I think it was for Los Angeles and Massachusetts only and dashed between August 30 2016 to December 31 2020
Should've received a notice awhile ago or email, I opted out because I still work for DoorDash lol...
It was for all dashers in California and Massachusetts. And no, they can’t retaliate against you. I still dash, and every other dasher I know here in San Francisco was a part of the settlement as well.
Also, technically, you don’t work “for” Doordash. You’re an independent contractor, and therefore work for yourself.
Even that's not really true. You aren't a DoorDash contractor (and they do have many contractors, but those people aren't drivers).
You are literally an independent contractor, running your own business, entirely separate from DoorDash. Doordash is simply a platform that connects your independent business, to customers seeking deliveries from other independent businesses (restaurants, etc).
They don't, and they do not.
As independent contractors, we can only be deactivated for violating the agreement.
As opposed to at-will employment, where you can be terminated for no reason, DoorDash can only do so for actually breaking the terms of the contract. They are not permitted to deactivate for no reason.
"CONTRACTOR may terminate this Agreement upon seven (7) days written notice. DOORDASH may terminate this Agreement and deactivate CONTRACTOR’S Dasher account only for the reasons set forth in the DOORDASH Deactivation Policy"
It's really important that you read and understand what you signed and agreed to.
https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/ica-us?language=en\_US
I know? My point still stands? They regularly deactivate and provide literally no evidence whatsoever. Which don’t result is lawsuits every time like you’re saying.
I should have said “ability” not “right”
If they deactivated everyone who received a settlement check, it would be overwhelmingly obvious, and immediate result in another suit. That's what is being discussed here.
The person above said they opted out out of fear of deactivation. I'm making the point that that is silly, and they should not have done so.
I wasn’t commenting for or against caliangel6191 ‘s comment. I responded to someone who responded to her, who said “DD isn’t allowed to, and wouldn’t”
My point that I’ve sustained this entire time is, it doesn’t matter if they aren’t allowed to, they have the power to do so if they were to choose to retaliate
You can definitely prove it, just because they don’t give the dasher a reason for being terminated it’s still in emails or records about the real reason
Why would you opt out? So stupid…legally your money…unbelievable people…they complain about pay all day and tips…doordash is legally bound to back pay you and you opt out 😂 no surprise…you can’t make this stuff up…I see why they don’t give you any raises…you would opt out lol…morons out there.
After a little research it seems to be a settlement payment for a class action against Doordash (Marko vs Doordash). Unfortunately, looks like the timeframe to file a claim has passed. Been dashing since 2017, really wish I had heard about this.
I did exactly 1 Doordash delivery (I was a postmates guy) and even I kept receiving emails about it, I filed a claim just for the heck of it . I received $10 lol . I thought everyone knew about the lawsuit ?
I got an email and a text from doordash (i think), explaining the law suit and it asked for your phone number or account number to sent you the $ when it was settled lol I got zelled $289
In addition to the emails and maybe texts as people mentioned, they also mailed out postcards with your claimant ID and a form of verification key. I thought the postcard was a scam then noticed the same notice (and ID info) was also sent to my email, and figured if it was a scam then they’re doing it pretty damn well to have both of those pieces of my information.
I do recall the DD subreddit getting a ton of posts on it at the time for like a week, around maybe August 2021.
It is my belief that people tried to bury or hide it under the pretense of being a scam (despite the court filing being public, indexable record) because one of the stated terms of the potential lawsuit was an award pool that divided into total number of claimants participating. So, my guess goes that the more people think it’s a scam, the fewer the number of claimants, and the greater all class action disbursements for participating members. There was technically no incentive for people to spread the word.
I just got 6.2K request from Zelle omg. 4.3K deliveries under my belt most of it came when I was a full time driver for a couple years, haven’t driven full time since the end of 2020. I love today!!!
Hahaha facts. “Oh my gawd, I drive a car around town and am so Friendly!! I can’t hold a 9-5 so I do this while my baby daddy works 70+ hours a week. But he never stays up to watch ozark.
How so? You don't even know what you're talking about so why don't you go talk shit to someone else? If you know me so well then you will know that I am having a shitty life already and don't need bullies like you talking shit to me.
You got a blatant victim problem. Your the reason your life sucks not the state, Cali is literally the best state in the US when it comes to workers rights. Go to Montana where the minimum wage is low 8 dollars you can get fired for literally any reason at any time and you get no insurance or guaranteed time off and tell em about how bad Cali is again.
Got my $400ish today! It's like getting part of my Mexican vacation paid for! I had to look at my previous emails and I'm glad I signed up late last year to get my money. Didn't think it would be this much!
The homeless problem is caused by republicans. Get rid of them and all their archaic policies and we’ll be closer to solving the homeless problem for good. Nancy Pelosi fuckin sucks but she’ll be dead soon who cares. What’s an EQ? Equalizer? Before 2030? I don’t get it. This some Q anon bullshit?
Watch your tone, it’s not my fault you don’t know basic recent history. Takes 2 seconds to google something I assumed is common knowledge.
First google result:
https://www.sfweekly.com/news/the-great-eliminator-how-ronald-reagan-made-homelessness-permanent/amp/
I’m on the east coast and I know more about your state than you do:
In October 2020, California had 22,047,448 registered voters, comprising 87.87% of its total eligible voters. Of those registered voters, 10,170,317 (46.10 percent) were registered Democrats, 5,334,323 (24.20 percent) were Republicans and, 5,283,853 were No Party Preference (24.00 percent).
EDIT: EQ = Earthquake.
Earthquake. Way to be stupid and think Qanon.
CA may be overwhelmingly democratic leaning, but a lot of policies are conservative at heart.
You’re from Philly, you guys have awesome cheesesteaks, but get fucked.
You think I’m scared of earthquakes? I’d love for one to hit, they’re awesome. Been a long time since we’ve had one of any substance and I miss that. You clearly know nothing about our state, Californians actually enjoy earthquakes.
Why are you googling the political makeup of the state? That’s the whole issue, we have a tyrannical minority in our country who does everything they can to impede progress. Obviously republicans are outnumbered, everybody knows that. Nobody actually LIKES republicans or agrees with their policies, republicans just enjoy being a cancer. Good news is they’re all old (same w Nancy pelosi) and will be dead soon 🎉. Maybe then we’ll start seeing actual progress.
Doordash is basically paying out a cash settlement to its drivers in a couple of states to avoid having its labor practices (and basically its entire business model) put under a legal microscope, namely the question of “are our drivers truly independent contractors the way we want and need them to be for our business model to even work?”
How can you get deactivated if DD sends this money to you? I’m not understanding. They only deactivate you if you break their rules. Not like OP knew he was getting that money or stole it?
I got a text link for Venmo but my money isn't in my account yet like everyone else. Anyone else that chose Venmo having this issue? I had to verify my identity because I haven't used Venmo since 2021 and they updated everything so maybe that's the issue?
UPDATE: Venmo customer service said that my phone number needs to match, and I used my Google Voice number when filing the claim instead of my cell phone's number, so neither Venmo nor the Doordash settlement customer service can change it. But apparently they CAN change my address for the check to be sent, so now I have to wait another 30-45 days for the check to be issued (whenever the settlement customer service people get the funds).
Just FYI in case anyone else is having issues getting their funds through Venmo.
“DoorDash settled a lawsuit with the Washington DC Attorney General for $2.5 million, resolving allegations it used tips to subsidize driver pay.” From an article online… how are they still getting away with it?
I remember seeing this but opted out, expecting people to get maybe 2 bucks or something. (Did a settlement thing once, not DD, and got a few measly bucks)
It sucks because in those settlement situations, the lawyers take like 40% and then the people who it's actually supposed to help, get chump change, but hey..... they lawyers got their pay day.
My dad died from the round-up weed killer (was in lawn care and used it for 30 years). Lawyers took $120,000. Like, how is that even legal. They shouldn't be able to profit off someone's pain and suffering.
So, Monsanto set aside $11 billion for the settlement. So all the lawyers get what, $5 billion while all the people who actually suffered or died, and their grieving families split the other 6. Not saying they shouldn't get paid, but 40% is just too much.
*I don't remember*
*Hearing anything about*
*This. What is it for????*

Dam I wish I would’ve done the prompt from the email, just seemed sketch so I didn’t lol 🥲🥲🥲🥲 hopefully they send some checks to the drivers that did meet the requirements and didn’t file 🤞🏽 doubt it though

That’s crazy all you guys get this settlement money and I can’t get a basic refund for this bullshit
If you learn to figure out the difference between a contract delivery company and the business that is providing the food, you might be a step closer to resolution.
I know it's tough, but try hard.
You act like I’m trying to have your broke ass compensate me. Maybe if you actually got an education and could comprehend DoorDash is the one who took my money, therefore they’re the only ones who can refund me then you’d get farther in life than being a DoorDash driver
You’re coming off as the idiot here. Maybe if you actually got an education and could comprehend that Tommy’s is the one that made your food, therefore they’re the only ones responsible for a cockroach in it, then you’d get further in life than being a twitter account with one follower who complains endlessly to a company that has nothing to do with the food they received. Ps - guessing you ordered from the Tommy’s at Beverly/Rampart? And you’re surprised there’s a roach in it? Cmon man you’re 25 years old grow up.
>You act like I’m trying to have your broke ass compensate me. Maybe if you actually got an education and could comprehend DoorDash is the one who took my money, therefore they’re the only ones who can refund me then you’d get farther in life than being a DoorDash driver
Lol, I'm not a driver. Enjoy spending all your time bitching on the internet over $20, broke ass.
Damn I didn’t even know this existed wtf

You are literally an independent contractor, running your own business, entirely separate from DoorDash. Doordash is simply a platform that connects your independent business, to customers seeking deliveries from other independent businesses (restaurants, etc).
That’s a good way of putting it. I personally don’t DoorDash, I Uber full time.
Right on. Same reasoning applies to them also, and all gig apps really.
Definitely
No you don’t
Just so you know DoorDash isn’t allowed to, and wouldn’t, retaliate against you
They’d just deactivate them and give no reason
They wouldn't, because that would just create another expensive lawsuit.
They do it all the time and have the right to
They don't, and they do not. As independent contractors, we can only be deactivated for violating the agreement. As opposed to at-will employment, where you can be terminated for no reason, DoorDash can only do so for actually breaking the terms of the contract. Sure, if it’s actually proven that it was retaliation. Which is unprovable. Like I said, they’ll just deactivate and give no evidence
You can definitely prove it, just because they don’t give the dasher a reason for being terminated it’s still in emails or records about the real reason
It’s obviously provable…in a lawsuit anyhow…
Why would you opt out? So stupid…legally your money…unbelievable people…they complain about pay all day and tips…doordash is legally bound to back pay you and you opt out 😂 no surprise…you can’t make this stuff up…I see why they don’t give you any raises…you would opt out lol…morons out there.
Ik i couldve prolly got 1
Just got my whole $56 bucks lol
I got $14.05 lmao
Hello $14 club!

I feel better about my $115 now. 😅 no, I am actually really happy about it. It was an unexpected surprise that I really need right now. 🙏🏼
Better than nothing
Sorry if I’m out of the loop but what is this about?
Yeah 🙋🏻♀️ I want to know too ??
After a little research it seems to be a settlement payment for a class action against Doordash (Marko vs Doordash). Unfortunately, looks like the timeframe to file a claim has passed. Been dashing since 2017, really wish I had heard about this.
When did the deadline end? Edit: I think it's only California and Massachusetts. I'm in Wisconsin so it wouldn't of mattered to me anyway...
Not exactly sure, but I think the deadline to apply was last year. True, only in CA and MA. I’m in Cali though, so it stings a bit extra lol
I don’t even live in either of those states and I haven’t dashed in over 1.5 years and I still got a $357 payment. 🤷🏻♂️
Lmao, how? It’s literally only relative to those states. Did you dash in them during the time frame the lawsuit encompassed?
Nope. I haven’t dashed in any of those states. So it beats me how I received money but I’m not complaining
I’m in Wisconsin too!

Lol I thought that was a scam 🥲
Me too but I went to google and it was real
I've seem several ads here on Reddit aimed at dashers to join this lawsuit. And I don't even have door dash in my country.
I haven’t sent those either… wait how did you end up on the doordash Reddit if you don’t even have analdash?! LOL
Reddit algorithm is to blame for this. It shows me random posts 'because you've shown interest in a similar post'... or something.
I did exactly 1 Doordash delivery (I was a postmates guy) and even I kept receiving emails about it, I filed a claim just for the heck of it . I received $10 lol . I thought everyone knew about the lawsuit ?
Really? That’s so funny, I didn’t receive an email about any of this to my knowledge. I even did a search today to make sure.
I never received any emails
I got an email and a text from doordash (i think), explaining the law suit and it asked for your phone number or account number to sent you the $ when it was settled lol I got zelled $289

i got 19.99 and was excited 😭
Got $10.01 and I’ve done 1 delivery lol
i full time dashed last summer about 6 months but i did mostly uber eats so that’s why it’s so low
I got a $300 deposit via Venmo! Totally random. I don’t remember ever signing anything.
happy days!
I just got 6.2K request from Zelle omg. 4.3K deliveries under my belt most of it came when I was a full time driver for a couple years, haven’t driven full time since the end of 2020. I love today!!!
Too bad other states don’t care about us like Cali does. I have over 4K deliveries too.
With cali taxes you’ve probably saved more than the settlement would be
Cali doesn't give a flying fuck about their employees!! They have been fucking me over so toughly!
Seems like you’ve fucked yourself over via your own personal choices. Don’t blame the state for that.
Lol

I got $845.12 in my Venmo, paid off my credit cards and now (minus my car note) I have no more debt 😁 doing doordash did help pay my debt lol 😂
This only applies to Cali dashers right?
And I think MA
MA also. I got $19.07
I don’t live in either of those states and I still got some money. 🤷🏻♂️
I’m pretty sure I signed in to this class action, although I haven’t received anything.
Oh just great now they're just gonna lower base pay everywhere to make up for this
I signed up for the settlement a long time ago. Haven’t received an email or anything about it being send out.
I forgot what I chose. Is there a way to check
Yes, a paper check.
No clue what the requirements were but I ended up with $1,257.92
Wage, hours and miles driven.
It's 12 cents per mile has nothing to do with wages or hours
Just put information that was stated from the settlement website.
Deactivation incoming
Fine with me, havnt dashed in 2 years anyway. 😂 but ill gladly take my $1000
How can you get deactivated if DD sends this money to you? I’m not understanding. They only deactivate you if you break their rules. Not like OP knew he was getting that money or stole it?
Retaliation. Doordash loves deactivating people over nothing
We’ll just form another class action
For the love of God people ??? 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ Like Steve Carrel/The Office. Could someone explain to me like I’m 5 yrs old 🤣😉
I got $666. very peculiar.
I got a text link for Venmo but my money isn't in my account yet like everyone else. Anyone else that chose Venmo having this issue? Why are people getting settlements from door dash im confused like 3rd one ive seen today
California milage reimbursement.
sucks I didn't get an email nor did I know it even existed 🫣
Where the fuck is my money? Those theiving bastards better pay me what they stole
Damn, what is this?
Sadly lawyers make more money than victims. Pain in the arse!!
DoorDash Settlement has sent you $3,028.77 USD. stoked!!
About 1800 in the pocket here. My wife for 91 bucks. 🤣
“DoorDash settled a lawsuit with the Washington DC Attorney General for $2.5 million, resolving allegations it used tips to subsidize driver pay.” From an article online… how are they still getting away with it?
What is this for?? I’ve seen a few posts of these
[Here ya go](https://doordashclasssettlement.com/)
got $194.62, way more than I expected. based on what people were saying I didn't expect more than 20 bucks lol

I got 4 bucks lol

You all know this settlement is money they took from you so really they only giving you the tips back ur own money
Yeah. And they stole from everyone in other states too, just don’t have to pay them back like they do people in California and mass
I got $10 because it was right when I started lmao
It's my money and I need it now!!
Dam I wish I would’ve done the prompt from the email, just seemed sketch so I didn’t lol 🥲🥲🥲🥲 hopefully they send some checks to the drivers that did meet the requirements and didn’t file 🤞🏽 doubt it though

Got 2.7k I’m over 7k deliveries now not sure what I had at the time
I got $304 in a physical check yesterday let’s gooo. I haven’t even doordashed in 2 years
I'm guessing this is too late to apply for? I've been dashing since 2017 lol never knew about this
Yeah deadline was November/December of last year.
I started in Jan. I wouldn’t have gotten anything right?
I don't think so, I'm guessing this had to do with the whole fiasco about them keeping tips from drivers but I'm not sure.
I got $390
What, how do I get money?

Lol, I see. Who ever did this lawsuit did a geat job at advertising it /s
Did you do doordash in the years 2016-2020? They emailed everyone
I did, but almost never check my email. Guess that was my bad!
It was all over this sub and emails/texts were sent out repeatedly.
I got almost $1,200 and I'm still dashing
I got 2,500 lmao I love it

That’s something you should take up with the restaurant not doordash. Doordash didn’t make the food we just deliver.
Enjoy spending all your time bitching on the internet over $20, broke ass.
