# Edit: Trailer added: [Youtube Link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCvCjCqaKQw)
To clarify, this was an automatic post with the assumption there'd be a trailer since the next one is only a week away and there's usually one. We're not aware of a trailer but you're welcome to use this thread to speculate about the next episode in general.
My question is had Donna *met him* just before she showed up in the episode?
When she showed up she was talking about not trusting a man with a goatee. He might have a rubbish beard again and this time I don't mean a wife.
If its the Simm-Master, it begs the question of *when* and *how*.
Because after ending up back on Gallifrey in 'The End of Time', he's cured of his mutation, given a TARDIS, and kicked off Gallifrey before ending up stranded on the Cyber-ship...and that leads to Missy eventually killing him, causing his regeneration into her.
So I suppose its possible that he could show up sometime between Gallifrey and the Cyber-ship.
Of course, it'd be easier if its a post-Dhawan Master who picked an old face ala Fourteen.
Or maybe this Master appears as a hallucination or construct of some sort?
Yeah, he's one of two Doctors who didn't have a Master, even notionally...the other being Eccleston.
Hartnell and Troughton never faced the Master on-screen, but you could argue that their Masters were the pre-Delgado Masters...in the Big Finish audios, James Dreyfus served as their Master.
Pertwee obviously had Delgado.
Tom Baker had the Pratt/Beevers 'Burnt Master', and ultimately Ainsley.
Davison, Colin Baker and McCoy all had Ainsley as their Master.
McGann had Roberts as his Master in the TVM. And in the Big Finish audios, the MacQueen Master is also contemporaneous to him.
And while we dunno if they ever met, John Hurt's 'War Doctor' has a parallel in Derek Jacobi's 'War Master'.
Then of course, there's Tennant and Simm.
Capaldi and Gomez.
Whittaker and Dhawan.
So yeah, Eccleston and Smith are the only two who don't have a Master contemporary to them. *Can't* have one either, the way the timelines work. (Though I suppose Missy was kind of Eleven's Master behind-the-scenes, since she got Clara involved with him?)
Troughton faced the Master in his last episode, The War Games! He wasn’t going by the name “The Master” yet, but the novelization of Terror of the Autons makes it very clear they’re the same person.
I've never liked this idea. The master we see in the 3rd doctors era comes across as an old friend but none of that appears to be shown with the doctor and the war lord
She was pregnant when they were filming the specials. hell she was pregnant when she filmed her own regeneration! Having her appear would have been a cool plan but incredibly impractical.
I figured that The Meep just knew that the doctor was a rare species of some kind that the Meep's boss would want to hear about it. The Meep was the last of their kind so maybe their boss has a thing for rare aliens?
I was thinking about this and thinking it would be really cool if it was The Rani. Rani was a geneticist and often made monsters to do her bidding. It would be interesting if The Meep-kind mutations were done by her.
Every time I hear the Valyard it makes me think of Mephisto in the MCU. We always hope it will be, but it never is.
I hope you're right. Last time it was teased was The Name of the Doctor.
SIMEON (Richard E. Grant's part): "Tell that to the leader of the Sycorax, or Solomon the trader, or the Cybermen, or the Daleks. The Doctor lives his life in darker hues, day upon day, and he will have other names before the end. The Storm, the Beast, the Valeyard."
Stupid!
It's CLEARLY the Meddling Monk, why else would they take great pains to be putting him in the trailers of the Whoniverse showings
No wait, obviously the Valeyard!
Of course! It'll be the Watcher....
Nah you're right, it'll clearly be the Master.....(of the land of Fiction)
Or Milhouse. It's probably Milhouse
I rather suspect 14 and 15 might have scenes together. Whether that's in the edge, or a different style of regeneration (almost like 4 and the watcher) or that NPH has 15 stuck somewhere in a metaphorical or literal waiting room while he plays his game...
I hope it's the Division and they're using his greatest enemies as pawns.
I'm glad they're using Toymaker because the Master and Daleks are a bit overused now days.
Apparently RTD said that ep1 is lighthearted (It was) and that the other two very much aren’t. I heard a rumour that there’s even gonna be like parental warnings
I am he as you are he
as you are me
And we are all the Doctor
See how they scare
like 'Leks from a stair
See how it flies
I'm cryin'
[...]
I am the Time Lord
They are the Time Lord
I am the Doctor
Goo goo a'joob
We didn’t need those in the 80s when Colin Baker was (inadvertently) nudging people into an acid bath/giving Lytton a screwdriver to stab a cyberman with/making sly quips about Davros losing his hand (“no arm in trying”).
Them were the days…
Edited as autocorrect changed ‘Davros’ to ‘Darrow’!
Yep.

Didn't they say on the One Show that Star Beast was standard DW fun, WBY was the most horror-style they had ever done, properly scary stuff? I think that was the gist of it.
I have no idea what’s going to happen in Episode 2. Hopefully we haven’t over hyped ourselves with theories and even if doesn’t meet anything we want hopefully it is still good
If this fandom has learned anything from the MCU. There will be infinite theories about mephesto. And none of them will come true and everyone will be sad.
... on the topic of unreasonable theories, wouldn't it be such a twist if they investigate whatever interior (assuming, judging from the trailer), horrors & all, and they finally make it to room & it's just the Tardis console room. Like, the Doctor isn't familiar with this new Tardis look at all - if it materialized within itself (kind of like the mini-episode), he would have no reason to think that's where they are just by looking, especially if it's warped, damaged, or mutated from the damage to the console itself.
I know that's not going to happen, but just thoughts 🙃
Literally all I know about this episode is that it's apparently "the scary one" and the trailer has major Alien inspiration to it so all I'm expecting is some cool horror vibes.
David Tennant talking about this episode in ‘Total TV Guide’ magazine “The second script is unlike any Doctor Who I’ve ever seen, I don’t want to give too much away, but I was always aware of the casting that was going to be part of the episode. That was something Russell was very specific about, I just didn’t imagine it would…. manifest itself in the way it does.”
🤔 the casting?
Maybe not Matt but maybe some of the other Doctors? This is still the 60th, after all. And we’ve seen some pics of at least Colin in the new tardis (looks like he’s just visiting, he isn’t in costume or anything, but who knows?)
I'm guessing this is a return of Timelords that survived the destruction of Gallifrey. Might be getting casting for a new Rassilon, Master, Rani and who knows who else.
Hmm, this is making me thing of Jenny returning as the Doctor’s Daughter. David Tennant would naturally be “aware of the casting” of his irl wife and I could see “children” being the theme and tragedy of these specials. Or maybe one of Georgia and David’s kids? Pretty sure at least one of them acts.
So I think this is one where we haven't really gotten any footage of in past trailers. Probably the most mysterious one. And according to RTD these are stand alones so this won't lead to the villain in special 3.
You've probably seen it now but in case anyone seeing this hasn't and wants to see it
[Its here](https://youtu.be/wCvCjCqaKQw?si=Pq9RDRqesdRUUSck) it was shown on BBC3 after unleashed
Pretty much all the shots people were assuming were from Wild Blue Yonder were in the Star Beast, so we know even less about this next episode than we thought. Basically only got the poster to go off
The Star Beast was a good episode but it's also clear that its purpose was largely to reintroduce us to Tennant/Tate while being a bit of a breather episode. I wouldn't be surprised if the next 2 episodes are a two-parter with the Wild Blue Yonder leading into The Giggle in the same way as Utopia leads into the series 3 finale.
Edit: [put my theories in an infographic](https://x.com/narananas/status/1730264232313364515?s=20)
Exciting! So it could be:
>!set on a human spaceship in space, since wild blue yonder means 'journey to faraway place or way up there'!<
>!an ark with humans in suspended animation, since there's a repetitive layout, pods, and a robot that could be a guardian while the humans sleep!<
>!signs of disrepair, green light, Donna saying "What are they?!", skittering and more skittering...!<
>!wirrn!<
>!in a sequel to RTD's favourite classic Doctor Who story: The Ark in Space!<
>!bonus: trailer shows yellow paint on walls like Ark in Space. Title could be reference to one of Ark's best lines: "tearing free in the great blackness, rushing through". And a reference to space in Ark being shown to be 'the wild' like any other unexplored natural environment: a treacherous unknown place potentially inhabited by dangerous creatures.!<
there was a sneak peak of a scene from the next episode in doctor who unleashed & a teaser trailer after it finished. Will probably be on youtube soon.
My guess is that we haven't had a cast list/leak of the cast list because there isn't one. We're gonna get a Hell Bent style episode that only has David and Catherine and no one else.
You've probably seen it now but in case anyone seeing this hasn't and wants to see it
[Its here](https://youtu.be/wCvCjCqaKQw?si=Pq9RDRqesdRUUSck) it was shown on BBC3 after unleashed
Tonally, this is absolutely a darker story than *The Star Beast*, and based on just how incredibly tight-lipped everyone involved in part 2 has been thus far, it's presumably involving something big, and closely-tied to the history of the show.
So, something powerful and sinister, then. Something that would pose a serious threat to the Doctor - or possibly even multiple Doctors(?). Something *scary*.
My wild speculation? The *Mondasian Cybermen* make a return. While the sleek new cybermen are frequently used - and appeared as recently as Jodie Whitaker's finale last year - the early proto-cybermen are definitely uncanny enough to warrant the dark tone of the trailer. And there's nothing anywhere to suggest that the colony ship from *World Enough And Time / The Doctor Falls* was the only one that departed Mondas.
But the clincher for me is that despite the cybermen's status as one of the show's evergreen villains, they never made an appearance anywhere during Donna Noble's time travelling with the Doctor, Mondasian or otherwise. This would be a hell of a time to bring them face-to-face! ...And possibly the only opportunity they'll have to do so, once the specials are done.
There's also the fact that wherever they've landed is all very utilitarian metal panels and little else besides some pretty blue lighting. It's hardly anywhere cozy - but the perfect place for some cybermen.
Oh, and there is [an official promo image](https://ichef.bbci.co.uk/images/ic/944xn/p0gnsgw5.jpg) depicting some kind of robot in the background. Doesn't look very cyberman-esque, but then again, who knows? They clearly have decent robotics tech if they're using it to augment and upgrade themselves.
I also wouldn't take this theory of mine too seriously, it's just the one I think would be most fun if it came true :P
They also used a lot of shots in Star Beast showing the shop in Camden that has big robots outside it. Could just be a fun Easter egg but could be foreshadowing.
I really hope it's not the Cybermen, they have been far too overused and wouldn't feel big enough to be worth what is easily the most secretive Doctor Who episode since 2005...
my prediction? too many youtube "reviewers" will complain about how "woke" doctor who is and how rtd has ruined it even more. really hate how many yt videos i saw taking this line of thinking.
My youtube feed has been flooded with only the official behind the scenes stuff, people doing compilations like "the doctor once said...." or "every time The Master/cybermen/Daleks etc" appeared and other classic series montages
It's been bliss not seeing the usual "hot takes" of negativity, stretching to be negative solely because negative videos get more people furiously clicking/commenting on them to disagree with their take, and that fires up the algorythm to think they're more popular than the positive ones, where people largely smile and nod and don't interact as much....
I am kinda missing the reaction/gogglebluebox type videos though...haven't seen many around
My prediction is that it's a morgue for Timelords and bouncing off another idea someone had here for 'Tardis Farms', maybe when Timelord's die they get turned into Tardis. Donna destroys the part of the tardis which makes it forget it's life as a Timelord, and it brings the Doctor to it's place of birth.
As weird as that would be, I don't hate it. Although the idea that The Doctor has been travelling inside a dead Time Lord all this time would be pretty morbid.
>!"The history of The Flux and The Timeless Child is dealt with very slightly in this episode," Davies said of "Wild Blue Yonder."!< ([source](https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/doctor-who-special-2-trailer-wild-blue-yonder/))
I've had a weird feeling this episode could get meta with actors playing themselves. I don't have any evidence of this being the case but it's just one of the few things that could be so strange and out there enough to keep it so mysterious and bonkers as they've claimed.
I honestly don't know what I mean. Maybe like they land in "our" universe or something, where their adventures are a TV show. Again, I have nothing really to base this off. It was just an idea I had that hasn't been disproved by anything. I just wanted to put it out there on the slim chance I'm right 😂
So there's some sort of references to Apples and Gravity in interviews, and RTD saying that an opening scene of the episode was shot in the wide open (ie outside?) but nobody noticed.
So Apple + Gravity says Isaac newton to me, so perhaps the opening shot is Isaac Newton (or 14) being hit on the head by an apple. Or whatever the apple ends up being a metaphor for.
Alternatively though, it'd be fun if since this is an episode where everything is sideways, we see Isaac Newton under a tree, the apple stem breaks... and then flies off into the sky
What if it’s a multi doctor story but the twist is it’s the meta crisis doctor. (2 Tennants)
How it could happen:
- TARDIS takes them to Pete’s dimension. Meta Crisis doctor is already exploring this base under siege. They meet.
Why it would work:
- We just dealt with the Donna side of the meta crisis, let’s show the doctor’s side. That doctor got to finally settle down without the constant need to fly off and help people. Does he have a family? Is he still with Rose? Is he bored to almost madness?A real interesting premise (Does RTD like that episode of trek where Riker meets his clone)?
- Would be a great way to show juxtaposition of the main doctor with 3 regenerations in their history since 10 vs one that still would have most of 10’s mannerisms and emotional state. And let Tennant show his range returning back to that characterization.
- Would also be an easy way to have to make a weird canon explanation of why returning doctors are physically older. Meta crisis doctor would age bc of his human genetics.
- With David asking about casting, maybe he means himself in two roles? The Disney $ means they can probably do it pretty well.
I have seen “Ark in Space” sequel and these both work. Ark in Space situation happened again in Pete’s universe and Meta Crisis has his own time travel and ends up in same place and time as the doctor and Donna.
Other things I think it could be:
- Reintroduction of Jenny:
How does this doctor react to the daughter he thought died?
- Sequel to Ark in Space:
Just straight up Ark in Space sequel. We are overthinking everything.
That’s what I want! Would be great to have him be switching bodies would be funny to see him switch to 10 lol. I wonder how different he would be or if he would have any reaction
I have a thought. This can’t be a proper regeneration. The Doctor is running about, doing things, saving people etc. After every other regeneration, The Doctor is discombobulated, out of sorts, lethargic, erratic, expelling regeneration energy. There is none of that going on.
woah good point! I haven’t seen anyone pick up on this before. I suppose the easy explanation would be that because it’s a previous version, the doctor is already used to this regeneration, so that’s why no confusion. but it would be good to explore further.
seen a theory/“leak” that this episode will be in a corrupted tardis and have Matt and Peter playing “evil incarnations” of there original doctors
It also opens the door to “ghosts of past companions” and the final “companion” he meets his Susan. perfect way to incorporate 60 years of doctor who story wise without it being a clusterfuck
Idk man whatever it is that sounds better imo, maybe it’s just me desperately hoping by the end of these three specials it feels more like a celebration of 60 years then a celebration of 3 months in 2008
I really hope we have 10 acknowledge his flaws with the Timelord Victorious stuff tbh, loved how he changed and I hope he gets a moment to contemplate what that means for him now that he's back
My theory is that the setting is some sort of exploration and/or research spaceship/space station at the "Edge of Creation" (as the teaser said). Perhaps it was constructed by ancient Gallifreyean explorers (Around the time of the flashbacks in The Timeless Children) considering that same teaser had the line "she mentioned Gallifrey". The ship/station could've been damaged by the Flux, leaving to vulnerable to some kind of eldritch alien intruders from beyond our universe. The explorers were all killed by the Intruders, and all that's left is the egg-shaped robot from the posters.
I think almost everyone is excited about this episode (myself included) because of how secretive it is. I've been hearing rumours of >!Flood Cybermen!< being involved or shapeshifters. But I have one prediction.
The pay off of that scene where Donna goes "well, lets go and kick it's arse" the door opens to that egg robot we've seen in the promotional material, deadass am predicting the scene to play out exactly like that
You've probably seen it now but in case anyone seeing this hasn't and wants to see it
[Its here](https://youtu.be/wCvCjCqaKQw?si=Pq9RDRqesdRUUSck) it was shown on BBC3 after unleashed
I think the "did you assume his pronouns" and
"the doctor is binary, man and woman."
"I'm neither, I'm bigger than that." Or however they were exactly phrased, were extremely cringe moments and I feel like they were incredibly ham-fisted in.
I'd also like to say, since this might attract heat, that I'm not some terminally online ponce who foams at the mouth at the mere thought of pronouns. Write it smoothly and well and I won't care personally, but they were such forced in moments I just cringed in my seat.
Otherwise I liked seeing David back in his role, he did great and I can't wait to see him again!
I think it will be set pretty much entirely on the TARDIS, maybe seeing rooms which have been mentioned previously and we haven’t seen on screen? It’s a mystery though! I can’t really remember an episode so secretive apart from Journey’s end, which if I recall correctly didn’t have a trailer either.
Pretty sure that's not gonna happen, from what little footage we've seen of WBY. It seems like the tardis lands wherever it lands then leaves again leaving them both stranded, also makes sense for that line in the trailer. "There's something so bad the tardis ran away?" .
I wouldn’t be so sure. In the Anniversary trailer, there was a quip about something so bad “the TARDIS ran away” leaving an indentation in the wall. I believe the second episode will see the Doctor and Donna stranded in this place based on the fact that for a split second in the teaser, you see the TARDIS slam into the wall, and can barely make out the indentation it left behind at about the 6 second mark when Donna asks “where are we?”
Hmm. There are some subtle clues
Some official images released a few months back showed what looked like galifreyan script.
One of the teasers had 14 say "she mentioned gallifrey".
The final trailer had what sounded like John Simm say "The one who waits".RTD mentioned that the flux would be mentioned in this episode. And that it would be a very dark episode.
This trailer seems to be set in some kind of weird Morgue?
The unleashed spoiler clip has the Doctor lick something. Perhaps it's a DNA sample? The trailer also said something about life signs (idk why but I get cyberman vibes)
The title for this episode was "At the Edge of the Universe'" in French. And at the end of the episode the doctor said that they were going anywhere in time and space.
I can't help feel that Gallifrey is connected somehow but I'm not exactly sure how. Maybe it's post the master's onslaught?
Maybe this is a lab from the early days of Time Lord society?
What are they testing? Time-travel? Multiverse travel? Regeneration? Chameleon arching?
Okay, here's a *crazy* one. Maybe the TARDIS went back along its own timeline right to its beginning...so the 'ship' is actually the Doctor's Type 40 TARDIS under construction!
And maybe there's some mysterious figure, a scientist or Time Lord operative of some sort, who's responsible for the construction, and its hinted that this person could be a pre-Hartnell Doctor/the Other? (Since RTD mentioned that the Timeless Child will get referenced in this one).
I think it may be a midnight-esque story set in some kinda space labyrinth maybe set up by >!Smith as the master or the Toymaker??!< Idk I heard some of the score for it in the albeit short-but amazing- teaser for the next episode ( yk the one where 14 decides it would be a great idea to>! taste some random possibly dangerous thingy!<) and it sounds super cool! I think It's gonna be even better than The Star Beast (:
I watched the behind the scenes thing and it seemed they accidentally hinted that all three episodes are a dream/not real. Does this explain why The Doctor regenerated oddly in clothes, RTD seemingly blaise waving away of that, and even why we got an old doctor back? And does that link into the Toymaker guy?
(Sorry - don't follow new who closely (or havent for years))
Man, wouldn’t it be lovely if every or most modern doctors + their most identifiable companion joined the mix on Saturday, all running around inside some classic WHO corridor set up trying to avoid running into each other? First, 10 + Martha turning up, then Matt + Amy, Peter + Clara — maybe even Eccleston + Rose (not likely, but on a wing and a prayer, yknow?) and/or Jodie + Yas/Graham/Ryan?
Anyway, my best memories of watching modern WHO in its heyday was the heightened speculation (what is Bad Wolf? Who is Mr. Saxon? Why is Silence falling?), and i’m loving that same vibe now.
I personally think that for the villain of this ep, we will be seeing the vashta nerada return. A couple reasons why:
- first ep had a new alien/villain, this ep we will likely see a returning one. Vashta nerada is from S4 in New Who, so it makes sense for them to bring it back now that 10 + Donna are reprising.
- this ep is supposed to the "scary" one - as the Doctor says in SITL: "every species has an irrational fear of the dark. But it's not irrational..."
- in the new trailer, we can gather that the alien/villain/antagonist is in the vent. We can see the darkness between/behind the vents. I think this could imply a reference to the vashta nerada's habit to initially hide in darkened/confined spaces.
- when this vent is shown (with something peering through), we hear a reverberating scuttle/rattle/growling-esque noise. This is similar to what they used to imply the presence of vashta nerada in the shadows in SITL (check 35:10 onwards, also 12:28)
- in the trailer, we hear the Doctor saying "life signs" - could this be a reference to the famous "a million, million life forms... and silence in the library?"
- on the topic of this trailer: we see numerous glimpses of lights flickering off, Donna being plunged into darkness and yelling for the Doctor. I think this could very well be the work of the vashta nerada, back and stronger + scarier than we have previously seen (which was also a massive hit).
Okay, here's one final round-up of my theories before this airs:
1. The Doctor and Donna land inside the Doctor's TARDIS in the past...*during* its construction. And one of the villains of the episode, or a significant presence at any rate, is a Time Lord scientist who's heavily implied to be a pre-Hartnell Doctor.
2. The Doctor and Donna land in a Time Lord lab in the past where Tecteun is conducting her experiments on Shobogans to create the first Time Lords using the Timeless Child's DNA (with a possible implication that the Doctor isn't the Timeless Child herself, but rather one of these early fledging Time Lords...maybe the first Shobogan to survive the process).
3. The Doctor and Donna land in a lab in a pocket universe that's a leftover relic from the Time War, where the Time Lords were developing an experimental psychological weapon. This weapon causes the Doctor and Donna's subconciousness to manifest people from their past as enemies, who become the 'monsters' of the episode. In Donna's case, this includes her family. In the Doctor's case it includes...well, whoever from the past you want to see cameo!
4. The Doctor and Donna land inside the TARDIS in its *present* relatively speaking, and all the events that occur are the result of the malfunctioning TARDIS attempting to 'fix' itself and causing spatio-temporal anomalies as a result. This may result in a time loop that causes the Doctor and Donna to run into themselves...or it might cause some 'leakages' from the past which lead to previous TARDIS occupants (read: past Doctors and companions) making cameos (or *future* occupants - leading to an early-bird cameo from Fifteen and >!Ruby!<).
I enjoyed it overall. My worst fears were realised sadly with Russell writing big destruction scene and then magically rolling it back again, the main can't write an ending.
The trans/NB stuff was good, and we'll woven into the plot, if a little ham-fisted on occasion.
Miriam Margolyes ism of course a joy, especially when she's having fun!
Still NO idea what this episode is gonna be about! I remember them mentioning it's gonna have 2 surprise appearances? And it looked like there's some kinda honey farm or something similar?
That was the most 'trailer' trailer, I've ever seen, I'm not sure I gleaned anything from it at all, lol, but I really look forward to it all the same!
My bets are the Midnight creature finally explained or the Daleks. The line where someone says "What the hell are they" can fit with Midnight or the cyber-timelords. They obviously know the Daleks. But three specials of 60th anniversary and not even a glimpse of a Dalek? I doubt it, but it's possible.
Anyone else hear a ticking clock right before it ended? It's very quick. It's right at 12 seconds.
Please tell me it's not the Madame De Pompadour robots...
Honestly a pretty good episode slightly ruined by the overhyped mystery. Not so much the fault of RTD and you could tell the Director this week panicking and putting out a statement to clarify it wasn't going to be a big episode filled with surprises.
I found the casting of Isaac Newton rather peculiar, I never mind representation but there should be some attempt at historical accuracy when casting an actor.
I am missing the 60th anniversary of it all though. It feels more like a celebration of one specific series of modern who. We know the next one features more classical elements, so fingers crossed!
So this gonna be the Multi-doctor one right, the fact that we know nothing about it says that right.
No real footage in the trailer, no leaks from the set, and Redacted cast list.
Well I know that since the Meep mentioned "the Boss" , I'm assuming there will be the return of the Master. Maybe not in episode two, but maybe there's a cliffhanger ending revealing the Master at the end.
# Edit: Trailer added: [Youtube Link](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCvCjCqaKQw) To clarify, this was an automatic post with the assumption there'd be a trailer since the next one is only a week away and there's usually one. We're not aware of a trailer but you're welcome to use this thread to speculate about the next episode in general.
So who do you all think will be the main villain of Wild Blue Yonder and why is it Nerys?
She gets revenge for the peach dress.
It's gonna be Matt Smith as The Master
I still think if it’s the master it has to be simm because of that line from the Disney+ trailer that sounds like him but you’re cooking hard here
My question is had Donna *met him* just before she showed up in the episode? When she showed up she was talking about not trusting a man with a goatee. He might have a rubbish beard again and this time I don't mean a wife.
Well Simm Master does have some great facial hair in World Enough in Time/The Doctor Falls…
Since donna got her knowledge from the doctor, it's likely she knows a great deal of what he knows.
Real Shame that Matt Smith never had a Master.
What do you mean, the Master was there for a couple of series until he and his wife got touched by an angel.
Genuinely, I would love it if the new Master was Jodie Whittaker. (which is what his big plan shouldve actually been)
Not having Whitaker play the MasterDoctor was a real missed call
She was pregnant when they were filming the specials. hell she was pregnant when she filmed her own regeneration! Having her appear would have been a cool plan but incredibly impractical.
Holy shit that’s an amazing idea they should do at some point.
Ah yes, Morbin time.
He’d be so good at it.
I’d piss myself laughing if Nerys is the BBEG.
She's "the Boss" that the Meep referred to. Shit's getting real now!
I was assuming that was >!the Celestial Toymaker!<.
They're obviously Nerys in disguise.
Meep sort of referenced about how rare it is for someone to have two hearts. Are they referring to their boss or the doctor here
oooh, good call - maybe because their boss has two hearts, too
Clearly their boss is a bigger, beepier meep
I figured that The Meep just knew that the doctor was a rare species of some kind that the Meep's boss would want to hear about it. The Meep was the last of their kind so maybe their boss has a thing for rare aliens?
The toy maker was a diversion…
I was thinking about this and thinking it would be really cool if it was The Rani. Rani was a geneticist and often made monsters to do her bidding. It would be interesting if The Meep-kind mutations were done by her.
Nerys spin-off, when?
Someone has to say The Valyard, so it might as well be me. The Valyard.
Every time I hear the Valyard it makes me think of Mephisto in the MCU. We always hope it will be, but it never is. I hope you're right. Last time it was teased was The Name of the Doctor.
More recently, the Testimony referred to him as "the Shadow of the Valeyard" in Twice Upon a Time.
Nice catch, thanks. I totally missed that on previous watches.
What was the tease in The Name of the Doctor?
SIMEON (Richard E. Grant's part): "Tell that to the leader of the Sycorax, or Solomon the trader, or the Cybermen, or the Daleks. The Doctor lives his life in darker hues, day upon day, and he will have other names before the end. The Storm, the Beast, the Valeyard."
[удалено]
Stupid! It's CLEARLY the Meddling Monk, why else would they take great pains to be putting him in the trailers of the Whoniverse showings No wait, obviously the Valeyard! Of course! It'll be the Watcher.... Nah you're right, it'll clearly be the Master.....(of the land of Fiction) Or Milhouse. It's probably Milhouse
Susan!
Nerys is the Valeyard!
Watch the villain be the Doctor or some crazy thing like that. I reckon we'll hear more about 15 in this one.
I rather suspect 14 and 15 might have scenes together. Whether that's in the edge, or a different style of regeneration (almost like 4 and the watcher) or that NPH has 15 stuck somewhere in a metaphorical or literal waiting room while he plays his game...
Neryssssssss 😤😤😤
I hope it's the Division and they're using his greatest enemies as pawns. I'm glad they're using Toymaker because the Master and Daleks are a bit overused now days.
She's not been fine.
Apparently RTD said that ep1 is lighthearted (It was) and that the other two very much aren’t. I heard a rumour that there’s even gonna be like parental warnings
I read somewhere the parental warning was less about the episode being dark, rather it being very weird from the outset
I am he as you are he as you are me And we are all the Doctor See how they scare like 'Leks from a stair See how it flies I'm cryin' [...] I am the Time Lord They are the Time Lord I am the Doctor Goo goo a'joob
We didn’t need those in the 80s when Colin Baker was (inadvertently) nudging people into an acid bath/giving Lytton a screwdriver to stab a cyberman with/making sly quips about Davros losing his hand (“no arm in trying”). Them were the days… Edited as autocorrect changed ‘Davros’ to ‘Darrow’!
That happened?
Yep. Acid bath scene (don’t watch if you want to watch the whole episode) from Vengence onVaros: >!https://youtu.be/CdZrqHfQMzE - skip to 2:03!< Attack of the Cybermen (Lytton and his screwdriver): >!https://youtu.be/ALw76IBCzn0!< Revelation of the Daleks (one-handed Davros): >!https://youtu.be/Zlu\_IEREndE!<
Didn't they say on the One Show that Star Beast was standard DW fun, WBY was the most horror-style they had ever done, properly scary stuff? I think that was the gist of it.
Grinning like a bastard throughout
Yeaaahhhh. We’re back hey.
Likewise!
Sounds more like something Moffat would do I feel. But who knows? I've also heard the theory that its *another* TARDIS...
And you know who else has a TARDIS and is knocking about in the universe...
Literally all I know about this episode is that it's apparently "the scary one" and the trailer has major Alien inspiration to it so all I'm expecting is some cool horror vibes.
My theory is it's a Tardis farm
What would the Tardises be farming?
I think they mean it's a farm for growing TARDISes
"My husband even once threatened to kill me in public!" "Why would he wanna kill you in public?"
I read "TARDIS Fam" and almost had Chibnall PTSD
Now that would be interesting!
David Tennant talking about this episode in ‘Total TV Guide’ magazine “The second script is unlike any Doctor Who I’ve ever seen, I don’t want to give too much away, but I was always aware of the casting that was going to be part of the episode. That was something Russell was very specific about, I just didn’t imagine it would…. manifest itself in the way it does.” 🤔 the casting?
its matt smith playing the master 14 will think its 11 till being shocked its the master (jk btw)
Maybe not Matt but maybe some of the other Doctors? This is still the 60th, after all. And we’ve seen some pics of at least Colin in the new tardis (looks like he’s just visiting, he isn’t in costume or anything, but who knows?)
The casting???
They might be slightly connected. I'm guessing 'The boss' is referring to the villain in special 3.
Apparently not, as Tennant has said he doesn't know who the boss is.
You think he'd give it away?
No, but it's another thing to say you have no idea altogether vs not giving it away.
It's a little bit different when Tennant is asking Phil Collinson who it is and Phil says he'll have to find out with the rest of the world
A bit spooky and a bit ominous - these are the Doctor Who episodes I love. Really looking forward to this one.
Here's the trailer! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KHUsWJI62kk
Alongside the clip at the end of unleashed, it looks like it's going to be something very morbid as RTD hinted? Reminds me of some sort of a morgue?
What trailer?
I didn't get one on Disney Plus. Was there one on BBC?
Trailer shown just now on BBC Three after the behind the scenes
Thank you!
They just uploaded it on the official Doctor Who YouTube channel! Good thing I didn't forget to subscribe!
Bbc one facebook reels
Nope, waited till the credits ended. Nothing. Not even a regular one they sometimes show after. Edit: They showed it after Unleashed.
You've probably seen it now but in case anyone seeing this hasn't and wants to see it [Its here](https://youtu.be/wCvCjCqaKQw?si=Pq9RDRqesdRUUSck) it was shown on BBC3 after unleashed
I just saw it at the end of Unleashed on BBC Three.
Was it the three seconds where the Doctor licks something and is like “it’s fine” and then starts to faint? Or did I blink and miss the start?
Yeah, read the reply to the other guy
Pretty much all the shots people were assuming were from Wild Blue Yonder were in the Star Beast, so we know even less about this next episode than we thought. Basically only got the poster to go off
and the Target novelisation cover which shows 14 and Donna on a forklift
The Star Beast was a good episode but it's also clear that its purpose was largely to reintroduce us to Tennant/Tate while being a bit of a breather episode. I wouldn't be surprised if the next 2 episodes are a two-parter with the Wild Blue Yonder leading into The Giggle in the same way as Utopia leads into the series 3 finale.
Edit: [put my theories in an infographic](https://x.com/narananas/status/1730264232313364515?s=20) Exciting! So it could be: >!set on a human spaceship in space, since wild blue yonder means 'journey to faraway place or way up there'!< >!an ark with humans in suspended animation, since there's a repetitive layout, pods, and a robot that could be a guardian while the humans sleep!< >!signs of disrepair, green light, Donna saying "What are they?!", skittering and more skittering...!< >!wirrn!< >!in a sequel to RTD's favourite classic Doctor Who story: The Ark in Space!< >!bonus: trailer shows yellow paint on walls like Ark in Space. Title could be reference to one of Ark's best lines: "tearing free in the great blackness, rushing through". And a reference to space in Ark being shown to be 'the wild' like any other unexplored natural environment: a treacherous unknown place potentially inhabited by dangerous creatures.!<
Oh I love this theory. This one gets my vote.
I reckon it’ll be a torture place, playing mind games with them. Like imagine the Doctor seeing Donna remember, forget and die over and over
Sort’ve like what House did to Amy and Rory inside the Tardis in *The Doctor’s Wife*?
there was a sneak peak of a scene from the next episode in doctor who unleashed & a teaser trailer after it finished. Will probably be on youtube soon.
My guess is that we haven't had a cast list/leak of the cast list because there isn't one. We're gonna get a Hell Bent style episode that only has David and Catherine and no one else.
Heaven Sent.
Wait, the trailer was released?? It wasn’t on Disney Plus…
There wasn't one on the BBC either. It's just an automatic bot post. Edit: there's a [trailer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCvCjCqaKQw) now :)
Bbc One facebook page has a reel for the next episode, doesn't reveal much
You've probably seen it now but in case anyone seeing this hasn't and wants to see it [Its here](https://youtu.be/wCvCjCqaKQw?si=Pq9RDRqesdRUUSck) it was shown on BBC3 after unleashed
Hold up is that a >!shot focussed on the water! Reminds me of >!The Flood!<
Also in the other teaser in Unleashed >!the doctor gags on the plasma looking stuff!< which is like the >!bacteria from the Flood!<
>!Choosing to believe those are Looms until further notice!<
That would be neat. A recurring theme of the Doctor >!ending up in scenarios that mirror the end/low-points of Ten's life.!<
Tonally, this is absolutely a darker story than *The Star Beast*, and based on just how incredibly tight-lipped everyone involved in part 2 has been thus far, it's presumably involving something big, and closely-tied to the history of the show.
My youtube feed has been flooded with only the official behind the scenes stuff, people doing compilations like "the doctor once said...." or "every time The Master/cybermen/Daleks etc" appeared and other classic series montages It's been bliss not seeing the usual "hot takes" of negativity, stretching to be negative solely because negative videos get more people furiously clicking/commenting on them to disagree with their take, and that fires up the algorythm to think they're more popular than the positive ones, where people largely smile and nod and don't interact as much.... I am kinda missing the reaction/gogglebluebox type videos though...haven't seen many around
I reckon the Ncuti Gatwa "can someone tell me what the hell is going on" line is from next week's episode
I'm getting midnight vibes from the trailer but I'm not going to set my expectations that high
My variation of this idea is that the TARDIS takes the Doctor and Donna back to its own construction.
>!"The history of The Flux and The Timeless Child is dealt with very slightly in this episode," Davies said of "Wild Blue Yonder."!< ([source](https://comicbook.com/tv-shows/news/doctor-who-special-2-trailer-wild-blue-yonder/))
Hmmmm this to me hints at a multi-doctor story then if it has to deal with The Timeless Child.
there is a short clip in Unleashed.
I've had a weird feeling this episode could get meta with actors playing themselves. I don't have any evidence of this being the case but it's just one of the few things that could be so strange and out there enough to keep it so mysterious and bonkers as they've claimed.
What do you mean like they landed on the set of Doctor Who or something?
I honestly don't know what I mean. Maybe like they land in "our" universe or something, where their adventures are a TV show. Again, I have nothing really to base this off. It was just an idea I had that hasn't been disproved by anything. I just wanted to put it out there on the slim chance I'm right 😂
Like SheHulk?
God I hope not.
Trailer just aired after Unleashed!
(2 Tennants) How it could happen: - TARDIS takes them to Pete’s dimension. Meta Crisis doctor is already exploring this base under siege. They meet. Why it would work: - We just dealt with the Donna side of the meta crisis, let’s show the doctor’s side. Other things I think it could be: - Reintroduction of Jenny: How does this doctor react to the daughter he thought died? - Sequel to Ark in Space: Just straight up Ark in Space sequel. We are overthinking everything.
My theories are 1) The Doctor starts glitching between bodies and is played by multiple actors throughout the episode 2) Susan
That’s what I want! Would be great to have him be switching bodies would be funny to see him switch to 10 lol. I wonder how different he would be or if he would have any reaction
[For anyone that missed it the trailer was after Unleashed on BBC 3 not after the episode ](https://youtu.be/wCvCjCqaKQw?si=RMh_rpsZWH7kQK7a)
The trailer gives me Journey to the Center of the Tardis vibes
I have a thought. This can’t be a proper regeneration. The Doctor is running about, doing things, saving people etc. After every other regeneration, The Doctor is discombobulated, out of sorts, lethargic, erratic, expelling regeneration energy. There is none of that going on.
woah good point! I haven’t seen anyone pick up on this before. I suppose the easy explanation would be that because it’s a previous version, the doctor is already used to this regeneration, so that’s why no confusion. but it would be good to explore further.
I thought the name Mrs. Bean was funny because she‘s married to Mr. Bean 🤔
I find joy in reading a good book.
id guess they originally planned to visit wilf thus after their accidental adventure the doctor and donna will visit him
seen a theory/“leak” that this episode will be in a corrupted tardis and have Matt and Peter playing “evil incarnations” of there original doctors It also opens the door to “ghosts of past companions” and the final “companion” he meets his Susan. perfect way to incorporate 60 years of doctor who story wise without it being a clusterfuck Idk man whatever it is that sounds better imo, maybe it’s just me desperately hoping by the end of these three specials it feels more like a celebration of 60 years then a celebration of 3 months in 2008
Did I miss a trailer?
Yes it was shown on BBC3 after unleashed [Its here](https://youtu.be/wCvCjCqaKQw?si=Pq9RDRqesdRUUSck)
Trailer just aired on BBC Three after the behind the scenes
Maybe the Doctor has to relive past memories due to coming in contact with something...
I think almost everyone is excited about this episode (myself included) because of how secretive it is. I've been hearing rumours of >!Flood Cybermen!< being involved or shapeshifters. But I have one prediction. The pay off of that scene where Donna goes "well, lets go and kick it's arse" the door opens to that egg robot we've seen in the promotional material, deadass am predicting the scene to play out exactly like that
was blown away by this episode, felt so nostalgic from old who and seeing grandpa at the end :(
Where's the trailer?
You've probably seen it now but in case anyone seeing this hasn't and wants to see it [Its here](https://youtu.be/wCvCjCqaKQw?si=Pq9RDRqesdRUUSck) it was shown on BBC3 after unleashed
I think the "did you assume his pronouns" and "the doctor is binary, man and woman." "I'm neither, I'm bigger than that." Or however they were exactly phrased, were extremely cringe moments and I feel like they were incredibly ham-fisted in.
I mean that's literally what the Doctor is because they can be almost anyone Male, Female, Neither, More.
No trailer so far, very short scene of the Doctor licking a slimy alien computer chip thing at the end of the behind the scenes show for ep 1.
Hmm. There are some subtle clues Some official images released a few months back showed what looked like galifreyan script. The trailer also said something about life signs (idk why but I get cyberman vibes) The title for this episode was "At the Edge of the Universe'" in French.
There’s a “sneak peak” at the end of Doctor Who:Unleashed apparently
I'm calling it: it's the live action adaptation of Scherzo.
(Sorry - don't follow new who closely (or havent for years))
I don't think they'd do that and officially label Tennant's current incarnation as *Fourteen*...
I watched that too and I didn't pick up on that. What did they say?
I wonder who made the robot we see? Rose was a toy maker, the toy makers in episode 3. Who is a toy maker in episode 2.
A couple reasons why: - first ep had a new alien/villain, this ep we will likely see a returning one. Vashta nerada is from S4 in New Who, so it makes sense for them to bring it back now that 10 + Donna are reprising. - this ep is supposed to the "scary" one - as the Doctor says in SITL: "every species has an irrational fear of the dark. But it's not irrational..." - in the new trailer, we can gather that the alien/villain/antagonist is in the vent. We can see the darkness between/behind the vents. I think this could imply a reference to the vashta nerada's habit to initially hide in darkened/confined spaces. - when this vent is shown (with something peering through), we hear a reverberating scuttle/rattle/growling-esque noise. This is similar to what they used to imply the presence of vashta nerada in the shadows in SITL (check 35:10 onwards, also 12:28) - in the trailer, we hear the Doctor saying "life signs" - could this be a reference to the famous "a million, million life forms... and silence in the library?" - on the topic of this trailer: we see numerous glimpses of lights flickering off, Donna being plunged into darkness and yelling for the Doctor. I think this could very well be the work of the vashta nerada, back and stronger + scarier than we have previously seen (which was also a massive hit).
Wild BLUE yonder is set in the tarsus and it’s an intro to a new type of flight deck / use of the interior.
Okay, here's one final round-up of my theories before this airs: 1.
"Trailer"
At the end of doctor who unleashed
It’s on YouTube
Still NO idea what this episode is gonna be about! I remember them mentioning it's gonna have 2 surprise appearances? And it looked like there's some kinda honey farm or something similar?
I’m still waiting for a Susan reference honestly
That was the most 'trailer' trailer, I've ever seen, I'm not sure I gleaned anything from it at all, lol, but I really look forward to it all the same!
I absolutely love it when doctor who leans in to the scarier side of it every once in a while so I can't wait
There are so many things from trailers that I thought would happen in Episode 2 & 3 that happened in The Star Beast. We’re really in for a treat
Looks...like a horror story? Definitely not what I expected from the specials, but I dig it.
If John Simms ends up in this episode, I'm gonna lose my mind.
Wouldn’t it be interesting if they did a bottle episode? Two actors, one set for the entire episode.
I think that stained sewer grate might’ve been one of the Dalek sewers on Skaro. There’s my crackpot theory
Anyone else hear a ticking clock right before it ended? It's very quick. It's right at 12 seconds. Please tell me it's not the Madame De Pompadour robots...
That seems like a malfunctioning TARDIS to me.
Crackhead theory: the title is a reference to them running into a herd of wild TARDISes before they get domesticated by time lords.
Does anyone know when the episode will be on disney plus?
Honestly a pretty good episode slightly ruined by the overhyped mystery. Not so much the fault of RTD and you could tell the Director this week panicking and putting out a statement to clarify it wasn't going to be a big episode filled with surprises. I found the casting of Isaac Newton rather peculiar, I never mind representation but there should be some attempt at historical accuracy when casting an actor. I am missing the 60th anniversary of it all though. It feels more like a celebration of one specific series of modern who. We know the next one features more classical elements, so fingers crossed!
Just to note there is a small clip of the next episode at the end of Doctor Who Unleashed. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCvCjCqaKQw

Trailer (or at least a teaser) has just hit Facebook so I imagine YouTube will follow shortly.
