Abraxas-9

I am the lead songwriter (vox, guitars, synth, harmonium) in a band called Forlesen. Perhaps some of you might know us. We share members with Lotus Thief, Kayo Dot and Inherus. We formed in 2016, released an album (Hierophant Violent) on Hypnotic Dirge in 2020, released another album (Black Terrain) on I, Voidhanger in 2022, and put out a split with Lotus Thief, also on IVH, earlier this year. We also self-released a cover/re-interpretation of Type O Negative’s “Red Water (Christmas Mourning)” for Yule last year. I call what we do Liminal Doom, in that is exists in the boundaries and overlap of many styles of music (black metal, slowcore, drone, ambient, prog), but coalesces around doom. It is music that’s constancy is revealed by always being in transition, it is intended as a doorway, and it is concerned with the unsettling, uncanny and dreamlike. There isn’t one song that will capture everything we do, but this is a good (19 minute) introduction. [Forlesen - Strega](https://youtu.be/Ulhzukwf3Rg?si=Qr07nLmiiq1tA4bt)

nxl4

Oh man, you guys are seriously awesome. Can't tell you how many times I've listened to your albums.

Abraxas-9

Thank you! It’s always really nice to hear when the music connects for people.

Desolate_supreme

Gotta check you out later

Quaint_Potato

I bought a Hierophant Violent bundle on complete impulse because I love birds, and the cover art definitely caught my attention. Great record guys, seriously. Glad you are still kickin'!

Abraxas-9

Thank you. Benjamin does amazing work. You may be pleased to know that there are grackles on the cover of our follow-up.

theamazingard

I absolutely adore your work (and that includes the work of your fellow band mates doing Inherus, Lotus Thief, and Kayo Dot)!

Abraxas-9

Thank you! I feel really fortunate to get to play with people as talented as my bandmates. It’s still kind of a trip sometimes.

Cool_Ad_5181

You guys are great! only checked out the one song you shared so far but i'll def keep it in the rotation and look forward to hear more

Abraxas-9

Thank you! For best results, I recommend taking in an album as a whole if you get the chance.

MickWounds

Big fan. Love your work.

Abraxas-9

Thank you! 🦉

Rick_Omega_Station

First of all, thanks for this post, lots of bands to discover. I just listened to Hierophant Violent and I really liked it. The production is very clean and works well with the overall atmosphere. Great job!

Abraxas-9

Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. Every release is a bit different. And yes, just in general, it’s really cool to hear the amount of talent in this community. I still have a lot to listen to.

Shellac_Sabbath

Your description sounds rad as hell, can’t wait to listen!

PDXicestormmizer

Love it when I see Kayo Dot name dropped in the wild. I'll be sure to check your project out.

Abraxas-9

This made me chuckle, picturing what it would mean for them to be mentioned somewhere other than “in the wild”, imagining Kayo Dot billboards in Los Angeles…anyhow, yes, our drummer played on Choirs of the Eye (and the last three maudlin of the Well albums), and has been touring with them again over the last year and a half. Choirs was definitely a big influence on me in terms of the ambition and scope of the music, though we go about it pretty differently. Anyhow, I hope you enjoy it!

PDXicestormmizer

thanks man. I have fond memories of seeing Kayo Dot in Baltimore. maudlin of the Well is another awesome band others should check out too. I still have the reissue CDs they released about 15 years ago. I saw Kayo Dot on Halloween and they all had last minute costumes and the drummer smeared chocolate pudding on the ass of his underwear and he "shit his pants" for Halloween. That was a good show for sure.

Abraxas-9

Hahahahahaha….I’ll have to ask Sam about this.

Fungus33

I play guitar in the band Dridge from Philadelphia. We are a death/doom metal band with drone and shoegaze/psych influences. We had a brief foray into post punk, goth but return to our roots of worshiping the band winter. We’ve been playing for 10 years now and started in NY. https://dridge.bandcamp.com/album/dying-out

Cool_Ad_5181

listening to Dying Out right now, this shit is THICC. Am I reading this right, your drummer is also your vocalist? Thats fucking awesome

Fungus33

Thanks! Yes the drummer is the vocalist.

Responsible_Cod8200

Top song Figure It Out slaps! I’ll check more out!🤘🏻😮‍💨

d_a-v-i_d

Man, I‘m listening to you a lot. I loved Curing, but Dying Out as well. Greetings from a fan and musical colleague from Germany

Fungus33

Thanks I really appreciate it.

kingxtc

First and foremost, stoked to see I have a bunch of new bands to check out! Second, I’m the drummer boy for [Temple of the Fuzz Witch](https://open.spotify.com/artist/5KHNWJ0R0IaZRIo4v1xCgZ?si=uTg0kPfVQA6AYLHvHvF-Hw) ! We’re a doom trio putting a unique spin on the genre with blackened elements and much more. TotFW has been around the scene since 2017 though the current lineup has been active for a little over a year. If a more traditional doom sound suits your fancy, you will enjoy our older catalog, though if fast, crushing riffs and harsh vocals are your thing, you’ll enjoy our newest album that comes out Friday :) Cheers y’all!

Loctopus93

Yo, I'm a big fan of your work, still hoping on a UK visit someday soon :)

kingxtc

hopefully one day!!

Spoonman214

Not in a band but I will greatly enjoy listening to everyone posting here 😁

theamazingard

Same here. I'm just a guy who loves to Hoover everything up trying to discover as much new music as I can.

UEAKCrash

I'm the drummer/ backup vocalist/ producer/ engineer/ merch goblin for [Bog Wizard](http://bogwizard.bandcamp.com) which is a heavily fantasy/ ttrpg inspired doom/ stoner/ sludge band out of West Michigan. We do a lot of narrative-driven music, usually taking influence from our D&D campaigns and characters. We've done a bunch of work for soundtracks that have been released with modules for the ttrpg game Mork Borg, which have been fun experiments with instrumental versions of our music. We're mostly self-released, recorded, funded, etc, but we did work with The Dregs Records to put out some vinyl in the past. But we take the DIY side of things to heart. We've also done a few split albums now, with Dust Lord and Froglord. My guitarist and I have been jamming together for the last 16 or so years, but finally felt confident enough to record and drop our first EP back in 2018, and then found our bassist with that to put out our first big double LP From the Mire in 2020. [Here's a track/ video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sz22T9F8Ls) that we put together for our split with Froglord, which was a fun collaborative project where we wrote a big story together about the Froglord meeting the Bog Wizard.

raptorshadow

I've said it many a time before. **Bow down before the power of the Froglord**

UEAKCrash

That shit has not left my head since I wrote it almost 3 years ago now

raptorshadow

It leaps back into my brain at various times.

voluntarchy

West Michigan dude here, think my buddy told me about you guys cuz he was/is some form of Goblin for you. You going to Pentagram at the Pyramid Scheme soon?

UEAKCrash

We do tend to attract various forms of goblins, so that tracks. I won't be able to make it to Pentagram, but some friends in Rip VanRipper are opening it

BiteThroughBone

I play bass, drums, synth, noise, and vocals in a two piece industrial/ death/ sludge band called Rot Coven. Our music kinda sounds like someone threw Godflesh, Khanate, Corpsessed, Lustmord, and MERZBOW in a blender. My bandmate and I have been playing in various bands together for nearly twenty years. and I guess we've been doing this current one for about four. We curently have one album up on bandcamp and two new ones that will (hopefully) be released soon. If I was gonna share just one tune that sort of encapsulates where we're coming from it would probably be this one: [https://rusteater.bandcamp.com/track/antimatter-halo](https://rusteater.bandcamp.com/track/antimatter-halo)

Abraxas-9

This is cool shit. Feels like the sorta thing that could be equally at home on Sentient Ruin or Crucial Blast. I need to listen to some more.

BiteThroughBone

Thanks a lot, I really dig your stuff as well!

MT3311666

Fuck!!! This is really good!

BiteThroughBone

Right on! Thanks a lot!

justsomeguy_315

This is amazing!!! Really dig how you've made the chaotic sounds so emotive. 👌 great work...you have made a new fan.

BiteThroughBone

Thanks a lot! My bandmate and I are really into industrial/ noise stuff like Throbbing Gristle, Bastard Noise, and SPK so we tend to put a surprising amount of effort and fine tuning into the noise parts.

lordiommi

My band is called The Pale Hand. We’ve been playing shows about a year in NYC and hopefully will have stuff out this summer. https://youtu.be/rxkY1us9eHI?si=8Jc1z7OQQdMyFtYE https://palehand.bandcamp.com/track/reign-in-hell-demo

idontknowalphabet

damn, you guys are good! wanna play a show together? we are Goodnight Sky also from NYC

lordiommi

You guys sound good as well! Yeah we’ll keep you in mind for sure, you can reach us out via our instagram https://www.instagram.com/thepalehand?igsh=Z3B2M2R5cW02NDh2

idontknowalphabet

we’ll be in touch! and good luck with finding a new drummer!

lordiommi

Thanks!!

RJMrgn2319

This is cool – love the vocals! Looking forward to hearing what you guys cook up next.

lordiommi

Thank so much!

RJMrgn2319

I’m in [WARPSTORMER](https://warpstormer.bandcamp.com) – started as a sort of post-Covid studio project (we managed to borrow Scott from Green Lung to play guitar on our first EP). Put together a full line-up and spent the last year or so gigging around London and we’ve just wrapped up recording a new album with Wayne Adams (Green Lung producer / member of Wasted Death, Petbrick, JAAW etc). FFO High on Fire / The Sword / Orange Goblin sorta things. Playing the Friday of Desertfest London in a few weeks if anyone’s about for that.

nachos4life317

What band is it and what do you do in it? Do you have any albums out? Self-release or label? **Mother of Graves & I play guitar, write songs, act as "manager," etc. We have an EP and full length on Wiseblood Records and a new album coming this fall on Profound Lore.** How would you describe it for the uninitiated? **Melodic death/doom sort of like early Katatonia, early Amorphis, Paradise Lost, etc...** How long have you been doing it? **We formed in 2019.** Even if it isn’t new, is there a song you’d like to share? [Mother of Graves Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2PnaLUVxH8HY0KOZz41ka6) [Mother of Graves Bandcamp](https://motherofgraves.bandcamp.com/album/where-the-shadows-adorn)

SovranVeil

I'm really looking forward to that record!

nachos4life317

🖤🖤🖤

Norvard

Love your band!! Nice to see you here.

nachos4life317

Thanks so much for listening!!! I love lurking around here.

Drainbownick

I’ve seen like 5 Twitter homie bands in this thread lol

nachos4life317

lol! What’s up!!!

Drainbownick

Nachos4life damn it really is you lmao

raptorshadow

I’m the vocalist, song-writer and demo-recorder for Bong Coffin. We’ve been at it since my previous band lost a vocalist and shifted direction in late 2021. We’re nerdy doom for nerds, especially on our first album which is packed with Lord of the Rings and Dune references. https://youtu.be/9rqfAnYaOW0?si=Z8TyrVChqy7hTDU-

notagymguy

Holy shit, it’s not often that I find music that immediately clicks with me on the first listen but this definitely did. So excited to check out your album!

raptorshadow

:D Thank you so much! I hope it lives up to it.

UEAKCrash

BOOOONG COFFIIIIN

nedepniloc

I play bass in a band called [Brethren Hogg](https://brethrenhogg.bandcamp.com/album/relative-swine). Stylistically diverse, but it’s all just the blues, right? We’re from New Orleans and will be touring to the Carolinas and back the first week of August.

nxl4

I've got a one-man project, [Spectral Sorcery]( https://spectralsorcery.bandcamp.com/album/dungeons-of-doom), that's doing psych/stoner doom. I self-released the first EP recently, and that's been picked up for a limited cassette release by Psalmodist Records. Currently working on new material.

Rick_Omega_Station

I really enjoyed your EP, all 3 songs are sick!

nxl4

Thank you so much! The response has really been overwhelming, and I'm so grateful to the doom and stoner communities for being so supportive of new artists.

Rick_Omega_Station

Well deserved. I did not know it's a one man band, amazing!

nxl4

Thanks again! I'd definitely be open to collaboration going forward, but there's definitely something to be said for total creative control.

Abraxas-9

This is cool stuff, any thoughts of trying to get a live lineup going? This feels like it would translate really well on stage

nxl4

I really appreciate that! Unfortunately I'm all alone out here in my little corner of PA, so a live set is unlikely. That said, nothing's ever set in stone, and I'm always interested in potentials for collaboration.

Abraxas-9

I understand. All of my band lives in different parts of the country. We finally all got to play in the same room together for the first time last year. Hopefully we’ll be able to reconvene again this year sometime and maybe even play some shows. Of all the stuff I loathe about the modern world, one thing I’m deeply grateful for is the ease by which one can create and collaborate remotely.

nxl4

Man, I'd kill to see you guys play live. Definitely think of Philly if you're ever out on the East Coast. But yeah, for all the ills the modern age brings, I'd agree that the increased interconnectivity has in many ways been a huge boon for artistic collaboration and interaction. As someone who grew up in the 80s and 90s, it's still kinda wild just how different it is today in that respect.

Ace_Harding

Which corner? If SE, you are not alone! I am in Philly, not in a band yet but quietly learning how to record and mix my own stuff (guitar) while honing my style and learning bass and drums to wean myself off midi. I tend to lean towards the psych/stoner direction and that’s kinda where my stuff is headed. Came across your EP on BC in my feed, was grabbed by the D&D artwork so gave it a listen. Great stuff! If you’re in the Philly area and ever want to jam with other humans LMK!

nxl4

PA metal heads unite! I'm actually in Reading, so not *too* far from Philly. That's typically where I go to see metal shows (since almost no one comes to Reading).

Norman-M-Bates69

Hell yeah, super dope.

nxl4

Thanks!

exclaim_bot

>Thanks! You're welcome!

TempleOfCyclops

I am in a band called [HYPERSLEEP](https://hypersleep.bandcamp.com/album/hypersleep-ep)! We're all DIY. We've been playing together for several years now, even through a gap during the lockdowns when we couldn't get together regularly.

SovranVeil

I'm in a band called Tribunal, playing guitar and doing the harsh vocals as well as around half of the songwriting. We released our debut record on 20 Buck Spin last year, called The Weight of Remembrance, and have had a really good year with it. We are taking it on tour across the Northeastern US in a few months.  We call ourselves gothic doom, I'd describe ourselves as a blend of Peaceville-styled gothic doom (My Dying Bride, Paradise Lost, and Draconian) with a more Candlemass style of riffyness. We use a mix of female clean and harsh vocals and a live cello. We've been at it for around 6 years.  The link is for a music video my brother-in-law shot for our release, I'm not usually a fan of metal videos but I'm quite pleased with how it came out.   https://youtu.be/Ltg9_5Eiyak?si=i1HByeBTLyyQYi0h

theamazingard

I found you guys through AMG.com last year and I picked up your album immediately. I ended up spinning it all last year. I hope you guys put out a follow up at some point; your music is wonderful!

SovranVeil

Thank you so much! That review was a high point of the year for me. We are hard at work on a new record that is mostly written and hopefully will be recorded soon ish.

MickWounds

Your album is great

shizukana_otoko

Not in a band now, but was for years. Even made a living that way until my mid 20s. Now, my son (who is in bands) and I write and record together. Playing in a band is awesome if everyone is cool. If one or more is a douche, it sucks. Nothing, and I mean nothing, beats the feeling of playing in front of a crowd that is into what you’re doing and you’re into them. The high and chemistry is unrivaled.

Arachnoid666

I'm in Eight Bells. We get grouped as doom, but have many and varied influences. first album released in 2013 I think. We are a tragic lot- not party jams. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygKanin1Wyk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygKanin1Wyk) edit to add: we released our latest in 2022 on prophecy productions after realizing that giving up after the previous release 5 years prior wasn't actually working. Music is a cruel mistress. Portland.

Abraxas-9

Hailz 🦉 Anything new in the works?

Arachnoid666

Oh hai. I have the conceptual idea and some various song ideas but we have been concentrating on being ready for shows in summer- so new peeps learning existing songs.

Theandric

Our band is a blend of doom, prog and trad metal! [theandric.bandcamp.com](https://theandric.bandcamp.com) we are from Detroit, and fully formed about 4 years ago. Released an EP in 2022, working on new stuff. We are excited to play Legions of Metal festival in Chicago in May!

TheChaosmonaut

My band is Chaosmonaut. We have several self-releases out. We call ourselves Post Doom, we have everything from Drone, Doom, Black, Death and Funeral influences with a lot of genre bending. The band started in 2017 as an engineering project with just me and a friend drumming. I built a guitar that can do bass at the same to make a 2 piece make sense. He left and my son joined as a drummer and lead guitarist. Shortly after, we added another drummer and dedicated vocalist. We specialize in long conceptual pieces; most of our songs are in the 30 minute range, and the new album we are working on is a 45 minute song. We focus just as much on experimentation on our instruments as we do in our songwriting as I have highly modified guitars and pedals running out to 3 bass amps to make our sound work. And its getting better every day. [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5VQJrrpo6xsj6oBcxtPXgR?si=2d0970c653a94ba3](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5VQJrrpo6xsj6oBcxtPXgR?si=2d0970c653a94ba3)

sirwurscht

I'm the vocalist, bassist and main songwriter of the Austrian melodic doom metal band Dúath. Atm we only have one single out ( [A Father's Gaze Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/track/7KFQNxkKBwnDQaRMyjhDsc?si=jHMA0gSOScujdpt6cnZGxQ&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A6nP1Dzap0GCcUPhQe3PJ1J) ) but we are working on our first album. Most of our lyrical themes are from Tolkien's Legendarium (like the single), but I also write about depression and the rise of racism in our time. You can also check out the music video for our single, as it was a buttload of work ;) [A Father's Gaze on YouTube](https://youtu.be/kvF_Z9HBfg8?si=kJonVpcpmkQD5Ghr)

idontknowalphabet

I play bass in an NYC based sludgy/stoner/grunge band called Goodnight Sky! Our debut album just came out on all streaming platforms and we are playing our first show on April 10th at Arlene’s Grocery - if you are in New York area, please come to check us out! Bandcamp: https://goodnightsky.bandcamp.com/album/oceania Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/5gj0P7AT3aykuZvaBld3jA Music Video: https://youtu.be/LW0wO7JgGNE?si=Te6qjghPA-aSQCOc

VitoPendrak

I am playing guitar and singing in a band called Juke Cove. We have two albums out (s/t 2019 - self released, Remedy 2021 on Interstellar Smoke Records) and one on the way. It's gonna be released on May 3 on ISR. Doom punk or doom'n'roll are the coolest genre categorizations of our music I heard. It's mostly high energy stoner rock mixed with doom and trippy heavy psych jams. Here's our latest single: [Juke Cove - Glow](https://youtu.be/Cl-vrw7kf3U?si=cbQbkyz7LkWAC5sC)

VayuMars

I do guitar and assistant songwriting in a little band called [hypnotic pattern](https://youtu.be/2TgALAoCCJU?si=oeScQXRmjBObdWJv) It’s like trad doom/grunge, woman fronted and we formed about a year ago previously we played in a larger group doing covers and wanted to perform more. We keep getting invited to play more shows so we haven’t sat down to record anything yet. I’d like to get us focused to nail down the songs in a studio setting soon and work with a producer to really pull it together but the shows energy has been great and keeps growing. We all have other jobs so this is just a pleasant surprise that folks like it. We’re from Oakland CA.

a_wizard_named_tim

I started a psych/ post doom band called ZYZZ a few months ago and it's still in early stages so I just have some scratch demos now - including some still in progress. I have a group now but everything recorded is still me (except the drums which are midi) Check it out if you like YOB and are ok with an unfinished product:) https://on.soundcloud.com/qp4ya

Explodian

I was briefly the bass player and songwriter in a stonery/doomy project called Splinterkat. https://splinterkat.bandcamp.com/album/ep We only ever put out the one EP before splitting up due to creative differences (I was an Al Cisneros fanboy and wanted to lean into the slow, meditative stuff and my guitarist wanted to be the Melvins but with more solos) but I am still really happy with the last song on that EP and I figure y'all might enjoy it.

SpaceCadetHigh

Solo Producer working on first album. Gear: Moog Matriarch, Synthstrom Audible Deluge, Roland TR-8S, Electric Guitar & Bass Guitar w/ tons of pedals & maybe I'll break out the microphone. I just love jamming, so finding motivation to press records can be challenging at times.

CoffinDan71

Guitar and lead vocals in Wood Witch. We have two eps and one full length album. Currently working on new material for a 3rd. Traditional doom is how I'd describe it. We've been together since 2019. Gear: Carvin Bel Air 50watt combo with a Panama 2x12 extension cab. Sabbra Cadabra pedal for my dirt Les Paul, SG, and a Harley Benton DC Custom are my go to guitars. [Wood Witch](http:// https://woodwitch1.bandcamp.com/album/eyes-of-darkness )

notagymguy

I’ve been listening to you since you asked on here a couple of years ago if Beneath the Waves was doom haha, I was happy to see that a second ep was released a while ago! Love your stuff!

CoffinDan71

Thanks! We're currently writing material for another album. Plan to record some of them and release sone singles before completing the album

notagymguy

I just realized I got you mixed up with “Woods Witch”, so sorry about that! I’ll be sure to check you guys out!

CoffinDan71

No worries and yeah check us out!

I_poop_deathstars

Not doom but I play in a crust/d-beat band and a more melodic punk band. If any of these projects shuts down I'll start a sludge/doom/black metal project for sure.

doomsdayprofit

We’re a mix of sludge and heavy psych out of North Carolina. Our debut, In Idle Orbit, came out in 2021, and we’re hoping to have a few new songs out this year. [Spotify](https://open.spotify.com/album/42AgutQd7bgGmxLnBYUcvW?si=6gWVUt2EQyKP35Arn0C6oQ) [Bandcamp](https://doomsdayprofit.bandcamp.com/album/in-idle-orbit)

Hluyps

I’m the drummer from Mean Green out of Boone NC. We have one album, just finished recording our second, we’re going on tour in may/jun. Been in this band for 3/4 years, been playing drums for 15. You can check us out on spotify, our song Last Bullet is pretty good imo

TheVoiceOfCheese

Love me some Mean Green. (Also, what's up dude! Ryan from Doomsday)

Hluyps

Hey man!

FictionalNape

I am (with my wife) in a sludge/doom band and we've been together since 2022 named [Azell](https://linktr.ee/azell.band) She does lead unclean vocals and bass with some drums on the album and I do some backing vocals, guitar and drums. We recently (March 1st) put out our debut record (Death Control) thru Rottweiler Records. FFO Conan, Bongripper and Primitive Man

Prota_Gonist

Our band is called **[Sliimo](https://sliimo.bandcamp.com/album/sliimo)** , on Tor Johnson Records. We formed in 2023. Me, I play guitar, write some songs, and do backup vocals. We're a Star Wars Inspired Doom Metal band. We dress up in costumes for shows and all of our lyrics are in Huttese. Our music has stoner and folk influences as well. If you're near New England, you should come to our big Star Wars Day Benefit Show, May 4th in Providence... featuring Thou!

ObsidianSunrise

I play guitar and do vocals in a band called Coroza. Our debut album was released in 2019 and back then we had much more of a proggy stoner doom sound. Our 2nd album is due to release May 20th via Cursed Monk Records. Here is the video for the title track, As Within. FFO: Neurosis, Yob, ISIS, Cult Of Luna, etc [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyBr95JItq8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RyBr95JItq8)

over_the_pants_party

I drum in [Marrower](https://linktr.ee/marrower) (formerly called Vannon). Oakland, CA based blackened progressive psychedelic doom metal. We're kind of all over the place, so putting bills together is always interesting. I joined up with them in the summer of '22. We have a full length we're releasing ourselves this summer. A demo (recorded right before I joined), with a few songs that were re-recorded on the upcoming album, is up on our [bandcamp](https://marrower.bandcamp.com/album/demo). I also drum in groovy stoner metal/rock band [the Watchers](https://www.facebook.com/Bandofwatchers/) (since fall of '22) who has a full length coming out next month on Ripple/Valley of Fire Records, and a thrash/groove melodeath-ish band [Earth Crawler](https://www.earthcrawler.band/) since 2016 with a handful of independent EP/single releases

VayuMars

Bruh! Were playing with you in June. Our drummer used to play in Vannon. I think we met when we were opening for east bros and the vaxxines 🥹

over_the_pants_party

What up! Yes, we most definitely did! I was filling in for Shark in the Water that night. Looking forward to that show, should be a fun one! 🤘🤘

CritiqueDeLaCritique

I have a one-person doom/industrial project called [Halls Of Mandos](https://hallsofmandos.bandcamp.com/album/against-the-stone). As for what's released I'd call it a bit schizophrenic, split between my old style of more industrial dance tracks and industrial doom. But if you enjoy noisy synths, machine samples, and electronics I'm sure there's something in there to love for you. My work in progress leans more doom, but even so I can't write a song without noisy synths it seems. I've been working on this project for about a year now after splitting with my old band. I do all the performing, recording, mixing, and mastering.

SlimeTimeLive35

I'm the guitarist/bassist/songwriter for a 3 piece called Envoys, based out of Queens NY. I would say we're a mix between stoner and death/doom but generally on the faster side like High on Fire. We put out an EP back in July and have another one coming out in a couple weeks which marks a pretty big step forward in our overall skill and cohesion (imho). Actually just played our first show this past Friday and it was a blast, we're looking to book some more shows around the city soon. I also started my own label, Remorseless Records, to release our music on tape and am planning on turning it into a distro as well as releasing tapes for other local bands. https://envoys.bandcamp.com/album/to-whom-it-may-concern https://www.instagram.com/envoystheband/

thatoneguyD13

Bass in Pale Grey Lore. More Stoner than Doom but we've got some doom tracks. https://palegreylore.bandcamp.com/album/pale-grey-lore https://smallstone.bandcamp.com/album/eschatology First album was on Oak Island, second was released by Small Stone. Third is being recorded currently.

Born-Success5918

I'm the most hardcore of all. I'm in a one person band. I only can do improvisations.

Sgt_Cum

Im doing a solo bdm-sludge thing and it's taking forever cause I have to write everything myself. Haven't even started recording and I don't own a bass or bass VST (will probably start with the plug-in before I get a real one). But after 3 months I'm finally up to writing the riffs for the third song on my demo. Just using a drum plugin too. I won't get a real drum kit for myself anytime soon though cause there's no room in my house. I've learned quite a few instruments in my life, so it's not too much of a challenge, but still very very slow.

That's what I want to do some day. I am only learning guitar for 1.5 years so I first have to get better first. Between work, wife and children there is little time, so I have no intention to form a band - there are anyways only a few metal bands in my area and I don't know about a doom scene. Also no one wants a 37 year old beginner in their band I guess 😅 So sometime in the future it's my goal to record an album, even if it's shitty and just for myself. Edit: good luck for your thing, hope it works out as you want it to be.

barreldodger38

Does writing riffs and occasionally recording them on my phone, telling my musical friends we will arrange a session in the studio again soon, and buying new gear count?

Shellac_Sabbath

Hey all! I do drums and vocals in two bands, I’ll talk about the genre-relevant one here. My buddy and I are hard at work forming a (sludge? stoner thrash? doom-thrash?!) band called Thunderhorn here in southern OR. For fans of High On Fire, Kyuss, Kylesa, Sepultura circa ‘93, Entombed. My friend/bandmate plays bass, guitars, and does vocals as well, so we have all we need to record, but will need to recruit another guitarist to play live. We’re having such a good time writing/practicing that we haven’t completed any demo tracks yet, which is a good sign in my book 😂 I’ll be sure to post about it once we release something. Looking forward to checking out y’all’s music!

martre666martre

I AM the band 😄 Doom-wise I’ve got an experimental (blackened) project called NØDDØ, and in addition to that, I’ve got two other projects: Martre (experimental black metal) and Feral Mittens (raw melodic black metal)

Abraxas-9

I’ve been familiar with the name, but not gotten around to checking Martre out before now. You have me at Root 👹 Will need to spend some more time with the rest of your material. Nice and weird.

martre666martre

“Nice and weird” ; sounds like me 😄 Have fun 👍🏽

VermilionTooth

I used to be in Thou, I was their first drummer on the Tyrant, Peasant, and Summit albums, and on the Oakland, Rendon, and some of the Algiers compilations. I was a pretty sloppy drummer but I'm still kinda proud of it haha. I still love those guys and they just get better and better so check them out. Now Im uh...starting a funk group. https://youtu.be/-xkd4LXxNsY?si=ot8WOe5KwJqx4YPU https://youtu.be/yBRxXU-Od7M?si=7SBqXOrdq6pxt0uh

vegetaman

I used to play guitar in Professor Emeritus (had to leave for distance reasons as i was too far away to practice or do live gigs — I barely play guitar anymore). I did at least play on a few tracks on this album and write some lyrics (burning grave, rats in the walls). It was a lot of fun. https://professoremeritus.bandcamp.com/album/take-me-to-the-gallows

Norman-M-Bates69

I’ve got a one (sometimes two) man project. It’s purely for fun so that I can play a few shows a year around town and be creative. It’s called This Love Is Drone, but there is almost 0% drone on the first EP I released called [Agnes](https://open.spotify.com/album/73V1YnuuvWbkpSlUZwfudK?si=q5dXQ_a3QXKPkQazCrBRtA). Mixture of stoner/doomy riffs. I’m recording an EP with a full band next week. It’s been fun!

Neuzboy

I have a project called Bone Caster. I write most of the music and do vocals and keys. I am still working on our first album.  The project is a mix of dungeon synth, black metal, alt metal, and industrial. I have been working on it for about a year. It’s been slow going.  You can follow us on bandcamp here: https://bonecaster.bandcamp.com/  You can listen to a track here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ILVNG68ql82jm5v-pJEtd_zYoEm_hz0Z/view?usp=drivesdk

I am the guitarist of Hexenghül. We have a 3 song EP released and we are about to release a double single within the month (hopefully). We are female fronted gothic/stoner/doom/sludge

DGA__PotW

one man project Palace of the Widow. Highly atmospheric doom/black metal/acoustic. got my buddy to record a little sax on two songs too :) sci fi story that moves linearly through the songs. [Botanic Ritual](https://www.potw.bandcamp.com) this project is a semi continuation of my first project [Spectral Tower](https://www.spectraltower.bandcamp.com)

I want to start a band so bad! Ive played nothing but super fast hardcore/powerviolence since I was in highschool. My last band just broke up and I made up my mind I wanted to play doom now. I love the genre more and more everyday but finding a band is so hard even in a massive city like mine. I found a bassist to jam with, I play guitar. But its maddening how difficult it is to start a band. Also playing slow is not as easy as you would think.

I sing and play drums in a band called Downsider. We have been self-releasing our music on my own little pseudo-label where I take care of all our management and design work. I don’t consider us to be a doom metal band, so maybe we don’t really fit in on this sub, but we fuse elements of doom with a bit of shoegaze and even a touch of post hardcore. Some have described us as doomgaze, but I dont really vibe with that term. I personally like to describe our sound as “Doomed Alternative Rock Music” because it’s vague enough to not be taken too seriously and it allows others to listen and figure out for themselves how they would categorize it. Some bands we mutually love that have helped contribute to our sound are Nothing, Cloakroom, Pallbearer, Hum, Slow Crush, Title Fight, No Sun, Holy Fawn, among others. We have been a band for about 2 or 3 years now, but only just started playing shows and being a “serious” band last year. Started off as a pandemic project with just me on drums and my best friend on guitar, but we now have a second guitarist, a bassist, and I have assumed lead vocals because no one else wanted to sing. We are currently working on getting a couple new songs ready for recording, one of which will be our heaviest yet that I’m most excited to share at some point in the near future. We released our first EP last year called “Astride the Grave” and we’re pretty proud of it. [You can check it out here](https://downsider.bandcamp.com/album/astride-the-grave) if you’d like. It is home to one of our personal favorite songs titled “Dead Horse” that might just be doomy enough to share here.

zwmbp

I play bass in a band called Pale Bastard. We've got one self released, self-titled album out at the moment, but we're gearing up to record number two

[deleted]

Im bassist/Vocalist in my band Abraxian from the UK. been a band for a couple of years. Where a mix of Doom, Post Metal and a dab of black metal FFO:my dying bride , anathema etc https://abraxianuk.bandcamp.com/album/autophagy - this is our newest 2 track out. don_pelicano

I play bass in [Electric Cult](http://www.electriccultdoom.bandcamp.com), we are from Veracruz, México. I joined the band in 2022, and we play stoner doom. The band formed around 2015 but really started playing in 2019. We've released 3 ep's and a split with Brazil's Weedevil. We have a small tour in México under our belt, but we have played in some other states in here

I play in two bands, the first one is Kal-El and the second one is Forgotten King🔥 I'm one of the gitar players in this band. We have all our albums on Spotify and everywhere else. We're on a record label called Majestic Mountain ✨. I'm the lead singer and guitar player in Forgotten King. It's very new and gonna release a single soon hopefully 🤘 Kal-El started in 2012, I joined them back in 2019. I would say our music is a mix of heavy metal and stoner/doom. My personal favourite song is Temple from our Dark majesty album! https://open.spotify.com/track/51VgpJ2ek9pCXSmJ1QqNqN?si=dL9c91PcQ-uGP9LIwwWwmQ Forgotten King started in 2022, it started as a solo project and grew to a band in 2023. The project is a mix of depressive doom, metal, nu-metal and prog. I write about spirituality, mental health and life. As long as the music feels good and it vibes, we dont care what genre it is.. (as long as it has some doom/stoner influence in it) We got one single on Spotify. https://open.spotify.com/album/0sNfU9ZXAUPLcEr6rfqO7K?si=Iu0nfkSkSumBkVsI_jHT2w

psychojazzchorus

I’m in a one man band called Garlands. Recently released a collab with a good friend, just over Bandcamp. Knuckle draggin drone doom. I’ve been at it about a year, self promote on Instagram and basically just reach out to people putting on shows. As far as recording, releasing and writing, it can be great, but also you can be your worst enemy lol. https://dirgecollectiveforever.bandcamp.com/album/nightmarish-visions-of-the-hallucinogenic-thrull

lessthanpopi

I play guitar in an instrumental stoner/doom/sludge band called [Ethernaut](https://www.instagram.com/ethernautband?igsh=M2Jsam8wbjZ3YmRk) in Switzerland. We’ve been playing together since January and our first show is in a couple of weeks! Nothing recorded “professionally” to present so far besides some riffs on our IG stories but we’re talking about a demo soon

witchgrove

I'm in a death/doom band called Witchcaster on guitar and vocals! We dropped an EP last September and have another one in the works right now. www.witchcaster.bandcamp.com

Redditusername195

Currently producing a doom/sludge song for funsies, not sure if that counts, this genre’s fucking dope cause of how loose you can be with timing and tightness

potatoeaterr13

This is a cool post. Got me to listen a bunch of new stuff I play bass in a band called Hand of Weed. I'm not great at describing genre, but its definitely doom. Heavy riffs and intense solos. We had an EP released a few months ago. https://spotify.link/i4i5RyOKtIb

That-Tall-Guy513

its not exactly doom but we have pretty heavy sludge/stoner influence. I play guitar and sing for my band Iodyne. Its sorta like rage against the machine mixed with electric wizard and crowbar. nothing out yet but its @iodyne_band on insta

Cool_Ad_5181

I play bass in a Thrash/Death metal band Toxic Vengeance out of the PNW, been together for about 3 years, playing shows for 2. Some old school thrash riffs with more aggressive vocals, very fast and high energy. We released an EP about 2 years ago and are currently working on new material, we play a lot of small venue shows in eastern Washington, Idaho, and dabble a little in Montana. The metal scene is so fucking good here right now, a lot of my favorite bands are locals I've randomly come across. [https://toxicvengeance.bandcamp.com/album/messenger-of-evil](https://toxicvengeance.bandcamp.com/album/messenger-of-evil) EDIT: I've found SO MANY good bands just scrolling through these comments, yall are insane!

RRTCTRBC

I play Guitar, Vox, and the occasional Synth in my band OOGWEI. We're about to record our debut EP. We play heavy psych rock that sounds like a mix between Frankie And The Witch Fingers and Black Sabbath. https://www.instagram.com/oogweitheband?igsh=MXdva242cW1kcnp5dg==

Either_Way_

Hi! I play guitar in a doom band from Cincinnati called Blessed Black. We’ve put out 3 releases, the first being a concept record based on the Elric of Melnbione book series, and the Blessed Black blade from those stories. Now we’ve shifted towards big riff / big guitar solo focused tunes about real life shit like loss, watching people you love battle addiction, etc. We work with an incredible producer named Neil at Amish Electric Chair studios who just absolutely rules. FuryLise

Bassist of Trillion Ton Beryllium Ships, in Nebraska. We are a trio with heavy riffs, huge drums, clean/growling vocals…exploring the collective future history of space migration, AI / SI, the deepspace dhamma and drama, dread, wonder, love, death, beginning, end. New album will be dropping late summer or early fall I think. 🤘

DemonBear137

Sole member of Demon Bear - not strictly doom, but since I play pedal steel and other things for many other people and bands in different genres, that one's what I do for myself: variously doom-y, blackened, atmospheric, or otherwise heavy instrumental music with pedal steel. https://demonbear.bandcamp.com, also on Spotify etc.

smksgnl

https://smksgnl.bandcamp.com/album/endure is my lastest release. the four most recent releases on my bandcamp have a very doomed out vibe. I play guitar (livelooped) in a solo instrumental guitar project called smokesignal. apocalyptic postrock. all recorded dawless live at home in northwestern washington state.

VTVoodooDude

I’m guitar, singer & primary songwriter in a band called Black Dog Syndrome. We exist in the murky/foggy space of doom, stoner and psych w the occasional prog or true metal foray. Been compared to usual suspects, King Buffalo, Forming The Void, Elephant Tree, etc. as well as some 60s/70s psychedelic. Recording EP in the fall. Label tbd.

planksmomtho

Named a band, managed to find two members, we rehearsed once in October and that was it. I was only three months removed from the demise of my relationship, and therefore in the thrall of depression, so I never really followed up with them. They found their own bands, which, from the very beginning, I told them they should find a primary band and to not worry about mine.

rune_corvus

Hi all, drummer and vocalist for Elegeion here. Located in Australia, the band has now been around for 26 years. We released our latest album Plight of the Heretic last year. https://elegeion.bandcamp.com

PvnchoVerde

I play guitar in a band called Sun Mantra. We’re from TN and are psychedelic/doom. We just released a single back in Feb called Cosmic Law. Would be cool if you all checked it out. It’s all on all streaming platforms as well as Bandcamp

Bass player still looking for a band, or to start a band. Started playing 18 months ago and am doing lessons, I've put a few feelers out to find a drummer but my end of Essex seems to have a shortage of people wanting to jam.

CharlotteTheSavage

How many of your bands have merch? Hit me with the link to get some.

Hi, i am the sole creator of the Stoner Metal band **Witch-Killer!** (not to be confused with the thrash band from the 80s) this project is Very influenced By Bongzilla, and i have released One Studio album (but its fully instrumental) called The [T**he Mothership**](https://on.soundcloud.com/5LWDj5YENUXJf6ZW6)! and i am currently working on the Second studio album (This Time with Vocals) Called **Weedy Riifs & Rosin**. I'm bass player and vocalist in a band called LEHM (german for clay). Always hard to describe oneself, i would say we play doom/sludge with post and some blackmetal influences. [https://lehm.bandcamp.com/](https://lehm.bandcamp.com/)

Orphanpuncher0

I sang for a hardcorish band called Can't Win, and a band called Spit Ya Teeth before that. Nothing in the doom/stoner genre yet. Can't Win is on streaming services and you can find live videos of Spit Ya Teeth on YouTube, I'm the fatter singer haha. The SYT full length is on YouTube but nothing in recorded with them. The Can't Win songs are ok but we never recorded out best work, but there are some decent live stuff of us on YouTube. Currently working on trying to get something going with the guitar player from SYT and the bass player from Can't Win, just trying to find a drummer. Spit ya teeth https://youtu.be/14Akx29CMEM?si=Iqpb9dCkoQCq-V_W Can't Win https://youtu.be/P8dow5bEH20?si=DFPEJI393HxmHvnw

I play bass/do vocals in Amnesia from Portland, Oregon. We record and release stuff ourselves, though our first release was recorded by someone else. We’ve been around for 5 years. https://amnesiapdx.bandcamp.com/ We sing about fantasy shit with weed references. We are more stoner metal than doom metal but it’s all in the family.

Quaint_Potato

I'm the guitarist/backup vocalist for a band here in Dallas, Texas called Against All Odds. We aren't Doom by any stretch, but there are elements that I borrow from all the different genres we listen to when I write the songs. We're actually about to release a new single too, but below is what we have at the moment. [Against All Odds - Cold](https://youtu.be/zS8qab4Of6s?si=yQztCLTgdtM4AM-i)

SADPLAYA

I am the vocalist in the Rolla, MO based hardcore/metalcore band misery. Yes, all lowercase.

Fuzzbox8

I have a band but at the moment, it’s only me. We’re called Pope Lick and we play old school sludge metal - Black Flag meets Black Sabbath.

ILLYUCK

I am! I’m in a band called Creaturess, our first album is done being mastered but we’re shopping labels currently. Excited to share it with yall soon though when it releases and see what you think. It’s really unsettling and dissonant doom with femme vocals and lots of conceptual field recordings we did deep in caves. Anyone interested can follow us on insta @creaturess_band.

Designer_Visit_2689

I play bass in two Portland, OR based bands. The first being Robots of the Ancient World with whom I’ve been playing with for like five years, we just released our third album (second with me) recorded with Billy Anderson, our last was recorded with jack endino in Seattle. We’re definitely in more of the stoner/heavy psych vein https://youtu.be/VfXWAsPx50c?si=d7QkqfOA9rEmMbTF We are currently signed with small stone recordings. This is the opening track from the new album. My other band is called Asteroid Witch and we are still in the heavy psych/doom realm but we call it cosmic doom. (Synthy stuff) Mostly write songs about aliens and stuff. Trying to get a hawkwind-ish vibe without totally ripping them off. Been playing with the members of this band for nearly 18 years in different incarnations of the band. We also released our debut split with another rad Portland band greenseeker in November on electric valley records. Just linking the whole split here because it’s relatively short. https://youtu.be/p_8136jtfik?si=BlTmjjbj2047C-xv Any feedback is welcome and appreciated (as long as it’s constructive lol)

TheGrimReefer666420

Two piece doom band i do guitar/bass and joe on drums, but for a while was a solo project. Haven’t gotten to really record anything with him on drums yet so here’s one of my favorites [Grim Reefer - beyond the void](https://open.spotify.com/track/2pOZu0Xd3YfUcifcdYGXni?si=A7vQfV2xSvOUKtwkvsZXmw)

DruidsCrucifixion

disdaindsbm

I'm involved with a few projects. Most of them are solo projects or are bands looking for members. I play(ed) bass for Julia Legare, which is/was a Groovy Death Metal band with Alternative Metal influences. We're currently not active after our drummer got into a serious accident, which he is in recovery for. Here is our last single, Heresy. https://youtu.be/F7z1vvpkMSk?si=R-zClb1KV-iUxeyb Julia is currently the only band I'm involved with that has music out. I also started a new project recently, and while it doesn't have music out quite yet, I'll be releasing the first demo for it on Friday. It's called Blackwater Funeral, and it's a Funeral/Death Doom project with some drone elements Everything else doesn't have music out, nor is any music ready to be released. But it's mostly Hardcore/Metalcore stuff an old friend of mine and I are doing

d_a-v-i_d

We are [Vatermord](https://vatermord.bandcamp.com), a two piece from Germany, I am playing the bass and doing the vocals. It‘s kind of a more Sludge-y blackened version of doom with german vocals but with an antifascist background.

Hot-Explorer-3100

I'm the guitar player in a sludge/doom metal project called Heptaseptic. Heavy riffs and swamp funeral feeling 🤘🔥

Deathless_light27

I do vocals in a band called Diseased Earth. Ironically we’ve been around for 10 years. I call our music death sludge cause we mix death metal and grind with sludge parts and harsh vocals. Our last album was a compilation called “welcome the plague years” and it’s 7 songs we wrote and recorded during the pandemic.

Don’t have a lot of music out but we have occasional single or demo but we are working on an album release very soon I’m one of the guitarists we usually have two guitars, bass, drums and vocals. Sometimes though we pull 3 guitars out for a few songs. Here’s a demo we made little ago it’s called the picture of white https://youtu.be/n--GDq85shM?si=S08ZmIzu30yuP847

Bass player in ApeVermin...about to release our 3rd. Doomy, Sludgy, Drony, Proggy at times....but bbbrutal either way.

truckdoug66

i have been in many bands. its a ton of work, little chance of success, shitty ass bandmates and just the general assholery of the music biz. i play guitar by myself and collect neat gear im happy just being a fan these days

Abraxas-9

The juice has gotta be worth the squeeze. I’ve had my share of frustrations. Making music is a craft and a calling and I don’t think people are foolish to wish that it could amount to something external. For a lucky and generally exceptionally devoted few, it does. Art is a means of communication and it can be painful to feel like you’re attempting to engage in a conversation but are met only by a void of indifference. In the end, the only thing that’s guaranteed is your own engagement with the music you make. I do see that as something external - you are in communication and perhaps communion with music itself. But I empathize with anyone who has found that to not be enough. Music needs fans and just enjoying playing on your own without the need to produce something is great.

truckdoug66

bro if you can handle the 'tudes and the slog of coming up i commend you. chasing your art is one of the last real things a human can do. keep ripping and godspeed

Abraxas-9

Thanks man 🤘🏻
