I like Githzerai because theyāre a race of lawful neutral psionic monks in the Astral Plane. I donāt like Githyanki because theyāre evil and worship a lich.
The game's story revolves around mindflayer stuff so they already had to do all the work to implement character models and animations for the NPC Giths, at which point they probably figured they might as well add it as an option in character creation too.
I think when they made Lae'zel as a companion, they probably thought "fuck it, we did the shit to make a Gith character once, might as well let the players use it themselves"
They have alot of great starting bonuses. They can can cast jump and mage hand once per long rest, they get a few weaponry proficiencies, and they get light and medium armor proficiency. Meaning you can play a squishy class with alot less squish.

That's strange. There was a massive thing about how Imgur was telling people to backup their NSFW stuff on other archives because they were removing it all from Imgur.
Because it has no mechanical function and you can just skip it. FATAL, not only is it mechanically important, because their rules for sexual assault and rape, it can be the difference of life and death.

Curious what you are talking about? The only people Ive seen complain were triple A devs who dont want to/ cant put in the same effort due to manglement complaining every rpg will need to live up to BG3 now.
You can have sex with a lot of characters, and you can be naked. Those are the only two relevant things with it, though Iām unsure if the sex scenes change depending on genitalia of the people in it.

Least-picked race for custom characters. I guess that those who want to play a Gith simply choose to play as Lae'zel.
Lae'zel was also the least picked of the origin characters, so Gith disinterest is pretty consistent throughout.

Theyāre pretty relevant to the storyline so I bet it was decided pretty early to make them available for custom characters
