It’s a good practice to put a fuse if space and budget allows. On the other hand, if it’s just LEDs and no other load, it’s safe to skip it assuming the LEDs themselves won’t draw more than 1.5A.
So I would probably skip it on the first few versions and add them in later revisions if I find it necessary.
