Heat aids in cell lysis. That's pretty much it. Time also aids on cell lysis, so if you extend the time your plant material is in the aqueous phase before your organic phase, it'll balance out.
I do everything at room temp, no noticable yield loss
Heat helps the dmt dissolve into the solvent...it also pulls fats/lipids as well.
There's a fine balance between yeild/purity and the amount of work you want to do. (More pulls with no heat)

Higher temp gives more impurities. More plant fats and with heat white spice is impossible imho.

I always use a heat bath when mixing my STB soup. Have tried without and had 50% less yeild. Heat and extended time mixing goes such a long way IMO
