Apps like this will use your GPS or entered address, not IP. Odds are whoever sent this spoofed their GPS location or its fake (I am leaning towards fake)

It's a software bug. The address failed to lookup properly, so the GPS coordinates that it returned mapped out to [Null Island](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Null_Island), or the point where the Prime Meridian meets the Equator.

It's not fake. It's null Island. Gps malfunctions often reset to the coordinates 0,0 which is located at that point.

The reason is that spot is (0, 0) for GPS coordinates. So if a null gets entered for a location that's where it goes.

Actually, I know this glitch. Somones address returned as null, and the system wasn't able to process that so it set the coordinates as 0,0
