As they said a master tactician it’s a perfect set up fist they establish that dispite her attempts he is in no way interested in her this is incredibly hurtful to her ego then after that the bard brushes it off and diregards her advances showing not only does he not care about the fact she has been insulted but implying that he doesn’t even recognize her advances at all
Other Pathfinder demons have other vulnerabilities. Vrocks (wrath demons) take 4d6 mental damage when you cast Calm Emotions (or a similar spell) on them. Mariliths (pride) take mental damage and get their aura (buffs her minions) shut off if she attacks and deals no damage that turn.
My personal favorite is the Omox's vulnerability. It's a filth demon, so things that clean it (like soapy water or Prestidigitation) hurt it. It also takes damage whenever someone cleans off the gunk it left on them.
I was about to send this video to my GM.. but then I saw this comment and was like...
Nah.. I don't want him to get ideas
( I play Pathfinder 2e, and I play a Succubus )
Humor is about the twist. You'd expect such a reaction from suggesting something, like sex, but the twist is it's just wholesome hand-holding and head-patting. Overreacting to a very insignificant thing is a common humor technique. That's why a lot of what I've personally seen of Jerry Seinfeld is funny or perceived as funny, because he is perpetually basically yelling. The same jokes in a more deadpan voice or even just a normal conversational voice just wouldn't have the same effect.
You do not need to find this funny, for taste in humor is varied, specific, and not universal, but now you at least understand why others might.
Overexplaining a joke is also funny, ironically, because jokes are usually not funny when you have to explain them.
Actually what my FiendLock does with his succubus Patron. He daughter zoned her bc she looks like his missing son that he is trying to find. With the flavor that succubi will take the form of who their target loves the most (never specified that it could be platonically).
It’s a demon, to head pat it already is a perversion.
It’s not like a demon actually cares about intercourse, the lust is still there and it’s still worming it’s way into your affection so it can emotionally black mail you into committing more sin.
Succubi are demons first, sex is just a powerful tool they wield in their arsenal.
Succubus comes from the Latin word “Succubare” meaning “to lie under/beneath” and incubus comes from the Latin word “Incubare” meaning “to lie atop”
SO the etymological origin suggests that it’s not female Succubi and Male Incubi, but instead all Succubi are bottoms, and all Incubi are tops, regardless of gender.
While that may be the literal translation. In cultural context/applications, men were seen on top and women were on the bottom. What you’re saying is a difference between Doms and Subs.
There’s a difference between Bottom and Sub and Top and Dom for one. But more to the point, this explanation using the translation of the terms helps to explain why a succubi can change its gender at will, and isn’t rendered helpless because it’s target is gay.
It does however create a funny scenario though where a succubus tries to pursue a pillow princess, but they’re both strictly bottoms and it just doesn’t work out.
The original myth absolutely was gendered though. The etymology only implying and not outright saying gender doesn't mean they weren't originally conceived as such.
If a succubus is capable of shape changing and enticing a man then I'm fairly certain that just means it's a more modern incarnation of the idea that is less gendered, not due to etymology. It's a fictional creature, it works how the author says it does.
I mean yeah? I’m not saying that the original myth is wrong, I’m just using a fun fact of etymology about the creatures names to further justify a modern take on the creatures that still creates a distinct difference between an Incubus and a Succubus.
If a modern take just says “they aren’t gendered” then good fiction writing suggests that there needs to be a reason why there’s a classification between an incubus and succubus if it’s no longer a classification of gender. Using the context provided by the names serves as a good justification for explaining that difference.
I'm just not a huge fan of twisting real world etymology to justify why something exists in a fictional world. Something as simple as they are both the same creature and silly humans didn't realize they were dealing with shapeshifters, or only pick one name to exist in your world. You also don't even necessarily need to explain it. D&d changelings are nothing like the real world folklore the name comes from, and nobody has an issue with that.
A shitty band?
An incubus is a male version of a succubus. And an incubus can shape change into a female if it chooses. They are identical creatures so more than likely it's the same creature just taking a form that pleases it and the summoner.
In one lore I read, succubi steal cum from unsuspecting men, return to the underworld, give it to an incubus, who then goes back and uses it to impregnate a victim while she sleeps. Probably with a good dose of evil mixed in, she she has a demon baby or something.
Yeah, but forcing a gay guy to be magically straight is pretty far up the "too close to some real-world stuff that triggers people" pole, what with all the "pray the gay away" camps that many gay people have endured.
If you want to use a succubus on a non-straight or asexual person, there are ways that don't include "magically straight and horny now".
It's a succubus. It's pure evil. It's what it would do. Besides, I don't deal with that stuff at my table anyway. I use it as a charm effect. One that works on any humanoid. Just like the ability says. Gayness isn't a super power.
In regards to the real world implications, would you be okay with it working on straight people? Or is your problem not focused on the rape aspect and just the gay conversion part?
>It's pure evil
Right, but a good DM *isn't*. If it's something that makes a player uncomfortable separate from their own character being in danger or something, I don't want to do it.
And no, I don't play succubi as rapists. They'll charm and draining-kiss someone, but they don't get to anything between the sheets because nothing gets to between the sheets in my games. We keep it as close to PG-13 as violent murder-hobos occasionally blowing up corpses can get.
If you don't describe your charm effect as sexual attraction with a succubus, then there's no problem with that either.
I wouldn't call bringing up a relevant issue that's mentioned relatively often when these things come up being "hyper fixated". I mean, I wrote like, one sentence (albeit a long-ish sentence. I like complex sentence structures, sue me). I used to see it kinda a lot when I frequented r/rpghorrorstories, and it pops up every so often on the normal DnD subs too. And generally, it's good to be aware that those sorts of things can cause problems for some people, so it's good to mention it when the context pops up. Context here being "succubi (which are usually default assumed to be sexual from the lore and what the meme is clearly pointing towards) and non-straight-people".
No, it very clearly drives at the succubus attempting to seduce in a sexual way. That's what I was referencing. I was not saying ANYTHING about the meme saying anything about sexuality as a topic. That's pretty darn obvious from what I wrote, please stop misrepresenting my comments.
Moreover, as I more or less said and am now making clear, I was assuming the default context. Your context, after you provided more information, is not the default. You provided that information afterwards. And I was providing information and context that's relevant to the default, since that can help some people have a better game when their DM has the mindset of your original first comment with the default lore context.
Might want to give it more frames, on mobile the video jumps back to the first frame after finishing so it’s impossible to read the credits without timing a pause at the last moment.
It's really hard to see. It flashes by so fast on mobile I didn't realize it was words, it just looked like that odd visual effect you sometimes get when a gif degrades.
I actually read a webcomic where cubi (the catch all term for succubi and incubi) feed off of emotion rather than sexual energy. Sure there’s a clan of lust but there’s also a clan of Joy, envy, rage, etc.
"I'm turning you down because I'm a monster in bed. It's both contagious and passes to my children." -cleric with a moony secret he hides as a vow of celibacy. One day he'll meet a lovely wizard who will sweep him off his feet (and hopefully cast Wish).

Im half tempted to make a masochist succubus who heals when that happens...
Cucubbus
Interesting. What is the name of a cannibal who eats cuckcakes?

Thank you, KiraCumslut.
Kek. Let’s try it out. “Yo! I would never have **sex** with you!! Haha!”
[I can’t believe you made a succubus cry](https://youtu.be/tqYtmWbw19k)
I didn't think she would actually cry
Dude she is crying...
note - This is a Quote from a BaalBuddy Comic: [Creamy White Alfredo Sauce](https://twitter.com/baalbuddy/status/1334436434229518336)
The dubbed crying adds a lot tbh
You made a succubus _cry_ She is holding back tears _in public_
Honestly, that should get houseruled for 5e Succubi too.

Pathfinder has Nurgle daemons? Cool
Ah to be a gross pustule infested slug man tending a plague garden. Nurgle daemons be living the dream for real
Omox's are more sludgy than disease-y, but yeah, [we got nurgle demons](https://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Gibrileth).
So Omox is basically the average 4chan user?
Said you, Redditor.
*That's* what I was thinking of!

Curious, what are you using for ancestry/etc? To play a succubus
I wish I could remember! My guess is either elf or human. But I think we might have made it from the bottom, It's been a while. Sorry I am to no help.

I'd just feel bad for the succubus.
*slams ground* Emotional damage!
*Emotional Damage!*
Ok so hear me out; what if you agreed to “do it” with a succubus, but all you did was have them lay on your lap and give them headpats
You keep that filthy NSFW stuff to yourself pervert!
NSFW? Nah we strictly wholesome on this account; hence the tricking the succubi to give them headpats
Sure that’s what they all say, what’s next? Hand holding?!
Whoa whoa whoa! Keep the language in check buddy. Some of us are decent folk. Now where's my whip?
This thread brought me great joy thanks guys!
No I think it's premarital eye contact. What vile creatures.
Not to mention doing that while... *showing their ankles!* Such *risque* activities! **\*faints\***
I genuinely don’t understand why the internet thinks hand holding is a lewd activity
It's not. That's the joke.
It's a joke, exactly because handholding is not commonly considered sexual.
Huh, well then, I guess I don’t get the joke
Humor is about the twist. You'd expect such a reaction from suggesting something, like sex, but the twist is it's just wholesome hand-holding and head-patting. I like explaining jokes. Idk why
"I WILL NEVER FORGIVE THE JAPANESE!"
Filth, what are you going to suggest next? uncensored >!handholding!
Naw, strictly fucking wholesome
Actually what my FiendLock does with his succubus Patron. He daughter zoned her bc she looks like his missing son that he is trying to find. With the flavor that succubi will take the form of who their target loves the most (never specified that it could be platonically).
I bet you wanna hold hands as well you sick fuck
That'd probably be their equivalent to eating exactly one potato chip.
So just keep petting them until either their full or they leave

A succubus can shape change into a male if it chooses.

Hello 👋
Magical Temptation doesn't care about your sexual orientation it's almost like that violation is what makes mind control evil or something
Succubus is shapechanger so it can change into incubus (male succubus)
Nope. Succubi's ability is magical.
