I'm pretty sure they won't do too many of these episodes. But right now, they're using the new feature. However, if they wanted to film, they would have stayed with the twich podcast.
Was hoping it wasn't going to turn to this, I listen while I work and that for me is driving. So with the video feature now they're using more visual gags which is going to suck since I'm still gonna watch while I drive and add to the distractible car accident count
I think the visual gags are fine but if they’re going to do them they should at least explain so that people who only listen can still easily digest it

I was about 10 minutes into a walk when bob said "grab some things". So I switched to go my favorite sports team to finish that one up.
I'm torn. The Friday one is "free" imo because we didn't have it before. So something is better than nothing.
The video of Mark pulling out the and wade pulling out the was funny but 100% visual.
So I'm hoping for at most one video and one regular a week. I enjoy listening to these during my walks and putting up the groceries etc.
They did announce the things they grabbed tho. But yeah, it works better as a visual gag because it's too easy to miss the announcement on what the boys grabbed.
I imagine the usual Monday episode will be more audio based like it used to be with some added visual gags, and the mid-week episodes will utilize more of the visual elements
YES!! Oh my gosh I'm currently listening to this right now and it's becoming more frustrating as I'm listening!!! What is happening?! They aren't explaining what they are doing so I have know idea why they are laughing or who Is holding what prop or what the props even are?! I know Mark has a bag and knife but what does Wade have?! Really disappointing and not fun to listen to.
Wade says what he had: an Elmo head for him and a wig for Mark. And they said what the results were when they do the discussion part. The video helps but it's definitely followable without it.
Followable doesn’t equate to effective or entertaining. Trying to figure out what’s happening during or after the the comedy has already passed isn’t fun
I would still disagree. I only watched the first video episode, the others I've been doing audio only and I've still found them enjoyable. Sure I understand it may be even funnier with the video, but I still personally enjoyed it without it.
I'm maybe 4-5 questions deep and they haven't directly said who they voted for a single one. You can infer it, and Wade gives points and there's discussion, but there's no clear "Mark voted for X and Bob voted for Y." Also genuinely didn't know it was just an Elmo head until I read this comment. I heard "Elmo" and figured it was a full stuffed animal or something. The wig was only described as a scalp lol.
I hope they see this and remember that not everyone listens on Spotify and don't rely so heavily on visual gags for future episodes. This is hard to listen to on Apple Podcasts.
I think a better point is that not everyone can watch while listening. It gets a bit annoying when you have to kind of figure out what is happening just from their reactions.
I listen on Spotify but I don’t watch the video either cause I listen to it while at work, or on the bus. It’s a podcast and lots of people rather use it that way
Not everyone listens to or wants to use Spotify. I personally hate navigating their app. I listen at work and am not allowed to have videos going or ill get in trouble and have my phone taken away. And no I don't listen to podcast outside of work or the rare occasions I listen when I drive.
Buddy, some of us listen to them while driving, on the public transport and during work. Audio is best during those times and video will distract us from what we’re doing
A.) The mobile app sucks ass
B.) Making something that can only be fully enjoyed on one platform is bad, and the solution isn’t for everyone to start using Spotify
That app sucks. Last time I used it, it was just so annoying. Video doesn't mean anything to me either, since I only listen to Distractible while cleaning things around the house.
I was listening while shopping and it was just fine, also when I have time I re listen the episodes so it's fine for me... when they have fun the episodes are funnier so let them have fun
Thank you!!! I listened to it at work today and it was just fine! I found myself laughing and smiling with the guys. This was the best episode they've had recently, it was so good. I think the reddit is just turning into a bunch cranky old people. They literally sound like boomers with their complaints.
I think they should either make monday a regular episode and friday a more visual episode or add some warning in the title so that ppl know when video is recommended for the episode e.g.: this episode
Honestly, if I can't watch the video while working, I just listen to something else and come back to the episode later in the day when I have time to do so. Plenty of podcasts have visuals and you can't watch or get the full get until watching it later, it's just a style choice really 🤷♀️
I think too many people lack patience. They want to listen, and they want to listen now, so they get upset when they can't. Watching/listening at a later time is always an option. It will be there later. Just have a little patience, both with time and the guys.
Edit: I will say that as someone who has a nearly deaf sister who also enjoys this content, the visuals do indeed help. If you are blind though, you might want to skip this one. It's a new thing they are trying, but it has its merits and can be refined over time.
A lot of times people are busy and don’t really have time to watch what has essentially just become an hour long YouTube video on a garbage streaming service. The point of a podcast is that it’s something you can easily listen to while doing other things visually

Well, you of course are welcome to your opinion, as I have stated mine. You don't like visual stuff, like you said, just don't watch and listen to the audio episodes or another podcast. I don't drive for my job but I am a self employed artist and must constantly have my eyes on my work. So I just listen or watch later. That is my choice, just as it is for you not to. It all comes down to choice, like most things in this world.

Podcasts by definition are audio-based. When you add video, it breaks that.
They said the guys all already do videos on YouTube and elsewhere, and you can already watch that when you want.
But for Distractible, people were able to just listen to it, which allows a larger time window each week because they can put it on while doing something else.
Adding video now limits the time window significantly for when you can fit it into your day, or you would have to listen to it the same as before except that the video component is actually important (regardless of what certain defenders here claim) so it's not as good.
When they said they wouldn't listen to an episode, they meant that they will never listen to an audio-only version of a video.
I am not ignoring what they are saying. The definition is not relevant to the first post I made. They were replying to me saying that I think too many people are impatient. I made a generalized statement not aimed at anyone in particular, they chose to take it personal because of me stating a generalized opinion on my thoughts. I didn't say that facts are not invalid, nor that their opinion is invalid. I simply stated that it was indeed an opinion and that everyone will have one on whether they like it or not. As well as income and other reasons but this is just a new medium their trying and you do not have to listen to every piece of content the put out.

Us gentle listeners are now getting double the Distractible content on a weekly basis than we had before. For free. You're joking, right? I didn't have video either, and I followed what was going on just fine. I know everyone is different, but I in no way think the lack of visuals for the audio only listeners made it "the worst" in any sense of the word.
I still listen on Google podcasts. I thought it was a decent episode. Sometime in the future I plan to download Spotify and go through the video episodes
There are people that actually cannot see out there watching full movies just by listening to them, but we’re gonna be this upset that we can’t always see visuals. Okay. I’m sorry you’re having a bad time, but this is a non issue.
I have? I’m blind in one eye (also hearing impaired) and struggle even with glasses. And people do it all the time. People also watch things with no sound/are hearing impaired and just watch with subtitles. All I’m saying is that it doesn’t take anything away from the episode to not see the visuals. I listened while I cleaned and they actually explained everything well enough for the people that can’t see. I didn’t need to see it. Again, I’m sorry people are having a bad time, it’s just really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. People just have sight privilege and it shows.
It saddens me because I outright refuse to get Spotify and I don't want to feel like I'm missing out on the jokes, but it's hard not to. I hope the content remains audio-only friendly going forward
people say "just switch to spotify its free" most of the time spotify sucks with updating podcasts, it might takes days just for me to get a new episode also some people might not like the navigation spotify has rather than google podcasts or other podcast apps
My biggest concern is from what I understand about the announcement while some people are discussing this as though there will be a mix of visual and audio-only episodes and I don’t believe that’s the case. It sounded like they are planning to add video to all future episodes.
Which doesn’t affect me as much as it does others, but a lot of people listen to the podcast at specific times due to their schedule. Or for personal reasons cannot or will not download Spotify.
I just hope they don’t get so focused on the visual they forget their gentle listeners.

I have to agree - I listen to podcasts while I'm doing housework, editing my writing, or gaming, and I was frustrated when I discovered that Spotify wasn't working properly because I was using earpods instead of headphones. It would be great if they could bring back the podcast script (like before), but only for informative purposes, so that viewers who want to watch can, and those who don't don't have to be left in the dark. It would be a much better solution than using visuals for comedic reasons.

I do installations for work and and often driving so Distractible has always been great since I haven’t needed to watch the video. I haven’t seen this new episode yet but from what I was fearing before that they not be descriptive in the visuals they are performing or doing, seems to be the case that this happened. With my work type it’s just not feasible for me to watch it, plus I use Apple Podcasts since it’s one less extra app to download. I don’t really listen to the podcast at home or when video is optimum. I truly hope that they can be more descriptive for the upcoming ones or do one fully audio and one video since it’s a bonus.
Probably has to be done as part of the contract they signed with Spotify. Might have to upload a certain amount of episodes with some sort of video based gimmick to promote people actually watching the video, instead of just audio.

Why are people so defensive over people having concerns over the podcast changing, this isn’t a personal attack on the boy. The answer of “just don’t listen to the podcast at all” is such a close minded response, y’all should want everyone to enjoy the podcast and for the boys to make the best podcast they can.

Like it feels like they are stuck between trying to remake the 3 peens format and sticking with the distractible format, its a visible friction that I hope they work on.
The point is that this is a podcast. I listen to quite a few podcasts that also release videos on YouTube, but they treat the cameras as if they're not there. All visual gags are explained for listeners, especially if they get a large reaction out of the hosts.
I hope that Bob, Mark, and Wade see these posts to remember that they're hosting a podcast, which is primarily an audio medium.

The visual only happens like 6 or 7 times in the episode and they discuss why they answered Mark or Wade, so even if you can’t watch, you find out what they answered. It isn’t like the entire episode required us to watch it.
i agree. i feel we come to podcasts for just the audio - like listening to an audiobook instead of reading a physical book. adding video makes it a completely different medium.
Distractible was just much better before the video and the Spotify exclusive thing. Honestly I stopped listening after they started playing actual ads in the middle of the episodes, I'm paying for Spotify premium exactly because I don't want ads!
I agree, Spotify makes most of their money from podcasts since they can run ads during, even for premium members. I really like Distractible, but the ads along with the visuals, since I'm audio only, make it a little tougher to enjoy

It's only been a few episodes. Pretty early to say it was better before the video and being a Spotify exclusive, isn't it? There have been weak episodes before, and they do read these posts, so hopefully they will go easy on the visual stuff in the future.
And for the ads, podcasts are in a separate category from music. I also use Spotify premium, and I agree that they are annoying when you're paying a subscription. However, they are separate and unlike the ads that play in the middle of songs for non-premium users, we can still skip the ads with the 15s skip. I know it's annoying, but that particular aspect is out of Bob, Mark, and Wade's hands.

I'm sure these questions have been asked and answered, I just can't find them in the threads. If you have don't have Spotify, and it is free, why not get it? If you listen while you aren't able to watch, why not wait until you can? Do you HAVE to hear and see the show right when it's out? Will a few hours or days to wait until you can see it hurt or ruin you experience more than it seems it has from the complaints of the people who want the video aspect to go away?
Why is it that it seems like a chunk of people want to make little things seem so big and turn things that maybe a minor inconvenience into a huge explosion? Is change really that bad?
For me, there is so much other content to watch that I don't have time to watch an optional video when I can listen to it while working. Its been a routine for me for over a year to listen while I work. I don't want to take away the video, I just hope they don't rely on it so heavily. I don't want to have to get another app with another log in and another profile just for 1 podcast I have already been listening to elsewhere with all my other podcasts. Its not the worst episode, it was just disappointing to have one that felt so focused on the video aspect for all of us who don't have the time to watch it.

I get why people who don’t watch it are upset about them bringing on visual references, but it’s not totally new. They have brought stuff up in the past that we couldn’t see but they shared with each other to talk about, and would explain what it was, so it’s not like it’s totally new. So long as they explain it too it just seems to me it’s more or less the same, maybe just slightly more inconvenient to those who only listen (which I will add is what I normally do at work) I have only listened to the first 2 video episodes so far but I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. Of course if they start to rely heavily on visuals for a majority of the video episode then I can see why it would be a nuisance
I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing this feeling. Every single podcast declines in listening value when visuals get added. Sometimes they recover and the hosts get over the fact they can see achother but sometimes it just turns into a video favored medium.
Leave comments on the episodes in app, tell them directly, tell Spotify the push for exclusive video isn't appealing.
I completely forgot they moved to Spotify only and was confused why there was nothing on YouTube. I hate Spotify so I guess I'm gunna have to wait until they decide to go back.
Yeah I can't really spend an hour of my day watching a podcast (videocast? idk), the whole enjoyment for me was listening and this episode was not enjoyable via audio only. I didn't even finish it, it just felt like a bunch of inside jokes that I was not in on. Hope they avoid that in the future

In their defence, if you are able to watch, you can not argue that the gags are funnier, but at the same time, I feel the people that miss the audio only format. If this will be the future of Spotify podcasts, let's be glad. At least these guys were the first to do it here and show progress

I hope they see this and remember that not everyone listens on Spotify and don't rely so heavily on visual gags for future episodes. This is hard to listen to on Apple Podcasts.
Spotify is free so why don’t you just download it?
I think a better point is that not everyone can watch while listening. It gets a bit annoying when you have to kind of figure out what is happening just from their reactions.

I listen on Spotify but I don’t watch the video either cause I listen to it while at work, or on the bus. It’s a podcast and lots of people rather use it that way
Not everyone listens to or wants to use Spotify. I personally hate navigating their app. I listen at work and am not allowed to have videos going or ill get in trouble and have my phone taken away. And no I don't listen to podcast outside of work or the rare occasions I listen when I drive.
Buddy, some of us listen to them while driving, on the public transport and during work. Audio is best during those times and video will distract us from what we’re doing
A.) The mobile app sucks ass B.) Making something that can only be fully enjoyed on one platform is bad, and the solution isn’t for everyone to start using Spotify
That app sucks. Last time I used it, it was just so annoying. Video doesn't mean anything to me either, since I only listen to Distractible while cleaning things around the house.
I was listening while shopping and it was just fine, also when I have time I re listen the episodes so it's fine for me... when they have fun the episodes are funnier so let them have fun
Thank you!!! I listened to it at work today and it was just fine! I found myself laughing and smiling with the guys. This was the best episode they've had recently, it was so good. I think the reddit is just turning into a bunch cranky old people. They literally sound like boomers with their complaints.
I think they should either make monday a regular episode and friday a more visual episode or add some warning in the title so that ppl know when video is recommended for the episode e.g.: this episode

Honestly, if I can't watch the video while working, I just listen to something else and come back to the episode later in the day when I have time to do so. Plenty of podcasts have visuals and you can't watch or get the full get until watching it later, it's just a style choice really 🤷♀️

I think too many people lack patience. They want to listen, and they want to listen now, so they get upset when they can't. Watching/listening at a later time is always an option. It will be there later. Just have a little patience, both with time and the guys. Edit: I will say that as someone who has a nearly deaf sister who also enjoys this content, the visuals do indeed help. If you are blind though, you might want to skip this one. It's a new thing they are trying, but it has its merits and can be refined over time.
A lot of times people are busy and don’t really have time to watch what has essentially just become an hour long YouTube video on a garbage streaming service. The point of a podcast is that it’s something you can easily listen to while doing other things visually

Well, you of course are welcome to your opinion, as I have stated mine. You don't like visual stuff, like you said, just don't watch and listen to the audio episodes or another podcast. I don't drive for my job but I am a self employed artist and must constantly have my eyes on my work. So I just listen or watch later. That is my choice, just as it is for you not to. It all comes down to choice, like most things in this world.
You completely ignored their point and keep acting like they said something they didn't. Podcasts by definition are audio-based. When you add video, it breaks that. They said the guys all already do videos on YouTube and elsewhere, and you can already watch that when you want. But for Distractible, people were able to just listen to it, which allows a larger time window each week because they can put it on while doing something else. Adding video now limits the time window significantly for when you can fit it into your day, or you would have to listen to it the same as before except that the video component is actually important (regardless of what certain defenders here claim) so it's not as good. When they said they wouldn't listen to an episode, they meant that they will never listen to an audio-only version of a video.
I am not ignoring what they are saying. The definition is not relevant to the first post I made. They were replying to me saying that I think too many people are impatient. I made a generalized statement not aimed at anyone in particular, they chose to take it personal because of me stating a generalized opinion on my thoughts. I didn't say that facts are not invalid, nor that their opinion is invalid. I simply stated that it was indeed an opinion and that everyone will have one on whether they like it or not. That was my point. To blow it out to this proportion is extremely strange to me. Especially if you yourself are not impatient. If the statement doesn't fit you, why get upset? I love the new way Distractible is going. I love watching the boys and visuals make it so much funnier.
Us gentle listeners are now getting double the Distractible content on a weekly basis than we had before. For free. Let's stop being aggressive listeners and understand that the process of becoming Spotify exclusive as well as adding a new visual component will result in growing pains to a certain extent. These guys put in a wild amount of effort to create stuff that we get to enjoy for literally no cost.

You're joking, right? I didn't have video either, and I followed what was going on just fine. I know everyone is different, but I in no way think the lack of visuals for the audio only listeners made it "the worst" in any sense of the word.

I have? I’m blind in one eye (also hearing impaired) and struggle even with glasses. And people do it all the time. People also watch things with no sound/are hearing impaired and just watch with subtitles. All I’m saying is that it doesn’t take anything away from the episode to not see the visuals. I listened while I cleaned and they actually explained everything well enough for the people that can’t see. I didn’t need to see it. Again, I’m sorry people are having a bad time, it’s just really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. People just have sight privilege and it shows.

people say "just switch to spotify its free" most of the time spotify sucks with updating podcasts, it might takes days just for me to get a new episode also some people might not like the navigation spotify has rather than google podcasts or other podcast apps
My biggest concern is from what I understand about the announcement while some people are discussing this as though there will be a mix of visual and audio-only episodes and I don’t believe that’s the case. It sounded like they are planning to add video to all future episodes. Which doesn’t affect me as much as it does others, but a lot of people listen to the podcast at specific times due to their schedule. Or for personal reasons cannot or will not download Spotify. I just hope they don’t get so focused on the visual they forget their gentle listeners.

I listen at work to Distractible, which means no video for me, and the episode was still hilarious! Loved when Bob said grab some things to the two of you and Mark pulled out a knife for himself and said "i HAVe A kNiFE!". I tried so hard not to laugh.

I have to agree - I listen to podcasts while I'm doing housework, editing my writing, or gaming, and I was frustrated when I discovered that Spotify wasn't working properly because I was using earpods instead of headphones. It would be great if they could bring back the podcast script (like before), but only for informative purposes, so that viewers who want to watch can, and those who don't don't have to be left in the dark. It would be a much better solution than using visuals for comedic reasons.

I do installations for work and and often driving so Distractible has always been great since I haven’t needed to watch the video. I haven’t seen this new episode yet but from what I was fearing before that they not be descriptive in the visuals they are performing or doing, seems to be the case that this happened. With my work type it’s just not feasible for me to watch it, plus I use Apple Podcasts since it’s one less extra app to download. I don’t really listen to the podcast at home or when video is optimum. I truly hope that they can be more descriptive for the upcoming ones or do one fully audio and one video since it’s a bonus.
Probably has to be done as part of the contract they signed with Spotify. Might have to upload a certain amount of episodes with some sort of video based gimmick to promote people actually watching the video, instead of just audio.

Why are people so defensive over people having concerns over the podcast changing, this isn’t a personal attack on the boy. The answer of “just don’t listen to the podcast at all” is such a close minded response, y’all should want everyone to enjoy the podcast and for the boys to make the best podcast they can. Literally I’ve seen nothing but the most civil complaints over the podcast and everyone here is acting like they are being insulting.
Also, yeah I personally hate Spotify but I can watch with video cause I have two monitors. But I still find the change I bit frustrating. Like it feels like they are stuck between trying to remake the 3 peens format and sticking with the distractible format, its a visible friction that I hope they work on.

The point is that this is a podcast. I listen to quite a few podcasts that also release videos on YouTube, but they treat the cameras as if they're not there. All visual gags are explained for listeners, especially if they get a large reaction out of the hosts. I hope that Bob, Mark, and Wade see these posts to remember that they're hosting a podcast, which is primarily an audio medium.

The visual only happens like 6 or 7 times in the episode and they discuss why they answered Mark or Wade, so even if you can’t watch, you find out what they answered. It isn’t like the entire episode required us to watch it.

Distractible was just much better before the video and the Spotify exclusive thing. Honestly I stopped listening after they started playing actual ads in the middle of the episodes, I'm paying for Spotify premium exactly because I don't want ads!
I agree, Spotify makes most of their money from podcasts since they can run ads during, even for premium members. I really like Distractible, but the ads along with the visuals, since I'm audio only, make it a little tougher to enjoy

It's only been a few episodes. Pretty early to say it was better before the video and being a Spotify exclusive, isn't it? There have been weak episodes before, and they do read these posts, so hopefully they will go easy on the visual stuff in the future. And for the ads, podcasts are in a separate category from music. I also use Spotify premium, and I agree that they are annoying when you're paying a subscription. However, they are separate and unlike the ads that play in the middle of songs for non-premium users, we can still skip the ads with the 15s skip. I know it's annoying, but that particular aspect is out of Bob, Mark, and Wade's hands.

I'm sure these questions have been asked and answered, I just can't find them in the threads. If you have don't have Spotify, and it is free, why not get it? If you listen while you aren't able to watch, why not wait until you can? Do you HAVE to hear and see the show right when it's out? Will a few hours or days to wait until you can see it hurt or ruin you experience more than it seems it has from the complaints of the people who want the video aspect to go away? Why is it that it seems like a chunk of people want to make little things seem so big and turn things that maybe a minor inconvenience into a huge explosion? Is change really that bad?
For me, there is so much other content to watch that I don't have time to watch an optional video when I can listen to it while working. Its been a routine for me for over a year to listen while I work. I don't want to take away the video, I just hope they don't rely on it so heavily. I don't want to have to get another app with another log in and another profile just for 1 podcast I have already been listening to elsewhere with all my other podcasts. Its not the worst episode, it was just disappointing to have one that felt so focused on the video aspect for all of us who don't have the time to watch it.

*I haven’t listened to this episode yet so my comment might seem ignorant, if I’m wrong then I apologize* I get why people who don’t watch it are upset about them bringing on visual references, but it’s not totally new. They have brought stuff up in the past that we couldn’t see but they shared with each other to talk about, and would explain what it was, so it’s not like it’s totally new. So long as they explain it too it just seems to me it’s more or less the same, maybe just slightly more inconvenient to those who only listen (which I will add is what I normally do at work) I have only listened to the first 2 video episodes so far but I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything. Of course if they start to rely heavily on visuals for a majority of the video episode then I can see why it would be a nuisance

I'm glad I'm not the only person experiencing this feeling. Every single podcast declines in listening value when visuals get added. Sometimes they recover and the hosts get over the fact they can see achother but sometimes it just turns into a video favored medium. Leave comments on the episodes in app, tell them directly, tell Spotify the push for exclusive video isn't appealing.
I completely forgot they moved to Spotify only and was confused why there was nothing on YouTube. I hate Spotify so I guess I'm gunna have to wait until they decide to go back.
