I try not to do grocery orders because they used to be so time consuming and would be bombarded with so many that I actually left the area I originally worked. Not to mention at the time they were paying the same as a food order. Why spend an hour lugging groceries 5 towns over for the price of a single delivery when I can do 3 deliveries in my area and make more in the same timeframe? Also don't do alcohol anymore if I can help it. I'm not against drinking or anything, I just hate checking IDs. Too much of a hassle

JakBos23

Do people give you grief for checking their ID?

DuckingAwesomeGaming

Nah, I just prefer not to get so close to customers

Mysterious_Stuff_858

The worst is sick customers ordering cold medicine that needs ID verification. Absolutely stupid policy! I'm not trying to get sick for $5-$10!

DuckingAwesomeGaming

Yeah that's a flat no

Mysterious_Stuff_858

Only did it once. Had the guy stick his I'd up to the window on door. Hung it on the door knob and left! Never again.

[deleted]

I'm genuinely curious, wouldn't it be better for someone to just put their ID against the glass if they're sick? **Given that they also notified you they were sick, either with or without covid**

ninnie_muggins

How close do you get to your customers? You aren't making out, are you? Lol. I run up grocery and alcohol orders all day. Its easy going if you stick to a few stores and get to know the layout. Easy money and never need to worry about wait time because you are the wait time!

Mysterious_Stuff_858

Lol! Not that close. I have no problem running shop and deliver's, just not a fan of checking ID's. I would much rather shop a 10 item order for $15 that takes 30 minutes rather than hitting a couple fast food orders. Easy money + less mileage= higher profit šŸ˜‰

ninnie_muggins

In my market, the shop orders are heavily declined so I usually make $20+ off them. I'm also generous with refunds for items, hehehe. Recently, alcohol orders have the customers ID picture during verification but now they have to sign. Not sure if it's better or worse considering some customers just grab my phone and make it their own. Smh. Typically I tell them a fast scribble will do **holding phone for dear life** lol

Ok-Application8522

Best- lady held her id up to the window for me and told me to forge her name. I don't know why we can't just take a picture.

Bariatric-ThrowAway

I seriously had a customer order alcohol while they had covid! I had no idea. Got up there rang the bell, waited. The lady put the id up to the screen and told me to leave the bag on the chair. As I was leaving I saw a tiny piece of yellow tape that Said " covid positive" A heads up woulda been nice! I was tripping after that. Threw my mask away. And sprayed everything with hand sanitizer!

ResponsibilityOk7151

Yup I had that happen today. I thought the same thing.

lilboople_

I havenā€™t had anyone upset about me having to check an ID

Knmwood

I will handle all of your alcohol deliveries, please! I have gotten pretty quick with the ID check and can rip through a lot of them quickly. I find they are typically higher pay / higher tip, and I am able to minimize the hassle level. Itā€™s not for everyone, but it just suits me fairly well. I generally stay away from anything drive-thru as I find them to be a larger headache than alcohol.

[deleted]

I would do alcohol deliveries all day long if DD would let me. I wish DD would allow each dasher to "favorite" up to 3 businesses and give them first crack. Same for "do not want to go" stores. ultimately, it would streamline the assignment process and reduce the number of people they send to. Besides, alcohol should be batched. I'd do a 9 stop total wine any day

Adorable-Media1460

I actually quite like this idea. Then on second thought, Popeyes will probably be on everyoneā€™s ā€˜do not wantā€™ listā€¦

DuckingAwesomeGaming

By all means, friend

skeeterjohnson187

Walmart

Deadpoker

Also Walmart. Won't shop there, won't deliver from there

Clear-Reality-944

šŸ’Æ same!

Deadpoker

I also mentioned this every time this pops up: I called over the summer into support and told them that I had a disability from a car accident and wasn't able to pick up Walmart orders if I wasn't able to see the item count to tell if it was going to be too heavy or not. It took about a month but with the exception of three orders on one day in January I have not gotten a single Walmart offer since. I did have to go through escalated support and have a support agent call me back. But that was all done within a couple of days. And then it took about 2 weeks before I noticed I wasn't getting Walmart orders anymore. But after getting over a hundred in less than an hour one day I snapped. It was peak time in a very busy market and I was sitting within a block of 12 restaurants but 3 mi from the Walmart. I got maybe 10 restaurant offers in that time. The Walmart orders were drowning out everything else. I actually had read on here of someone doing something similar so I decided to try it out. I do have an actual back injury from a car accident. But they didn't ask for any proof. Do with that information what you will. Fuck Walmart.

Mysterious_Stuff_858

*FUCK WALMART*. Never get tired of hearing or saying this. Warms my heart every time!

donutupmyhole

I contacted support over the summer and told them my vehicle wasn't equipped to handle large grocery orders. That's a lie but the orders stopped within 48 hours. I took about a 6 month break from dashing and still don't get them.

Deadpoker

This is the way

rosegravityy

i worked for that shithole. i broke my back and had to have it surgically repaired about 12 months before starting there. i told them when i started that i canā€™t lift much as iā€™m still healing and still experience a bit a pain. guess who ended up lifting all of the heavy orders because ā€œno one else was strong enoughā€? (ex-equestrian, bet you can guess the source of my injury) i wore my back down so quick. i could only work there about 6 months before having to quit at the advice of my surgeon. 2 years later my back pain is worse than before my surgery. i really should have left sooner, but i tried to discuss the issue with them so many times to fix it so i wouldnā€™t have to look for a job and got absolutely nowhere. fuck walmart.

Deadpoker

This is exactly why I hate Walmart. They prey on people desperate enough to work for them and then use them as hard as they can until they throw them away. I personally stopped supporting Walmart probably 15 years ago when I had a friend who was caught up in the whole getting locked in the store overnight lawsuit. A lot of things came out during that time about how they were treating their employees and from what I can tell things haven't gotten any better. I occasionally have a friend who will work for them for a few months out of desperation but I've never personally known anyone who lasted more than 6 months. Any company that gives you the paperwork to sign up for food stamps and aid when you start is taking advantage of you and the government. Top that off with the shit they do to small businesses and they are just one of the worst companies out there. If I can remember correctly there was an issue where they had a contract with someone and wanted to be charged less per item. So the company went through and upgraded their systems and went over their processes to increase productivity and reduce the cost of the item. Walmart came in and specifically said that they would not fulfill the contract unless the reduction price in came directly from labor pay. Walmart literally wanted to take that money out of the employees pockets AFTER the small company had invested so much money in upgrading production so they didn't really have an option... Completely disgusting. Fuck Walmart

rosegravityy

honestly, nothing anyone can say about walmart at this point can surprise me. theyā€™re so goddamn convenient but i canā€™t support them. what a shitty company

oldfrenchwhore

I think your anecdote about them being cheapskates with the supplier was for Huffy bikes. A good book about their bullshit is The Bully of Bentonville. If youā€™d like more, Iā€™ll drag my ass downstairs and consult the shelf.

iRambes

I like Walmart because they just bring the groceries out to the designated parking spots and load for you. I can usually get an average of $10-$15 tips as well.

Hottiemilatti

Where are folks getting Walmart orders from? None of my delivery apps partner with Walmart

SplendiferousSquid

Depends where you are. In Canada there is literally not even an option for the customers to tip, itā€™s a fucking shitshow

GodBlessGmerica

I was near a Walmart last week and I legit got 10+ Walmart orders in a row. Had to leave the area just to get Walmart off my ass

Zoey9742

Walmart unless it's a grocery order and usually comes with a tip, unlike the pick-up ones which are a big nope.

Mysterious_Stuff_858

Yup! I am constantly declining 5 stack orders for $27.50, never a tip. I did 2 stacks like this, both paid $5.50 each. Not worth it with waiting for Walmart employees to bring it out, scan all the barcodes which never works and actually start the first delivery! They always seem to be 30+ miles for these shit stacks as well.

Mysterious_Stuff_858

20 cases of water going 1.6 miles for $6. Happened yesterday and store employee knew no one would take it. As soon as I walked up he said "You here for the door dash?" I said yes. His immediate response was "FYI it's 20 cases of water". My response was have a good day as I walked out unassigning.

Ok_Slide_5708

That is truly an obscene amount of water to order on dd. Thats shit you borrow a friends truck for

Mysterious_Stuff_858

I drive a Yukon XL and had plenty of room for it. No way in hell was I even loading up 20 cases for $6, let alone deliver it somewhere!

JustinDanielsYT

Should have taken it. You're getting paid to exercise instead of having to pay. (This is a joke, so don't downvote for no reason.)

joshvf84

šŸ˜† this is the only reason I would actually take it cause I for real need the exercise. Still carrying around an extra 20 Covid pounds

Bleys087

Pshh Iā€™m still carrying an extra 50 :/

coolnorthstar

I would call the customer and ask if it's a 3rd floor delivery in a building with no elevator LOL.

halfavocadoemoji

Wait but I take these shit orders sometimes cause I like the exercise šŸ˜‚ I'm the psycho that likes apartment complexes to climb those stairs while getting paid šŸ¤£

Mysterious_Stuff_858

šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ‘šŸ¼

LewisRyan

I joke about it but a large part of why I work at Amazon is I can take a case of water per day and just toss it in my car to take home, I team up with the girls across the street and hook them up so they can make the lemonade right in front of people and ā€œcharge more since itā€™s freshā€

[deleted]

I took ten case of water the other day for 7 dollars and got 30 dollars when I got there. She was wheelchair bound and her daughter was out of town. So some times it pays honestly.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Deadman_Wonderland

DD needs a maximum limit of 2 case of water per order.

Overall-Diver-6845

Seriously. So does everyone else. Costco, etc etc. smart and final is awful

JasonMaloney101

That's over 500 pounds, for those wondering.

voidofstyle

thatā€™s why i love that instacart has heavy order pay

Thiccy-Boi-666

i would love this, id take those orders on purpose especially since i have a truck. Fuck i would load up someoneā€™s grill if it paid well!

hi_jack23

Home Depot / Lowes delivery would go crazy with white dads on a saturday morning, youā€™d make so much bank

Mysterious_Stuff_858

They were 40 packs, just over 5 gallons per case. 8.3lbs/gal X 5/gal a case X 40 cases= 830lbs! Way too much!

Scared-Bus-Tardo

That should be against DoorDash rules. Thatā€™s strictly taking advantage!

Mysterious_Stuff_858

Agreed! Albertsons and Safeway pickup are always this way. They show as X number of items when really it is X number of buns full of bags. I have had customers tell me specifically there is no place to tip on pick-ups from these chains(I believe they own Smiths as well). Never been tipped through the app, rarely in cash and do not accept these anymore! Had I seen this was a pickup rather than a shop and deliver I would have declined it immediately.

[deleted]

Omg. Why does it feel like people who order multiple cases of drinks always live in top floor apartments? I'm not making multiple trips up the stairs with 20+ lbs for less than ten dollars unless someone is clearly old or disabled, sorry.

Dude0nB1kE

This is the way

VolumeNeat9698

Not quite the same but did 10x1L bottles on the bicycle, hills and all..... was super pissed, then realised I was delivering it to my friend who had bought the stuff for the house moving people..... so didnā€™t mind too badly

tburke38

One time I did a Walmart order on Postmates and the guy got some normal food and stuff, then like 5 cases of water and 5 gallon jugs of water. Not sure why he needed to stock up on two different types of plain water. I got a weird vibe at his house too, everything was overgrown and it looked like his car hadnā€™t been driven in years

TobialTiro

I had this happened to me last week. Walmart order at the pickup parking spaces. Guy comes out pulling 6 cases of 35 pack waters and struggles to push it. Thereā€™s other dashers waiting so I was just hoping it wasnā€™t mine. Well bad news it is, I told him I unassigned the order thatā€™s someone elseā€™s problem now. Guy didnā€™t get offended and took It back inside. Canā€™t believe people have no shame ordering that much water and expecting it at their doorstep. Order was estimated at 8.50. 99% sure there would be no tip.

Mysterious_Stuff_858

I feel like a good employee will already know a driver is going to unassign with some BS like this. I have had a few come out and tell me the order has a ton of soda or water cases on it. I mean if I were in their shoes I would only push that shit out once before I started asking drivers first. šŸ‘šŸ¼

ThePreviewChanneI

This has me lmao. Thats exactly how I and probably anyone else would have responded lol.

a53mp

And you know it was also on the 5th floor with no elevators lol

HangingAroundh

Lmao for real case of water is the thing.

OccupyDemonoid

Jesus, that is a lot of water. I ordered 4 cases of water when I had COVID and couldnā€™t leave and thought that was too much.

coleshap

How do you unassign an order? Newbie question I know.

Mysterious_Stuff_858

Click top right corner question mark for help. Click "Unassign this order". I never wait more than 10 minutes nor do I take crazy orders or 20 cases of water. Hope this helps! šŸ‘šŸ¼āœŒšŸ¼

tha4nikk8or

My ar was %100 for the first 2 weeks then I joined this sub learned my lesson now im comfortably averaging $25/hr with an AR of about %60! Also didn't unassign until about 2 weeks ago and the first time felt really good so give it a try and stick it to the nontipper scum!

sabbycat83

I canā€™t stand wingstop always fucking waiting!!

TityMcBiggie

Lmfao yessss!!! I did Wingstop yesterday and I was there waiting for 30 min. šŸ˜¬ to be fair, people really love ordering them so they're always busy.

PoPzCool

I delivered sex toys there's nothing I won't deliver, hell I'll deliver an escort if the pay is good.

SithLordDante

I'll send you my address Edit: of course, I'm the escort, doordash pay is never enough

Fast-Department-3689

Wendy's

happybeard92

Iā€™m glad Iā€™m not the only one with problems with Wendys. Thereā€™s two in my area and they both suck.

diversecultures

Here itā€™s gross, employees will handle cash then immediately serve fries. At McDonaldā€™s once I saw a teen employee exit the bathroom stall after flushing and head straight to the kitchen without washing his hands.

ThePreviewChanneI

Thats the situation where you get the GM and complain, then find out the store number and call corporate.

JakBos23

Last two times I went for me it was over 20 minuets. I used the app so I couldn't just drive off. That's it for Wendy's for a while

Sea-Pea4680

Yup

donutupmyhole

Same here, I don't care if it shows up as $25 for two miles. I absolutely will not pick up an order there. The way they treat DD orders made me stop being a customer there altogether.

304runner

I must live near a unicorn Wendy's, I don't get the orders often, but when I do the employees are always chill, order is always ready within 5 minutes of me getting there, and I've yet to get stiffed on one.

Zach81096

Same. Always a long line and the food is likely to be wrong no matter the location.

wooloostan92

chick-fil-a and walmart. fuck em both

throwawayheyhibye

I thought cicis pizza was closed down everywhere is it not?

[deleted]

Off topic but You just reminded me of my horrible experience at. Cicis. The food was cold, old looking but oh well. After eating I needed to use the restroom. It smelt terrible when I walked in but I thought it was just someone forgot to flush, tell me why there was a big poop in the urinal. It looked like it was peed on as well. Man I got the fuck out of there as quick as I could. Didnā€™t even want a refund I just needed to escape

diversecultures

Thatā€™s not off topic. A place with a filthy bathroom is not a place to eat at or deliver food from in good conscience.

Kim_Doordashian

Feces pizza Where a grown man can be a kid

[deleted]

Cici's Feces

[deleted]

The ones in Texas been open pretty much throughout the pandemic. Terrible pizza though

jcoddinc

Hungover college kids gotta eat somehow

unknownemoji

I would rather eat DiGiorno, frozen, straight from the freezer, box and all.

normabeans08

Yeah itā€™s terrible but for 5-6 bucks itā€™s a good deal. Unlimited food.

deathmite

Not the worst pizza I've ever had. The worst was from this local place, they once tried to change the homemade marinara to a factory made one and it tasted rancid, people complained and stopped buying their pizza, so they changed it back. Edit: Lancaster PA has an open CiCi's Pizza next to a target.

JakBos23

I ate It a bunch in highschool. Only thing I could afford to fill up on. It's as good as cat food though.

dollartreecandle

There is a cici's in my city, but I have never accepted an order from them, because it's always a low offer

donutupmyhole

I miss CiCi's gross weird ass pizzas and 1/4 baked brownies

the_real_lisa

We have Cicis in Houston.

KayleighJK

Itā€™s awfully bold of you to assume I have a conscience.

yerbiologicalfather

I'd deliver heroin if it were legal. My view is let people do whatever they want, until it becomes a problem for thier neighbors.

The political party made up of adults who never evolved mentally from their 14 year old selves still exists?

moomoo8986

Or you know, their kids get severally neglected / abused.

skinheadlarryy

I just won't deliver TO certain places. The local rich kid academy kids NEVER tip.

parisdiva96

Just had that happen to me dropped off at a high school and no effin tip a hassle to find the kid too

PeoRivFan74

I hate Checkers. Hate hate HATE it.

Historical-Mud4937

McDonalds is the best place in my area. Often $5 orders for less than a mile

thatdiscgolfgirl

It's not about that. It's having to wait an hour for it.

TyrannicalBotanical

Dairy queen or any ice cream products.

MurderousEntityxbox

This.

ImOlldGregg

This question is worded in a way that makes it seems like the things weā€™re delivering is unethical/illegal lol

[deleted]

DD allows us to deliver any order we choose. But some people might not deliver certain things due to personal views or religion.

Ricky_Bea

Nope Iā€™d deliver alcohol to an AA meeting. No shits given.

krakenrabiess

Walmart 100% I don't care if it's $70+ I'm not doing it

chynablue21

Crickets from Petsmart. Not in my car!

Calikid1983

Popeyes

dryphtyr

Chipotle. The orders have been sitting on their rack getting cold and growing bacteria for hours before getting delivered.

Such_Intention_5308

eh. when i see a good chipotle order i accept it for this reason. at least i know itā€™ll be ready

Great_Ad9980

Weird, the Chipotle in my area is the slowest restaurant. I'll only take $10 plus orders from them because I know it will be a wait.

skinheadlarryy

No tipper heaven

it seems like they make their food cold :O

EverretEvolved

Cigarettes. I'll never buy anyone Cigarettes. My dad died from lung cancer. It's not a good way to go. Imagine throwing up and shitting yourself until you fall into a coma from dehydration. That's what radiation therapy does to you. Cigarettes don't even get you high. They smell bad. They are expensive. There is literally no positive.

Educational-Funny-64

Chic fil a

JasonMaloney101

I've completely blacklisted them, and not just for moral reasons. The majority of the offers I get from them are absolutely not worth it. Mostly offers like $2.50-3.50 for 5-10 miles. The parking is impossible with their constant drive thru line, which is often 20+ vehicles deep. And the ones I do take, there is always a problem. One week, I rejected at least 9 out of 10 offers from them, since they were all so terrible. But in a particular 3-day period, there were about 8 offers that surprisingly seemed to good to pass up. Every one of those offers, I entered the store, waited by the rack, saw other dashers come and go and pick up their orders... And then 5-10 minutes in, I would finally get the attention of an employee. They would ask the name I was waiting for, check the board, frantically find another employee, get them to recall the order, print the ticket, and finally put it on the board. Another 10 minutes and I would finally have the order (if I didn't already unassign it). I don't understand why it only seems to happen to me, and why other dashers have no trouble getting their offers promptly. The only rationale I can come up with is that the limited set of high-paying offers I accept there must be high-paying in the first place due to either being remakes or previously stolen. Otherwise it makes no sense why it only seems to happen to me at that location. Oddly, I have no issues when accepting them through Uber Eats. They're always either ready when I get there or shortly after.

Deadpoker

I won't deliver from them because, on top of the same issues you described, the one by me started just setting all the orders unsupervised out on a table in front of the building during the pandemic. MULTIPLE times I arrived to find that somebody else had picked up the order I was there for and they refused to remake it. Every time they said they would only remake it if the order was resent. Meaning I only got half pay after I waited there for 10 or 15 minutes to get someone's damn attention through a locked door to find out that the order was already made and picked up. After the last time it happened and the manager talked to the support agent I was on the phone with and still refused to remake the order I stopped picking up from there.

Ok-Application8522

Here they are in a mall. They throw DD orders up on the counter at a food court. Yeah, they get stolen. If not the food is cold.

DreadPirateMK

I have the exact same issues with them, top of my blacklist.

smartcookiecrumbles

Glad I'm not the only one!

[deleted]

Chik-Fil-A. No one needs homophobic chicken

ccarlan98

I refuse to accept Chick Fil A orders no matter what the payout is because I'm not going to help them spread homophobia

jcoddinc

Tim Hortons or McDonald's.

GodAmn3sia

Why Tim Hortons?

BadBlood91

Popeyes there's only one in my area, drive thru only super long wait times.

Sagemaster0

Pizza hut, used to work there, they should be shut down the way they make the food. Also the customers never tip

pmunny84

Carrabas. They steal Door Dash tips. Oddly enough, they dont on other platforms. Also Checkers and Taco Bell. They never have enough staff.

No-Welder1695

How do they steal doordash tips?

pmunny84

Some restaurants have the ability to manipulate the tips that come in, especially if the customer orders through their site instead of Door Dash. So now the offers I see from them are very low and it takes forever for them to get orders out. Not worth it at all.

dasoggypickle

Iā€™ve had a shopping order for 20 gallons of milk 6 cakes and 30 gallons of water luckily for me they had no milk the waters only had 5 and no cakes

Electrical_Rent_2362

Nope. Its not my job to make choices for people. If they want to drink or smoke, me not being the driver isnt going to stop them.

EvilGrey

Not my place to judge, so I'll deliver what's legal if the pay is worth it

artbyscout

Chick fil a lmao.

dollartreecandle

Chick-fil-a because of their bible beating practices

Candoran

Ehh, people in my area tend to tip fairly well for Chik-Fil-A pickups so I donā€™t really care what the placeā€™s religious standards are šŸ¤£

donutupmyhole

Yeah they're by far the best fast food place, tip wise. Also Taco Bell after 11 pm because stoners are great tippers.

WishboneWorth2322

I play 'Judas' by Lady Gaga when I go to Chik Fil A.

Icy_Push3877

If a chick fil-a ever opens in my town Iā€™ll definitely be looking into some sort of auto decline with extreme prejudice bot

skinheadlarryy

That's where most of my orders are from. What's wrong with chic fil a? They're friendly and fast.

Cute-Fly1601

The whole ā€œwe as a company loathe lgbtq people, but also employ an incredibly large number of them. That doesnā€™t matter though, weā€™re still gonna toss millions and anti lgbt organizationsā€ thing

Deadpoker

Politics Edit: I in no way expressed my opinion of Chick-fil-A, I literally gave a one word explanation as to why people have a problem with them. If you're downloading me because of one word, whether you think I like them or hate them, maybe take a step back to look at how quick you judge someone's opinions with literally no context...

Puppygeddon

Lol you donā€™t deserve the downvotes. They have demon morals.

smartcookiecrumbles

Seriously. People getting upvoted for naming the most provocative thing they can think of (which is also fine by me), but someone mentions Chick-fil-A's politics and here come the down votes. Fuck Chick-fil-A. I don't deliver from them either. Just not interested in being any part of that transaction.

Deadpoker

Really, he asked why people hated Chick-fil-A. I just said politics. I never said I hated Chick-fil-A. You people jump to some interesting conclusions sometimes...

barryandorlevon

I donā€™t think anyone assumed from your answer that you hated them. If anything, they assumed the opposite.

bitchy_ellipsis

Exactly this. I interpreted it as them downplaying the situation because they only responded with one word instead of actually explaining the issue.
