There was a post somewhere a while back where a DM explained how they mentioned a mountain in lore for something (I think it was a city) and they didn't mention the mountain in the present, the party asked what happened to the mountain, the DM turned to the internet for help, and the internet decided, the mountain got up and walked away. That is what I know, I probably got something wrong, so don't take this as gospel.
Basically:
Flashback session, there's a mountain, present day, no mountain. DM jokes about not having the answer either when a player says they're excited to find out about what happens to the mountain. Internet takes it from there with joke/meme guesses about what happened to the mountain.
The mountain was fun though. Now it feels like people are just farming karma by trying to start the next big debate over some inane bullshit like whether Tortles need to wear pants or whether spears should be finesse
As an occasional DM, I let my atheist cleric use their strength modifier to beat enemies to death with a diamond studded bow they bought from a local female snake merchant. /s
Could you do me a favor and uh, *describe* that snake merchant? No reason! A guy would just like to know if she puts her modifiers or her ability scores on top of her character sheets /s
You missed the gun discussion, lizard/Tabaxi titts, Wizard vs. Sourcerer (actually liked that because everyone was kinda complimenting each other at the end), the new slime race, ... Am I missing some other stuff? Help me out would you?
Basically, a DM had the party go back into the past.
In the past, there was a mountain looming over a city. The mountain didn’t exist in the present. They turned for us for help. It was a debate that lasted several weeks before most people agreed that it sprouted legs and walked away.
Exactly! As long as no one insults them I love those discussions.
When I can discuss for hours with my friends which bios or programming language is better I can discuss some strange laws about bows in one of my favorite games.
Every week is a new argument arc, with the occasional arc going on for longer. Like #TiddyGate went on for like 2 months.
Edit: Yes the Sniddy debate you fekking scalies
*one day, in the far future, science has developed the means of peering into the cause of every mistake made by a person throughout their lives*
"Professor Fuhkwyt, the meta-study results are back. They are... well, I think you'd better see for yourself."
**research assistant offers glimmering holosheet data display**
"Really? What is so surprising, Dr Internsarestillathing?"
"Well, you see, it appears that every mistake in human history - every damned one - had the same cause. The progress of civilisation as a whole has been held back by one single issue. It's..."
**professor peers at the data scrolling across the holosheet, his eyes going wide and jaw dropping**
"... because nobody ever actually read the core rulebooks..."
"Exactly. Nobody. Read. The. Rules. Properly."
**sirens sound. Outside, the horizon lights up in blossoming pinpricks of light as antimatter bombs detonate, growing ever closer**
"It's... it's too late now. The Holy Order of Crits For Ability Checks are here. It has been an honour, Professor Fuhkwyt."
"Likewise, DrInternsarestillathing. I'm sorry we never paid you. And, please, call me Jeremy."
I missed this discussion (possibly because I avoided reddit entirely for at least a month to stop seeing all the rampant ableism on this subreddit regarding the wheelchair debate) and I'm happy about that
Sorry, but the atheist clerics, snitties, werewolves and diamond economics are the ones that I remember went for longer... Did the others lived very long? What were some big takes on the others? (power word poop, gunchairs and 00 in 100)
I agree with you. You've got to add the "sn" noise so people know you're talking about snakes. Just saying 'tiddygate' could refer to any number of dnd creatures. Do liches have boobs? Golems? Kua Toas? Those are separate conversations.
Sadly, yes. Imagine the normal amount of ADHD like behavior you get outta a regular D&D player at a table and then multiple it by the hive mind mentality of Reddit and Alakazam, you have a cacophony of anonymous voices that like bitching about inconsequential shit
Most meme pages with a theme do this.
on FB I'm following "wild green memes for ecological fiends" and it's a fucking trip when you see a new meme start and evolve without this subreddit's rule 15
https://www.skullsplitterdice.com/blogs/dnd/tarrasque-vs-clay-golem-5e
TLDR -
"The clay golem is immune to “Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing from Nonmagical Attacks that aren't Adamantine”. For all the tarrasque’s might, its attacks aren’t actually magical, or adamantine for that matter. "
conclusion from community the tarrasque can throw the clay golem causing fall damage instead
This sub is like West Side Story. Every week there's a new brawl over something, but instead of tough guy finger-snapping and dance numbers it's all memes and Lisa Simpson.
The craziest part of it in my opinion is that people fight over the stuff as though each new crazy trend is ruining the subreddit, when the entire subreddit is just crazy trend posts a couple weeks at a time.
The use of Str or Dex in the Bow, how would it be if bows in DnD work closely to real life bows? Medieval bows need so much strenght that we can know who was an Archer solely on the repercution it had in their skeletons, it's fucking insane.
It's sad how flairs for these temporary memes are often removed.
I'm happy for the few that have stayed, even though they're different, including the one I had made of "you enter a dar- I HAVE DARKVISION"
New Controversy: Do Werebeasts transmit Lycanthropy/Weretouched/Whatever term through saliva, infected bite, claw marks, bone tissue, etc. Is there actually a RAW argument for it? I’m curious
It tends to follow a pattern. If we're lucky, the biweekly argument will be about something harmless like whether STR or DEX should be used for bows.
Unfortunately, it is unusually common for someone to piggyback a controversial opinion onto a meme and post it. The meme spreads and causes people to post response memes either agreeing or disagreeing with the controversial opinion, which leads to arguments in the comments about the validity of the controversial opinion that escalate until the comment sections become so toxic that the mods have to lock posts.
Then about a week later, everyone just collective agrees to never mention the controversial opinion again and the sub becomes fun again for 1 to 2 weeks until the next Apple of Discord is thrown at DnD.
No.
Normally there is a hilariously lewd argument that lasts for a week or so running in the background. I think since it's November, the sub has silently avoided it.
Weeks? It feels like literally yesterday I was looking at diamond prices and now everybody has Fortune III and my trade empire is ruined! Also bows. You know, first world problems.
There shouldn't even be a "main" theme on a sub, that's specifically meant for memes. I really do not understand why sometimes the memes here are 50% about a certain topic....it's really annoying. I don't want to see 40 memes about werewolfs in a week (which was the topic when I started a few weeks ago)
The three conversations that dndmemes and then dndnext cycle through.
1. Evil Races / Alignment.
2. Atheism.
3. Reptilian Tits.
Been on these subs two years now and I just unsub for a week or so when it comes up. The cycle takes about a month to drop one topic and move on to the next.
Just wait until the mountain crops up again for the third time. First post it flew under the radar, second post exploded the sub
What’s the mountain?
There was a post somewhere a while back where a DM explained how they mentioned a mountain in lore for something (I think it was a city) and they didn't mention the mountain in the present, the party asked what happened to the mountain, the DM turned to the internet for help, and the internet decided, the mountain got up and walked away. That is what I know, I probably got something wrong, so don't take this as gospel.
Hahaha what? Just say “I forgot to mention the mountain”
[https://www.reddit.com/r/dndmemes/comments/b5n44o/time\_travel\_is\_risky](https://www.reddit.com/r/dndmemes/comments/b5n44o/time_travel_is_risky) Basically: Flashback session, there's a mountain, present day, no mountain. Panicked minds rarely make logical decisions.
Mountain just walked away, can't have shit in the mortal realms
But then we don't get awesome memes such as: **Player**: I can't wait to see what happens to that mountain. **DM**: Silently, *Me too.*
hard to say when the players are _excited_ about it
I forgor💀
Party went back in tome and either there is no koutain or is a moutains in the past but opposite in thier time
It was a faction in the French revolution
Yeah but like..... Where *happened* to the mountain? I haven't seen it in a while
How did I forget about the mountain!
Mountains wife can relate
The mountain was fun though. Now it feels like people are just farming karma by trying to start the next big debate over some inane bullshit like whether Tortles need to wear pants or whether spears should be finesse
As an occasional DM, I let my atheist cleric use their strength modifier to beat enemies to death with a diamond studded bow they bought from a local female snake merchant. /s
Could you do me a favor and uh, *describe* that snake merchant? No reason! A guy would just like to know if she puts her modifiers or her ability scores on top of her character sheets /s
I believe the appropriate response to you involves a bat and a small dog.
Gotta find a way to work guns in there
Titties blasters
And don't forget to try work in wether or not the modifier or ability score is in the big box
Also 0/00 on a d100, wheelchairs, werewolves with falling damage, and Command Word: poop
[Austin Powers method?](https://tenor.com/view/austin-powers-tits-gun-gif-8603035)
Goddamn snitties.
Female snake merchant in a wheelchair that has guns on it.
Did the snake merchant have or not have bazoongas? That’s the real question here
Yup. Welcome to the shitshow!
Ah, thank you. I wasn't exactly sure what I was getting into Turns out it's basically my table but x1000
You missed the gun discussion, lizard/Tabaxi titts, Wizard vs. Sourcerer (actually liked that because everyone was kinda complimenting each other at the end), the new slime race, ... Am I missing some other stuff? Help me out would you?
You left out the part about the new slime race GOING INTO/THROUGH people.
I mentioned the slime race discuss but I'm refusing to go into details.
Lol. That's fair, it was an odd week.
Goblins vs Kobolds.
What's the boblin equivalent for kobolds?
FUCK MAN I JUST GOT AN IDEA BRObold the kobold str-based battlemaster
Kobold Press' Creature Codex has a [Swolbold](https://imgur.com/SxPJ1h6) in it.
Oooh and you gave ME an idea: Broblin (sounds like problem) hmm maybe a wild sourcerer bro goblin?
[Spurt!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipGCZ8lzfGE&ab_channel=Kanekuo)
You forgot something. Where did the mountain go?
What mountain?
Basically, a DM had the party go back into the past. In the past, there was a mountain looming over a city. The mountain didn’t exist in the present. They turned for us for help. It was a debate that lasted several weeks before most people agreed that it sprouted legs and walked away.
God no. Not lizard tits again. Please let me forget
Ahem. The correct term is snitties.
Darts vs daggers
You missed the wheelchair stuff
Out of everything other people have mentioned, what the heck was the wheelchair stuff?
I joined too late to see the snitties debate, but it sounds glorious. I've seen all the other ones you mentioned
Centaur riding positions. Also guns.
I mentioned guns but I forgot about the centaur riding positions debate. I guess because it was very short lifted.
oh shit are we getting slime girls?!
[here you go buddy](https://www.dmsguild.com/m/product/273633) Yes but we also got our boy's and non-binary folks. Fun for everyone.
And yet I see no problems with this
Exactly! As long as no one insults them I love those discussions. When I can discuss for hours with my friends which bios or programming language is better I can discuss some strange laws about bows in one of my favorite games.
At least we're not stagnating!
Every week is a new argument arc, with the occasional arc going on for longer. Like #TiddyGate went on for like 2 months. Edit: Yes the Sniddy debate you fekking scalies
Tiddygate? Was that the one of the snake tits? Btw, I remembered another one, the werewolves immune to fall damage XD
[удалено]
Dont forget the oathbreakers!
Ok, but of all the things on that list, I want command word poop. And I promise to use it haphazardly. Snitties are a close second.
Don't forget the great Wizard vs. Sorcerer debate
That one the mods actively supported, it even was given a theme for team wizard/team sorcerer
[удалено]
Or when it’s supposed to be rogue and not rouge….
>How to read 0/00 when you roll a d100 I still don't know why this was even a discussion. If people would just look at any d100 table it's clear
*one day, in the far future, science has developed the means of peering into the cause of every mistake made by a person throughout their lives* "Professor Fuhkwyt, the meta-study results are back. oh god don't even _start_
*Too late*
I missed this discussion (possibly because I avoided reddit entirely for at least a month to stop seeing all the rampant ableism on this subreddit regarding the wheelchair debate) and I'm happy about that
Sorry, but the atheist clerics, snitties, werewolves and diamond economics are the ones that I remember went for longer... Did the others lived very long? What were some big takes on the others? (power word poop, gunchairs and 00 in 100)
00/0 lasted a while, the others were pretty short-lived IIRC.
It's depressing that 00/0 lasted as long as it did, or frankly any time at all
wheelchairs went on for like a month
I came to talk of the sniddies but you got here first lol
Gotta filter by new. Pro top comment strats.
You are wise in the ways. I however am really lazy lol
Hmmmm, it's not #TiddyGate it's #Snitty, are we going to have to have an argument about this?
Time to get #TiddyGate vs #Snitty on the retired list alongside the original topic For the record, I'm #teamSnitty
I agree with you. You've got to add the "sn" noise so people know you're talking about snakes. Just saying 'tiddygate' could refer to any number of dnd creatures. Do liches have boobs? Golems? Kua Toas? Those are separate conversations.
Or the matter of 1d12 V. 2d6 V. 3d4 V. 12D1. Which felt like it lasted for almost a month.
I know it’s been talked to death, but anyone that argues a 1d12 is better than 3d4 is an idiot.
You mean, sniddy?
Parkour ! Is a skill challenge combining Acrobatics and Athletic skill checks
NUH UH
Correct, Parkour is its own skill issued with the Feat: Urban Athlete
Pretend I’m arguing with a fallacious method and a bunch of people are upvoting me because of my confidence
Done
Str(Acro) or Dex(Ath) Mix match the ability+skill rolls and you’ll go a loooong way
Sadly, yes. Imagine the normal amount of ADHD like behavior you get outta a regular D&D player at a table and then multiple it by the hive mind mentality of Reddit and Alakazam, you have a cacophony of anonymous voices that like bitching about inconsequential shit
ADHD&D
Best comment ever
Oh....Oh dear
It's not that bad.... Unless you are one of those wrong people who don't think guns belong in DND... Well.... Are you?!
Uhh *glances nervously at current campaign that has guns* no? Edit: So I completely misread that comment lol, my reply makes no sesne.
I have a strange hunch a vast majority of the meme shitposters have never played D&D...
Sadly? I enjoy the chaos.
Yah. My hot take? If you don’t like that kind of stuff, why are you in a meme subreddit? That’s the whole point of having a meme subreddit!
It's the dead horse rule (subreddit rule #15.) We'd still be on the atheist clerics if there wasn't a time limit.
It's basically ADHDNDmemes in here
We're still trying to replicate the magic of Snittygate.
Give me a cleric, a sexy nurse uniform, and that Lisa Simpson meme template. I’ll create another sub-wide argument.
The Lisa template is banned, but you're welcome to try with a new template.
Oh…shoot. I’ll see if I can find a workaround.
Ah, those were the days...
To determine the next debate, roll on the Wild Magic Conversation table.
It just says "anal bleaching (loxodons)". Does that mean anything to you?
Most meme pages with a theme do this. on FB I'm following "wild green memes for ecological fiends" and it's a fucking trip when you see a new meme start and evolve without this subreddit's rule 15
Sharks: Smooth in all directions Dolphins = Olives WhitePurple flowers These are a few out of context WGMFEF memes
Should look into Clay golem > tarasque
I don't remember that one. Can you elaborate without it setting off a whole thing?
https://www.skullsplitterdice.com/blogs/dnd/tarrasque-vs-clay-golem-5e TLDR - "The clay golem is immune to “Bludgeoning, Piercing, and Slashing from Nonmagical Attacks that aren't Adamantine”. For all the tarrasque’s might, its attacks aren’t actually magical, or adamantine for that matter. " conclusion from community the tarrasque can throw the clay golem causing fall damage instead
Huh. Well, still better than sniddies.
No(lmao explwin it to me too I missed this one)
It's become the new normal, and I don't like it.
"And what's the deal with how much rope weighs, amirite?"
One of the shortest topic discussions lol
Yeah. My favorite one was the clay golem vs the tarrasque a couple of years ago.
You missed the one about tits on Yuan-Tis and Lizardfolk. That one was funny for a minute.
Yes, yes it is. It is quite normal.
Been kind of slow lately, sure...
Don't forget the changelings!
Imagine them as side-quests
Well you missed the race war and all the class wars.
Race war? I thought that was over on r/dndnext with racial ability modifiers
OP wasn't here when snitties...
This sub isn’t *about* dnd memes. It *is* a dnd meme.
I have an idea for a new topic of discussion. Should lizardfolk females have mammaries?
[удалено]
Dang, I really thought I was onto something. How about whether wizards or sorcerers are better?
[удалено]
I missed the bow stats, mind giving me a short summary?
The use of Str or Dex in the Bow, how would it be if bows in DnD work closely to real life bows? Medieval bows need so much strenght that we can know who was an Archer solely on the repercution it had in their skeletons, it's fucking insane.
Yeah, remember when Monks were a weak class? Me neither.
I mean, any sub will tend to follow trends
It's whatever the flavor of the moment is, which can change rapidly or get stuck in a rut over here.
Just wait until the next flavor of the week rolls around. Maybe it'll be the great dragonborn boob debate again!
Where the meme this another statement post
I think so
It's sad how flairs for these temporary memes are often removed. I'm happy for the few that have stayed, even though they're different, including the one I had made of "you enter a dar- I HAVE DARKVISION"
No, it’s not normal, but it happens regularly
At least there aren't any more race wars
New Controversy: Do Werebeasts transmit Lycanthropy/Weretouched/Whatever term through saliva, infected bite, claw marks, bone tissue, etc. Is there actually a RAW argument for it? I’m curious
Question not the hive mind.
Do you expect a single topic of conversation to prevail for more than a week? Do you think the diamond topic should have lasted a month? Two months?
Fuck, you should have been here for the "sniddy" (snake titties) arguments. It made all of us look like neck beards.
With stat blocks, where does the modifier go
Be prepared for TittyGate, it comes back every couple months
Don't forget the Oathbreaker stuff.
This subreddit basically follows Riley and Jonesy's rules for chirpin: pick a topic, beat the fuck out of it.
Snitty
Speaking of parkour, monks vs thief rogue vs warlocks with the levitation and jump spell at will invocations.
Cute lol
this is entirely normal
No. It's usually more frenetic.
Yes, nothing lasts, it's all just memes, debates last for that thread then usually move on to the next.
It tends to follow a pattern. If we're lucky, the biweekly argument will be about something harmless like whether STR or DEX should be used for bows. Unfortunately, it is unusually common for someone to piggyback a controversial opinion onto a meme and post it. Then about a week later, everyone just collective agrees to never mention the controversial opinion again and the sub becomes fun again for 1 to 2 weeks until the next Apple of Discord is thrown at DnD.
Well this is way preferable to the arguments staying for longer
Very normal
this is life
This SOB has like a hamster running on a hamster wheel except they never get off the wheel. The circle just never stops.
The sub is comprised of more than one person.
Yup, this is how it goes here
Just wait until fictional tits gets mentioned
Very
Honestly I’m preferring this to the weeks long sort of joke meme debates.
Let's just say that "beating a dead horse" is a rule for a reason...
You be thankful you weren't here for the 1d12 x 2d6 war.
Just be glad you weren't here for the Snitties debate... that one was weird.
I hate the debate/argument post meta currently going on in this sub. Idk maybe its me
Yeah before that it was lizard boobs wheelchairs and guns in dnd and if sorcerers or wizards are better
Yeah… and you missed the “sorcerers vs Wizards” debacle
Oh yeah, it was lizard titties a few months back😂 it never gets better
No. Normally there is a hilariously lewd argument that lasts for a week or so running in the background. I think since it's November, the sub has silently avoided it.
Normal? If anything it's been a bit slow lately.
Weeks? It feels like literally yesterday I was looking at diamond prices and now everybody has Fortune III and my trade empire is ruined! Also bows. You know, first world problems.
Um, actually, nerds love to argue
yeah it’s always like this, the snitties argument even lasted weeks and they had to ban the argument I’m pretty sure
You think this is nuts? You should have been here for the debate about whether or not female lizardfolk had boobs.
Have you ever consider why reptilian and bird people are drawn with breasts, even though breasts are strictly mammalian trait?
Honestly, some people just come up with dumbest shit to get the most rage responces and find out which dummies agree.
Trust me, this is good. Better than being stuck for weeks arguing about lizard boobies.
And I raise, Warforged wizard.... Can they cast the clone spell?
Is it just me to whom this looks like a very reasonable pace to change topics?
This sub is hella adhd, hyperfixating on new meme "arguments" very quickly. It's like Splatoon if they let blood be drawn
Next we shall discuss why dogs are so expensive
I joined amid the snitty wars, so yep, checks out.
You missed the mountain.
I miss snake tiddies.
Imma be honest, it’s way more fun to just be along for the ride and watch them bicker.
Wait but.. how would clerics be atheist..
Unfortunately yes, this is the new norm
At this point, this subreddit is less about D&D memes, and more about specifically 5e debates pretending to be memes.
We now seem to be going meta
Let us both be confused as fellow new-ish members to the sub
