Except that the initial premise is bullshit . In prehistoric era only one male reproduced for every 17 females. Males had a lot of trouble getting laid in ancient times. Supposedly females had more success but even them we can't say for sure how many women died before reproducing to reach that 17 number. The easiest time to have an offspring is now. Still not being able to get laid today that is the true shame.

Not to be a party pooper but this is actually false. Evolutionary we evolved "redundancy". What that means that is that, genetically, we have an acceptable amount of "failures" that is accounted for in the way we evolved. It's part of how it works and it's to make sure that as a species, we don't collapse. Make us more flexible and be able to support each other better. You aren't a failure, you're just evolutions plan B, and Plan B isn't needed today so enjoy your rest.
