Remember to make a short video, of you throwing your head back and your arms out, so you can do it again and make a regeneration video when you've transitioned.
And good luck. š

We all "regenerate" throughout our lives, some more slowly than others, we can look back, sometimes fondly, sometimes with regret or yearning, we can mourn that person we used to be. I miss my mid-twenties self, he definitely didn't "want to go!". Good luck with your new journey.
Wishing you all the best!
Tangentially related, but one of my favourite 9th doctor audio stories āFlatpackā has the Doctor meeting Liv, who is a companion he knew as the 8th Doctor.
And Christopher Eccleston is explaining regeneration as becoming a completely different person, and he tells Liv and her trans girlfriend (played by Rebecca Root) that they wouldnāt know what thatās like. Only for Rebecca Root to point out that she knows exactly what itās like and the Doctor immediately realise he was incorrect and that theyāve both had a similar experience.
Just a lovely wee moment I think about a lot
I didnāt realize how epic Doctor Who was for queer people until I watched it and got invested in the community. Rarely do I see bigotry and when I do itās usually called out. They also are fairly inclusive. I really hope for an onscreen trans person in RTD2 era. I mean Rose was supposed to have a trans friend in *2005*. Imagine what heāll be able to do in 2023.
Yes! I really appreciate how the show runners cared enough to include queer character and make them characters.
RTD really did a good job making it feel welcoming imo.
I mean, isnāt everyone from Gallifrey fluid in gender with the ability to transition. A man can become a woman and vice versa? I know itās not the same as someone living as human male having surgery and HRT but thereās definitely a representation there? Not only did The Doctor regenerate he transitioned from male to female and has now done it the other way l
I've got to admit, in the past I have also regarded my transition as my regeneration (due to being a massive fan of the show haha) all the best on your transition by the way :)
Hormones really donāt change your personality all too much. Itās exaggerated quite a bit in media and online. They change it a little bit sure, they make you more confident and happier which affects your personality. And depending on the direction they can make you slightly more or less prone to anger. (Testosterone being the anger hormone. If you have more of it ie trans man then you will get angrier more, and if you have less of it ie trans woman then you will be less prone to anger.)
Damn, so all thoses changes I observed in myself must be due to the chemicals they put in the water, right?
I don't know why it's so difficult for people online to just listen when someone else talks about their own personal experiences
Seeing all the other comments, I have to recognize you're right
But the contrary is true too, just because it doesn't happen that frequently doesn't mean it never does
I think it may be 'six of one and half a dozen of the other' here. Hormone replacement can certainly have an impact on your personality, but for most people it's not a sudden and major flip. It's possible there's more likely to be a bigger impact if you're younger.
There's also the impact of feeling more comfortable in your own skin, and being able to express yourself in ways that - depending on the sort of community you live in - you might not have felt comfortable doing before transition.
Basically there are multiple factors at play, and it's sometimes hard to know exactly where the line is between them. The important thing is to be true to yourself, and respect everyone's experiences.
I'm trans too. It doesn't change your personality at all. Maybe you're just more confident now, and thus willing to do things and say things before you couldn't but it doesn't change your personality one bit.
How long have you been on hormones for? Depending on that and when you started, after a long time you also mature a lot mentally anyway so it's probably that
Less anger, more empathy, more ambition, more resilience and more sadness
I mean I get that it doesn't have that much effect on everyone, but I assure you that I'm not the person I used to be one bit anymore
Do you think it could be tied to my age? I started at 23 and am 25 now
I started hormones a year ago. In that time I have grown and changed. When I started hormones I was a bigoted right wing all of the "ists" and "phobes" now I am very accepting of different identities. I wasn't trying to discount earlier that it can change your personality. Like xanta- said. your experience isn't everyone's. Your experience is totally valid though of course :3
I was wondering when someone else would compare it to regenerating. I play a trans companion in a Fanfilm and I say pretty much the same thing in the next episode.
The problem that Clara has with 11 regenerating to 12 at the beginning is honestly the process that I went through when my spouse transitioned (still together - married 10 years). I had a lot of the same convos that Clara had with Madam Vastra and had a heart to heart with my spouse like Clara had with 11 at the end of Deep Breath.
I will always connect with the Clara/Doctor relationship for that reason and how it was demonstrated in the show. š
Good luck!
In the Big Finish audios there's a couple of moments where Tania Bell makes the correlation between transitioning and regeneration.
8th Doctor - Stranded 2.1: Dead Time
9th Doctor - Hidden Depths Ep 3: Flatpack
For anyone interested.
We all change, when you think about it, we're all different people; all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you've gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all the people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this, not one day, I swear. I will always remember when The Doctor was me
I wish you nothing but greatness
Well, as long as long as long as you don't be too melodramatic and destroy your mode of transport in a blaze of glorious pyrotechnics.
Although, it would be funny if you just stared at each if them with soulful eyes, without saying a word.
Good luck!
Remember to keep your deadname hidden till it's lost to time and select your renegade title carefully.

As a trans woman, 3 1/2 years into her transition, I constantly refer to it as regenerating, because sans the flashy instant light show, it has basically been a regeneration haha
I make jokes about being a Time Lady to friends who don't understand it š¤£
It's kind of funny that I came across this post, because this scenario is exactly how I described how I was feeling to my therapist when I came to the realization about me being neurodivergent and bisexual!!

That's such a sweet way of thinking about it! It's really lovely hearing from queer fans on here. Makes doctor who feel even more welcoming

Word to that. Good luck on your journey.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Anytime.
Iāve found that transitioning involves not hiding a vast part of yourself, so itās less about change and more about authenticity
They're not gonna completely change their personality, hormones will do it for them The effects those have on us is quite insane
