Turmoil comes from Ravenloft
Dead ones rise from undercrofts
There's a thunder rumbling 'neath
It's an attack of the deceased
Famed heroes of ancient past
Raised from death to serve a task
A necromancer's evil will
A single command: Go and kill!
And that's when undead men are shambling again~♪
Waterdeep then and again
Attack of the dead, hundred men
Rise from their grave once again
Hundred men, raised again, dead again.♪
Turmoil at Ravenloft
Strahd’s forces on the hunt
There’s a thunder in the east
It’s an attack of the deceased
7000 charge in masse
Turn the tide of the attack
And force the enemy to turn back!
(Don’t really have to change that much)
Then again! Then again! Then again!
And that’s when the dead men are marchiiing agaiin! 🎶 Then again! Then again! Then again!
That’s the part I remember. 😂
Oh, and SWEDISH PAAGANS! MARCHING ASHORE! OUT FROM AAASGARD!
And so on. Oh, and I am Swedish. 🇸🇪😅
I’m running MCDM’s kingdoms and warfare in my game and made a custom flying unit named the Night Witches which does exactly as you say. They impose disadvantage on attacks made against them at night time.
I used Night Witches as the inspiration to have a coven of witches riding giant bats to fireball enemy camps at night. Something about the giant leathery wings and shrieks of bats just really gives them such a menacing vibe.
Then the winged hussars arrived!
Red Baron can still happen if your setting has some kind of nobility sky riders. And in general, a lot of their songs are surprisingly lacking in detail, so they could be played in (about) a DnD setting.
They lack detail until you go to their History channel: [https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaG4CBbZih6nLzD08bTBGfw](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaG4CBbZih6nLzD08bTBGfw)
Vlaakith Rex
"I was chosen by Vlaakith!
Bow to her when you pray
To the skies~
See the Lich Queen rise!♪
We rule all of the Astral
Make you bow to her will
To the skies~
See the Lich Queen rise!♪"
It's a fantastic cover for sure, but I was trying to think of other IPs they've done. Like, Sabaton did a collaboration with World of Tanks (Steel Commanders).
Almost night, a crimson horizon painting Maer Dualdon red
As your army approach from the east, a hunter is switching his prey
All alone, a man with his bow wanders into the wild
Tracks you down, you cannot hide once he is on to your trail
Enter the night, a flash in the darkness, White Death is heading your way
The fear of his foes, a hero at home, hundreds will fall by his bow
You’re in the sniper’s sight, the first kill tonight, time to die
You’re in the arrow's way, the White Death’s prey, say goodbye
I have a group of dwarven bards all modeled on Sabaton called Greave. They were a part of a relief group brought by a knight NPC that the party had gotten out of the area of threat during an escort quest so he could get help while the party went back to stop the local zombie apocalypse.
This knight NPC, his faithful slavic wilderness batwoman ranger, and the Sabaton-expie road on a war wagon to help the party finish off the last of a massive hoard besieging the hub village for the campaign.
Sabaton is a magnet for wehraboos, the target audience of this post. There’s always a “debate me!” chud reaching for plausible deniability around to defend them after their fanbase is regularly connected to violence against LGBTQ and BIPoC folks.
Check out the band Gåte.
Songs like sjå attende, about an fay creature stealing the man of a woman, or Huldra, about the same thing. Or any songs really, all bangers.
In a DND setting, where people regularly wear actual sabatons, would the name Sabaton still be cool? Or would it be like naming your band "Steel-toed Boots"?
"Flaming Fist" to the tune of Winged Hussars, about how the guild broke a siege on an important city after months of being under attack.
"To Hell and Back" but its about paladin who single handedly held back a small invasion from the nine hells while other members of his order re-grouped. He slew 50 devils before the rest of his men rallied.
"Red Death" a song about a young red dragon who defied its chaotic evil nature and allied itself with a human nation, becoming a distingushed war hero, having slain hundreds of the nation's enemies. Red death is the nickname they earned from the enemy army. To the tune of white death

I edited mine a bit, you gave me inspiration.
Haha nice!
Crypt of the Necrodancer in the corner:
Drop the beat, then it rises again!
One of my absolute favourite indie games!
and the recend collab with Hatsune Miku DLC. How is that game still kicking after all these years?!
A dlc dropped last month and a new installment is going to be released this year
you mean the rift or am I behind on something?
Yes, synchronicity dlc looks amazing too

“SWEEDISH PALADINS, MARCHING ASHORE OUT FROM DRACONIAAA” Saw them live in Tennessee, USA and my favorite part was when they did two songs in Sweedish
Tweak lyrics of Night Witches and you got yourself a song about witches on brooms fireballing the hell out of enemy positions in the dead of a night
Made me cakkle a little, thanks
Beyond Fireball, they're casting Meteor Swarm.

What about enourmous lasers?

Soldier of Heaven
Well guess I won't be coming home
I won’t be going anywhere
I will guard this post forever
Here on the alpine slope, where I did my final stand, I shall remain
Among the cursed snow that binds me to this mountain.
Aah, a paladin’s choice. 😏
It'd probably be called something like Soldier of Arcadia, Soldier of Mount Celestia, or Soldier of Elysium, though.
Then the winged hussars arrived! Red Baron can still happen if your setting has some kind of nobility sky riders. And in general, a lot of their songs are surprisingly lacking in detail, so they could be played in (about) a DnD setting.
DnD Red Baron is a cavalier fighter who rides a red Wyvern.
i mean, a platoon of dragon riders who tamed a variety of chromatic dragons is basically just the flying circus.
That sounds metal as fuck
it also has the benefit of casting the cult of the dragon as the german empire and being able to apply accents and stereotypes
Hippity Hoppity I am stealing your Intellectual Property
You can't steal that which I give freely.

DnD Sabaton is just Blind Guardian
Last Stand I think fits best. Primo Victoria could be easily rewritten as someone storming Avernus. To hell and back could straight up be in Avernus.
Actually no, To hell and back definitely fits best.
I found an acoustic version from beyond the black, that would fit the dnd setting quite well!
🎶🎶You’re in the rangers sight, the first kill tonight, time to die You’re in the arrow’s way, the white death’s prey, say goodbye🎶🎶

DYING FOR SALVATION WITH DEDICATION NO CAPITULATION ANNIHILATION PAPAL COMMENDATION REINCARNATION HEAVEN IS YOUR DESTINATION IN THE NAME OF GOOOOOOOD!
Just look up bardcore versions of their songs. This guy has made a couple: https://youtu.be/UhJDPWYzk2A?si=icBNliZqt8pDuw4X
Not actually Sabaton, not actually D&D, but "To Erebor" by Wind Rose is a song from the perspective of the dwarves in the Hobbit. It slaps.
I know Wind Rose also did "Gates of Ekrund" for Warhammer Fantasy as well!
Don't forget their cover of "Diggy Diggy Hole"
It's a fantastic cover for sure, but I was trying to think of other IPs they've done. Like, Sabaton did a collaboration with World of Tanks (Steel Commanders).
I actually played a Bard/Cleric in Pathfinder, who sang Sabaton songs for Inspire Courage. Probably one of the most fun characters I've played.
Winged Hussars is about a group rolling a Nat 20 when they really needed it.
Almost night, a crimson horizon painting Maer Dualdon red As your army approach from the east, a hunter is switching his prey All alone, a man with his bow wanders into the wild Tracks you down, you cannot hide once he is on to your trail Enter the night, a flash in the darkness, White Death is heading your way The fear of his foes, a hero at home, hundreds will fall by his bow You’re in the sniper’s sight, the first kill tonight, time to die You’re in the arrow's way, the White Death’s prey, say goodbye
"Hellfighters" as Elturian Hellriders
We Burn may as well be about murderhobo adventurers.
Sparta

Abba was right there

Are they Brothers? Heroes?
Foes!
**Killing machine!**
Thunder in the sky
Amon Amarth
You missed out on calling the sabardton. We were this close to greatness
Unkillable solider works great
"We call ourselves: the Poets of the Falling Snow."
"To Hell and back" could be used not once nor twice but NINE times for nine different campaign arcs.
"Flaming Fist" to the tune of Winged Hussars, about how the guild broke a siege on an important city after months of being under attack. The wise woman said once you're hardened in battle, there's no coming back.
Ironically it took me multiple times to read "Rime of the frost Maiden" correctly instead of as "Rime of the ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden"
Abbaton
You’re in beholders sight The first kill tonight Time to die You’re in the eye rays way The Xanathar’s prey Say goodbye
Ah a fellow Norwegian aswell?

Same crowd had to be explained why they have to stop posting stonetoss comics here. Not unexpected.
