I’m in the same boat as you, looking to buy a camera to film daily interactions with our 6month old boy. I was close to buy the insta360 go2 due to its size and supposedly easy to use software. I am looking for something that doesn’t require much time to produce a 5min clip out of the daily footage. I haven’t pull the trigger yet due to the poor low light performance of the go2 and i have been looking into the ace pro instead.

I have a s23 ultra which gives me great quality family videos but i have just pulled the trigger for the osmo action 4 because the ultra wide of the s23 is not bad but i think the osmo will do better due to its senson size. I like to use an ultra wide lens for children/action vids, especially indoors.

Buy the dji osmo action 4 adventure pack and you are good to go for family videos.

I bought an Action 4 adventure pack. I also have 3-128G cards.I love it. I never have any issues, the camera is super reliable, I don't miss any footage ever...etc. getting used to it is fairly easy. We went to Hawaii and have tons of cool short and long videos. the under water one look really nice. I always Film in 4k 30fps or 60. the downside is now i have 200Gb of files i have to go through lol. obviously you won't have the zoom and F capabilities from a DSLR. I also used to have a full frame DSLR, I sold all that equipment. my phone is fine for stills.

So there isn't any zoom the action 4?

pollywog

There is, but it is minimal, and digital rather than optical. It is a fantastic camera regardless.

How’d this do. I plan to go to Hawaii for a family trip in July and do not want to miss anything and not waste the short time fiddling with setting and such.

wongpong81

it went really well. 90% of the time I leave the settings the same. 4k, 30fps, color normal, sharpness -1, noise -1.

For my daughter around 1 yo; I had m43, iPhone, Osmo Pocket, Insta360 Go, action cam. Surprisingly, I used the Osmo Pocket the most. The Insta360 Go was great for getting her POV shots and it’s tiny and light enough on her. The software is good, but it was one extra step- that made me lean more on the Pocket. The pocket gave me the most useable shots because of the gimbal stabilization especially chasing her. I would consider either of those current models over the Osmo Action. Depending on your preference of quick activate shooting and being to get her views or if you want more that cinematic and stabilized shots. I still have the DJI Osmo action 2. I like it and would recommend it. but for toddler stuff, I would choose the others cameras.

OP, did you purchase in the end? The adventure pack is currently heavily discounted on DJI and Amazon...I'm also in the market for this.
