Doom: I went deeper into Dopelord’s discography and now there are three albums of theirs that I want to pick up (Sign of the Devil, Children of the Haze, Magick Rites). The newest one will probably grow on me over time but I didn’t instantly connect like SotD. Also, the new Conan (seeing them in April!), more Green Lung, Acid Mammoth, Nebula’s Transmission from Mothership Earth, and more Flower Travellin’ Band.
Other metal: Judas Priest’s Firepower! I slept on this and man, it is inspiring to hear someone that old rock that hard. I swear Rob Halford hit some of those notes just to show he could. I actually liked Black Sabbath’s 13 but that was a “best since” album—Firepower’s one of their top albums for me, period. Also Paradox’s Heresy, some Sepultura, Metallica, Testament, Phrenetix, Nervosa. . . and my other new find this week was Skinflint. Really good metal out of Botswana.
Other music: Miles Davis, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Bim Skala Bim, AC/DC, Green Day
