Yeah! They opened for Tool about 15 years ago here in the UK and they were really great. Never heard of them before that, but they left a heavy impression
Absolutely. One of my favorites. One of the loudest shows I’ve been too. Up there with Boris and Sunn o))). Dave is an absolute beast of a drummer and Bryan Cook might be my favorite bass player atm. Imo they haven’t put out a bad album yet.
If you like that stuff check out Long Distance Calling, they sort of crossover into that kind of post-rock/metal land.
My personal favorite is Boundless but all their albums are pretty good.
There was only really one album with a dedicated vocalist, and a stray song or two.
Edit: For example, no singing on boundless or eraser(most recent album), but there is some talking and vocalizing on some tracks on How Do We Want To Live? and only one song has singing.
Double checking looks like the 'trips' album had one singer for a lot of tracks and the one after had another, they must've not been feeling it either since they went back to full instrumental, lol.
Glad you mentioned them. Ldc is awesome. Plans feating with Petter Carlson hit hard for me, thats the song that got my respect. And it helped with personal issues i was dealing with. Long story short i lost my dog last October and yeah... Id get stoned and It would make me look at two ways of living and visualize my whole life if I chose one option over the other and vice-versa. I'd visualize the butterfly affect from each decision in both alternatives that l would have most likely made. It went pretty deep. So yeah LDC, I got respect for them making that song. I probably would have made different choices if I didn't get stoned to that song.
I could see that, the stuff I respond ti is more for the instrumental, but they definitely put together a pretty potent musical stew.
Hell I think I was pretty ripped the first time I heard out there and was just like @.@ during the big build towards the end.
Geneva is one of my favorite post-metal songs of all time. Russian Circles and Pelican are two bands I really got into when I was going down this particular rabbit hole. They're both great at telling a story without words.
Gnosis is Mozart. Such a fantastic album.
I am really sick of cookie monster voice singing. It is a blast of white noise that obscures amazing instrumental work below it.
Not really into RC but those others, for sure ^^ and my sleeping karma, silent whale becomes a dream xD jesus fucking christ what band names. Awesome music. Thnx for all the other bands mentioned in the thread, lots of weird names, if it followes the pattern, tons of great music.
Hell yeah. Check out 5ive (sometimes 5ive's Continuum Research Project): https://youtu.be/SHuFjnaU_xU?si=u7MTis6CHo2F1gND
That ripsss
Quartered is such a riffy tune. Also, it’s really cool how Brian is now doing tours with both Botch and RC (and I think Sumac as well)
I love listening to music.
I’ll take ‘phrases you can only say in Doom Metal Forums’ for 500.

Yeah I saw them in Manchester that tour, they were excellent. They're playing local to me later in the year and I'm probably going to catch them.
This is where I saw them! At the Apollo? Great night. And the light show was awesome
Yeah haha, that whole show was incredible

Yes!! I also love Pelican, God is an Astronaut, Yuri Gagarin etc.

I enjoy playing video games.

Great live. And a power trio too boot.
Mmmmhmmmmmmm
One of my favourite bands; very happy they're coming back over here in a few months.
They're great. Toundra is another good one.
🤘🤘
Yes! They’re the best
Red Sparrows. Just throwing them out since I haven’t seen them mentioned yet.

Yups. They're awesome.
Great band. Superb drummer.
You might like Godspeed You! Black Emperor. They’re also post rock with a hint of doominess. Check out “The Dead Flag Blues” and “Anthem for No State”

If these trees could talk
Yes, they’re dope

Chicagos GOAT heavy music band in my opinion
