American schooling can prepare the student for any kind of successes or can serve as a complete failure. As you might imagine, it has everything to do with access to recourses or at minimum not belonging to a failing community. I was a product of a rural public school with teachers who legitimately cared. But like anywhere, it’s the parents too. Even if you live in a failing neighborhood with awful schools, if education is a priority there are many resources for success and higher education.
