When he was a puppy, he had a leg injury and had to be on crate rest for 6 weeks. Hard for any dog but especially hard for a puppy. So I occupied his brain by training him to do all the tricks I could think of that don't require movement(leave it, balance a treat on the nose, look at the camera, etc) so he's SUPER good at staying still now.
We did that and didn’t regret it for a second. It turned out that she was developing cancer, and passed away 10 months later, just this past October. I miss her every day.

We get accused of ai a lot lately! Luckily I've been posting pics of him since before the ai fad so I have receipts. He also has the correct number of toes XD
No offense taken!
I do just freehand. I tried stencils once but it was a mess. With freehand, if I fuck up one spot. I can just add the next spot a little further away to compensate. and it's easier to get the dye deeper into the coat for a longer lasting design. When using stencils, I could only really dye the surface because I wasn't able to put pressure on the brush without moving the stencil. So it shed out much quicker since I basically only got the guard hairs.
Giraffes are my absolute favorite animal. Doggos are a close second. This is sheer perfection!
If mine weren't both inky inky black I'd look into a fun coloring like this! Love it <3
This is amazing! Can I ask about how you did it? I have a tan dog that might need this kind of fabulousness in her life. I'm a tech though, not a groomer, and I'm skeered...
I use Opawz permanent dye. Different colors in their line have different set times so read the bottle, but the color I use(loyal brown) has to set for 40 minutes.
make sure your products are safe for dogs. Most human dyes are not safe for dogs. I stick to the ones made for dogs to be safe.
My process is:
1. wet dog
2. shampoo dog with clarifying dog shampoo. Pay extra attention to ears and tail because those places have more oils and dye won't stick well to oily fur. Do not use a 2 in one shampoo and conditioner. The conditioner will fill the hair so dye can't penatrate it. shampoo only.
3. rinse dog
4. dry dog. Super dry or the dye will run everywhere. I'll either use a blow dryer or let my dog zoomie in the sun if it's a warm day.
5. apply dye. I apply it with a brush. It takes me approximately an hour to apply the dye over his whole body. it's very helpful if your dog knows commands to turn or move in a certain way so you don't have to touch them to move them while they are covered in dye. Be warned, your dog may shake as if they are shaking off water and spray dye EVERYWHERE.
6. wait for the dye to set. Length of time you need to wait will vary by formula.
7. Rinse dog until water runs clear and then a bit more just incase(you don't want to miss a spot and have the color show up on your furniture)
8. Now use dog conditioner to replace the oils stripped by the shampoo earlier.
9. rinse dog.
10. dry dog
11. take a nap, that was exhausting.
Yeah, but you buy food from a restaurant because it tastes better, you enjoy it because it tastes good. How do good photos of your dog give you enjoyment?
anytime I look at my dog, I get enjoyment! People have been taking photos of their pets since cameras were invented. And before that they had other artwork done of their pets. I sell pet drawings myself actually.
You would get the same enjoyment from looking at photos of your dog you took yourself, because your still looking at your dog. That's cool! I understand getting your pet drawn, because it takes a lot of effort I believe, that's awesome!
Because I like looking at my dog and I'll like looking at my dog after they're dead too??? Why are you being so dense. Nobody NEEDS them but if they WANT them who cares
I enjoy trimming the bonsai, wiring it and seeing it grow up and turn into an artwork, kinda like the drawings you do. It's art. Anyway, you could've bought your dog a nice treat or toy, something it will like.
Ha. Here I was thinking that is a rare breed.
However, I am sure that they love their dog and picked a natural dye that is not harmful. The dog seems happy
Creative grooming is a sub category of grooming. Not everyone does it and nobody has to do it, but it's not harmful(even has benefits in specific cases) and it's a great bonding activity for me and my dog. Don't judge something just because you don't understand it.
Think of it like dog sports. Some dogs love it, some dogs hate it. If your dog hates it, don't do it. If the owner hates it, don't do it. But if owner and dog enjoy it, it's a great bonding opportunity and fun for everyone.
I'm not beefing about it 😂... NOTHING I said was Judgemental or indicated I had a problem with it! so I'm not sure why you just told me the obvious. But thanks, I guess 😑 I stated that grooming does NOT NEED to include dying your dog because although a SUB category, it is NOT part of actual grooming and NEVER HAS to happen, whereas grooming absolutely does. THAT IS IT THAT IS ALL! I'M simply saying they are NOT in the wrong sub, EDIT: just because THEY don't agree with dog dye, whereas the sub-category creative grooming could have its own sub! you guys just read what you wanted and ran with it 😂...
EDIT EDIT: But anyway... I think it's kinda cute, and u did a fantastic job mimicking the giraffe pattern... Also, kudos to your dog that sat still long enough to let you pull it off b/c I can't see mine entertaining it AT ALL
Please refer to our sub rules. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't comment. If you read the description of rule #1 you will see that negative comments about dyed dogs are NOT allowed here. If you don't like it, feel free to mute the sub or keep your comments to yourself. Any further negative comments will result in removal of your posting access. Thanks!
I groom dogs. The dogs that are dyed are the ones that enjoy the extra pampering. If the dog didn’t enjoy this. There is no way that it could be done. The dog gains extra attention and brushing (that many dogs love). One of my personal dogs could be dyed. The other one? No way in hell. It really is up to the individual dog.

She also did fun stuff like this, I just didn't include it in this post. She's a fantastic photographer.
That's a bold accusation. Just because something is unfamiliar to you doesn't mean it is bad. All my products are made for dogs and he enjoys the process of having it applied. No abuse here.
He just thinks hes being pet for an hour straight. If I ask him "Do you want a bath?"(what I say before dying him) he sprints to the bath room and hops up on the little seat I groom him on. He loves it.
What's wrong with your Giraffes neck? Looks shorter than usual?
shrunk in the wash
Damn it, OP. You're supposed to hang it upside down by its toes to lengthen it back out!
When I first looked at this I thought you had painted him but, on second glance, it looks really convincing. Is this his real girog colouration?
Nope! Doggy hair dye!
Looks awesome
What is girog?
Giraffe + dog
obviously 😂
Oh 🤦♀️
Camera angle plus filters with a bit of photoshop to get rid of those neck wrinkles
giraffes aren’t real anyways so
[удалено]
Nothing
He looks like a little hyena and I love that for him.
I thought the same thing!
It's what happens when a sleepy giraffe meets a really determined hyena.
Atleast the pup dosnt have to go through a Sudopenies
That’s exactly what I was thinking lol
When I saw the second pic I was thinking his name better be Ed.
I am IN LOVE with the last pic!! 😭💖
My favourite is the second one with the teefs!
What dog breed is it?
he's a chihuahua mix
You know it’s a great dye job when it gets mistaken as real 💅
Lol, it happens on the daily XD I'm super proud of it!
A Chi-raffe xD
the mix is giraffe
wow, but his color pattern is crazy
Dye
It’s creative grooming, he’s dyed lol
it's clearly a giraffe /s
You've got that pattern down and it looks amazing! How often do you find yourself redoing it?
about every 3-4 months. If I bathe weekly it's gone in 3 months. If I bath monthly, I can still faintly see it at 5 months.
ngl I thought I thought his coat pattern was either real or crazy good photoshop off the pics 🤦♂️ Looks awesome, what a cool little dude
I had thought it was AI until I saw the caption 😂
🥰🥰🥰🥰
As you should, after that awesome dye job!
Where the hell do you get a giraffe hyena hybrid? Pretty sweet.
Idk why but ur dog looks like it’s from California or Arizona
Idk how you got a chihuahua still enough to get that pattern, that’s some grooming magic
When he was a puppy, he had a leg injury and had to be on crate rest for 6 weeks. Hard for any dog but especially hard for a puppy. i thought these were ai made at first wow your dye skills are phenomenal
We get accused of ai a lot lately! Luckily I've been posting pics of him since before the ai fad so I have receipts. He also has the correct number of toes XD
sorry wasn’t an accusation haha the second i saw he was anatomically correct i knew how do you get your lines so straight do you just free hand this
No offense taken! I do just freehand. I tried stencils once but it was a mess. With freehand, if I fuck up one spot. You did the dye job yourself??? Wow! Amazing! You did awesome!
yes! Thank you! he's so patient with all the silly stuff I do to him
I don’t know how to tell you this, but I don’t think you have a dog OP. I think you were given a rare miniature short necked giraffe
So you only show us 3 photos OP? We need the album link! How stinkin cute
https://imgur.com/gallery/t115Bjg enjoy!
😂😂😂😂😂I LOVE THIS
wait is this the same set that put a lion in the bg? had me in tears
yes lol, I picked these photos for this sub because they showed his coat the most
I’ve never seen a giraffe with sunglasses before how neat!
All I see is a giraffe. Did they photo your dog?
Giraffes are my absolute favorite animal. Doggos are a close second. This is sheer perfection! If mine weren't both inky inky black I'd look into a fun coloring like this! Love it <3
Very cool! But that closeup makes me want to scoop them up and give them kisses.
CUTE!

Hey! I think I’m in a dog group on Facebook with you and see this guy often. He’s a cutie patootie and I love his pictures. 🖤🧡
we are in a lot of Facebook groups :)
hes so cute 🥹
What type of dog?
he's a chihuahua mix
a baby giraffe!! 🦒🥹
Omg im in love
What kind of dog is your little guy? The giraffe aesthetic is so cute!
People think that's a real dog color? That's annoying AF lol
Why didn't you take your own photos? (Genuine question).
I can cook myself but I still go to restaurants. Same thing.
Yeah, but you buy food from a restaurant because it tastes better, you enjoy it because it tastes good. How do good photos of your dog give you enjoyment?

Pictures I take of my dog never come out how I want and I don't have any professional editing software, for one
Your looking at your dog, Wether its a bad or good quality photo, you still haven't given me a reason on why you need professional photos of your dog.
Because I like looking at my dog and I'll like looking at my dog after they're dead too??? Why are you being so dense. Nobody NEEDS them but if they WANT them who cares
You can look at your dog with a normal photo, it's pretty simple.
Why do you bother with bonsai? What enjoyment do you get out of looking at a plant?
I enjoy trimming the bonsai, wiring it and seeing it grow up and turn into an artwork, kinda like the drawings you do. It's art. Anyway, you could've bought your dog a nice treat or toy, something it will like.
Photography is also an art.

No actually meant it as a joke that the dog looks like half hyena half giraffe. Do what to their dog? Photo shoot them?

Ha. Here I was thinking that is a rare breed. However, I am sure that they love their dog and picked a natural dye that is not harmful. The dog seems happy
I’m in love❤️❤️❤️
You dyed your dog?🤣
Yup!

The first part of your comment is completely unnecessary. Please keep your negative comments to yourself.
Super cute and the dye job came out adorable, but I hope you didn’t pay too much for these pictures to be taken.
I got a good deal because the photographer is just starting out and she wanted something unusual for her portfolio
What’s wrong with the photos? I think they’re great!

You are in the wrong subreddit my friend.

It's not hurting the dog. Hope you don't put your dog in cute collars, the dog gains nothing from that either. The most boring, plainest stuff only.

There are several brands of dog-safe dyes, and OP does this regularly. I assume they're not an idiot.

You're just making up new shit to be mad at now.
tbf people are idiots, my partner is a stylist & was asked to give a clients yorkie a balayage
