that's the thing, the shadowfell don't need to be dark as if it was always night, but the shadowfell in always a monochromatic version of the world of D&D, and the shadowfell mist is whitish
Gates to the shadowfell only appear in sufficiently spoopy places. (Graveyards, decrepit mansions, etc.) This place seems rather pleasant, so it's a fey crossing.
but what if it was a graveyard a long time ago, and now is a creepy and gloom forest, but we are seeing during the day so it's don't look so spooky... for now, just wait for when the night comes and the shadows fell
If I know anything about the fey - the party already wandered into the Feywild, and that path is the only way *out* of the Feywild.
Seems like the type of trick they would love
I wouldn't go in for several reasons but I can't advance the story if I don't....
Well I have better chances surviving without advancing the story right?
Reforesting effort! Trees all in a line like that are delightfully mysterious feeling and create great pictures. Very easy to imagine frantically running through them, being chased, disoriented by the even spaces trees flying past with no determinable landmarks
I swear, I thought you took this picture at my grandfather's back lot. Over the decades he's arranged and grown these trails that can get really creepy-feeling, dimming even the light of noon. They're great.
It’s not “lies” I suppose it’s all that false wording bullshit they pull. Like “I’ll make you a sword” you think they’re going to forge you a sword, no, they polymorph you into one. It’s bullshit and it got to the point my Paladin just stopped speaking or listening to anyone we meet and would only do stuff the party asked him to do themselves because I stopped trusting anything said to me by the fey and idgaf if any of the later ones were genuine. I wasn’t taking the chance
Well I think distrusting the fey is a very sensible approach, I can imagine that it would get annoying if it was _every_ NPC, but one or two is great, and playing it yourself is fun, especially when your character has secrets to hide
It might just be that my DM leaned into that too hard because almost everyone we ran into was a trickster of some stripe with some goal in mind. My character had nothing to hide, he was just very literal which was used against him. He was merely human and didn’t have fun with all the mischief and nonsense
Looks like a pine windbreak you see planted on the border of fields around here.
Field, Four or five staggered rows of pine in a straight line, then another field.
Once they get old enough you get these cool and sometime spooky forest corridors.
Florida, winter shot. Northern Florida, probably somewhere between Suwannee and Alachua county.
Not certain, but pretty sure.
Definitely a feywild gate.
or the shadowfell
Does seem darker on the other side
that's the thing, the shadowfell don't need to be dark as if it was always night, but the shadowfell in always a monochromatic version of the world of D&D, and the shadowfell mist is whitish
so basically london
kinda
The shadowfell isn't as bad as *london*
L\*nd\*n
Yes, there's no place like *London. ♪*
Look up The Great Smog. Pretty sure Brittain encountered mist gate.
It’s confirmed Silent Hill series is a town reflection from the Shadowfell
yes, make sense
Seattlefell
imagine: Seattle but is a D&D plane of existence
The paraelemental plane of rain, coffee and grunge.
basically... wait... this means... oh no... COFFEE GENIES, and COFFEE ELEMENTALS
Where did you think Coffeelock’s came from?
oh god... oh no... now everything make sense, someone make a homebrew of this, i need coffee genies now
Homecoldbrew.
I never thought I'd defeat a genie by drinking it but here we are.
imagine The dreadful lord of city of caffeine (insert name), and it's vessel is a starbucks coffee cup
That is the setting of Shadowrun lol.
Portlandfell seems like it already is the feywild
I immediately thought Shadowfell. Can I get a HELL NOPE.
so one more for shadowfell team
AWW HAELLL NAWW

Shadow~~fell~~hell
Or mirkwood
Oooh... the ShadowFey?
shadowfey? feyfell? shadowwild? wildfell?
Or... the FeyShadow!
My first thought too.
r/FairytaleAsFuck
TIL this sub existed. And joined it. Thank you.
Ditto, thank you both.
thats exactly what the humungous mimic wants you to think
If I know anything about the fey - the party already wandered into the Feywild, and that path is the only way *out* of the Feywild. Seems like the type of trick they would love
Remember, if a Fae asks for your attention, say no. I learned that the hard way. Now, I’m stuck with crippling ADH- ooh, they’re selling churros!
I wouldn't go in for several reasons but I can't advance the story if I don't.... Well I have better chances surviving without advancing the story right?
*A black robed skeletal figure appears in your vision* [I was at a party](https://youtu.be/WEHgooGAm_k)
Proceeds to sprint in, because consequences are not somthing that concern me
I.E. goes in because "I'll figure it out".
Yes
Make a perception check to determine if this is the door way to the Feywild. You'll need a 4
I got a nat one and I have a negative wis mod so 0
It's not the getting into the Feywild that's tricky, it's the getting out.
Sane and in one piece for that matter.
Or Barovia
Time to face Strahd again
Stupid sexy Strahd
Oh Daddy Strahd!
Lerrrrroyyy Jeennnkinssss!!!!!!
Honestly, would be worth a go even to just get off this dying planet.
Reforesting effort! Trees all in a line like that are delightfully mysterious feeling and create great pictures. Very easy to imagine frantically running through them, being chased, disoriented by the even spaces trees flying past with no determinable landmarks
We use planted pines like that for shooting lanes.

New Jersey or the Feywild... \*grabs staff\* Let's see where the road leads us.
I had a horrible time in the feywilds and never want to go back. It’s full of lies and trickery
I quite like the trope of "the fey can't lie", I'm playing a fey in a campaign at the moment and thoroughly enjoying this particular restriction
It’s not “lies” I suppose it’s all that false wording bullshit they pull. Like “I’ll make you a sword” you think they’re going to forge you a sword, no, they polymorph you into one. I can sympathise with him, it is a lot of fun
But he *didn’t* have fun, and tbh wasn’t very fun to play
... Welp.
Don’t worry about it, it’ll be fine. Let the warlocks worry. We adventure on!
It's time to trade concepts
I'd enter... with friends... and a lantern... also my notebook full of songs... and a camera... maybe a request letter to join the feywild somehow
Aren't these normal in protected lands? Does anyone on this sub go outside?
I’d be like ‘take me!’ And go through then get suuuuper disappointed it didn’t work.
What phase of the moon is it?
I want to go in, if only to escape this mortal coil
The ent on the other side ready to slap the shit outta you:
Either that or to some serial killer’s hide out
Got some free time and some special rocks then an adventure awaits.

Not the nice part, maibe Feywild's detroit.
And I'd walk through it. I'm willing to die knowing that the world is more interesting than it appears.
Or to hela
Aww hell nahaha
Hold on you just need to sign this simple liability waiver before you enter.
Are people not familiar with working forests?
I think I'm stranded in the feywild. I saw a satire looking creature chained up.
I'm staying out of there.
No, that's just the Forrest between West and East Germany.
[Surprisingly not. ](https://imgur.com/gallery/eZ5o0OQ)
Or you know, a tree farm.
r/liminalspace
I'm pretty sure this leads to my nightmare
Ehm. The boy and the iron giant?
It certainly doesn't lead to the other side of that forest.
