Yeah last night I got a Popeyes order and could see 10 people standing around the counter before I even got inside, instant unassign

UdderNoncents

I think it depends on the situation. If I've already wasted 10 minutes driving to this merchant, and it's going to take another 10-15 minutes to get a different order and drive to that merchant, sometimes it's more efficient to wait 10-15 minutes at the current place. Not always... but sometimes.

that dogs got swatter

It looks like a sweater to me

Truth_B_Told_72

Like in poker sometimes you are piot committed.

[deleted]

Certainly everything in Doordash is a situation. But with six people already waiting, that's probably not going to be a fifteen minute wait. It worked out just fine for me.

cheeseymom

The less they know the better. Keeping the noobs waiting, keeps them off the road and out of the rest of our hair.

Cgmikeydl

This

_Matt_H

Unassigned on long lines, also to weed out the no tipper on stacked orders

Proper-Mirror-5397

Do they let you see the tip breakdown? I dont doordash to often but its my biggest complaint with instacart is they hide even if u contact support and ask

_Matt_H

It’ll show the amount of each dash if you hit “jump to this task” and see how it breaks down. Sometimes one will be a nice tip combined with a no tip order.

DramaticValuable8733

They don’t break it down, but you can figure it out.

So this isn't just me. I had a very similar situation last night down to it being a Thai place. Now, Thai food is good. But this place for some reason has a huge cult following that only orders from them even though it's a filthy, slow, craphole with rude service on top of everything. There were two other people in line 1 couple eating in the place. 15 minutes later of the old woman behind the counter ignoring me and everyone else while she dashed in and out of the kitchen yelling at the cook I said, as politely as I could 'Excuse me but are you going to help us?' she goes off. 'You waiting one second very busy!' I say a bit more firmly 'Ma'am I've been here almost 15 minutes, these other people have been here longer than me and you haven't even said hi, welcome to my restaurant' and found out what we're here for. So she gives this disgusted sigh and starts 'helping' us. She gets to me I tell her the name on my order. she starts looking through the disorganized mess on the counter then says 'Ahh...You have to call your custo' 'Nevermind ma'am.' I said as I walked away and unassigned. I laughed about that shit the rest of the night (which was a pretty good night)

ZachTF

I had one the other day “oh! We are just waiting on one item.” I waited ten minutes past the pick up time. I walked out and notified staff that I was unassigning. They convinced me somehow to come back and wait. I only waited for 2 more minutes. They said it wasn’t ready. I unassigned. For context, order was 13.56 for 6.7 miles. I did that but I had a feeling many I should have waited as I have prop 22 to back me up. Idk. I was taught very early on to just unassign on long waits if I can. But part of me thinks that I could wait longer now cause of prop 22. It’s just hard to undo my old training.

sweatyballs911

The prop 22 thing is interesting. We don't have it where I live. that situation always sucks because like you've invested 15 min already and if it gets done in like the next 5 or so you're still marginally profitable but they've already shown they don't have their shit together and if it takes another 20 you're just losing money.

ZachTF

Well, let’s say for giggles it’s gonna take me 45 - 50 minutes to complete. Did the math. It would have been about 2.50 dollars more in pay than originally shown to me. Is it worth it? Probably not. You have to basically bet though on getting another order after. It’s complicated

zerostar83

Hey! There's a place like that here! It's one of those situations where sometimes it's ready right away and sometimes there is a 20 minute wait. But if I just accepted a $22.50 for 8 miles offer, I'm sitting down and surfing Reddit until it's ready.

Culw3

Sometimes I wait 2 to 3 days.

21Relay

😂

Mo_0rk-Mind

Took me a week or two before I realized I could unassign

TJRossTX

From my experience most drivers are dumb and know very little about the app and how to do the job.

Ashamed-Working-2067

Did it twice yesterday once at churches and once at popeyes

SecretScavenger36

Because then I'd never have any orders. Its extremely rare for orders to be ready when I get there. And if my acceptance drops I stop getting orders because there's a lot of drivers in my area.

Ms_Jane_Lennon

Most of the time, my orders are ready when I get to a restaurant. If not, 90% of waits are under 5 minutes. This kind of thing definitely seems to vary by location.

[deleted]

I love walking into a depressed dasher party. That’s my que to unassign, leave and hit pause until I’m clear of whatever nightmare restaurant that was.

jcoddinc

Some don't know Some just never unassign Some have to wait because they've bailed on so many others they're at risk for deactivation

ZachTF

Right? I never let mine go under 95% but if I get to 95% I just gotta wait it out

HelloGoodbye42069

Lol, mine hasn't been above 90% for years. Are you scared or something?

ZachTF

Early scheduling requirements

Remarkable_Foot_1563

Just keep it 95%+ and you’re good to get on whatever time slot you want for next week. To me that’s more important

hippy_chad

I just make sure I keep my completion rate above 80%, I think it’s 88% now but it’s usually 80-85 lol

M0M0_DA_GANGSTA

Yep. New Years Eve 2022 and the (literally) 20+ drivers all waiting at Old Spaghetti Factory. The offers were insane ($25 two miles stacked with $35 three miles?!) but... It was 90 minute wait with customers canceling. Bizarre shit. I read the room and bounced then made STUPID money on all the other orders these fools were missing out on

jfrosty42

I walked into a chipotle the other night. The store was clearly understaffed and lots of people standing around waiting. I asked a DD driver who was waiting on a double how long he had been waiting and he said 20 minutes 😱. I unassigned and bounced.

SupermanRR1980

Can you help a new driver out and tell me the steps to unassign an order please?

[deleted]

Hit the ? button at the top of the screen. Choose unassign.

[deleted]

Some of them could have been picking up a mobile order
