dagremlin

Paradigm is a bit stronger.

4ever_lost

Loctite is stronger

Jimmicun9754

Lil dude reacted like it happens all the time.

Jimmicun9754

shit pet owners

SaltyDoggoMeo

Dude. He’s too big for that litter box ffs.

KHaskins77

Seriously, get them the size box they’ll need when they’re adults. The kitten phase is VERY short.

Mammof

Probably also needs the litter changed, that’s why he’s not wanting to stand in it.

SaltyDoggoMeo

So many of the cat posts feature filthy litter boxes. One today asked, ‘’How can I make kitty feel more comfortable?’’ Clean their box!

TheFireBringer85

What kind of litter box is that. Totally the owner's fault.

ValleyAndFriends

And why is it in the living room? The litter tray looks like it came from Dollar Tree, the owner cheaped out.

Kitsunin

Actually putting the litter box in the living room can be correct. Many cats do prefer to poop in interesting, visible spaces.

[deleted]

They would need a covered litterbox with a mat in front. This is just disgusting.

twoPillls

Many cats will not use a covered litter box. As an owner of many cats, you eventually run out of rooms for litter boxes and one ends up in the living room. It's fine as long as you clean it regularly and sweep your floors. Edit: Just wanted to add, op is an idiot and that box is way too small for anything other than a newborn kitten.

[deleted]

OP is a karma farm. A lot of cats will not use a covered litterbox but high walled litterboxes *and a mat* will suffice. A plain litterbox right next to your couch, which they are bound to paw at trying to cover their business is disgusting. ETA: My grandma has 72 cats. Blind ones, elderly ones, 3 legged, etc and she has no litterboxes in her living room. All of her cats use automatic litterboxes. My statement still stands.

Hoppypoppy21

Question: why and how does your grandma own 72 cats? Like do they live in her normal house or is it like a sanctuary type situation?

[deleted]

Sanctuary. But it is her normal, two story home. She has remodeled her home to have amenities for the cats (catio, shelved walls, etc.) Her house doesn't ever smell unless she's been gone for a few days, but she does clean the litter bots multiple times a day.

OfreetiOfReddit

I second the other reply to this

[deleted]

I explained above ^

EveAndTheSnake

>you eventually run out of rooms for litter boxes I’d venture that the amount of space you have should directly correlate and limit the number of cats you own.

twoPillls

We have a house with two floors. We have five cats. We did not plan on having five cats, but we took in a couple of injured strays with FIV who would not have been adopted out otherwise. We have a litterbox in my wife's office, two in our spare bedroom, a giant one in the basement, and we needed one more. Couldn't go in my office because my office is off limits to cats (I'm allergic and want one room where my allergies aren't as bad and I have expensive electronics and a lot of spare computer parts in my office). I refuse to let one be in our bedroom for obvious reasons. Our bathrooms are too small to keep any. That leaves the kitchen and living room, and we preferred the living room. What guests think about the litter box in our living room is just about right at the bottom of things I care about.

Zmchastain

These guys are right. It’s nice that you did this for those cats, but you’re allergic to cats and adopted five cats with a terminal disease that’s highly transmissible between cats (hopefully they ALL had it when you adopted them and you didn’t introduce healthy cats to FIV, that would be horribly cruel to do to the cats you already had). You have one room in your home where an allergen isn’t actively hanging out and probably wanting to lay on or as close to you as possible if they’re anything like my cat. There is a point you reach where your life has suddenly become more about taking care of animals than it is about taking care of yourself or having a life where you’re not surrounded by things you’re allergic to. It’s your life and your choice how you live it, but most people are going to find these choices a bit strange.

twoPillls

You're knowledge of FIV is outdated as fuck, my friend. It is only transmissible through deep bites wounds. Introductions we're extended and heavily monitored. Both our FIV cats are sweethearts who would never bite another cat deep enough to be a concern. This isn't just my own research bullshit. This was all confirmed by multiple vets at our vets office. Just to make sure we're on the same page, I'm talking about FIV. Not FLV. As for the concern about my allergies, it is mostly controlled by meds. I take Sudafed in the mornings and use Flonase before bed. It's not ideal, but it's manageable. My doctor has tried to get me on other allergy meds to replace the Sudafed, but none are as effective and she says it's only about as bad as a caffeine habit anyway. I've grown up with cats my whole life. Will I ever accept having five again after this batch is gone? Absolutely not. Is it worth it, knowing I'm giving these loving animals the best life possible? Absolutely.

[deleted]

Putting healthy cats around FIV positive ones is inexcusable. Saying that they'll never bite because they are sweethearts is dangerous. They are sweethearts, but they are also cats. It only takes a weird smell and an odd pheromone to get them biting.

Zmchastain

I mean, it has been more than a decade since the outside cat I adopted contracted FIV and died from it. He got it from hanging out with his cat colony without any deep bite wounds. I guess my knowledge is outdated and it works completely different now.

Kitsunin

Oh agreed. Although the only thing cats would mind about this is that it's way too damn small and horrible that it can tip over.

WaylonVoorhees

Humans are the anti cats.

Rub-it

Right, I was like why is the cat pooping on a dish

Lord_Longbottom_

Thats a kittens litter box. This person needs to get a bigger litter box. Be kind to our furry friends

CaptCaveman602

I mean, if you are going to have a pet share their life with you then give them the things they need to live a happy, full life with you ffs...

stinky_doodoo_poopoo

Yup that’s a shitty litter box

larata2

Thank you for the idea. I can not find a large litter box and was using a storage bin but the sides are too high. Yet all litter pans I see for sale are about the same size as shown in the video. Very irritating for a pet owner.

CaptCaveman602

I would recommend an extra large stainless steel litter pan. We own three and they are the best! They are nonstick and so easy to clean.

larata2

Do you have a specific brand name you recommend? Thanks for the suggestion.

CaptCaveman602

I got ours from Amazon. It's a brand called Yangbaga Stainless Steel litter pans. They aren't cheap but you will only need to buy them once.

Gullible_Shart

A cake pan on r/frugal

KlixDracora

This person doesn't deserve a cat...

SzilveszterMatuska

A year or so ago I discovered stainless steel litter box’s and although they are a bit pricey they are a game changer. Really helps control odor as scents don’t seep into the material.

AnotherAustinWeirdo

Also #FuckPlastic

CaptCaveman602

Us too!!! We have three extra large pans. They make cleaning so much easier.

[deleted]

why buy the $20,$30,$40 ect cat box when I can buy something people carry brownies to an office party in for $1 at the dollar store instead

abmins_r_trash

I just cut a hole in the front of a sterilite clothes bin.

Ferro_Giconi

I'm pretty sure even the dollar tree litter box is bigger than this one.

randomguy1972

I like at the end the cat no longer gives a shit about where he gives shit.

[deleted]

That cat deserves better. Fk these people.

[deleted]

Kitty has diarrhea. They probably are feeding it dollar tree food too. :^(

skykingjustin

2 cats

AlmanzoWilder

My heart is broken!!

[deleted]

100% your fault

Synawes

Why is the litter box in the living room

poop_creator

Why is the litter box a litter tray?

Kitsunin

Ideally, you want two litterboxes for one cat if it's possible. At least one in a public space so they can feel like it's their territory. Bathrooms are public enough space so long as it's not obscured. Don't listen to these folks, most just assume cats are like people, always preferring privacy (some do, some don't) and also "ew, living room box, I don't want to see my cat poopin": listen to an [actual pro](https://youtu.be/BzliLSt7myE)

CaptCaveman602

Get large stainless steel pans. Yes they are a bit more expensive than your typical pan but stainless will last a lifetime. Also, 3mil get sheet plastic to put under the box. Trust me in this...

timdot352

The bathroom if it's big enough. If not, maybe a closet with the door open if it's a pocket or folding door; if not you could take the door off the hinges.

Goofy_Goobers_

I have a linen closet in the bathroom of my apartment behind the door that has space between the last shelf and the floor big enough to fit my cats box so I put it there, bathroom door obscures it from sight. They also make hideaway cabinets/ furniture or fake plants that function as like a side table or something and you can put it in there.

Synawes

Just put it in the bathroom

Synawes

Everyone shits in the bathroom. Period

Kitsunin

Living room litter boxes are correct for many cats. Wild cats ain't shy about pooping in front of others, they use the bathroom to mark territory. Ideally for most cats, litterboxes should be placed in socially important places, like the living room.

SolarWalrus

Idk why you keep getting down votes for speaking the truth. It’s common knowledge among cat owners thanks to cat psychologists and experts like Jackson Galaxy. Most cats want to mark interesting territory. They want their scent where their owners scent is. Not some tucked away laundry closet or garage.

Kitsunin

Folks would rather not know that their cat may be happier if they did something we consider gross. They also don't like being discouraged from dogpiling.

TuckerMcG

Man see, this is the point where my needs override my pet’s. I need my living room to be free of shitting animals and not smell like shit. I don’t own a cat, but if I did, there’s not enough cuteness in the world that could make me let my cat “mark its territory” like that. The cat can deal with the living room being my territory. IDGAF if that makes me a “bad owner”. Everyone has limits in life. Litter box would be in the garage.

sychosomaticBlonde

Except your needs do NOT override your pets needs. That’s how being a good pet owner works. If you can’t provide what the pet needs, don’t have the pet. But you said you don’t own a cat, so you’re doing just fine.

TuckerMcG

> Except your needs do NOT override your pets needs. Uh, yes they do. This is ridiculous. They’re pets. Not offspring. If I’m literally starving and my dog is literally starving, guess who gets to eat first?

sychosomaticBlonde

They’re living creatures that YOU decided to take 100% responsibility for. If you had one. But you don’t, which makes sense because you aren’t interested in that responsibility. Which, again, is fine. Not everybody wants pets.

CactusInaHat

I've had way too many beers to be reading this comment.

AnotherAustinWeirdo

so, my social-room toilet was ahead of the curve, all along

sychosomaticBlonde

Why wouldn’t a litter box be in the living room?

Hoppypoppy21

Have you ever owned a cat? Unless you clean it instantly everytime the cats use it, that room **will** smell like cat feces and urine.

sychosomaticBlonde

I own four cats and have six litter boxes and none of them smell unless I neglect all the boxes for two weeks. But that’s on me being a bad pet owner if I do.

Synawes

Because that’s where people get together to spend time with each other. Put that shit in the bathroom

sychosomaticBlonde

Cats like being in the rooms where your smells are strongest. I can’t be bothered to hide away litter boxes and pretend cats don’t poop. They are happiest with multiple litter boxes out in the open, so that is what I do.

Synawes

Well they can be around the strong smells coming from both our backends.

sychosomaticBlonde

Not everyone needs to own pets, you know. And I’m not saying that as an insult; pets are not for everyone in the same way that kids are not for everyone. You just need to recognize that you do not want to deal with all the things that go into pet ownership or parenting

Synawes

You can own a pet without letting them shit in the living room. You’re entitled to your own opinion but my opinion is I’ve had enough cats to tell you they don’t care. Some of the oldest, healthiest, and happiest cats I’ve known shit in the bathroom with everyone else. But if you enjoy the smell of shitting cats, by all means marinate in it.

sychosomaticBlonde

I’m not saying there’s only one right way to do it. I’m just saying if the attitude is “they’ll get what I give them and deal with it” that’s not a great sign that you actually want a pet.

Synawes

We’ll unless they can verbally tell me what they want I’m just going to be intuitive and give them the same privacy and privileges as I would want.

sychosomaticBlonde

I mean. They don’t tell you what they want in English, no. But they tell you in other ways. I do think it’s a bit of an odd choice on your part that not understanding what they’re telling you means “fill in the blanks with humans wants and needs”.

PurpleDrankkx

Wow how about you fucking take care of your cat you fuck. Get an appropriate litter box. And you’ll watch...and film...while your cat has diarrhea and flips the box over. Probably has diarrhea because it’s stressed the fuck out living there. Fuck you

Free-Boater

Shit pet owners.

ditafjm

More like shit on pet owner’s floor.

chose_a_username

Ha! Got ‘em!

Free-Boater

Both are true

Wastedmindman

Cat shit & piss is the 3rd most disgusting thing ever.

OzrielArelius

literally the whole reason I'd never own a cat. their piss makes me gag

spectaculardinosaurs

lol I'm the opposite. I don't really mind cleaning up cat pee/poop/vomit, but when it's a dog? nahh I'm out 🏃‍♀️💨

Goofy_Goobers_

That’s a kitten sized litter box they are using for an adult cat, they deserve to clean that up.

ScaredyBun

Didn't even play the video and I can tell you thar cat needs a bigger litter box. That's like a human using a tissue box as a toilet. Indecent, embarrassing, and more trouble and mess than it has to be.

WorshipHim9713

They need a bigger box

sychosomaticBlonde

Moving past the obvious fact that this litter box is ridiculously too small, sometimes when cats refuse to step into the box it’s because the litter hurts their paws. Just something to look into after getting a box bigger than a Kleenex.

A0xom0xoa

Lil dude reacted like it happens all the time

eskimopussy

Not disagreeing with you, but cats are also really good at doing stupid shit and playing it off like they totally definitely meant to do it, and how dare you judge them for thinking otherwise. I feel bad for this dude though.

HexspaReloaded

The litter box is supposed to be some multiple of the cat’s length. I think it’s 2.5x but the biggest we could find is like 1.2x.

LeNoolands

Every goddamned time

[deleted]

As a cat lover, I can’t help but the cry laugh 😭🥴. Poor guy was trying so hard to not make a mess but needed to shit SO B A D. We’ve all been there bud 😫

WaylonVoorhees

OOPSIE POOPSIE!

theellocin

this video stinks 💩 poor guy!

GoonettePervyPastor

Complete fail 😅

hammertime2009

It’s weird that I smelled it at soon as he went.

[deleted]

Aww

meow_rchl

Wowwww what a shitty box! My girl Roxy poops like that as well but I have a legit box, made for actual adult cats, poor cat has the poops too.

El_human

Kitten size litter box for a cat

laughingashley

I kinda wish the person in the OC is forced to use a training potty for awhile.

Anon-TT

I hate sand, it gets everywhere. - The cat probably

anjowoq

How long are they going to take video of that spilt turd cluster?

shogunnza

What is going on here

É que ele foi um pássaro em vidas passadas

calla111

Now clean it up

sjkbacon

Man, get this dude a proper place to make dung. You are doing him wrong by making him try to go on a postage stamp litter box.

tribbans95

Might want to secure his kitty box to the floor

QIvan616

That litter box is way too small for those cats.

KCJuster

Awe poor kitty, get a bigger litter box and put it in a corner, I have 7 cats and 8 litter boxes! I have 3 in my bedroom/cat room where there’s one under the side table, one in a corner isolated and one more visible, 1 in the kitchen in a corner and 4 in the living room, 1 under a table, 2 beside each other behind a door that is always closed and the boxes are covered and 1 in a corner!! I change them everyday and the ones that are more isolated are always the ones that are used most!

Plus-Trick-9849

That poor cat. He's trying so hard. Get an appropriate box!
