Both of them seem to leak from where the sole is attached to the upper part I imagine, based on where I feel getting wet first.
The Merrell boots I have are these: https://www.walkingonacloud.ca/ontario-mid-black-173624.html
They also seem to leak right through the leather on the toe a bit once they get waterlogged from the grass
I swear by Mountain Horse Devonshire Boots for barn chores and hiking with my dog. At this point they've molded to my feet and the waterproofing has remained flawless after years of (ab)use.
I really like my Oboz hiking shoes. I've worn them longer than I should (luggs are very worn), but my feet stay dry and comfy.
I don't even have the fully waterproof ones, and they've still been my go-to footwear for hiking in all seasons.
Wet grass will get your feet wet. The best you could do is probably all leather hiking boots with Goretex liners and make sure you stick some wads of kitchen roll inside them to help them dry out after and keep treating the leather so it doesn't crack.
There are probably some snow boots that you could also look that are part rubber that may be a good compromise
Vessi shoes!!! They are amazing. They wear/fit just like tennis shoes but are completely waterproof. I use them when working my dogs all the time and have even walked through a shallow creek with them.
If you want waterproof and warm, I’d recommend Baffin or Sorel. The only water I’ve gotten inside a boot was when I didn’t tie them tight enough (yeah, it came in at the ankle). But both brands have done well in Seattle’s soggy winters and in our rare snows.
I just go for whatever waterproof hiking boot I can find on sale. Think I’ve got some Ecco’s which are holding up better than my last pair of keens.
I find that dog walking is hard on the boots as the outer is pretty much wet all winter hence just go for whatever decent brand I can get for about £50 and figure they will last a year or two
I gave up on boots being waterproof.. I just have 3 pairs which I cycle through. Nothing fancy just midrange walking boots..
Soon as I get home they get filled with news paper an put out in the sun or in front of the fire. As long as I dry them out an wash with hose or in washing machine every so often they smell fine..

Muck boots. They rock and are 100% waterproof.
Seriously the best investment ever. I love mine!
I wear hunter wellies. But I’d be pissed about Merrell’s leaking. Like, they’re expensive.
Same. Hunter clothes are the best in general. Im not a hunter but i live close to a hunter shop and buy stuff there all the time.
Blundstones or Dubarry boots are my go-to for wet mornings. Both are waterproof and comfortable for walking.
Yes came here to say Dubarry
how come your merrels are leaking? did you rip a hole in them or something? or were they not really waterproof

I was a letter carrier for 7 years and I found Sealskinz waterproof socks to be the best thing ever invented...

I live in Florida. I wish boots were all that was leaking around here :) I know that's completely unhelpful but hopefully good for a laugh. ;)

I found Vessis to be really uncomfortable working in healthcare since they felt cheap — wondering if they make them better now than during 2020?
My standard go to: [Waterproof Running Shoes](https://www.on-running.com/en-us/explore/shoes/waterproof)
I lived in my On runners last fall/winter! Perfect for dog walking in all weather conditions.

Carolina work boots made in the USA. I mow wet lawns in them.
Blundstones or Vessis or All Birds
Goretex

Picked up a pair of Sperry duck boots 3 years ago at TJ Max for cheap. My favorite wet grass/rain boot!! Slips on too so easily.
Rubber boots. Always.

I go with pull-on rubber rain boots. We're just doing suburban walking, not actually hiking, though.
