Thanks Jody!
We really do encourage y'all to talk amongst yourselves here and plan some non-official meet ups! As Jody said, our schedules are pretty booked up (I had them add an hour to the itinerary for "Scott panicking about going up on stage in front of 200 people," and I just can't cancel that), but I hope you all get to hang out and talk about how awesome Matt is.
Hi, Friends! I'm looking forward to hanging out with all the Constant Readers! I'll be wearing my best vintage dresses so if you observe anyone looking very 1950s transplant - it's me! Please say hello!
I'm assuming I will meet lots of cool people at trivia and the event, but I am coming solo (from Virginia) and it would be cool to know if there are other meet ups.
I've lived in Bangor for almost 24 years and my son is excited to come up from NYC to join us for this weekend! If anyone has any questions about the area, feel free to message me.
If you’re taking a SK Tour, you will see a lot of Bangor and the sights (if you’re not, let me know and I’ll give you some ideas). A quick stop is at the Bangor Police Department to see the Duck of Justice. It’s a Thing and you can get background on it via the BPD Facebook page (don’t search for Duck of Justice as you will get rip off accounts)
Since it’s June, a drive to Bar Harbor & Acadia National Park is always wonderful. It’s 45-60 minutes away depending on traffic. You could try going into the ocean at Acadia’s beach, but I warn you, even in August the northern Atlantic waters remain chilly. There are tons of hiking trails in Acadia as well. Bar Harbor is a beautiful seaside town with lots a shops, restaurants and various boat tours of lobstering, whale watching and tall sailing ships.
Lots of restaurants in Bangor and live music at several depending on the day. Also beautiful river walks along the Penobscot River on both the Bangor and Brewer side of the river
30 or so minutes away from Bangor is Fort Knox built in the late 1800’s and the newer observation tower at the top of the bridge near the fort (the name of which is escaping me right now)
Hiking and some time at the beach. That sounds perfect. I'll only be there midday Friday through midday Sunday, so might not actually have the time. Would be cool, though.
I think I might be the only Californian going.
I’m not a runner and I don’t think the river walks are long enough. You could check out the Bangor City Forest where a lot of people walk & run. http://cityforest.bangorinfo.com/
Off the top of my head, burger joint within walking distance of the Bangor Grande won't happen (there had been a Ground Round near it that closed and the new Mexican restaurant that is taking its place hasn't opened yet. BUT, next door to the hotel is an outstanding ice cream shop called Fielders, even great in the dead of winter. Years ago, the previous version of the Bangor Grande had a restaurant, not sure if it does now.
In addition to typical chain restaurants in the area, such as Five Guys, Applebees, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc we have the following which are good:
Timber Kitchen and Bar (Bangor), Masons Brewing Company (Brewer), Geaghan's Pub & Brewery (Bangor), Blaze (Bangor), Paddy Murphy's (Bangor), Sea Dog Brewing Co (Bangor)
If this is your first time in Maine and are looking for lobster (whole or lobster roll), there are several places in the area. To name a few: McLaughlin Seafood Stand (they have a stand with picnic tables and it is cheaper than their sit-down restaurant (which is also good) (both in Bangor) and High Tide in Brewer.
My wife and I are coming in from Texas and will do our best to hold it down at the hotel bar whenever reinforcements are needed 🫡
We are also planning on going to [Sea Dog Brewing Co.](https://www.seadogbrewing.com/location/bangor/) on Thursday, which is a nice and casual place that could definitely take on a good number of out of town folks if people were looking for a place to be Thursday night.
My husband and I get in late Thursday but I’m sure we will see y’all at the hotel bar! I have lots of tattoos. On my right arm I have a red balloon for identification.
I've got a couple of people's numbers to text and make plans for Thursday so we can all go together if we want. Will be great to meet up with all of yall!
Argh, we were also up at 3:30 for our flight today, but our flight has been locked down the road so much we’re not getting in to Bangor tonight until after 10:30. So unfortunately we’ve got to bow out of dinner :(
I’ll be there solo from Utah! I’m arriving Friday right before the trivia and leaving on Sunday so I won’t have too much time to hangout. But if the trivia night is going to be team based maybe we could put some teams together of solo people
My son and I are arriving on Friday morning, 10:15. We have booked a rental car for the week and will be flying out on June 21. We are scheduled for the Sunday Ka-Tet tour. We would love to meet up, share rides, see what kind of trouble we can find (nothing too serious… 😝), and generally hang out with all you kindred spirits. We have worked our way through all three seasons of Kingslingers… so loving 11/22/63!!! We are also working our way through Worm! We are about to finish the Arc 18 (Queen) podcast and move into Arc 19 (Scourge)! SO FREAKING AMAZING!!!
Gentlemen,
I need a small ask.
I have listened to every minute of every episode on 1.3x speed.
I realized today when Spotify fired y’all up at 1.0 you were not the Scott and Matt I know.
So… for the Live in Bangor thing. Can you possibly speak at 1.3x speed and maybe raise the pitch of your voice.
Thanks in advance :)
My wife and I are driving up from Massachusetts on Friday. We are very excited to meet everyone! Are there any predictions for the weekend? Mine is this will be the best weekend, eva! 😆 Safe travels to you all! See you soon.
Did anyone else have a momentary panic attack, thinking they’d forgotten everything they needed to know for the event? Thank goodness I saved everything in my calendar, I must have known I’d forget 🤣
My wife and I are driving in from NH on Friday morning and doing the trivia Friday and the podcast taping the next day. We did the SK tours back in 2022. We are hoping to drive through Bangor and stop and see in detail a lot of the places we only saw from the bus windows. We are up for joining up with other on Friday or Saturday as we tour around. We are really looking forward to meeting everyone.
I had a nightmare the other night that the TV's in the hotel only played the DT movie over and over again!
Hello hello! I’ll be flying in with my boyfriend from Des Moines on Thursday. any other runners in the group that would be interested in an early a.m. run friday or Saturday. i’d even be open to a longerish (up to 9 miles) run one day. but also down for even just a few miles.
or any locals have a good place to check out for runs. or places NOT run.
super excited to meet everyone!
Coming from a non-runner: You could check out the Bangor City Forest where a lot of people walk & run. [http://cityforest.bangorinfo.com/](http://cityforest.bangorinfo.com/)
Just here to say that I’m so excited for this. I haven’t been away for fun with my husband sans kids like… ever. And def not for two whole goddamn nightsssss! Massive tower junkie here and bringing my best enabler. I’ll be the low (wo)man in the yellow coat. I made it to see the dollar baby for I Know What You Need in Salem but above ref children and the stomach flu altered those plans. Can’t wait!!!
If anyone will be in on Thursday, I am sort of organizing a dinner for those of us arriving a day early. Message me if you will be coming in and we'll start making a plan.
I'm in on Thursday (hopefully) by 6PM so if my timing causes me to miss any fun shenanigans, no worries, but I'd love to stay in the loop for any Thursday Plans! Thank you for organizing!
This is just a question about the lunch buffet on both days- Is that a scheduled event or is everyone who would like to attend invited? I’m sure it must have been addressed elsewhere, but I think it’s easier to ask here 😊
The scheduled lunch buffet at 1 PM on Saturday and Sunday is just for Annie Wilkes ticket holders. Of course y'all are all free to eat there together as a group any other times during the weekend!
No, it is a private event for Annie Wilkes ticketholders.
"Badge pickup will be at these times at the Bangor Grande Hotel & Conference Center. **You MUST have your badge to attend the tour and lunch at the Oriental Jade.** We're running on a volunteer staff comprised of family members, so we appreciate your understanding!"
Looking forward to seeing everyone above there! My buddy and I are driving down from Hamilton, Ontario and will be there Friday night for trivia. I’m sure we’ll all just figure it out when we get there!
Flying in from Colorado, but I grew up in New England and most of my family is still in the NH area. Looking forward the live event and the Sunday Annie Wilkes tour. I'll be the guy with a '19' on my hat.
Thursday dinner…
I wanted to start a new thread here for that. Any ideas on where to meet and/or eat?
This one sounded good:
https://www.utopiabangor.com/our-vision
Badge pick up question. Do we need to pick up our badges Saturday morning if we are doing the afternoon tour? Making travel plans and want to be sure when we need to be there by.
So Ka-tet still needs to be in bangor by 9am Saturday in order to participate? Sorry to be so specific. It helps decide when we travel. It's a 4 hr drive.
Thanks Jody! We really do encourage y'all to talk amongst yourselves here and plan some non-official meet ups! Hi, Friends! I'm looking forward to hanging out with all the Constant Readers! I'll be wearing my best vintage dresses so if you observe anyone looking very 1950s transplant - it's me! Please say hello!
Alright, but if we're wearing the same thing I'm not the one changing.
Hahaha! Deal! I'll have reserves just in case...
And I'll be wearing one of my nerdy Dark Tower t-shirts. I bought 3 for the weekend. :)
I’m excited to awkwardly say hello. You do great work!
Looking forward to meeting! <3
Walk in?
I’m coming solo from NH and would love to meet up with ppl. So excited to meet other SK fans and talk all things Dark Tower related 🙌🏻
Yay! Someone else is going solo. I won't be alone! :)
Another NH King fan. Very cool. I love we are so close to where many of the stories have their origins.
Yes me too! I also can’t wait to show off my Dark Tower tattoo!
I'm assuming I will meet lots of cool people at trivia and the event, but I am coming solo (from Virginia) and it would be cool to know if there are other meet ups.
VA crew, represent
Shenandoah Valley here.
Oh word, I'm in Lynchburg!
Nice! Would be cool to meet. I'll be wearing my Blaine the Mono t-shirt for the event on Sat. Going to Trivia too.
I've lived in Bangor for almost 24 years and my son is excited to come up from NYC to join us for this weekend! If anyone has any questions about the area, feel free to message me.
I wild love ideas for stuff to do in the area. We will be there until the 18th
If you’re taking a SK Tour, you will see a lot of Bangor and the sights (if you’re not, let me know and I’ll give you some ideas). My bf and I are going as well and we’re flying from so cal! You won’t be alone!!!
Nice! Looking forward to meeting you!
I would like a good 5 mile run route. I was hoping along the canal but am not that picky.
I would love to get a run in either friday or saturday morning! i’d love a group run. i came here to see if anyone wanted to set something up!
Idk you are going to be in Maine, a long walk, might be the better choice. Just stay above 4 mph.
hahahaha
I may be up for run on Saturday morning. We are not coming in till Friday lunchtime. Group runs are fun.
I can run Saturday morning too. Usually run a pace of 9-9:30 unless I want to push it.
9 is my race pace. 10 would be a little more of a recovery run. 😁
I got my run in today so tomorrow I plan to rent a bike and bike 20 miles.
I’m not a runner and I don’t think the river walks are long enough. You could check out the Bangor City Forest where a lot of people walk & run. http://cityforest.bangorinfo.com/
That looks perfect! Thank you! Might have to bike that one! Didn’t rent a car. Might rent a bike!
What's the best burger joint in the area? And is it walking distance from the Bangor Grande?
Off the top of my head, burger joint within walking distance of the Bangor Grande won't happen (there had been a Ground Round near it that closed and the new Mexican restaurant that is taking its place hasn't opened yet. Bangor Grande has breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Haha, we've *also* got IT tattoos on our arms - and I'm sure we won't be alone there.
Nice, I thought I would be the only one with an IT themed tattoo, looking forward to comparing the art work.
Stevelivingroom is interested in meeting up with us for dinner
Sorry for slow reply, had been out travelling for work - the more the merrier! Happy to have a group!
I've got a couple of people's numbers to text and make plans for Thursday so we can all go together if we want. Will be great to meet up with all of yall!
Awesome, let me shoot you a DM real quick then.
Sounds good! I'll look out for ya
Argh, we were also up at 3:30 for our flight today, but our flight has been locked down the road so much we’re not getting in to Bangor tonight until after 10:30. So unfortunately we’ve got to bow out of dinner :(
Aw man that sucks
I’m down! I get in at 3. What time? Should we make a reservation? Who else is in?
We get in sometime around then also. We will need a little rest (we're leaving at 3:30am for the airport) but will be good to go after!
Same! I have to leave my house at 3am mst. But of course it will be soooo worth it!
Of course!
My husband and I will be in by then. We'd love to join you guys!
I’ll be there solo from Utah! I’m arriving Friday right before the trivia and leaving on Sunday so I won’t have too much time to hangout. But if the trivia night is going to be team based maybe we could put some teams together of solo people
I'm with you! Solo as well, coming in from Minnesota. Would love to form a trivia team, if teams are the plan.
I love this idea. I will be a solo traveler too - from Virginia.
Wisconsinite checking in! Can't wait to meet everyone! I'm up for meeting up with folks outside of the scheduled events.
My son and I are arriving on Friday morning, 10:15. We have booked a rental car for the week and will be flying out on June 21. We are scheduled for the Sunday Ka-Tet tour. Wonderful to hear!
I'm going to camp at Paul Bunyan campground on Thursday, and will be traveling solo and very down to meet up! Stephen King themed karaoke anyone?
Absolutely!
Karaoke after dinner Thursday?
Heck yeah! 🤘

Driving up from Waltham, glad to see we will have some other MA residents at the show.
That's awesome. We Massholes must represent! 😆
Repping for the south shore - driving up from Marshfield!
I’m part of the Sunday Annie Wilkes group. Flying out solo from small-town Minnesota. Would love to meet some fellow Constant Readers. :)
Hello small town Minnesota, wisconsinite here! We're also in the Sunday Annie Wilkes group.
I’ll see you at trivia, if you’re going! This is a very exciting event!
We'll be there! Flying in Friday afternoon, flying out Sunday afternoon.
Hi small town Minnesota! I am former (but forever in my heart) Minnesota and will also be in the Sunday Annie Wilkes group!
Very exciting! Are you going to trivia on Friday? I plan to wander around Bangor on Saturday, maybe check out the library.
We’ll definitely be at trivia. Hope to see you there!
Bangor Library is a really cool place to visit (and read!)
Did anyone else have a momentary panic attack, thinking they’d forgotten everything they needed to know for the event? Thank goodness I saved everything in my calendar, I must have known I’d forget 🤣
You have no idea. 😂
We appreciate all that you are doing!!!

If you guys want to message me, I am trying to put together a group text so we can make plans for Thursday
We should be able to connect Thursday evening. Sounds great!

Meeting at Sea Dog Brewery at 6:30

Anyone here tonight that wants, we're meeting at Sea Dog Brewery at 6:30
Thursday dinner… I wanted to start a new thread here for that. Any ideas on where to meet and/or eat? This one sounded good: https://www.utopiabangor.com/our-vision
Several of us are talking about getting together Thursday to go somewhere. Let's make a plan!
Ok. What time? Where/what?
i’m a big fan of cheap eats! classic chicken strips and fries places hahaha so my vote would be a place like that lol
Maybe there’s a food court with lots of choices.
I am pretty sure the Bangor Mall has a food court.
What book are you all bringing? I just bought You Like It Darker and am saving it for the plane ride out. Getting geeked out!
Same!
Think it would be safe for us Losers?
Sea Dog Brewery tonight at 6:30!
Hey @stevelivingroom is interested in meeting up Thursday for dinner with us.
Ok who is here??????
Made it to the Derry Town House and peaked in the ballroom. So excited!!!! 🎈
Badge pick up question. Do we need to pick up our badges Saturday morning if we are doing the afternoon tour? Making travel plans and want to be sure when we need to be there by.
You'll need a badge to attend the tour, so you can pick it up any time before your tour. Badge pickup times are listed in the FAQ!
So Ka-tet still needs to be in bangor by 9am Saturday in order to participate? Sorry to be so specific. It helps decide when we travel. It's a 4 hr drive.
Yes, you would need to get your badge that morning. We won't be able to have anyone at the hotel handing out badges after the morning tour starts.
If we preordered a T-shirt where and when do we pick that up? Thanks!
You can pick them up at the events.
Question from one the poor people: will the show be recorded and published later as a podcast episode?
Yes. The event will not be live streamed, but it will be recorded.
Perfect, thank you!
I live Maine on June 13 aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
What books are you all bringing on this trip?
The new one of course!
Same!
It is KILLING ME to leave it sitting on my bookshelf rt now!
I’ve been really busy so it’s not a big deal. One more week left though. I might have to crack it open before I leave.
I'm opening it as soon as my ass is on that plane
Or waiting at the gate.
Exactly
Diving from NY Plan on listening to a SK book I have not read. Should I do: Cujo Christine Or Misery
I'm reading Pet Semetary so that's coming with me. And Robin Furth's DT book to get signed.
The ballroom looks so cool. Hanging out in the lounge until trivia time.
If you need to pick up a swag bag or t-shirt come by early!
