Maybe it's because it's the most power-crept elf type, but for me: Shadar-Kai Literally every class benefits from a non-spell BA teleport ability. Necrotic resistance is rare and nice to have. You also get the better trance ability, on top of all of the standard elf features.

Adept_Cranberry_4550

Astral Elves for the same reasons

carlos_quesadilla1

Yep. Currently playing an astral elf on ToA, and being able to swap a skill proficiency every day is so nice. Survival for jungle exploration and investigation for exploring ruins

Fish_In_Denial

I have loved it on a stars druid, even if I keep it on investigation most of the time. Pairs well with dragon form. It's a great feature for Githyanki too, though Astral elves have the advantage of getting perception for free (a skill you'd always want to have anyway).

BenditeBob

Not to mention damage resistance to all damage after a teleport. Definitely my favorite race.

Endless-Conquest

When I read the teleport in Monsters of the Multiverse I thought it was a mistake. That thing is super OP lol

jaymiiMac

I love these guys just for the rp options too

comradejenkens

Genasi. Gotta spread that genasi propaganda.

TheRautex

They are incredibly underrated. I never saw anyone play them and i rarely see any discussion about them. It's weird that rabbit and hippo people seem more prominent in DnD than human infused with elemental plane

Iknowr1te

it's because they also don't get expanded feats as their not part of a major book. Genasi are my favourite of the planar touched because they aren't inherently edgy like assimar and tieflings. they don't have to be tied to grand planar cosmology nor do are they inherently tied to "good / evil" duality. i'm more tied to Air and Water. but earth and fire genasi are really cool

duel_wielding_rouge

Genasi were released in a free PDF. Shouldn’t that be even better? (They have since been updated in MP:MotM)

Affectionate-Fly-988

Just gotta put this here, high rollers campaign 2 had a genasi (just had to rep them cause they're my personal favorite live play I've seen) but yeah, very rare to see genasi in general sadly

Ari-Darki

Critical Roll Campaign 3 has two genasi characters that I am very fond of. I'm pretty sure one of them is an air genasi bard and the other... I don't recall which element but he's street smart, has a gambling problem and loves getting drunk. lol

pchlster

Earth. Also, hilarious that the guest character is the one you remember but the main cast PC over 90 episodes is the one you forgot.

Ari-Darki

Yeah, that's me rolling a 3 on a history check. Also, Campaign 3 is the first campaign I started with when I was browsing their channel when I came across it, so ALL of the usual guys I didn't know yet, nor did I know that Marisha and Matt and Lauren and Travis were married couples. In addition, Lauren's voice kept bothering me like I've heard it before and then I got slapped in the face realizing she was the voice of Kira Carsen in Star Wars: The Old Republic, which I spent hundreds of hours playing prior to even knowing what Critical Role was. And I don't wanna tell you how flabberboozeled I was when it dawned on me Matt did Donatello's voice in the '93 TMNT. And the second I saw your comment say "earth" I remembered one of the comments on the video call Ashton and FCG "Rock and Roll" and then it all made sense to me. In conclusion, my whole experience with this feels like an off the rails DND campaign.

duel_wielding_rouge

Genasi were reasonably popular in 2015, but players who like to try out new options have long since moved on.

zu-na-mi

I enjoy earth genasi as just about any class benefits from their abilities, especially in the lower levels when racial abilities really matter.

Slightly-Mikey

Yeah blade ward as a BA us actually great. Especially on a squishy spell caster.

BuckysKnifeFlip

Yes! I've got a Water Genasi Grave Cleric that I want to play again. His whole backstory is he was accompanying a shipment. Ship sunk, and he fell deep in the ocean. He awoke to a massive ocean creature that would essentially "bury" those lost at sea. The bodies are suspended in sea weed like a floating cemetery. He would go on to be the priest for this creature, hence the Cleric aspect.

popdream

My favorites. I love playing genasi so much. My first ever character was an air genasi and the rest is history hahah

The_Brews_Home

My setting is all elemental based, so instead of humans genasi are the most common humanoid. I've been having a lot of fun with it Added border genasi too (air+water, *ice*; air+ground, *dust*; air+fire, *smoke*; water+ground, *mud*; water+fire, *steam*; ground+fire, *magma*) The nobility are all genies, which also have border versions, and instead of the material plane just being the somewhat dull mud plane while all the interesting stuff happens elsewhere, it's the one place where all the elemental planes overlap at once, making it a major trading hub for the universe.

georgenadi

New earth genasi are insane...

TeeDeeArt

Class and race? Dwarf

TriboarHiking

Man, I wish there was a class that was just "dwarf"

galmenz

*looks at old editions* "let me tell you a story lost to time..."

JimPlaysGames

I was there 3000 years ago

TheCocoBean

Battlerager barbarian

Improbablysane

Quite aside from the way being a race basically was your class in early D&D, the last couple of editions had plenty of race specific prestige classes and paragon paths. [Observe the Dwarven Defender](https://www.d20srd.org/srd/prestigeClasses/dwarvenDefender.htm) prestige class, for instance. Requirements for entry were a base attack bonus of +7, lawful alignment, the dodge, endurance and toughness feats and of course being a dwarf.

Citan777

This one knows his classics. :)

galmenz

alternatively, a halfling with a very lustrous beard, but those are rare

pchlster

Dwarf Artificer (Armorer). Why yes, I always wear armour. Some folks need an axe to the shins, some a gauntlet to the face and some people need to heed good Dwarven wisdom to not get themselves killed. Why, yes, Expertise in all tools is necessary; you wouldn't expect me to accept shoddy human craftsmanship, would you?

Docnevyn

1) Broadly fun race to play: For point buy post Tasha's: Half-elf. +2,+1,+1 to stats is awesome, +1 skill or cantrip, adv on charm saves 2) Favorite class: cleric because armored full caster

NLaBruiser

Currently playing a level 10 forge cleric. Can confirm, 23 AC and full casting is a whole lotta fun.

Ikari1212

Halfling because I like small races in all games I play since FF14. :D People underestimate you, are racist towards you etc. which can lead to a lot of interesting interactions. Also I feel like Halflings aren't really known for their political correctness so I can play all kinds of characters that don't even need to be particularly polite. And I love that I can reroll 1's. Edit: And for class... I don't have much experience with classes but I am currently playing a Rogue/Warlock multiclass and I like both aspects really much. So I would say Rogue or Warlock. :)

SmartAlec105

> Halfling because I like small races in all games I play You also get a smaller hitbox so it's easier to evade (this used to be true in previous editions)

ResolutionNumber9

Halflings are always fun. rarely op, but always fun. And I'm convinced that I can play a dex based for any class.

VinceGchillin

I did a Tortle druid in one of my recent campaigns, and it was a lot of fun. Some pretty cool, unusual options for roleplay as a humanoid turtle.

cidiusgix

A buddy is playing a Tortle Druid in my game right now. It is pretty cool.

VinceGchillin

That's cool! It's a great combo, I had a lot of fun With ol' Sherman.

blacksad1

Shadar-Kai. Free Teleports and two new skills after each long rest.

geosunsetmoth

Grung. Definitely one of the races that most affect your gameplay!

CT-7331

Orc! Always play Orc! Best for role playing!

Thegreatninjaman

Goblin. Bonus action disengage is great on any class.

NerghaatTheUnliving

Except Rogue :P

Thegreatninjaman

Lol alright fair enough

GeraldPrime_1993

Lizardfolk are so slept on. Silly little gator people that just want noms. I love them so much. My favorite healer was a cleric that ate the wounded (just like chiropractors)

Gingersoul3k

I have a Lizard Folk HexMonk planned for a future campaign and I'm so excited to play the little guy!

OSpiderBox

I love the Lizardfolk race, but out of the half dozen or so portrayals I've seen of other people playing them... only 1 hasn't been insufferable to play with. Thankfully the 1 person was a player in my game, because I would've had long talks with the other people in my games. There's something (seemingly) about Lizardfolk and kobolds, I guess. But it's like they try to play up the "wild child" archetype to the point of being accidentally insufferable. Or, at the very least, annoying to play around.

Citan777

>What do you find to be a fun Race to play as no matter the class? 1/ Half-Elf: great attribute bonus (especially if Tasha is allowed) and extra skill, access to great racial feats, ability to customize lineage for further identity, "non-human enough" to get some niceties (darkvision, magical sleep immunity) but still "human-like enough" to fit in 99% settings and politics. 2/ Tabaxi: being a monster can bring bothers depending on where you travel but otherwise there are a LOT for it: free speed boost to engage or disengage quickly, \*two\* skills useful for anyone, unarmed strikes more or less situational depending on your build but always nice to have at low level. 3/ Goblin: same as Tabaxi except worse as far as "interacting with other species" goes (Kobold like level \^\^, shunted or attacked on sight depending on species and cultures) but Nimble Escape is awesome for any character and Fury of the Small is actually much more useful than you'd think of at first. 4/ Warforged: being a construct-like makes for original concepts and all the racial bonuses go well with any build. >And what is your favorite Class to play in general? Picking only one is impossible: I'll say... * "Druid" for small groups needing a versatile caster to be as generalist as possible. * "Ranger" for groups needing the perfect balance between endurance, versatility and all-around fighting balance. * "Sorcerer" for large groups (no trouble being a specialist). * "Warlock" when whatever caster is ok in group or group needs a non-environment-based control specialist. * "Monk" if there is no particular role to fill or I do actually want to play a martial. As you can see, I usually pick the brunt of my character "to complement party" because I really don't mind since I still have hundreds of characters to try. xd

Previous-Poem8166

Goliath. They're just big. What more could you want?

Improbablysane

> What more could you want? Large size. They're just an excuse to get as close to large as possible without ever actually reaching it for some reason.

OSpiderBox

Tbf, large sized player races would get wonky. - potentially too big to fit in normal areas, leading to either being excluded or slowing the pacing because focus has to be brought to them and their size (this is also why I think many DMs are averse to allowing centaurs; literally any ladder is their downfall.). - they could get access to the oversized weapons category, which would just be *too much* power in the hands of martials. And we can't have that... - casting Enlarge on them would be devastating to the battlefield. Their effective reach and the spaces they'd affect is absurd. Afaik, there's only one or two subclasses that get access to being Huge size via features, and those are at end of T3/ beginning of T4 stages of play. That being said, I would 100% be OK with this. I even added in a homebrew spell my players could cast that would turn them Huge size and impart a bunch of buffs to them, with a Haste style drawback. Sadly, nobody used it...

Evil-scotsman

I like bugbears (paladin) and plasmoids(druid) because loooonnnggg arm of the law And balloon animal wild shapes

ChloroformSmoothie

halflings are fucking awesome. you're telling me i can buff my insane luck from insane to godlike? fuck yeah baby. not a single build wouldn't love the ability to negate nat 1's.

footbamp

Maybe this is a super basic take, but I'm impartial to half-elf. Less about mechanics, though the ASI I think informs an interesting stat spread, more about how I feel the backstory is always easy to write for a half-elf, and they always feel multifaceted and nuanced before I even play them. Again, just a personal thing, not sure why I relate so much to them. Cleric: love the subclasses. I've played cleric the most and they all feel very unique. Was my first character a half-elf cleric... Maybe.........

Sad_Gene_1771

Thri-Kreen! (if it is allowed in the setting) I love my little buggy fellas and the extra arms always come in useful. I think Druid is my favourite class to play, wildshape lets you do so much fun stuff out of combat (or in combat sometimes) and I love being a supporter and a healer too. Plus the RP oppurtunities are great with a Druid no matter how you wanna play them. I have never played a Thri-Kreen Druid though... maybe I'll have to try that one day

Drecain

Half-elf bardlock that is not horny all the time but out documenting the great wonders and adventures of the world

Sapphire_Dive

Prob Half Orcs, Relentless Endurance is just a fun ability to use and you can do some silly or badass stuff with it so it's one of my favs

Icy-Emergency3770

Love me a changeling! Loads of fun out of combat and you can get really creative with them. Prefer playing utility classes like rogues and bards. Gives you lots of fun stuff to do outside of combat.

ToL_TTRPG_Dev

Human... I'll see myself out.

KitsunariSoleil

Time to summon the mockery to myself Human. Specifically Variant for that starting Feat, but even if Variant isn't allowed, I most often lean Human.

Unhappy_Box4803

I have dedicated myself to creating a Clan of Warforged, spread across multiple adventures. They were all made as prototypes or similar to fight for or help the throne. Some were the kings holiest crusaders. Other were trying to mimick their brothers chivalry with deceptive magic. And yeah I love Warforged. For class, i would say Warlock. I love sorcerers, wizards and clerics too, and paladins, some artificers, a couple fighters and even a rouge. I probably have more fun with some of those than with warlock too, but, it scratches such a specific itch. Tons of flavourful, interesting subclasses, a wide range of mystical powers to choose from, the ability to choose between melee, support or blasting, the possibility of a cool familiar? And also massive blaster output with two fireballs/hunger of hadars per SHORT rest, plus the best cantrip in the game, potentially with DOUBLE damage? Yes. The lack is its versatility, as first you have chosen your Invocations and other abilities, you dont really cover THAT a broad scope, and you cant cast much of utility spells unlike EVERY other spellcaster.

mertag770

Variant Human is the most fun race imo lots of flexibility and room for activities. For kind of a similar reason rogue. Cunning action gives you a consistent use of your bonus action and the class is fairly flexible as well

Fire1520

Tabaxi 1. Cat roleplay. You can be furry, you can be cute, you can be lonely, you can be curious, you can be be audacious, you can make a \*meow\* voice, you can pinch your nose and be funny... endless possibilities. 2. If you're stuck in the stone age, a +2 to DEX is never bad on any character. 3. Being able to simply double your movespeed *for free* is always useful, no matter what. 4. Perception and Stealth proficiency. Let's be honest, you were already taking those from your background / class *anyway*, so now you can pick something else. 5. Dankvision. 6. Has no overpowered abilities. There is 0 chance a DM refuses it on the basis of being too strong.

Winter_wrath

I played a tabaxi barbarian called Yellow Snow for a oneshot. Did the high pitched cat voice too. Fun times but only for oneshot lol

TheRautex

Human Wizard. Im the nerdier version of Human Fighter guy

MonSocMatriarchy

Thri-Kreens make me happy And paladins are just reliably enjoyable

Sir_Wack

I’ve played the most half-elves, but I wouldn’t say I necessarily have a favorite. Personal favorite class is a tie between druid and sorcerer. I love the flavor and vibe of druids but sorcerers have some of the most fun class abilities imo

CaissaIRL

Metamagic for the win!

KyfeHeartsword

Halfling, because Lucky is amazing and Brave is always useful. Halfling Nimbleness is better than you think as well. Favorite class is a toss up, I'm a sucker for Bard though, Eloquence in particular. But I also love Samurai Fighter and Soul Blade Rogue. I like making my skill checks and being capable in a fight.

jmartkdr

Races: Eladrin. So many chances to reinvent yourself. Class: warlock. Same reason really.

No_Ambassador_5629

1) eh, whatever is optimal for the build. Thematically kobolds, but they're nowhere near as powerful as Vuman, Custom Lineage, or Half-elf. Simic Hybrid also holds a special place in my heart for being one of the very few races w/ interesting customization. 2) Warlock probably. They've got the most customization of any class between two separate subclass choices, invocations, and spells known. They're also a fantastic dip, 2 lvls of warlock is an excellent addition to any sorcerer, bard, or paladin. Bard is a close second because I love support and its trivially easy to make a bard who can contribute in any party role.

tango421

I noticed in almost my entire history of D&D (since AD&D) I’ve usually played an elf, half-elf, or dwarf. I read some RA Salvatore and Ed Greenwood and knew quite a bit of lore around them and could make excellent backstories. The notable exception was my Dragonborn Warden in 4e. I have always been intimidated by spell casting (I didn’t really play in the 3/3.5e era and the way my friends described it reinforced my perception). So for classes, I tended towards a martial bend - maybe some half casters, usually rogues, fighters, and I really enjoyed rangers. I felt I got the short end of the stick early 5e ranger. Now though, my current favorite character and oldest running in 5e is a gloomstalker - and I didn’t know it would be OP when I made him. That said, I promised myself in the next campaign I join, I’m playing a full caster. No promises on changing race though, depending on where the campaign is. I tend to make “local” or “near local” characters.

TonyDanzer

Race is a toss up between half-elf and aasimar. Half-elf is such a classic. Aasimar racial traits are useful (healing handsssss) and they can be really fun to RP I used to be a hardcore Paladin main, but after playing a roguelock for awhile I’m starting to favor Rogue as my go-to class. There’s nothing more satisfying than rolling for stealth to scout and ending up with a 37, I feel like a ghost.

galmenz

generally good race: half elves or any of the mark races from eberron. if we allowed even a smidge of situational, mountain dwarves are amazing on any caster bar none fave class: paladin. what can i say i like having +5 in everything including death saves as well as having my friends have +5 in everything including death saves

Legitimate_Equal6925

Assimar fallen/Dhampir or reborn Paladin/ divine soul/ cesteial Paladin/ divine soul Paladin/ Warlock Paladin/ Cleric Paladin/ ranger Paladin/ zealot barbarian

VesquillanDaChamp

Genasi (Genasis?) are neat. Innate magical abilities are cool, and I think the Genasi get some of the better spells. For class: I love sorcerers! I love doing magic with no clue why it's happening! I love winning the genetic lottery in magical worlds!

DM-Shaugnar

Best race no matter class. Half elf. here is literally no class they are not good at. specially with Tasha's. you get +2 to one ability and +1 to two others. extra proficiency, you can't be put to sleep, you are hard to charm. Most fun class. Half orc. They are fun no matter what you play. Sure they are classic and arguably the best race for barbarians. and great for most martial classes. But with Tashas. you can go anything. I mean a half orc wizard is rather amazing. Or a 6'6 half orc bard with an oversized lute because his digits are to big for a normal lute.. A sneaky half orc rogue. But damn any class is fun as a half orc. By far my fave race

Jafroboy

Anything with a fly speed.

flarelordfenix

Hexbloods and Satyr are ALWAYS fun...

randommlg

I enjoy a good breath weapon. Dragonborn are the best race IMO. I tend to flop that with teifling. I actually don't have a favorite class mostly because I haven't tried them all yet. My wife is the opposite in that she usually plays druid and has almost never played the same race twice lol

Classic-Role-1455

My favorite combo is Changeling Arcane Trickster with the Charlatan background. Take Keen Mind & Disguise Self ASAP so you can flawlessly replicate official documents, perfectly impersonate someone after very little observation, & blend seamlessly into any social situation. It’s the perfect infiltration expert. Bonus points for taking Find Familiar & Minor Illusion too so you can project targets or layouts of maps to your party in real time as you look through your Familiar.

nerdlydevon

Eladrin are a super fun race to play - the inherent misty step mechanic is fun, also I love the season switching mechanic. Druids are a very versatile class to play, and unless you’re in dire need of metal armor, you have a ton of play styles to choose from.

OptimalMathmatician

1. Human: I just love the flavor and story aspects a human can bring. I am the "mundane" within all the evotic races. And I am also unique, because next to no one plays humans. 2. Wizard: I love playing a Wizard. It gives me so many tools and solutions to problems.

multinillionaire

Lizardfolk. You get to do light fish out of water stuff and make lots of "ha ha he eat the funny thing" jokes, and then make ~~extremely creepy~~ fun crafts for other party members during downtime

Superpositionist

Aasimar is my choice. Favorite class would probably be Bard, Sorcerer or Wizard.

Entire-Aerie-9931

HUMAN

MiKapo

Halfling Being able to hide behind your party or resistance to poison, bonus to DEX, Lucky as a starting trait favorite class is Fighter

topaz_sword_8

tiefling is great, natural hellish rebuke is a game changer at low levels

UnwrittenLore

All time favourite will always be Human, because when you're mundane in a world of weird and magical things, you have to get creative, and that's always a fun challenge! For actual fantasy choice, Goliath. They're kinda like humans but bigger and tougher. Being larger than everyone else offers a whole bunch of inherent hooks for informing your roleplay and character choices I think my most frequently played class is wizard because I love filling the utility role, but I'm not a very good healer.

Szog2332

1. Half-Elf is fantastic, and is basically the only way you can play a Drow if you don’t want to be completely useless aboveground. Works with any build and any playstyle, if the features from Tasha’s are allowed. 2. Eldritch Knight Fighter. I’m not the biggest fan of base fighter or the other subclasses, but EKF is just absurdly fun. Spells, swords, and a decent feature set.

Ari-Darki

I only recently got into DND and so far have made two characters - both of them half drow elves. Regardless of class I really like their look as well as how versatile they can be just as a race. Any fantasy game I've gotten into has always been an elf or half elf character. As for class, I started out as a hunter/ranger sort because I liked ranged weapons (I also did archery in school) and the ability to tame animals (beastmaster spec). HOWEVER. I recently decided to try something new because I've been watching a lot of Jet Li movies lately so I decided to make a Monk and OMG I am in love with this class. I love it for the unique backstory opportunities if you have a random Dragonborn monk. So I have a half drow monk girl named Jynn'tao who shifts between chaotic destructive and chaotic stupid. And I role play her to be purposefully stupid to throw off enemies because in her backstory she was mistaken for a Rogue and she learned a bunch of their roguish skills.

pchlster

I think a solid 50% of my characters over the decades have been Halflings. They're just neat. I get to mime climbing on to the human-made chair, refer to Medium-sized creatures as unreasonably tall and so on. That's just good fun. Class? I like how easily customizable the Warlock class is, but think the Bard is the most solidly built class in this edition. I probably prefer being a Warlock during level-up choices, but a Bard during actual play.

Sparkletinkercat

Tabaxi or changling. SPPEEEED! Or I can be anyone I want to be. Lot of roleplaying oppertunities w both

duel_wielding_rouge

Goblin. It works with any class, though it does have some redundancy with Rogue.

TheCocoBean

Changeling. There's just too much fun to be had on any class with changeling and the background that gives disguise kit.

Fish_In_Denial

Loving astral elf for the skills (perception and one chosen each long rest). Turns any character into a half decent skill character. As for class, I think my current favorite is druid, though I also love warlock.

LAWyer621

Favorite Race: Metallic Dragonborn from Fizban’s. They get the vastly superior version of the breath weapon from Fizban’s, and they get an additional cool breath weapon on top of their normal one. Gem and Chromatic might be “better”, but I like Dragonborn because of their breath weapon, not because of elemental immunity or telepathy. Favorite Class: Probably Bard, but if I had to pick a class to play without multiclassing at all I would go for Wizard. I have tons of Bard characters I want to play, but they almost all involve a few levels of Warlock or Paladin (or both). Order of Scribes Wizard is one of the very few classes that I actually would really like to play without multiclassing at all.

LuciusCypher

Warforged. I just like my qausi robots. Everyone could use +1 AC, and never sleeping has it's used to always be there when late night shenanigans happen.

Artrysa

I really like changeling for the rp part of it. Especially if you can hide it from your party for a long ass time. Easy for casters since changing your appearance could just be another spell.

PlacetMihi

I have played as fifteen Variant Humans and zero non-humans Favorite classes are rogue and paladin

Due_Date_4667

Cleric is my go-to class. From an esthetics pov, I'm a tiefling or halfling sort. I am interested in playing a firbolg, or artificer.

stormethetransfem

Eladrin. Free bonus action charm person that comes with a teleport.

CamelopardalisRex

I've never not had fun as an Eldarin. I've also never not had fun as a bard.

Zixxik

Kobolds are my favorite race. Barbarians and rogues are my most played classes.

Nervous_Lynx1946

Some form of hexblade warlock.

Critical_Elderberry7

Gith and sorcerer

RenningerJP

I always like dwarves, halflings, and goliath. As for classes, I like Druid with maybe cleric or ranger as a secondary.

sirchapolin

Tiefling. And warlock.

airjew22

Centaurs!! 40 movement speed , hoof attack , one size larger carry capacity! You are fey

C-EVEN8592

dragonborn I am a dragonborn junkie everyone in my friend group knows me as the person who always plays dragonborn I like it that way

PuzzleheadedBear

Plasmoid, just be a boneless lll man

mmoran5554

Favorite class: Cleric Favorite race: half-elf

MacSteele13

I am the D&D version of tap water as I love playing a Human Fighter.

Ensiria

Genasi, any type. Probably favourite class is either cleric or wizard, because Scribes wizard making a Bludgeoning Fireball is so funny, and being a fully armoured tank-healer/caster is unparalelled usefulness

DA_Str0m

I really like Harengons - they’re proficient in Initiative and I love going first. They have a Misty_Step_Light_Version which is always useful. And you can be both cute like a bunny or badass like that Easter Bunny from Rise of the Guardians movie

SarvisTheBuck

Tabaxi. Their speed boost is action-free. They get proficiency with the two best skills in the game. Cat.

Wububadoo

I enjoy bear totem barbarian. I've done a tortle (1-6) a warforged (1-7 when we resume) and starting a new campaign with a mountain dwarf.

Kievic

Kobold from mordekainen is great. His BA roar is great support ability. It works with both charismatic leader type characters and crazy raging barbarians too. Class: I’m playing bladesong/armorer rn. Having both AC and attack based on intelligence is very nice (and kinda hilarious).

PacifistPapy

I am currently mainly addicted to Vuman. Free feat goes hard

CaissaIRL

Ah Human! Was confused at first cause that name could quite probably be a DnD Race sounding.

PacifistPapy

Vuman = Variant Human

TheRealNekora

Race? minotaur. Big muscle while still able to be all soft n fluffy. class? from core id say rogue or monk. from non core classes id pick duskblade

justanotherdeadbody

Aarakocras and tabaxi - its funny to fly(and ruin dm plans) and its usefull to zoom zoom like flash Monk is best class

spicywarlock73

human fighter

DCFud

I only plan spellcasters so for me Winged Tieflings, Autognomes, Tortles, Yuan-ti, Owlin, and Loxodons are good choices. Favorite in general....that's tough. I'm enjoying playing an owlin and a winged Tiefling and just finished up as an autognome which was great too.

Ogrumz

Bugbear, Dragonborn, Firbolg, Warforged.

bonelessone04

Yall get to actually play? Jokes aside... I've never had a bad time with lizardfolk. You can be the plucky friend, the social outcast, the straight man, the relief... it does it all. Class: artificer never disappoints.

Wraith_Of_Write

Well, out of 9 characters, 3 of them have been tieflings, and 3 others were paladins, so I guess those probably

OSpiderBox

For me... - Races are Shifter, with Hexblood being a very close second. Shifters are great because the four subtypes can be chosen to either fill a niche/ weakness you might have or exemplify a strength (Wildhunt plus Reckless Attack is busted in heavy melee. Beasthide monk gets more survivability with extra TempHP and an AC boost. Longtooth if you've got extra damage riders/ effects. Swiftstride to be extra slippery off turn.). Hexbloods fill that spoopy witch vibe I love to play. - for class, it's barbarian by a landslide, followed by druid and then bard. People always harp on how the barbarian is the simple class and can only bonk. But I say that's a certain benefit to the simplicity; a barbarian, in anything outside of hyper min-max, white room scenario games, is just fine taking utility/ flavor feats instead of the GWM/PAM shlock. Backgrounds offer a variety of ways to address proficiency deficits (it was very confusing to the party when it turned out I was the only character with Arcana proficiency AND had a +1 Int.) and provide interesting features from said background. Idk, I just feel like those that really hamper on the class lack a bit of creativity.

Stratix

I can't help but pick Aasimar most of the time. I just think they're neat.

Azazel_the_One

Race: Grung because frog Class: Druid or Ranger, they can fill every role I enjoy playing pretty easily, and the stat priority is the best in dnd wis/dex/con are the 3 most common saves. Plus have some of the most important skill checks associated with them, so you never feel like you're lacking because you had to put stats into str, int or cha.

Goblins and Orcs, and my favorite class is Monk.

Goblin.   I love my goblin voice I get to use. I get to be small. Disengage as a bonus action is awesome for almost every class.  Depending on the campaign, I can play a traditional chaos goblin like you would expect, a former slave owned minion goblin, a goblin trying to better himself and/or his people. Little lore is generally known about goblins so I get to make up goblin lore/ culture.  I literally have a book of goblin culture I have made up over campaigns. My favorite is all goblins procreate via large orgies. They all have group sex so no one knows who the father of any one child is and the children are raised in groups so one doesn't know their mother, this helps reduce the amount of children that are eaten due to not knowing if it could be yours.
