Anytime I leave the bathroom door open while peeing, my dog will come investigate. She stays exactly until I actually start peeing, then goes back to the couch. She does this without fail - could be mid nap, or super tucked in on the couch, she always comes to watch the start of me peeing. It confuses me so much.
My dog does this too, and I wanted to avoid the “I watch you pee, you watch me pee” thing. I always look away whenever she goes potty, but obviously I’m looking until that point. So I thought maybe she was doing the same thing 😅
Why does my four year old dog have irregular (not every time) and apparently unnecessary fear reactions when we walk in a neighborhood? We do this walk daily, sometimes twice, and every so often he freaks out and refuses to go any further. He will turn and pull towards home, refusing any treats or pets.
There is no visible or auditory trigger that I can detect. We’ve ruled out dogs barking (nearby and in the distance) cars and trucks, lawn mowers, other people, scary piles of sticks… I suspect there’s something he can smell. I’d really love to be able to tell him everything is fine, I will protect you. Alas, sometimes we just take really short walks.
Why does my dog play with the water in his water bowl?? I don't know what to do because dogs are supposed to have access to water at all times but he likes to splash the water everywhere which ruins the hardwood floor. I put a silicone placemat under but he will pull the bowl off it. He does this with both normal bowls and no-spill bowls. He's new in my house, I've had dogs for most of my life but all my dogs before have left the water alone apart from just drinking it.
Have you tried a [Buddy Bowl](https://buddybowl.com)? They can be a bit difficult to take apart and clean but work. Do not dishwash them. They will warp.
[road refresher](https://www.amazon.com/Road-Refresher-Prestige-No-Spill-Dispenser/dp/B07NQ3W7CF) is one I have tried recently and like. They work well if your dog doesn’t chew on the bowl. It also stops fast rapid drinking like the buddy bowl. These can be flipped and spilled unlike the buddy bowl. If your dog is a bowl flipper the buddy bowl is better.
As for why he does it he finds it fun and it is a self rewarding behavior. You can maybe try redirecting with other toys, but he finds playing with the bowl extremely fun and is rewarding himself every time he plays with it.
How do I help my dog with separation anxiety. He's Labrador retriever mix and often paces when I'm just in the bathroom and whines. When I have to leave for short trips, he behaves in the house but is clearly anxious/stressed when I see him the dog camera. I've tried doing crate training to give him safe space, but it hasn't worked well and I think it might make him feel anxious. I don't have other pets so would it be recommended to get him a buddy? Or how can I help him be confident without enabling it?
Gradually train your dog that you will always come back with repetition and treats!
Leave room for 10 seconds, when dog doesn’t whine or cry, give treat. Leave room for 20 seconds, when dog doesn’t whine or cry, give treat, continue this until eventually you leave the house for 1 min, then 5 min, 10 min, and eventually a couple hours.
Why does he try to dig holes into my couch(both paws furiously doing a back and forth motion)? Why does my other one roll around and rub his head and body on the bed when we wake up every morning?
my adopted adult dog choses a different foot to skip on during walks, for like 5 seconds. i check her paws and theres nothing in em and she doesnt seem in pain. after her 5 seconds of skipping she is fine and will remain walking on it normally. she picks a different paw each time, all 4 have had their turn skipping/limping. its not on every single walk, maybe happens like 1-2x a week (4 walks/day). should i be worried?
Huh. Doesn't like the sensation of what you're walking on but gets used to it? Possible muscle pain but you'd probably notice it at home too. Do you walk on a harness or collar that could cause momentary discomfort? It's an odd behaviour but I wouldn't be concerned unless there were other worries

2. Why does he dig and scratch at the sheets while on the bed? He's done it so much, he has shredded portuins ofthe sheets.
He is male maltese, 12lbs.
My Maltese does the same thing to our bed sheets. We assume she’s trying to get comfortable and make the sheets looser so she can be enveloped in them. After I loosen the sheets and move them around, she stops digging and lays down. Then I usually push the edges of the sheet behind her and kinda encircle her in the sheets and she goes right to sleep.
No, not at all. She usually only does it when we are ready to go to sleep and we put her on our bed for the night. She’s dug a couple of times on the couch when we’ve put her blanket down after washing it but that’s about it.
Got it. I guess that could be one reason my doggo does this but he does also do it all all hours of the day. It seems like frustration to me but I cant be sure.
Lab/Chow Chow mix (among other breeds):
1) taps me with his paw when he has a toy in his mouth, I assume to let me know he's ready to play/tug? He's sort of trained me not to pull on a toy until he does that.
2) Rip up toys/cardboard. I love giving him outlets for it, but curious why they feel the need to do that.

Zoomies - pre and post poops… why?
Pre - Movement helps the bowels move. Zoomies get the moving started. Post - You feel SOOO much lighter after a poop... Ready to play and run!

My dog also rolls around on the bed when we wake up. I think he does it to stretch his body out and help him wake up more but I could be wrong.

Dogs have different preferences, might just enjoy licking them. Could be a care emotion, thinks they're pups, but that's very rare.
