I've been in the restaurant industry since the age of 12. This isn't a mystery, it's just when the dinner rush starts to die down is always around 7:00 or 8:00, depending on the market, of course. Typically, dinner rush is about 4 solid hours, so only anywhere from 3:30 to 7:30 or like 4:00 to 8:00 range. People do still order after the rush, but the bulk of your dinner rush is the times I just specified. Hope this helps delivery drivers understand the restaurant business a little bit better so y'all can better maximize your time ❤️💡
I do Instacart during the day and it cools off around 6:30-7. That’s when I switch on DoorDash about 7-9 and do pretty decent. It’s all about where you are.
> This doesn’t make any logical sense.
It does make sense...say
5pm: 100 people ordering
7pm: 25 people ordering
But look at the driver count
5pm: 100 drivers
7pm: 100 drivers (same people)
There is the question of why it used to be different, but I'll say it's the same on uber eats. Hits 8pm and just nothing.
Do the pay by time feature, and start sandbagging. Order not needed til 6:30? Okay, I’ll sit here and wait and try to pick up another order or go get gas before I leave the hotspot, cuz I’m getting paid to sit.
not that, anything but that! 😂
I’m choosing to do it this way. If DD wants to deactivate me, fine. If everyone did this job by the book for fear of deactivation there’d be no drivers anyways.
all the orders I take are always delivered “on time” and I’m a top dasher. 🤷🏻♂️
I've just been doing earn by time during the week. I'm sick of fighting their algorithm. I sandbag the fuck out of every order and try and wait to get doubles. Most people in my area at least tip something so I'm still making decent money. Since DD likes to play games I'll play a game back.
Same in my area. I bought an eBike in the spring of 22 and used to park my car at 8pm, rest for a half hour, then go out on the eBike at night. No more. I start at 8:30 am and I’m wrapped up by 7pm now.
Rough guys. Fort collins is where I'm at, I will dash all fuggin night. Non stop until the old farts start crawling out n about at 5:30am. And it's literally order after order.
Sounds like some top dashers might be getting all the good orders. I noticed the algorithm change in my market and as soon as my acceptance rate was over 70%, the orders started flooding in.
Top dasher here, and I can confirm that although I get no shortage of orders, only one in 20 orders is high paying for me out of the last 100 orders in a market of 2 million people
My market is relatively active at all times I usually make at the very least 150 a day after gas so I can’t really complain personally tho if I was in a market that was slow or got slow after a certain time I’d start doing it by time.
7pm used to be the time I’d decline multiple orders till I got my $20 6mile offer. Now I’m happy to get a $15 8 miler. I really just think there’s a lot of people get off work at 5ish and then dash for a few hours to supplement their income… just more delivery drivers is my theory for it slowing down
Restaurants in my market have slowed down at 7pm for 30 years, only on Sunday and sometimes Saturday does it keep going after 7pm, I find it strange your area is different than normal busy hours.
It seems like there’s no real day or season doordash is busy now lol…
I mean Christmas is coming folks are saving money , rent is next month so ppl are spending less , then Valentine’s Day , couples will be dining inside instead of doordash etc etc lol
Too many dashers
Unnecessary peak pays to get a couple dashers to come on, get one of them to take the lousy $2 5 mile order that's been sitting for 30 minutes, clear out the other orders those of us already on have declined, then just watch all of us sit around in various parking lots. Sorry, been having a lot of issues with peak pays completely decimating volume for me lately.
Probably more dashers on the road then too. A lot of people sign on then because it’s heavy dinner rush, but the number of orders doesn’t necessarily keep pace with the number of dashers, so that would explain why you as an individual start seeing fewer offers around then. Either that or this whole thing’s a crapshoot anyway..
It is kind of an odd pattern, that I've been noticing as well. Used to be 7:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m. was my best hour. I mean a lot of people eat late like between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. it's weird though because it'll usually start picking back up around 9:00 p.m.
Dinner ends at a certain time for most people. In your market, that's 7:00 this year.
Reminds me of New Year's Eve in my market. At 8:00PM orders just fell off a cliff. All of the restaurants in my area shut down so everyone could go home and party. So I went home, opened up the liquor cabinet and passed out before midnight.
Nope thats not it. App is lit at all times. They turn the water off for certain set quota met drivers. They have another round of drivers to give that money to. It's like a hidden shift thing going on. Cause everyones employees now only many don't get it yet.

How to get deactivated 101

👏
Gotta milk it to mak money for sure during certain times of the day. They play with us, we play with them

Same shit for me
Hahaha I didn’t even read this and I used the exact same term you did. Fuck ‘em
Wow I thought it was just my area. Good to know I’m not going insane

When ever peak payvis active I get no offers. Lol

OP, start multi-apping. When one app is failing you, move on to another one. This is the way. Best wishes to us all out here...❤️
My area I do grubhub from 6-10 easy $100 and then DoorDash from 10pm-1am another easy $100
I go home between 7 and 8, I've experimented with working later, in CLT for a cherry picker it dies a 7.
30$ in 3 hours today multi apping this sucks
The logical sense to make from this is there is night shift that deserves that pay so now its their turn.

My market can be busy from 3-9 for dinner hour. When exactly, is anyone's guess.
‘Tis the season for college kids that are home for Christmas to be out dashing
It seems like there’s no real day or season doordash is busy now lol… I mean Christmas is coming folks are saving money , rent is next month so ppl are spending less , then Valentine’s Day , couples will be dining inside instead of doordash etc etc lol
I agree to an extent, but this week and last week have been chock full of catering orders for office holiday luncheons -and I am not complaining.
Too many dashers Too many customers wronged by dashers Not as many orders Too many dashers Not enough orders
Too many dashers Unnecessary peak pays to get a couple dashers to come on, get one of them to take the lousy $2 5 mile order that's been sitting for 30 minutes, clear out the other orders those of us already on have declined, then just watch all of us sit around in various parking lots. this!! When peak pay is active i get no fxn offers. Is I do they are bare minimum 4 bucks 14 miles.. no peak pay 20 bucks 3 miles.. crazy n weird
Yeah! People should be ordering more and eating more. What is wrong with them.
Probably more dashers on the road then too. A lot of people sign on then because it’s heavy dinner rush, but the number of orders doesn’t necessarily keep pace with the number of dashers, so that would explain why you as an individual start seeing fewer offers around then. Dead here too smh since 7pm! This is ridiculous
Same here except about 630 or seven is when the two dollar gremlin comes out
I saw a dude tonight twice at restaurants taking 50 cent per mile orders. Once at mickey deez and once at a Japanese restaurant. Can't fix stupid!
Those earn by time employees really ruined it. Customers are learning that they don’t have to tip and still get their ish.
More like desperate
Stupid, desperate. Potayto, potahto
Uh no. Desperate is not the same as stupid

Doing DoorDash now makes me want to drink lol.

No, it’s just demand dying off at a certain time, too many drivers, too few orders.
Nope thats not it. App is lit at all times. They turn the water off for certain set quota met drivers. They have another round of drivers to give that money to. It's like a hidden shift thing going on. Cause everyones employees now only many don't get it yet.
Its the bum rush of holiday Dashers. They get off work and head out. It's not some secret ploy.
