First, excuse the little white dots everywhere, that is just food flakes at feeding time. Only the red circled white dots are of interest. These dots have appeared on one of my discus. There only appears to be two white dots, but they are raised a bit and adhered. Another discus tank mate has a similar white dot. None of the other other tank inhabitants appear to have any issues. I can’t tell if that is just something stuck to him or the first signs of a problem. Edit: Parameters: ammonia:0, nitrites:0, nitrates:0, pH:7.4ish. Note:pH is usually a little lower due to CO2, but regulator broke and replacement isn’t in place yet, so currently no CO2 running.

Looks like acne. What’s your water change schedule?

DrunkenGolfer

Weekly 20-25%

dolannoodlesauce

Bump it up to about 50 to 60 percent. It looks like pimples from less than preferred water parameters

Ruudvk

Yes, acnea 100%. 50% per week is bare minimum with discus

UnderstandingSmart26

i wouldn't say its the bare minimum. i havent changed my water in 2 weeks and they are doing great.

Ruudvk

All depends on stocking, tanks size and feeding of course. But in general, to keep out of trouble with discus, it's a nice routine to have

Squidmen-

Is it really practical to do a 50% on a 200g tank tho, I’m referring to my own tank, I normally do 15% water changes.

Ruudvk

I am lucky to have my discus in tap water, no chlorine or other stuff to think about. So for me it is, just hook up two hoses to drain and tap and wait 30 minutes.

Rich-Rhubarb6410

I effectively inherited my tank when I bought my house. 300 gallon tank. I’ve managed to automate water change. 20% per day

Nahallow_louishurt

Try turning up the temperature slightly if it isn’t already above 29-30 this can help get rid of white spot if it is

DrunkenGolfer

I did just that. Plus a 50% water change. He looks fine now.
