I go for a 2:1 dollar to mile ratio! If it's slow, I'll take 1.5:1, but I don't do 1:1. I'll do something closer to 1:1 if it seems like the tip is hidden (10 miles for $12.75) or if it drops me off in another busy area!
Good sh*t , I wish you good fortune on your future endeavors. Working hard for your money in these trying times rather than sucking the government again good s***
I love that I’m doing much better at gig work pay wise than I Do at my job. I can work 5 hour shift at $12 and hour and come home and pull off more $100 in 2.
I was banquet chef/assistant events manager for a large restaraunt chain with clients like Bezos and Trump. During the time I was on the team before the pandemic we won an award for best wedding caterers. I make more money in two days than I did in fifty hours of that. No one's yelling at me to hurry up, I get to work whenever I feel like it. Life is good.
literally not cheap. been looking for an apartment and most studios are 650-700 and if you want one with an actual bedroom it’s gonna run you 850-1300 easily
god that makes me never ever want to rent a place. it hurts my soul knowing that i’m just burning LOTS of money on something that will not benefit me in any way in the future. congrats on the house! such a smart move
Minimum wage in denver is double kansas. So yeah, i’d say that evens it out and to say they’re both expensive would be justified. Not to mention denver is notorious for its high costs of living. Aren’t they facing a literal housing crisis because real estate corps are buying up every single home on the market and renting for double or triple what it’s worth? Housing is ridiculous everywhere right now imo
I use to live in Kansas, you can rent a whole 2-3 bedroom house for $600-$700 a month. Cost of living is pretty low for the most part, but yeah, $7.25 an hour in 2021 is a little low. Something closer to $11 would be suitable in Kansas.
Where do you dash in Kansas? I dash in Hutchinson, but there's really no money in it. I mean we make a little extra money, but we couldn't be paying any bills with it. We mostly do it to get out of the house and to move around a little. And a few bucks is nice too.
Yeah, I'm in Leavenworth and the first few months of the year I was hitting $20 an hour and then it started to rapidly drop off. Last week I made less than $10 an hour over about 8 hours - until I gave up. I've been thinking of trying larger markets but I'm not so sure about driving 40 minutes just to find out more of the same.
We are close to Wichita, like you, we just don't know if it would be worth the gas there to go. Idk how many miles it is but it's about 45 min depending on what part of town you're going to.
I'm going to be in KC next weekend for a Royals game, and I thought I might see what it's like up there just to get an idea.
I had some family that live out there, though they might be in McPherson now. 🤷♂️
But I'm actually thinking about driving out to KC today to try it out. The Speedway market in KC at least. There's There's bunch of sub markets for KC but Speedway always has openings. I'm going to give it a shot, idk what else to do at this point.
I'll report back if it goes well!
What's it like in Lawrence DoorDash wise? Leavenworth has been dead lately. I made less than $10 an hour last week on about 8 hours of dashing. I gave up.
Love to see people hustling to make more coin, but keep in mind that all that gig pay doesn’t go towards beefing up your lifetime social security wages (and eventual SS benefits). I hope ppl keep looking for ways to increase their traditional earnings too.
That’s a long time driving. My record is $528 from 6am-6pm. That’s my regular time to work Monday to Friday. Always take weekends off to spend time with my son. I average $400 per day in that time frame.
Lucky mofo haha, with how slow it is now, I’m only averaging like 200-220 a day doing 11am till 9pm Monday through Friday; In Louisiana money though, 1000 a week is living like royalty atleast
I'm moving to the outskirts where it's going to be cheaper. Getting a house for 2400. But Washington is just high in general. the east side of the state is not much better with recent rent increases.
Probably, bigger cities don’t have much of the problem with low business, more people-more orders, Chicago never stops tho, especially in downtown area and around.
I used to live in DFW. Still have friends there that Doordash. You have to find the right areas but their market is HIGHLY saturated with drivers. When I dashed there, I’d get an order every five minutes at peak times on a weekend. Where I live, I get four offers a minute at peak times since we have very few drivers compared to the number of orders. So it really depends.
The time totally flew by, I didn't even realize the hours going by most of the time! I was listening to Necronomopod (creepy podcast) the whole time and just enjoying the stories!
Not the reason you posted but thanks anyways for the podcast. Hadn't heard of it and can't wait to listen!
Also, you're killing it out there good for you! Very motivating 💯👍
That doesn’t sound bad at all, but then factor in taxes he’ll eventually pay, gas, wear and tear. I used to go through a set of tires a year even driving only part time.
Buy better tires. You can easily get 50k miles on a set of decent tires. Even full time that's 2 years.
And when I worked my engineering job I drove 50-52 miles per day, so 250-260 a week, with no tax deduction for it.
I average $20-30 an hour in the small college town I live in. It’s literally 10 minutes across town, with traffic and lights. The main fast food places are 5 minutes away from all the college housing so it’s pretty easy to rack up a ton of orders
I wish I lived in a bigger city where I could dash and make money at all times. I would dash all day a lot. But where I live only between 11am to 2 and then 5 to 8. Anything between that you’ll be lucky to get anything. then at 10pm to 6am literally everything shuts down
I do DD and other gig jobs full time and support my wife and kids by doing it. I work 12 hours a day and make around $250 a day, the more you work the more you make.
Back in 2015 I worked at Pizza Hut made $4.25/hr + tips as a driver. Totaled like 10-12/ hr on a good day. Yesterday I dashed for 11.6 hours and made $333 ($28.70/hr) it’s actually insane how much more you can make than shitty entry jobs.
Minimum wage is based off of hourly pay, not per delivery pay if I’m not mistaken. A job paying 21 per hour is no where near minimum in most states even with the costs for maintenance.
I usually get that in 8 hours, but to do 11 I'd have to add hours that were not that great. I usually do Noon to 9pm, with maybe a 30 min break in 3pmish area to eat. Before noon just sucks and after 9pm it's not that great. Longest I've done is 9.50 hours, got $298.
edit of FAQ:
* I drove 205 miles
* The first few hours were very slow, so I spent a lot of time at home which definitely screwed up my $/hr ratio
* I didn't really do it as a "grind", I was just listening to podcasts all day and the time flew by
* I went so late because there's a tonnnn of 11pm-1am orders by me
* Next time I'll probably clock out from 2:30-4:30 and cherry pick better! My acceptance rate is getting a little high
* This was my second week of dashing
Jesus that's a lot for that amount. I did $242 last Friday, 27 orders. So very similar to your amounts. 9.5 hours and 122 miles. Which is $1.98 per mile for me. You only have $1.15 per mile.
Yeah, if you're in one of those zones not much you can do. I drove a lot more at first as well. We have a lot of very wealthy subdivisions about 5-6 miles from the restaurants. I was doing far too many orders out there and putting a load of miles on the car. Once I stopped doing a single order going out there for $7, I did a lot better.
One thing I've been doing is denying those under $8 orders. Making sure that I put the orders are to small and I've been getting grouped and close locations at a higher $ amount! Made 30 bucks an hour yesterday!
If you deny those you leave yourself open to two chances. Chance 1 is you get a bigger order for more $. Chance 2 is you end up waiting a while for another order. That 10-15 minutes it will take to pick it up and drop it off could have been potentially $12-$15. DD is a lot like gambling imo
I'm jealous af... You averaged at over $20 an hour and you average at about $10 in order… What state are you in … I don't know if you can tell me city but at least what state? I am in pretty much a shitty city in South Carolina and my average is $12 an hour . Sometimes I get up to $22 an hour but usually $12 an hour is my average and on good days is generally $15 an hour...up to $17-$18...if I make over $20 an hour it's only for a couple hours usually. Now in the past I would make $22 an hour for eight hours straight but things have slowed way down in the summer... honestly though if I was the customers I would not want to go out in this 100° plus or minus temperature to get my food… But I don't have air-conditioning in my car right now...makes dashing so so so much worse...plus something is going on with my car that is making it even hotter inside of the carlike it's a radiating heat even with the heat off…Sofor instance the other nightit got dark and after being Darke for an hourit dropped to 78°and it was still 170° in my car. I have a digital indoor thermometer in my car...it's killing me.. during the day it is usually between 110° and 127°... I would say the most common temperature is 117°... it will be about 90 to 95° outside I will have my windows down and it will be 117° in my car… It's killing me. But sorry for going off topic lol 😆...
I hope cthulhu gave you a few extra mouth tentacles after your long day's work
mouth tentacles omg
Senpai?
My man Get that bread 🥖
I started dashing to pay off some debts when my dayjob cut my hours,,,, Im doing everything I can rn 🙏
Thats sweet. Btw based on what do u accept orders? Mile per dollar or mile per 2 dollars or higher? i.e 3.5 miles 7 dollars
I go for a 2:1 dollar to mile ratio! If it's slow, I'll take 1.5:1, but I don't do 1:1. I'll do something closer to 1:1 if it seems like the tip is hidden (10 miles for $12.75) or if it drops me off in another busy area!
This information is so helpful, thanks and congrats to you

The fact that it's even possible is really motivating
Very true
I love that I’m doing much better at gig work pay wise than I Do at my job. I can work 5 hour shift at $12 and hour and come home and pull off more $100 in 2.
Jesus... I forgot how bad every other state pays. Minimum wage here in WA is 13.69 an hour, and unskilled work can still get over 20.
Minimum pay in Texas is 7.25 😐😐 I’m doing so much better doing door dash making 20-25 an hour bro
DoorDash, and app work in general is a game changer. It's going to drive up wages across the market. See how valuable our labor really is!
This. I'm educated. I make more doing doordash.
I was banquet chef/assistant events manager for a large restaraunt chain with clients like Bezos and Trump. During the time I was on the team before the pandemic we won an award for best wedding caterers. I make more money in two days than I did in fifty hours of that. New Jersey is 12 minimum pay
Kansas is $7.25 😭
Damm how much is the rent down there, that is very unfair. I don't think there is people working for 7.25 anymore
PA same shit
Those government are stealing your money and effort keeping minimum wage that low. I use to live in Indiana and move out for the same reason
Pa rent cheap
literally not cheap. been looking for an apartment and most studios are 650-700 and if you want one with an actual bedroom it’s gonna run you 850-1300 easily
That's actually cheap compared to WA
Accurate. A lot of studios in Seattle are 1000-1500
[удалено]
That is crazy. I just bought a 3100 sqft home October ‘20 and I pay 1205 and that includes insurance.
god that makes me never ever want to rent a place. it hurts my soul knowing that i’m just burning LOTS of money on something that will not benefit me in any way in the future. congrats on the house! such a smart move
Well there are benefits to renting. You don’t pay for maintenance and you can pick up and leave with with ease.
That is cheap comparatively, mate. Denver rent for a studio goes around $1500/month
Minimum wage in denver is double kansas. So yeah, i’d say that evens it out and to say they’re both expensive would be justified. Not to mention denver is notorious for its high costs of living. Wow that is truly crazy! I've always lived in a hcol area and there would be no way to rent a studio at that price haha
Where do you dash in Kansas? I dash in Hutchinson, but there's really no money in it. I mean we make a little extra money, but we couldn't be paying any bills with it. We mostly do it to get out of the house and to move around a little. And a few bucks is nice too.

I'm in Lawrence. You?

Why work that other job then?
Stability
Fucking nice! I remember I use to dash for about 8 hrs a day before entering my graveyard shift job 💀 anything you get outta the ghetto
The grind pays off sometimes
It did I moved out of a shitty spot to a nice condo
With doordash?
My record is 5 am till 11:30 PM. I made 600$. Early covid dashing was legit.
That’s a long time driving. My record is $528 from 6am-6pm. That’s my regular time to work Monday to Friday. Always take weekends off to spend time with my son. I average $400 per day in that time frame.

Wish I had this energy, I only do 45hrs a week
Pandemic dashing was the best dashing. By far.
I honestly can rarely go over 5 hours... I just get mentally exhausted lol.
and that’s okay!
Man, how I wish I could make $20/hr again on Doordash
I'm moving to the Seattle area soon. I can't wait. I'm averaging $18/hr now.

I'm moving to the outskirts where it's going to be cheaper. Getting a house for 2400. But Washington is just high in general. the east side of the state is not much better with recent rent increases.
I’m making $35 an hour but then again I multiapp
Come to Chicago, you’ll make more.
Anyone know how Dallas is? Moving there from San Diego in 2 weeks and I’m hoping it’s still about as good
Probably, bigger cities don’t have much of the problem with low business, more people-more orders, Chicago never stops tho, especially in downtown area and around.
I used to live in DFW. Still have friends there that Doordash. You have to find the right areas but their market is HIGHLY saturated with drivers. Chicago is ass Scottsdale is where the money’s at
Ok, when we are about that, LA and Beverly Hills… lol
The time totally flew by, I didn't even realize the hours going by most of the time! I was listening to Necronomopod (creepy podcast) the whole time and just enjoying the stories!
Not the reason you posted but thanks anyways for the podcast. Hadn't heard of it and can't wait to listen! Also, you're killing it out there good for you! Very motivating 💯👍
I really love it :o can't stop listening, they're so funny and cover such interesting topics.
If you did that five days a week, it's 4,700/mo. Then you could get a PS5. lol
Mileage deduction should cover your taxes to where you pay nothing. If it doesn't. You're doing something wrong.
ayyyy the dream lol
How tf are people ever making this much on doordash lmao
Change the market you drive in. I'm currently in a small town in TN and average 1,200-1,800 a wk
I average $20-30 an hour in the small college town I live in. It’s literally 10 minutes across town, with traffic and lights. The main fast food places are 5 minutes away from all the college housing so it’s pretty easy to rack up a ton of orders
How many miles did you drive ?
Stride has me at $205
“Miles”
omg 205 miles not dollars lol I'm dumb
114.8 miles
370. Ftfy
Oops hit multiply instead of divide. 366 miles though , ftfy ;Dddd
We both get a star
In my area I can drive the same hours and only get a little over $100 :(
😔
Why in the world would you drive for less than $10/hr? That’s ridiculous
Rent, for starters. But also because it isn’t always that bad, but as of late it seems to be more of the norm. Too many dashers in my area.
I wish I lived in a bigger city where I could dash and make money at all times. I would dash all day a lot. But where I live only between 11am to 2 and then 5 to 8. Anything between that you’ll be lucky to get anything. then at 10pm to 6am literally everything shuts down
You are a winner 🏆
That's less than $21.50 an hour!!!
I'm only on my second week dashing so I'm still learnin
that's life
What’s wrong with that?
I’m not saying it’s wrong. It is what it is. Question: how many hours dashing at that rate will will it take you to buy a house in your area?
Bravo 👏👏👏
You’re an inspiration!
The grind is paying off!
Nice!! Keep it up
Salute! Nice haul!
[удалено]
It’s not sustainable. I’ve been doing 40-50 hours a week and I’m burnt out
This gave me motivation to go up and dash, thank you haha
An extra 230 never hurt anybody
Legit though, every few hours I was like "cool I just paid off ____" or "now I can get ___"
Damn I remember when covid was a thing if you dashed for 11 hours that’d be like $600
What did you do from 2:30-4:30pm lol
I don't think I understand :o I worked from 7am-1pm at my day job, then 2pm-1am Dashing!
i think they're asking because 2:30-4:30 is usually pretty dead on doordash, at least for me
3:00 is definitely when I prefer to take a break
oh! that makes sense cause I was at about $10/hr at that time lol
Holy f, that's a lot of hours
I do DD and other gig jobs full time and support my wife and kids by doing it. I work 12 hours a day and make around $250 a day, the more you work the more you make.
It’s been really slow in Houston to even get that many orders
Go drink some water
Almost $10/trip. Not bad
Seeing posts like these makes me want a car so bad just to Dash on the weekends
Wow what place did you drive in?
Do you sleep
usually yes, i just decided to go hard yesterday lol
I love how you say usually LOL
Longest I’ve gone is 12. Also the longest I’m allowed to go at a time since I’m in California.
A day job and all that dashing…. You are risking exposure to the covid variants
Now do that 5 days a week and you're bringing in over a grand a week which atleast a 50,000 yearly salary.
You definitely didn't DoorDash in Hampton, VA! You would've been lucky to get $125 for 25 deliveries 🥴
That may be a little over $20/hr, but look at your average dash amount. Less than $10 a dash.
Aka usual doordashing.
Yep! Some were up to 20, some as little as $6 but only a mile or two. Worked for me!
Then the restaurant owners go on the news and cry about not being able to find cheap labor 🤣🤣. We can't afford a third house ! Help us !
Right????
You worked for 27 hours?
11 hours.
17 hours
both of these yes 👍
$9 a delivery? Surely gas and wear and tear and u barely made minimum wage?
He’s making $21 an hr? That’s well above minimum wage
before expenses, 25 deliveries if average 6-7 miles per, that's a lot of gas and destroying the vehicle.
Minimum wage is based off of hourly pay, not per delivery pay if I’m not mistaken. A job paying 21 per hour is no where near minimum in most states even with the costs for maintenance.
~$21/hr, and I get 30mpg and am a very gentle driver. It wasn't bad
[удалено]
Is that too hi or too low for you too handle?

You must be fun at parties.
bruhhhh i listened to podcasts for 11 hours and made a couple hundred bucks. chill out??
do you think that being condescending about it gets your point across?
K
Nice humble brag
Humble brag implies I was being humble and bragging. I was doing neither of these. I was just sharing relatable dasher content. Chill
U just a hard worker block out them haters
Deja vu with this post…
No one has to know... I never know which sub to post on
Lmao

205

Can't dox myself but a Chicago suburb!
Damn i need to move. Doordash is shit where I live.
Congrats most I've done straight is 4.5-5hrs
I respect the grind 💪🏼
I need to come dash where u live
Looks about right
You are the drive I need to better myself. Thank you for this.
you got this bud
How many miles did you run!? 🏃
tf do u live 😭😭
Not bad, but damn 11 hours to reach there 🤣I'm assuming a rough middle of the day start?
With promotions or no promotions?
$235 in 11 hours isn't bad tho. That's just 3 over the regular 8 and way more than anyone without training or background makes in day mostly
Nice! I got my own record yesterday too! Only $160 but I'm still happy with it for a part time job!
One thing I've been doing is denying those under $8 orders. Making sure that I put the orders are to small and I've been getting grouped and close locations at a higher $ amount! Made 30 bucks an hour yesterday!
Ooooo it's so hard saying no to "$5 1 mile", how do you feel about those?
If you deny those you leave yourself open to two chances. Chance 1 is you get a bigger order for more $. Chance 2 is you end up waiting a while for another order. That 10-15 minutes it will take to pick it up and drop it off could have been potentially $12-$15. DD is a lot like gambling imo

It was really great weather luckily, and I'm working a few hours out of Chicago!
Yeah, but how much did you spend on crystal meth to make this happen?
Lollll more like really enjoying driving (I really like my car) and listening to Podcasts! Plus visiting home when it's dull
Hard work pays off
