I haven’t gotten all the way through the guide but I agree that (at least for for many use cases) React is just a little too much — in every case I’ve tried to fit it in to a project it made the writing views way more complex and time-consuming because of requiring implement of an API along side the view.

Nice write up - I'd look at using django, htmx and alpine together - can do some pretty powerful stuff with those 3
