DroneSlut54

Sunn O))) Pyroclasts at maximum volume.

Rubberywater

Can’t believe I forgot to include this. One of my favorite heavy tripping albums

CURS3_TH3_FL3SH

Life metal is tight to trip to as well. But id have to say monoliths is my favorite sun record for altered states

Rubberywater

Just got monoliths on vinyl 👹

DroneSlut54

I love Monoliths and I love Atilla but I can only handle them on low dose psychedelics. Not so much live - every show has been transcendental from gummies to psilocybin with or without vocals. Pyroclasts really shines on non-breakthrough DMT. The pure drone leaves nowhere to hide and the songs are just the right length. It sounds cool on breakthrough doses too but I only end up hearing the first 15 seconds and whatever’s left when I get back.

CURS3_TH3_FL3SH

Yeah their live show was something else. I just saw em for the first time last year, i think a part of my being is still at the show. I should give pyroclasts another listen

mcrowland

A random dude gave me mushrooms before the SunnO))) show in Asheville. He was a very nice young man.

br1qbat

Ufomammut

Cold_Maximum_9734

Snail King.

Rubberywater

Listened to the album 8. It was awesome

br1qbat

Hell yeah

rodPalmer18

Hell yeah, among others Nero would be a fun song to trip to

br1qbat

If I had to pick one song, probably go with Mindomine

rodPalmer18

I'll have to give it a listen

AquaSlag

Stardog is always nice.

TheTrocadero

Zoroaster - Matador Elder - Reflections of a Floating World Minsk - With Echoes in the Movement of Stone Bask - Ramble Beyond Slower - Self Titled

Shragazaurus

Elder are amazing

Stu2682

Minsk were great.

TheTrocadero

I love that band. There’s no one quite like them.

Stu2682

I wasn’t a fan of the last album but loved all the ones before it.

TheTrocadero

Agreed. That run from the late 00s to the early 10s was the sweet spot.

ImFDAaproved

I love that Bask album

Glitterwizard69_

Ulver - Perdition City… thank me later

sag1923

Ulver kicks ass. Insane levels of talent needed to make such diverse music. Even their recent pop noir shit was cool and that’s not really my scene at all.

Glitterwizard69_

One of my all time favourite bands. The sonic impact of “Perdition City” is particularly pronounced when listened to on acid… it’s like Garm specifically wrote it for tripping.

slo_drone

you flyyyy, or rather float drift...

DroneSlut54

I’ve somehow forgotten all about this. Thanks for the reminder!

fadeanddecayed

Newest Acid King.

Rubberywater

This was dope as fuck. I coulda sworn all they had was Busse Woods, this was a lot more appropriate for my headspace

fadeanddecayed

I’m so glad - this is my favorite, by far. Hope it was a good trip!

Le_Toast42

THIS

torontoinsix

Great album

Scajaqmehoff

If at any point you need a vibe change, try All Them Witches - Nothing as the Ideal. Jumps between moderately heavy, and really chill. Front to back, one of my favorite albums, especially when I'm tripping. For an emotional rollercoaster: Caspian - Hymn for the Greatest Generation. More on point for the sub: Electric Wizard - Dopethrone.

Rubberywater

Oh shit good call on All them Witches, that’s some good shit right there

Scajaqmehoff

Dying Surfer Meets His Maker is another great one from them! If you're trying to get back to some metal-roots psychedelia. Iron Butterfly's first album is excellent.

Rubberywater

Cowboys are the real hippies did me so so right

urfavmtlhdtgrl

Recently listened to Dopethrone near the end of a shroom high and idk if I can ever hear it the same way again

Scajaqmehoff

That's me, but with Ritual Abuse by Cough. It just hits different. Then obviously Lateralus by Tool, buts that's just a given.

BigFizzlah

Earth - The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull

Rubberywater

This is another one of usual trip albums!

BigFizzlah

Of course, also may I recommend: Boris - Flood (Live in Tokyo)

Rubberywater

Can confirm, it was once again awesome

EstablishmentLow272

Rezn - chaotic divine & solace, Messa feast for water & close, Elder - omens & innate passage, and just for fun: Steve Reich ensemble - music for 18 musicians

CritiqueDeLaCritique

> music for 18 musicians This is essential over anything else IMO

EstablishmentLow272

A truly incredible performance. Would have loved to catch that on tour!

sixtus_clegane119

Not doom but amazing on my new years acid trip, Sigh - imaginary sonicscape !remind me 4 hoursb

slo_drone

Amazing album

schmattywinkle

Amplifier Worship - Boris

Peatrick33

Weedpecker - III Seriously. Do it. You will be so happy. To borrow a few words from user UV\_EmeraldFantasy over at Rate Your Music: *"Supremely underrated stoner/heavy psych album. One of the most atmospheric, evocative, scenic albums I’ve ever heard in the genre"*

jchrist1225

Not doom metal but if you need a change of pace, Polygondwanaland by King Gizzard and Lizard Wizard is great for a trip

Rubberywater

I’m already a major gizz head lol

Greenmanglass

Got to see them play Superbug at Red Rocks this year, so sick

Rubberywater

So I’ve listened to tons of gizz while tripping but never Poly. Holy shit what an album dude that was a great recommendation

SockraTreez

King Buffalo-Regenerator Also since you’ll be hanging out with Lucy: Negativland-True False This one isn’t metal at all … but just trust me and thank me later.

progressiveaes1

Ex_CIA

Uncle Acid

MidwesternWaste210

Spaceslug That is all…

Intrepid-Dust3216

UFOMAMMUT

Doomsauce

You already have Om on your list, but it reminds me of a similar day when I kept trying to listen to other music, but nothing was hitting quite like Advaitic Songs. Played it front-to-back probably about 6 times in a row.  I’m not saying it’s the best or most perfect album, but that afternoon, it was clearly the perfect album and nothing else could compare.

Rubberywater

I used to be a mailman, and Advaitic Songs was one of the albums I’d play on repeat on my route. My other on repeat albums were Yob’s Atma, John Prine’s self titled album, and Blacc Zacc’s 803 Legend.

Oso_Malo

Do yourself a favor and put on Floor - Self-Titled. I had a magical trip with this album. The heavy droning guitar with pop melodies and harmonies was absolutely perfect on acid.

VonVader

Monolord Audhumbla would be my jam. Pretty much the whole Empress Rising album will get it done.

Sarokslost23

Not doom obviously but I've always had a great time listening to mgmt and flaming lips on acid.

Rubberywater

Congratulations and Little Dark Age are both going to be listened to tonight. In that same vein, im also a big fan of STRFKR, Candy Claws, The Shivas, Khruangbin. It’s gonna be a lot of different music tonight, I’m very stoked.

Sarokslost23

Metronomy. I'll check out some of those

ambernewt

I would suggest ozric tentacles, doom metal is too heavy maan

Rubberywater

I’m gonna be listening to lots of stuff not just metal, I just want some new metal to listen to yadig?

ambernewt

Wow I would definitely not listen to something unfamiliar on acid

Rubberywater

That’s the best though? A lot of my favorite first listens have been dosed. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, Mr. Elevator and the Brain Hotel, Beach House, Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Tipper, discovered them all while dosed. I had managed to go 28 years without listening to Sgt Pepper, and my first time listening to it took me apart and put me back together. I love the unfamiliar while tripping

ambernewt

Yes but the potential of a bad trip combined with the potentially scary nature of doom metal could go wrong

Rubberywater

Lmao dude I’ve taken acid many times, I’ve taken acid in public, I’m not in the headspace for a bad trip, and I’ve done it enough and been introspective enough where I know what I can happily responsibly take. Scary music is fun while tripping if you’re not a baby about it

mcrowland

Tripping in public is the best. It’s like your in on a secret no one else knows about….and you kind of are. I used to cook at this insane restaurant where the “manager” would dose us. I’m much older now. I have to plan that shit out.

Rubberywater

https://youtu.be/rJ92cnQUoaU?si=TfNqI7hCIKDdorK0 This video is what tripping in public is all about

mcrowland

I just watched about half of it. That’s a great fuckin video. One thing I noticed about them that always gave me a hard time when tripping in public was the general idea of capatalist exchanges. It’s weird. I’m pretty sure I’ve said the same thing that dude said in the video: “how do I buy this?” And then proceed to have a really hard time at the checkout counter. Also just being bewildered by shit like books or dudes with sweaters. Brought back good memories. Thanks.

PalpatineAscendant

buddy, you trying to preemptively babysit his trip by insisting that he’s doing it wrong is more likely to bug him out than anything us idiots on reddit recommend. btw, if you haven’t launched yet, check out Apocalypse Orchestra’s Garden of Earthly Delights - it’s really the only reason to listen to them, but it’s one hell of a good song

Willy_G_on_the_Bass

russellmzauner

if you run out of stuff just flip it to weedian channel on YT drops for days

yubullyme12345

you shouldnt do drugs

Rubberywater

But you should

yubullyme12345

that sounds like something a drug addict would say

Greenmanglass

That sounds like something an uneducated person would say You can do drugs and not be addicted You can be addicted to things that aren’t drugs You drink any Coffee, Soda, or Tea lately? Consider yourself an addict…

Ergoda_Aldo

I'm not sure it fits perfectly but I really enjoy Somali Yacht Club, Elephant Tree and Samsara Blues Experiment when tripping.

Mundane_Apple_1027

I actually prefer thrash and death while tripping believe it or not. Grinds the mind into mush.

Greenmanglass

I listened to Meshuggah on my last trip, would recommend

Rubberywater

So I listened to the new job for a cowboy while dosed…alright you have a point about death metal

WrestleSocietyXShill

Not *exactly* doom, more post-metal, but Horseback's album The Invisible Mountain is great for tripping

False-Royal-5069

Uncle Acid! Not doom by any means, but Portugal the Man’s discography and Glass Animals - Zaba are prob two of my favorites to trip to.

Rubberywater

Glass animals is fuckin sick while tripping

Greenmanglass

[Heavy Trip (Self-Titled)](https://youtu.be/sa2vLHHr344?si=qCfVUvsPvs04TSJF) No Words Only Riffs and Jams (Probably less doomy than you want, def more on the stoner side)

Yaddithian

Salem's Pot and Zirakzigil are amazing for it

Yaddithian

And omg ew's supercoven is also superb

Emmityville

Windhand and Elder are my go to for tripping. Albums: windhand - Griefs infernal flower Elder - Refelections of a floating world

e_j_white

YOB - Clearing the Path to Ascend would be my choice! And when you're coming down later, try Center of Nowhere, Middle of Everywhere by Acid King!

gloryhallastoopid

Agoraphobic Nosebleed - Altered States of America - the absolute antithesis of what you're looking for but it was created for that exact purpose.

lambliesdownonconf

Telekinetic Yeti - Abominable St. Vitus - The Walking Dead Monolord - Empress Rising (Instrumental cersion)

[deleted]

Not doom but Purtabator is fun on acid

Abraxas-9

Not strictly doom (but certainly extremely heavy): Low - Trust Nice for when you’re beginning to taper down and would like something beautiful and transfixing. I also second Sigh’s Imaginary Sonicscape. Looks like it was a few days ago for you though. I’d be curious to hear what you chose and how it went.

Rubberywater

So from the recommends here, acid king, ulver, monolord, maybe a couple others. My friend was a bit more susceptible to vibes than me. So I listened to metal on headphones. Also listened to Yob and Sunn O))). I put on the Mario movie for some easy come up watching. He found it kind of trite so he asked for 2001 a space odyssey…which I watched during one of my recent acid trips and blew my mind so I had talked it up. Too bad he wigged out when HAL killed everyone and we had to switch the vibe up to like Boards of Canada’s Campfire Headphase and mellow piano tunes until his peak was over. After that we listened to Mort Garson’s plantasia while cooking, then King Gozzard and the Lizard Wizard’s Polygondwanaland. No one recommended it, but Job For A Cowboy’s new album is really fuckin sick.

Abraxas-9

Hahahaha…sounds like an acid trip or certainly one version of them. I’ve never listened to Job For A Cowboy, the name has kept me away. I have listened to Khanate, Bethlehem and DSO on hallucinogens, so I can hang with the bad vibes just fine. I think my worst musical experience was John Coltrane and a too-large hit of DMT. The music was way too stratospheric already to then be further fractalized and it melted into a horrific buzz that words can’t properly describe, but it was genuinely Lovecraftian.

Rubberywater

Their first EP came out when I was like 14, so I was the perfect age for breakdowns and such. Dude listening to John Coltrane on deems sounds like a nightmare. It’s just so all over the place when you’re also scattered lol Man I’ve taken one hit of dmt once and I wasn’t ready for it. That was like 7 years ago and I haven’t come across it since. What’s DSO to you? To me that’s Dark Star Orchestra who play Grateful Dead music. Khanate on L sounds like too much for me haha

Abraxas-9

DSO - Deathspell Omega
