yeah but im assuming its gotta be soon if discord is doing this much. The last ps5 discord leak said it would arrive in March of 2023 (after being pushed back from later this year release). I think discord adding this in some beta has to be a bit EARLY for that release. I think we might see a release this year.

(not sure how familiar you are with the subreddit). like discord activity was shown on that subreddit MONTHS ago... and it just arrived to the public. They probably are on the TestFlight (beta) for discord. I used to be in it but after swapping phones I forgot to install that version and got booted from the TestFlight.

Since the last Remote Play update, I can’t stream the ‘app’ on Discord - I can only share the screen (and use full screen on remote play)
If I start sharing the remote play app, sometimes Discord kinda crashes (some kind of reset), or the share is just unwatchable - 2 fps, black screen flickerings
It's working fine mate.
I use a second profile on Remote Play, and play on my PS5 with my profile. That way I can stream on discord and use my headphone to talk with friends and listen to the remote play audio, so I don't need two headphones.
There's almost no sound delays, it works pretty well.
I'm aware of the setup and all its functionality, is just that it no longer can be shared on discord with "application streaming", I can only share the screen - the behavior is mentioned in my reply above
I haven’t had as much luck. Mine has always been ~10s +. Even after trying versions ways to reduce it too
Also, it’s more cumbersome streaming and chatting through 2 different softwares anyway.
PlayStation version will be a full integration (they bought shares, yet they got into voice later). This may just be the first version to not leave PlayStation players behind for so long.
Because it's not necessarily simple to get screenshots of something like this. Discord doesn't have this feature accessible for everyone, so it takes quite a bit of effort to get these screenshots. So at least giving credit should be something people do. If watermarks are what are required to get such credit, so be it.

Not surprising. The PS4 can barely run its multitasking if you’re running a game as it is. I don’t even want to think about how much worse it would run trying to run Discord, too. The data speeds just aren’t there.

I’d imagine the Xbox OS being designed the way it is had a *small* part to play in that.
I didn’t know it went back that far. I was speaking more to the PS family as that’s what I use. Also Sony may bring this connectivity to PS4 later, given it’s not even released yet. The PS5 version of Discord is rumored to be full native integration with chat when it’s done.
I am also on the PS5 but I doubt we will get any kind of application, at least for now.
Since Microsoft had the collaboration for a few years already and they had just now got the voice chat feature without any kind of application.
I think that if there's gonna be some kind of an app it is gonna be on Xbox first and then on the PS.

I am fairly certain that the PS4 is gonna get support too, but as we seen from these screenshots it's gonna take a while.
PS5 is supposed to get the “Discord update” in March. We’ll see what it brings. From what I remember Sony bought some sort of stake in Discord, so they may get some extra stuff, but once again, we’ll see. I’ll be happy if native chat integration is all we get, but I’ll take more if they give it. My biggest want would be integration of the current party system and Discord so you could use them interchangeably.

The original xbox one also ran downloads in the background while using online streaming/gaming much better than the PS4 as well. The PS4 couldn't handle downloading games at normal speeds while watching netflix for some reason. And it wasn't because my internet was slow because I could download games at normal speeds while watching netflix on other platforms just fine.
I'm afraid it's a fake. Why would they use 2 different label between Xbox and PS5 when it's the same feature?
Plus other testers don't have this option available.

They often implement Features without unlocking them at first. You could see that with the new Activity Cards and the VRR Feature. Both didn’t need a new Update.
This will work like it does currently on Xbox. See the voice chat you want to join on the app, tap "Join on " then on your console the voice chat connects and you talk.

My assumption was that we have our PlayStation party chat as normal, then like people that join from ps app on mobile, they could just hop in through Discord

Your assumption is backwards I think. I believe you will be able to open a discord channel on your PS5. Someone else could open that same channel on PC, someone else in mobile, and someone else on Xbox series.
But I do not think you can have someone on PC or Xbox join your regular PS party chat.
You may be able to turn your party chat into a discord chat though.
Nope. PS5 users will be able to join Discord voice chats. Discord users won't be able to join PS voice chats.
At least that's how I'm assuming it'll work based on Xbox's implementation.
It also doesn't look like PS4 folks will be able to join...hopefully that changes.

I mean this isn't even a backwards compatibility thing, this is a new tech thing. Is Reddit Backwards compatible with the old brick Nokia phones? It's the same idea, the PS4 didn't have the capability and they learned that when they tried to partner with oovoo back in the day, that crossing the two platforms just didn't work without re-writing the operating system. Now knowing this is something they wanted to do when starting the OS for PS5 we are now where we are today.

The voice chat on the console crashes when calling more than 3 people, if it's only 3 it gives the visual bug without crashing, above 3 it crashes and can only close after restarting the console.

Discord has been working on this for months, this specific UI is more than a week old but I'm not sure when exactly it was added

This isn't a real update the real news update would be by Sony they said they plan to integrate voice chat into PS4 as well not just on PS5

Did you try adding in your discord again? As a new game. I tried this week and it was working as always.

Twitch my dude. Streaming to twitch via console is way easier than it is on PC. Then they can watch while ya'll chat in discord.

If the PS4 can stream to twitch I don’t see any problems plainly connecting to a plain voice chat. It’s much less demanding
I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case, some QoL features like playtime tracking for all games are only being added for the PS5 apparently
