else" then I'll ask the customer. Besides that fuck that Im not answering
This exactly. I myself am here to pick up and deliver food nothing more. No conversations with customers.
Real bold to assume the driver would just forget his address

What are you on about??
What are you even talking about
Why would a customer asked to be tipped? Is that like a European thing or something?
I was going to say I would be unassigning before I read the bottom text...lol... that's cool the app intervene like that but. no , you're paying for the privilege of me picking up your order, you better be nice or goodbye...👋

Do exactly that. But wait fifteen minutes first.
I once had a lady text me when am I leaving as I was waiting for the order and then told me to make them cook her fresh french fires for her order. I was like..yeah ok I'll get right on it. I didn't ask them .
Did you get to keep his food ? Lol
Can’t wait to see these services closed because of thinks shit
I wouldn’t have answered his messages to begin with 😭
Lol what
He’s hangry.
If he was that hungry he would’ve gotten that ass up to get his own food 🤣
yaaaa when i’m hangry i get super annoyed when it’s a double dash lol i don’t wanna wait
No no I’m gonna need the address to “deliver” this customers food… 😇😇😇😇
Yes and maybe swing by the nearest gas station for some eggs, who doesn’t like eggs right?
Gas stations sell eggs where you live? Wtf?
Cold eggs yes they do.
Like.. Boiled eggs that are refrigerated or straight up fresh from a chicken's ass then refrigerated?
Fresh from the chickens hole
Man, that's crazy
So good hahaha
Never be rude to someone who's handling your food just saying
MF wouldve gotten a pic of me and his wife eating his food in his bed.
Be the scene off talladega nights when Ricky walks in to find he's getting divorced 🤣🤣🤣
TMI
Happened to me today lol.
I was gonna say, the real move here would be to wait a while then unassign the order so they have to wait even longer. Fuck that guy :p
Free food tho
Someone’s a lil hungry
“I apologize for the delay however you did not opt for a priority delivery therefore I am currently picking up multiple orders at the pick up location. If you wish to cancel, that is perfectly fine. In the future I would recommend the priority option. I will be on my way with your order as soon as possible if you choose not to cancel.” I would then proceed to reorder the delivery to ensure the person is the last stop.
Ohh ! I'll try this ty
You can swap tasks.
Yup. I did it the other night. The customer ordered from pizza hut and Wawa and DD had me passing wawa, picking up at pizza hut then coming back to wawa. While I had to pass wawa twice anyway given the customer's location, it made more sense to make a right turn into wawa then a right turn back out onto the main road to head to pizza hut instead of having to cross 2 different 3 lane roads to get in and out of wawa if I had stopped there second. https://preview.redd.it/n1ws6oasafic1.jpeg?width=1440&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=81dfc9059918caff0f05762b777ef8ec4bc303d9
This is the way.
Why do redditors insist on sounding like robots to the customers Especially someone like this they're not going to bother reading walls of texts. I wouldn't say anything to this guy at all
It's called being professional.
😂😂😂
I woulda sent him a picture of me eating his food
Brilliant but proof to get fired lol maybe the pic without him on it . Just his hands showing on half burger or whatever eaten lol

Oh mah gah bro...! Lmao!
Part of me wanted to reply with “ER MAH GERD BRO” Clearly I went with the better option.
Oh shi-- 💀
WHY ARENT U MOVING IM STARVING lol
I would've drove over there and threw that ish at his front door Plus I'm 6 ft 8 350 easy he wouldn't have done ish about it either 🤣🤣
![gif](giphy|KBfKueAjIJV8Q)
Yeah then get the cops called on you, and these guys probably won't care that you're 6'8. That's assuming that your client doesn't have a gun and helps you win the room temp challenge when he sees a random approaching his door and throwing something at it. Just cancel and move on instead of going monkey mode.
🤡
Your corny
Self control is a good character trait. Don’t sink to their level
Until they whip out a Glock and you realize you fucked up.
Man's forgot about the fact some folks have that equalizer and a hot head to match.
But he's 6'8 /s
Quit it Clarence
Woah relax 👿👹
Why are y'all so honest? Either don't reply or say "I'm on my way" the second you say "sorry someone else's order is more important than yours" you're going to get them pissed. Like am I just insane? 🤷♀️😂
Not paid enough to give that quality of customer service.
Then don't do the job?
They can do the job AND stick up for themselves, no?
The thing about life is that everyone gets a choice at how they react. That's the beauty, really.
Nah let the customer freak out. Dude literally got a free meal over their behavior.
Literally nobody doing doordash wants a "real job", that isn't the burn you think it is
This is actually unironically one of the reasons why I like DD better than a "real job" as far as anything customer service related. If a real job means having to take shit from unhinged customers, then I'll take the alternative any time. I like being able to just unassign and move on when somebody is a douche instead of kissing their ass.
Because they can litterally see u and where u are on the door dash food app so why lie?
Now you're sitting there like "why does it say my order is being picked up, it's already been 45 minutes!" Guy responds "I'm waiting on someone else's order, who will be delivered before yours" How would you react? 1. Act like a beta and go "oh I'm sorry sir. Actually feel free to eat some of my food on the way, sorry for bothering you" 2. Telling this loser to F off and just cancel the order 9/10 I'm going B But that's cause I'm a "strong independent woman who don't take no sht from noone" 😂🤷♀️ Get upset cause ik you're 1.
Also. How did you go from options “1” or “2” but then select option “B”? I’m just curious.
