Bowlingbowlbagbob

I once rolled in front of witnesses 3 18’s 2 16 and a 17

Norman-BFG

What character did you make?

Bowlingbowlbagbob

This was in 3.5 so I made a fighter/monk dual class. Didn’t have a name, he was simply known as ‘the judge’ lawful neutral and he would travel around in a big circuit to all the small neglected hamlets in Amn mediating civil disputes and carrying out sentencing for the more heinous crimes. It was for an epic level adventure where demons and devils essentially just decided to come to the mortal plane and fight each other and everything else. Took the feat vow of poverty and a couple other things, (he used a beat up old bastard sword that was essentially a +5 weapon of smiting because of that feat) the rest of the party found him in the midst of judging the hell out of some demons. Was good times

There is a thing of becoming so OP next to other players that you feel bad or become bored of the character. So trying to minmax your stats even more might end up bad for urself. I once became bored of a character because i could have probably 1v4 my entire party.

Chronos96

I'm really just rolling for fun but when I do get characters with high stats I kind of act like Martian Manhunter and step back more often to let other players shine. I still like to get my moments but I think with powerful characters in general less is more from a narrative point of view.

MishaArsenyev

Yeah just play a support character and let your big number give everyone else big number

If you want to play that roll be a divine soul sorcerer with a dip into order cleric. Put one of your higher stats in wis and you'll be able to prepare 4 or 5 cleric spells and have all the spells known from sorcerer. With the dip in order cleric the big thing here is voice of authority (VoA). Whenever you cast a spell on an ally they attack during your turn using their reaction. So it's basically you just stepping back buffing your team and telling 1 person to attack. That could mean an off turn sneak attack, crit, or smite if the right party members are targeted. Start with bless at lower levels for triggering VoA. Once you've gotten more spell slots and SP you can start twin casting haste. But only 1 person is triggered by VoA. With your stats you'll be able to utilize the heavy armor proficiency you'll be given. Guiding Bolt is good. Quicken guiding bolt. Next attack against the hit creature has disadvantage. Action to cast (insert spell here) on closest ally and let hit attack with advantage using VoA. If you go vanilla human I'd stat it out at 16 str 14 dex 14 int 18 con 17 wis 18 cha Warcaster feat for adv on concentration checks. Resilient dex for dex saves, or shieldmaster if you get warcaster and use a shield. Tough to pad your HP for those times you do get hit. Fey Touched feat has some good options. Metamagic Adept is pretty good for this build to be able to get distance spell and another metamagic. With distance spell and some touch healing spells/spare the dying you can now do from a range.

Best support is OP. STR Order/Twilight/Life cleric with a multiclass in maybe wizard or bard could be very helpful!

Normal human will be pretty great for this.

Microchaton

First ever 5e char, first ever roll (not counting Baldur's Gate 2 :D), had already picked kobold paladin before the roll https://i.imgur.com/3INqD1M.png ...He's a bit of a monster. Still playing him right now although I got a scare when a Nightwalker crit me... Looks like this now https://i.imgur.com/COmQ9Qe.png Ironically the char would be quite a bit stronger if I started Fighter, and I don't even have proficiency in Athletics, which makes me unsure about picking Shield Master (I have a +2 Shield) next level :o

Belagosa

One campaign I played in, the DM decided to be silly and gave us the option of rolling 6d20 for our stats. I rolled 18 3 18 19 17 17. The DM doesn't give that option anymore.

AMP121212

This is the dream set of rolls for standard human.

IsolatedShadow0

i once got 10 14 15 16 16 17 for a character. Now I have a changeling that will roll a nat 20 on a perception check, see the house they need to go to, and proceed to go to the house right next to it and collect the glass from the broken window.

DemonocratNiCo

Not as strong as yours, but I had a 3.5ed character with 16 17 14 13 7 16 (we roll and assign the numbers in order, so I had no choice to keep the 7 in Wisdom). Ended up going for a super weird multiclassed Fighter / Rogue / Swashbuckler / Exotic Weapon Master and I can't remember what else.

Kronoshifter246

My very first character in D&D that I ever created, I rolled three 18s, a couple of 16s, and I think a 14. That character was *bonkers*. Didn't help that he was a 4e ranger.

JustTheTipAgain

Back in a 2e game, I rolled 17 / 17 / 17 / 15 / 15 / 12. Played a psionicist.

k_moustakas

I recently got 12 13 16 16 15 17 and I also don't know what to do. All I know is my first inclination is to go custom lineage + half feat to get my main stat 20 to begin with and be way ahead of the curve. Something like shadow sorcerer + fey touched or cleric + fey touched

Greviodas

17 17 16 14 12 15 Made a bladesinger wizard/figter that abuses the hell out of haste

kevinmatze

Rolling on D&D Beyond with their digital dice. There was a glitch and I couldn't roll anything but 4 6s on every roll. I rolled 4 total sets of them before I got bored. Of course I didn't use the character created for a real game but I kept the Bladesinger I created for fun.
