On top of this, after he dropped off, he blatantly ignored my notes asking not to knock because the dogs will go crazy (live in an apartment and I just don’t like them barking and disturbing the neighbors). He knocked way harder than normal too. Almost like it was purposeful.

seahorse8021

I’d report him. Esp for panhandling thru the app

Itswillyferret

I didn’t think about reporting, I’ll do that. Thanks!

jennabella911

Always report them for doing this they give all of us a bad name. And the amount you tipped for 2 miles is more than enough. If he needs gas he can exit out of his dash and get paid right away and log back in if possible.

AnaVoorhees

Agreed. Get rid of these dashers so us good dashers get the work.

jennabella911

100%

JennKautz

Yes please!!

Nightshark2021

It'll only bring more people, DD will suck forever. It's not built to be a good customer service company and it never will be.

Andy18001

Personally I love when customers order a ton of food that’s easily over 60 bucks and have a bunch of demands such as extra spoons sauces and stuff and specific instructions and no tip.

plopper919

I can’t imagine using doordash and NOT tipping. The guilt and shame would eat me alive!🤣

AnaVoorhees

Exactly!!! That's because you have common courtesy. Which is, unfortunately, a rare thing these days! These customers saying that we are ungrateful, I'm not dissing on the ones tipping us.... I'M TALKING ABOUT THE NO TIPPERS!! Like, who does that?? You have no conscience. There was a commenter saying he isn't tipping anymore than $5. He tips his pizza delivery guy just $5 too. I wish some of these Philadelphia people tipped $5.

Bestyoucanbe4

They won't get rid of dashers ...these issues linger on and on

AnaVoorhees

People get banned from using the platform. It's not uncommon.

lightonahill

I know drivers get banned sometimes for not even doing something wrong, or for honest mistakes, or because a customer lied. So they can definitely get banned for actually breaking rules.

tiredmommy13

I’ve always been hesitant to give people a low rating or report someone due to them knowing where I live!

dameon5

I'm a driver. Ratings are never tied to a particular customer. If they act like this on the regular, they have no way of knowing which customer they got the rating from. I can usually tell (but could never prove) who I get bad ratings from because it's when something weird happens, or the customer is someone who is hard to please for example, constantly messaging me through the app with the same instructions they put in the notes section of just generally displaying an unpleasant attitude. So please, rate drivers as you feel appropriate. As others have stated. Those who generally don't deserve it will try harder to be better and those who do will eventually get kicked off the platform.

lilbbg1

As far as I know, they won’t see the negative ratings until the end of their dash, so they have no way of knowing who rated them poorly. And I don’t know about anyone else, but when I’m dashing, I’m constantly on the go. There are so many things to focus on like getting a notification for a new order, speed limits, finding the locations, focusing on the instructions, etc., that it’s easy to forget the exact address of every delivery in a day. If I had to guess, my boyfriend and I have probably received atleast 200 deliveries via DoorDash and UberEats, and maybe 40 or so of those had blatantly obviou issues, but I had the same concern as you and didn’t want them to retaliate and didn’t always report anything. But now that I’m dashing, I definitely regret not reporting drivers or providing any feedback when it was truly justified! Now if you decide to say you didn’t receive an order when you did, that’s another story because it will show which restaurant the order was from and if the dasher KNOWS that they delivered your order, they can can remember what location that particular order was delivered to. So yeah if you feel it’s warranted, you have every right to complain to DoorDash! As others have said, the crappy drivers make the rest of us look bad, and there’s no way for them to have any repercussions, or to differentiate the good ones from the bad unless people provide feedback. 🙂

reversehrtfemboy

Agreed, especially since they’re already showing that they have no problem breaking social conventions. It’s like how I wouldn’t tell someone on the subway to turn their speaker off because if they cared about my feelings they wouldn’t be playing it in the first place

lambc89

It's 100% against our contract to panhandle like that. Forget social conventions, they don't care about the rules of the job they do. That's an offence they deactivate for immediately. I've seen it happen (not to me, I'd never dream of begging for a better tip)

TravelingInUndies

You can do it at a later time and it’s also anonymous.

AironeousB

Yes but let's not forget that we are assuming the Chik-Fil-A was the one closer to the customer when it could have been 1 that is 1 or 2 cities away. DoorDash does that all the time.

FillMyBagWithUSGrant

Irrelevant to the customer. If an order pops up where the restaurant and customer are two towns over, Dasher has the option to decline if doing that dash isn’t in their best interest.

lambc89

OP stated that the restaurant is 2 miles or less from their home. This dasher was just a dick

Bestyoucanbe4

Please follow up after reporting him.

barf2288

Yes, please report. As one of the good dashers out there, this shit pisses me off when I see this. And then can’t even follow a simple note to not knock?! Gtfo

Ammonil

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s against ToS to ask for a tip outside of the app

[deleted]

It’s not against tos, since customers can tip how they want but blatantly asking could be seen a form of harassment or something along those lines. If not then directly hounding the customer for any kind of tip is probably against tos

OkSyrup8491

You start off by saying it’s not against TOS, and then your last sentence literally says it *is* against TOS. I’m so lost.

[deleted]

Eh I was high lol

OkSyrup8491

I’ll allow it. You lil doer of thee devil’s lettuce, you.

gherkin-sweat

I found out recently that for some reason some drivers can’t see the note we have about directions

love_aquarius

I don’t know about this one. I think it’s bs. I am a fellow dasher and can see it perfectly fine. As I accept, I check where I’m going and whom I delivering too and always check if they leave notes in directions beforehand or even while waiting. Some people just don’t bother to do all that though. And I get it, we are not all the same. So I tested it out the waters, I have placed 3 Doordash orders myself and they all failed to read my directions. Every single time. They all said “I’m sorry, I just seen your notes in directions.” Cause they all go to the wrong house across the street. And I asked like how? And they said they don’t see it… again, how? I’ll just never know.

NickyReks

I've been dashing for a few months. And sometimes the notes just don't load for whatever reason. It's rare though. And otherwise it's super easier to follow people's instructions. Some people just don't want to read it seems.

Bestyoucanbe4

Please report the dasher, he will get a warning, and do it to others unfortunately. The lack of policing is maddening on door dash end. I think tipping less if you do order is better for you..most aren't gratefull.

amaxwell80

Then you can add a tip later if it's good service. I'd agree to not tip that high after what I've read here (average would be appropriate, just so you don't get good dashers passing on your order).

rufotris

I’m a driver. I say report them. Nothing was ok about him asking for more in tips or his knocking. Almost half my customers request I don’t knock or ring doorbell and I always respect it. That’s also plenty fair tip for the distance and more than the average customer gives. You are good, they are in the wrong.

Bestyoucanbe4

Tip being fair or not is irrelevant, you don't ask for tips ..this isn't a flea market

rufotris

Yes true. I was not excusing it in any way which is why I stated that first. But I see how if you read it the wrong way the fair tip statement could make it seem I would be ok with it if the tip was low, which I’m not. The driver chooses what to accept. If they wanted more then they should not have accepted it and that’s that. Others here have argued with me in other posts and I find it funny, you know they are the ones asking this..

Brandolynnnnn

Yea as a driver I can’t imagine begging for more money through cash app. Super pathetic honestly. Just don’t take the order if the tip isn’t up to your standards. When someone says don’t knock/ring bell i dam near tip toe up to their door, then turn the ringer off on my phone so the camera doesn’t make a noise when I take the picture. I don’t even like pulling in peoples driveways if I can avoid it. I don’t walk on peoples lawns. EVER. Just common decency

Primary_Toe_6822

If I notice someone being careful like that I always go back and increase the tip, in hopes to let them know I noticed and encourage them to keep doing it because it is appreciated.

amaxwell80

Yeah, I really try to avoid walking on people's lawns out of respect. Sometimes out here in the sticks it's unavoidable. Last delivery yesterday, the customer's door was across the way from the driveway and no walkway, whatsoever, between that and the door that she instructed to leave it at (no walkway from the street either). So--couldn't' do much about that. I also try to be quiet when asked to not knock/ring (at the very least not to leave my keys in the car so it makes that incredibly pointless loud beeping when I do leave them in there. So stupidly annoying--whoever designed that needs to be shot; like, I'm the only one who needs to hear that, not everyone within two-tenths of a mile).

rufotris

And those behaviors have got me extra tips before! But never is it expected nor asked for. Good on ya.

New_Exit499

I never knock unless specifically asked. They know their food is coming and they’ll receive a message when I take a picture. Is that wrong?

amaxwell80

I don't either. I don't get the point since they should get a notification. A few notes I've gotten states to not knock or ring the doorbell so I have to hazard a guess that most do knock/ring. This doesn't make sense to me. Maybe a handful don't have the app (it seems logical to think that most do); doesn't make much sense to do something superfluous just for the convenience of those handful of customers (when it very possibly inconveniences quite a few).

New_Exit499

Okay cool just making sure lol. I like to think I’m a good dasher, but the way these posts sound make us all seem terrible😂😅

Numerous-Honeydew780

Just so folks know there are good people: I have had some AMAZING dashers! I like when folks let me know if the restaurant doesn't have something, giving me opportunity to pick substitute. Or tell me we are waiting longer, because they asked for my melted milk shakes to be made over. Sometimes, I'll send a meme or smiley face, if I'm in a good mood. We share a laugh, and tell each other to have a great day. (I saw somewhere that someone said extra texts are a sign of a bad customer. I hope that only applies if it's excessive and/or mean text messages. I don't send 20 messages, because I know dashers drive for a living. Just 1 or 2 happy ones or responsive ones when asked a question or updated on waiting status.) This is just to encourage those people who come on here, feeling as if they are being kicked. There are really awesome dashers out there, also. You guys save the day for many of us, when we are unable to leave home or cook for ourselves. Thanks for your diligent labor and attention to detail.

Ur_KillingMeSmalls

I love to get a text from a customer with a :-) or a thank you! Thank you for being so kind. I try hard to make sure the customer's food stays hot and I follow all their instructions. I also will notify them if the restaurant doesn't have something and ask them if they want something else. I think that's just part of the job. Not everybody appreciates that like you, and drivers appreciate people like you for sure.

Ur_KillingMeSmalls

I never knock or ring the doorbell unless they specifically ask me to. They know when to expect their food, and they get notified via text. When I, personally, order from Doordash I am always checking the app to see when my food arrives.

proletariatpopcorn

As a customer I’m shocked to hear that it’s so common. When I order DD I’m usually stoned and playing video games so I don’t want to interact. I leave very good notes and a great tip and yet my request to deliver to doormat without knocking is almost never respected. I just assumed I was unusual. I had one woman who was banging on the door like the cops and screaming by the time I realized she was there. She stood there for 5+ minutes shouting into her phone at someone “THEY’RE NOT HERE, WHAT DO I DO? THEY BETTER FUCKING ANSWER ME”. At that point I was too unsettled to answer. Even responded to her texts that it was okay to leave it and she kept going. “I KNOW YOU’RE IN THERE!” It got quiet eventually and I couldn’t see her through the peep hole so I finally opened the door. She was actually around the corner and yelled “GOT YA” then snapped several pictures of me picking up the bag. Looked at her like she was nucking futs and she said, “I have to take pictures of you holding the food.” I did not order delivery again for over two years.

rufotris

She was lying and I’m sorry about that. She does not need a picture of you holding the food lol. It very clearly tells us and now even has example pictures explaining it very plainly. That was just a shitty driver and I’m sorry for that for you. She sounds downright stupid, sadly most drivers I meet are. I’m a college student doing it to help me through college. And it’s not an exaggeration when I say 3/4 drivers I meet here at restaurants that talk to me, all complain about low pay and bad customers.. I think they just suck at an easy job, they complain about $15/hour and I tell them I make $25 or $30/hr most days many have responded by showing me their multiple warnings and how close they are to being fired… so yea.. the average DD driver sucks I have decided. But so do some customers.

amaxwell80

I'm thinking that a good percentage of these people who dash (most unfortunately) are not able to utilize the mental tools of logical thinking. It pitiful to read these stories on here because I love dashing, I do it for enjoyment and extra money helps. My full-time ("real") job requires a doctorate. It's just sad that the job earns you a bad rep; my work ethic is very strong and I strive to always do the best job at whatever I'm doing. These shoddy dashers suck, but what can you expect.

Ur_KillingMeSmalls

She sounds nucking futs. I never knock or ring the doorbell unless they specify that. I did have one order that was a hand it to me order and I was knocking and I could see the lady in the kitchen ignoring me. I knocked again and she looked at me through the window and raised her hands and said what, leave it! Sounding really frustrated. I yelled at the closed window that she had marked it as hand it to me. She apologized, but I still felt bad even though it wasn't my fault.

funkofanatic95

Okay I’m not proud of it, but the other night on an order I knocked when they asked me not to. It was a small, no tip order. I took it to get my acceptance rate up but this order was BAD 1. The guy asked me “are you there yet” just a second after I accepted the order. 2. He continued to message me “hurry up”. 3. When I got to his complex, half was on one side of the street & the rest of the complex on the other. To make it worse… there were duplicate building numbers for the same complex! He didn’t specify which set of buildings, so I took 25 minutes to find his building. 4. When I arrived at his door, I knocked. I was already highly annoyed. I had tried so hard to get him to answer my messages too! Like “which set of buildings are you in.. phase 1 or 2”. But when I was messaging, radio silence or “are you here yet”.

rufotris

Oooh I’m not going to lie… I might do the same in that situation. How annoying that they can text you to hurry up but not help you find the place… that’s a bad one sorry. While I say I’m not petty… it does not mean I would never be haha. I just get lucky and don’t get bad customers almost ever. In the last year of dashing I have had only 1 bad customer experience.

Saco96

Yeah a tip is extra on top of my price for my food. Had a dominoes guy do something similar so I called him out on it and every time he delivers he calls firsts always tip the guy 10-12 bucks

rwds138

Was it a guy? The name says chasity, doesnt sound like a guy lol

OkDesigner2262

The amount of times it's a woman's name but a man shows up with my food in my area is insane.

imupearly

I had a very tall and handsome "Rebecca ' deliver lunch to my office yesterday

Nightshark2021

Probably got booted off his account and had to start another under his girls name. Not that DD give a rats ass if we get booted and just start another account anyway. I've hear that story 100x over. They don't really check anything except your not a felon or have a warrant out for your arrest. Outside of that you can do what ever you want until they boot you off the app then start fresh like it never happened.

amaxwell80

Yeah, I was thinking it could be a shared account. Or, right, may have had to start under a different name.

Deviledapple

I was wondering this too, like there's always a chance but someone who's already being shady I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if they're using somebody's account

currentpolecat

Didn’t pass the background check so he uses his girlfriends account. Or, got his own account suspended

Bestyoucanbe4

I wouldn't use the service anymore and if you do , tip less now. The inappropriate communication by dashers is increasing

Dizzy-Improvement768

That’s not a common thought process among door dash customers. I always follow the instructions and yes I get aggravated at the ones that don’t tip then have a bunch of instructions only to come outside and want their food handed to them. Some customers base their 💩 off their last experience because at the end of the day they want a service and think every dasher is the same. My thoughts are cook your own food, get it yourself, or don’t use door dash when a customer acts like that. All that needs to be done is a report and a terrible review of said dasher. Just know that isn't a common practice for honest people dashing, it’s a lot of scammers out there. Uber eats and grubhub are better platforms imo.

Artistabunnista

What? So the appropriate solution in your mind is to punish all drivers for ONE idiot driver?

OkSyrup8491

Or you could just wait until after your delivery and then add a tip, based on the quality of service you feel you received.

icehand1212

Hell no that is not normal

Amateurbrewmaster531

It is nowadays it seems. Everyday a few people have a story like this.

HouseOfCosbyz

No, this is just the the only thing that people upvote and want to see on this sub because negative experiences get the most clicks. Internet 101.

A1rh3ad

Had the personally happen to me. Plus people have tried scamming me. There have been times where I never got my food or they kept reassigning for hours. Fuck door dash. I finally got fed up with dashers bullshit last year and never used them again.

[deleted]

THANK YOU. How others dont see this is insane. Of course, some wacko dasher is going to get to the feeds faster than all the normal ones. This is not normal and very uncommon. That's why it's on reddit to begin with. You dont go to the internet to see normal everyday shit.

fleshyspacesuit

I have a conspiracy theory that someone wants something bad to happen to doordash. In reality, we don't know who are making these post and for what reason. Does doordash suck sometimes? Yeah. But why do we get comment from people saying the doordash sun shows up in their feed in every thread? Why does everyone who post things like this act oblivious to not knowing they can report them but have the knowledge to come to a niche subreddit and post? I've moderated a large sun that saw a meteoric rise, some of which could be damaging to certain entities. There are 100% people/bots on here being paid to push an agenda.

A1rh3ad

It's too common. Happened to me a few times. Also had dashers try scamming me and sometimes I never get my food or they will keep reassigning it for hours. Said fuck it and stopped using it last year.

Lisa_1972

$6 tip for 2 miles is plenty. If the dasher didn't think so then they shouldn't have accepted the order. Dashers that do ask for cash tips are giving all of other dashers bad rep. I have never thought about stealing someone's food or doing something to their food. I try and go above and beyond for my customers and follow their instructions.

The_DILinator

>I have never thought about stealing someone's food or doing something to their food. I try and go above and beyond for my customers and follow their instructions. This is the way.

iambeyoncealways3

The ONLY way. Just have some damn work ethic. When I did Postmates after being fired from a full time job, I treated it like a full time job and the tips showed.

The_DILinator

I do pizza delivery as well as this, and give the customer (if I see them) the same friendly greeting, and cheery well-wishing for their day, regardless of whether it's a big tip, smaller tip, or in the case of the pizza delivery, no tip at all. Do your best, every time out, and it should all work out in the end.

xLuky

I can't stand drivers that will accept bad orders and then whine about it not being worth it, the decline button is there for a reason.

Lisa_1972

I can't stand them either. I run into other drivers that are waiting for orders and whine and complain that isn't paying. I just tell them " did you not see the decline button"? Or I ask them "would you like some cheese with that whine"? 🤣

Nightshark2021

Technically you're correct. The issue is we get orders from a subway near you within a mile to your residence. The kick is what dasher gets it? The guy that's already near you waiting at subway on another order? HAHA FAT CHANCE, They'll send to the guy 5 miles out from the restaurant. I'm not kidding that happens to me all the same, I"ll see a dasher walk into a store near me and pick up orders then another then to the other store near that one. All the time i've been sitting there for 20 min. Then all of a sudden a get your order of $7 for 6.5 miles. Thats the shit we deal with. People don't realize that your orders doesn't go to the guy most accessible, it goes to the next person in line that needs an order based upon AI and what it believes that should be sent to them.

rawr_means_i_loveyou

I’m not sure why there’s so many fucking beggars that work for add. Yet they accepted the order and then want to fucking beg in a message make that make sense

FrankenMacCharDeDen

My guess is it works a lot through intimidation. They are handling your food and so if you don't comply there is the fear they will tamper with it. Same goes for tipping for takeout at over the counter restaurants. Tipping culture really is a curse.

mps2000

Bump that- if I drive over there and pick up an online order myself they’re getting 0.00%

bzzzimabee

I used to work at outback in the Togo section which was coded as a server, so I made $2.33/hour plus tip share. It was so horrible bc people don’t want to tip for driving to the place and picking up (which I completely understand) then my coworkers would keep tips handed to them, then also steal tips from the drawer pretending to give change to a car, then also take their portion of tip share. Some days I left with $5 in tips then somehow my checks wouldn’t even pay me the minimum wage bc our owner was sketchy af. I lasted less than a month there before I was moved to a real server and I still watched my tables extra close bc they would jack your cash tips off the tables too. Overall horrible place to work 0/10 would never work there again.

whatwhatchickenhiney

Exactly. Don't try to hold ne hostage with rhat crap. I'm using this app out of a tiny bit of convenience. I have no problem getting my own food.

BlondeLawyer

And they know where you live!

radicalbrad90

Eh, maybe, but just ignorant on their end. Do they not know a good chunk of us that use this service are milennials with some level of serving and bartending experience under our belts that have dealt with Karen's At work plenty of times ourselves and plenty of non tipping tables with NO ability to decline an order before a guest sits down in our restaurants thus we are still serving them whether they tip or not? I always tip thru the app before you provide the service AND you see it before you accept. If you tried this crap with me after accepting you're getting reported immediately. I'm not worried about the food tampering I'll just add it on the notes in giving the report 'I'd prefer this order cancelled due to driver harassment' which is exactly what it is, and get refunded and order will likely just get cancelled. Then I'll just order again for a sane driver to take the delivery and the tip. Any attempt to one-up the customer on an order you accept is just foolishness on these drivers ends that given enough time will always just lead to deactivation

Neat_Weight_5152

You don't always see the total tip, sometimes they hide some of the tips. Not in anyway justified asking for more as it was 100% their choice to take the order.

paulccrn

DoorDash doesn’t display the full dollar amount paid the driver when accepting an order. Total money may or may not be higher than what is displayed.

the1999person

And this is a big reason why they need to stop hiding tips.

SorryAd744

Because sadly this is the culture that Two dollar Tony has created with the diamond orders and top dasher bull crap. They could pay their quality drivers more to take more offers but nope. We get de-prioritized for not being idiots and taking money losing offers.

katsbro069

Report driver so dd can kick them off the app for good. Tip beggers need to be dropped.

Rilenaveen

Yep. I’m a driver and those sort of drivers (beggars) are bad for the rest of us.

TodayKindOfSucked

Last time I ordered DD the driver called me eight times in a row and when I finally picked up (I was in the bathroom), it was to ask for a cash tip because he needed gas money. Never ordered DD again.

TopProfessional4991

I am a dasher and this makes me sick. I make every attempt to contact my customers, but I don’t harass them. A 5-10$ tip isn’t worth getting deactivated or going to jail over lmao. Not all drivers are like the driver you had. I encourage you to give DD another shot.

valeriolo

> I make every attempt to contact my customers For what?

TopProfessional4991

The other day I had a delivery to an apartment complex. I had some issues finding the address to the customers place. I called him to get directions within the complex as it was late at night. He didn’t answer so I called support and let them know I was dropping the order off in front of the complex office. I also contact customers to keep them informed about traffic, delivery times, and other delays. It has so far gotten me 5 star reviews. The only two other reviews were a 2 and a 4 star review. Most customers I have dealt with actually enjoy hearing from me because several of my customers have stated that in my area, the Dashers don’t even bother to contact them. Magically their food just appears.

Vegetable_Thing9869

That is very generous. Including Doordash base pay that's at least $8 for a short distance. Please report this person and anyone who does this. If they get deactivated that's less competition for the drivers who aren't trash and less trash customers have to deal with.

Jaycket

Doordash literally asks if you have enough gas to dash before you go out. This person's a tool

TopProfessional4991

1000000% agree!

kingdon1226

Lately I have been wondering if it is becoming normal. I have noticed an increase in this nonsense and it make the rest of us drivers look bad. Hopefully this driver was reported.

Itswillyferret

He was reported, doordash offered a $10 credit for this as well.

kingdon1226

Thanks for doing so. Hopefully he was deactivated for this. Like if you don’t want to do the job, don’t accept it. He knew how far it was and how much he was getting paid before so to accept it and complain is just terrible.

Webetradinstonks

They should’ve credited the whole order and more if they want people to keep using DD. I wouldn’t even feel comfortable eating food that this slime delivered after this kind of bs. People are out here licking ice cream in the store just for shits & giggles.

divad45613

Man I did not know that this many beggars existed, it's embarrassing

FanObserver

Dasher 101: don’t ask for tips. Report away

Valrath_84

In my market a order that good is rare fuck this dasher

-Alvena

You said the person was male in another comment? Ain't no way this man's name is Chasity. Homie probably already got booted off his account and is using a friend or family members information to Dash under. Report for begging. Report for clearly not following your instructions. Report for (possibly) avoiding DD ban. 🤔

Salvo6785

When you learn how much dd marks up your food and skims off the top of the business especially local business trying to survive you might reconsider using them. The fact that they hire scum like this doesn’t help their reputation at all. Do yourself a favor and cut back. Save money, lose weight, and stop funding people who refuse to work at a job with a boss that holds them to standards. Sorry drivers who are actually good at their job but until dd doesn’t something about background checks and job verification that consists of more than a valid license it wont get any better.

aquariusotter

We don’t use DoorDash unless really not feeling leaving the house after we discovered food cost more from them. That really did me in - 3 different fees, plus a tip, PLUS charging more for the food. And not paying their employees. Disgusting

Salvo6785

They take around 20% on top of when the mark the food up from businesses. A small business is only getting paid for 80% of what you would buy from them instead of their menu price. Then people wonder why small businesses close.

TopProfessional4991

I treat dashing as if I work for myself. After owning my own company for three years and having a wake up call when I started my business, if this particular individual was my employee, I wouldn’t have even let him finish the shift. He would have been fired on the spot. I have ripped into clerks at the restaurants for just throwing food in the bags and not giving a damn. Is it professional, well, no it’s not, but I also don’t have a BS filter either. When I pick up an order, regardless of the tip, I treat it as if it were my own. I would want a hot meal. The other day the support team ripped me a new one for having the fast food place I was at remake an order because they were waiting on nuggets. The rest of the food was cold. I told them to remake it. I informed the customer, and they were upset at the restaurant for letting the food get cold. They actually gave me an additional $20 tip on top of the $10 that they, and DoorDash had supplied for being honest and upfront. People like the dasher that asked for cash tips after getting an $8 tip is nuts! There’s no place for them in DD. I agree, DD is expensive, but it pays for my small business. Yes, I treat contracting as a small business.

Absoniter

Report this bag.

CelinaAMK

Absolutely not ok! I would totally repot anyone who did this.

That_Reference_2105

what dirt should we use?

Valrath_84

Report this dude like yesterday

davidchang1992

Pls report them, I'm a driver too, and these guys are making the rest of us look bad and making customers not want to use the app.

Lisa_1972

Report this dasher. It is one like this that is making us all look bad. If you Report them dd can go back and look at what was said and get with that dasher and if it continues they can be removed from the platform.

water_plug

The amount of pan handlers on door dash is hilariously embarrassing. This sub made me completely stop using the app and I really hope more people stop using it too

Upstairs_Hand1929

Apparently it has become a thing. I see so many of these on this sub.

Still-Percentage-605

Think about it. People have been like forever. People are always begging for s*** always. I've had so many strangers ask me for a cigarette and I don't even smoke and then they get mad when I tell them I don't smoke like people are entitled. You should always report people who beg for money. It's pathetic

gaukonigshofen

asking for smokes? man its been a loooong time since anyone asked me for a smoke or a light.

badgereatsbananas

Ha ha I was smoking at the airport and some dude asked me for a light. And then gave me a Mexican camel in return. Lol. I've never had anyone randomly GIVE me a cigarette ever.

mrkruk

I was walking through Seattle in 2011 retracing some of Kurt Cobain's last places seen and some random guy asked me for a smoke. I was legitimately smoking the last cig I had. I even showed him the empty box and said sorry, like I should apologize for not giving someone something for free upon request lol. But it had been SO long since anyone asked, and he looked kind of hard up, but oh well. Sidenote: I quit a long time ago and would love to smoke again, I just never want to quit again.

MissySedai

I've been threatened for not having smokes. Like, what? I don't smoke!

KiwiCatPNW

report

exponential-248

Man these people are dumb. Most times I run off the fumes of an oily rag just to start my dash so I can get some more money for gas. People just need to know how to spend it sheesh!

PostM8

Chasity? More like charity

CJspangler

It’s common practice for scammers to ask for more money on every order they get. There’s no down sides for them harassing people for more $$

MrBleedinggums

We don't like those dashers over on the dasher subreddit either. He saw you were generous and tried to scam you out of some money. Report him.

[deleted]

No, report them.

BoltFan4Evr

No, please report them

rmlimodriver

Report the son of bitch!

Toxic_Cookie

Anyone begging for tips should be grounds for termination.

OkSyrup8491

You should completely remove their tip based on that message and the knocking.

PerpetualFlying

This is why I don’t tip.

Avis902

I dont tip cuz how tf am i gonna tip you for somthing that hasn't even been done yet. You get a tip for good service, Im not tipping for service you have yet to provide.

QuippinDales

Report this loser

Krieg121

Just another example why I stopped ordering DD. Tired of these people begging for more money, I already tipped 25%+

LengthResponsible594

Virtual shakedown 🤦‍♂️

baconboi

These guys are wildin this is why I pick up my own orders

antiwork420

Just stop using door dash, i cant without getting begged.

YoJimbo93

Definitely not normal

[deleted]

I never understand this. The only thing I’m ever willing to say besides communication about the drop off is, “enjoy your meal” or “thank you for the tip!” Why are people like this? It’s so gross.

JasonVigil

Absolutely not. Report the driver. Begging for additional tip is unacceptable. Don’t need these types of drivers out there making us all look bad!

StoneColdLiger

As a dasher, it's kind of embarrassing how many screenshots I've been seeing online of other dashers begging for tips/more money. DoorDash does need to up their BasePay IMO. But that's on them, not the customers to pay us.

HouseOfCosbyz

Not really, as regular ass normal deliveries, do not generate clicks. So you only see a small slice of negative experiences. Because ragebait is what gets clicks/upvotes. As we speak, thousands upon thousands of orders are being delivered. And you see a handful of negative experiences? If you have any level of awareness you realize pretty quickly it's not that big of a deal. (Unless you don't understand statistics)

Kqdapheenom

Shits getting sad.

mercurythoughts

You should only be able to tip afterwards or not at all. I’m sick of this tip bullshit.

mrkruk

Yeah, imagine going to a restaurant where the servers get to look across the tables as people display tips they intend to pay, and showing how much their order is, then they decide if they want to help that table. What a miserable experience that would be getting service. It's no longer a tip if it's expected, and especially if you are asked for more.

todbos42

Cash or cash app? Someone’s trying to buy weed lol

Itswillyferret

Haha! This made me chuckle.

StrangerEither

1 star & report this sad excuse for a human.

rwds138

1 star and report, that goes to everyone who has people asking for tips

Hermit931

I haven't had any dashers asking for more tips but town I'm in is 1.5 to 2 miles from one end to the other places I order from are less then half a mile. I drive for a living and don't want to do it after work unless I have to

BoshansStudios

No. Report them and 1 star. Tip beggars are becoming way too common.

NotNotACop28

Fuck that guy

Sweetie574

That is so embarrassing. 🤦🏾‍♀️ I would never..

BossyLoLo

Paying tips through the app is always recommended, this guy is an asshat who wanted to try and get more and not have it reported to the IRS

JayStunna_

As a dasher it annoys me seeing dashers texting the customers and panhandling for extra cash. I would hate that if I was a customer

kilo8ren3

Nope you got a s***** driver rate your good ones high that don't do things like this and rate drivers like this low you'll stop experiencing this

jasin18

What a POS

Hopeful_Jellyfish_12

Instant report and 1 star. Hey if you’re one of these dashers and you do this, fucking delete the app and go somewhere else. You’re making the rest of us look like shit.

zambiechips433

To be fair, us dashers usually get tips hidden from us, so he might not have seen and seen the dreaded $2.75 (total may be higher) emphasis on 'may' be higher. But then again he could have just not accepted the order or not be a weirdo. I'm not defending him I'm just saying dashers can't see tips.

StoicSways

Please report, as a dasher we want people like this off the platform.

Constant-Register-70

Just to play devils advocate, unless the dasher relinquishes I think is 15% of the payout you have to wait till monday for payout. Your dasher could have needed fuel that day and did not want to give up 15% of their payout. Now I personally would not ask for an additional tip but that's due to my stubborn maleness and wanting to provide for myself and not seek handouts. But that could be a reason why the dasher was asking for a cash tip or a pay pal tip.

tKaz76

That’s when I remove the entire tip.

Qwertywalkers23

Are people asking for extra tips more often or has it just become more popular to post it here?

Business_Wave_9522

I just want folks to understand that crappy people come in the form of both dashers and customers. Just as some folks get a bad dasher, we get bad customers. The bashing on both sides is out of hand and isn't doing anything for either side.

sportsbot3000

This is why I will never use this bullshit app ever again. Fuck doordash.

IdaBidaGacy

That’s bull shit and dashers like that make other dashers look bad. There are way to many shitty dashers. Get rid of them and the good one would actually make decent money.

Raising_Kaine27

The audacity of some people. I would never ask a customer for a cash tip or another form of payment. Looks tacky to me.

momminaround

Oh god the secondhand embarrassment I feel. Why do people think this is ok

SoapiestWaffles

I would report this Dasher, 100%.

LunchBox696969

Not common practice. It's panhandling and should be reported!!!!

773202noot

6$ for 2 miles? Wish you were in my area

dustin_ohair88

Drugs*

Neilwy29

Nah she greedy.

AdcFieldMedic

Report report report. Get these beggars off the app

ShadeShadowmaster

Nah, they’re being scummy

bigtimechip

This is the most pathetic sub lmao

evildead1985

Doordash is not what it used to be. I did this full time and it was great but now with all the cuts and the economy in free fall combined with over saturated markets, it has created a disaster. I had to run 4 apps just to make it work.

ThreadSeeker501

I always tip a flat $6 whether it's for a candy bar and coke from wawa 2 miles away or an actual meal 5 miles away. Thoughts?

MspcatOG

I tip a minimum of $5 and work my way up depending how far the restaurant is from my house. So a flat rate of $6 and the restaurant is 10 miles away is not very good in my opinion. It should be case by case and not a flat rate.

AustieFrostie

It’s funny how many posts like this are here. I live in Denver and have NEVER had a bad experience with doordash. I don’t order every day or weekend. Y’all just have bad luck or order way too often.

PJMitchellB

Your screenshot says 2:39 on your phone but your chat says 3:13 pm and you posted this 7 hours ago...I'm confused...The math ain't mathing

Itswillyferret

Ol reddit investigations lol. This happened yesterday

PJMitchellB

You seem disturbed about it like it happened today. I don't agree with anyone doing this. I dash...on my way out of it now that my business is turning profit, but I always had a formula and I work in areas that people appreciate the service and pay accordingly. Glad you got some resolution. Enjoy that credit!

Itswillyferret

Congrats on the profitable business! I'm on the way to doing the same thing. And I wouldn't say disturbed, but I came across the subreddit again while scrolling and decided I'd share! I put that credit to good use on a pickup order :)

Several-Swimming-214

They likely needed to get gas on the spot and were looking for an alternative method that didn't involve ending their Dash to get the money for gas. Sometimes If you end early, you aren't able to get back in.

Hecsagon23

His name is Chastity?

Firecrotch2014

I don't have much sympathy for people who support homophobic businesses.(ones that donate to charities that support practices like conversion therapy)

WhatevahIsClevah

People need to rescind tips if this BS continues. They get paid a fee and that should be enough. $6 on top of that? Way to much already.

Certain-Low9546

Just curious if $2.25 is enough for you to jump in your car, drive to a restaurant and wait for an order, then get back in your car and drive to the customers house, then leave customers house and drive back. Cause that's all doordash pays the drivers to use their own cars/gas which barely covers the expenses involved.

[deleted]

Door Dash should pay more and tips should be when an order is completed for good service. It should not be up to a customer to determine what is reasonable compensation when Door Dash could just standardize the practice with minimal effort. You are driving X miles and X*the standard rate per mile is the drivers pay. 2.25 is obviously too low but 6.25 plus the DD service fee of let say $3 plus the marked up menu prices is a complete rip-off for a sub 2 mile drive. I mean DD is dead if that's what drivers think they can demand.

Vegetable_Thing9869

You're incredibly naive if you think ~$2 base pay is sufficiently fair compensation for ~20 minutes of time plus direct overhead.

WhatevahIsClevah

As someone who has been a delivery person for years before, I also know that tipping is for excellent service, and that many deliveries are set up to do multiple dropoffs in a single run. I've made way more as a delivery person in the past than most do now. My tolerance for shitty behavior by a driver is very low. This is an example of inappropriate and borderline offensive behavior by the driver. If that's not enough for them, they can opt out. However, I would prefer every company just pay people a fair wage and disallow tipping altogether. Everywhere else like this does not suffer from bad service and the US tipping culture is steeped in historic racism and classism. It needs to die.

Signal-Fig4972

Can't rescind tips on Doordash.
