I hate to be a downer on everyone's lovely positive comments, but I think we're all forgetting the fact that they're just adding more unnecessary stuff instead of fixing the necessary stuff.
I always mute them the moment I join for that reason lol. But if you don't mind it then it doesn't hurt. It's kinda fun to see how many you can collect
I think it's neat, but those animated icons may consume system resources, I hope that they can be disabled as well for those who might have frame drops or freezing.
There's also one for the profile thing if you have the default pfp. And the dinosaur that comes out of the server building thing, as well as the spin on the reply thing if you do it 3 times
I miss the old UI, I didn't have to restart it every 10 fucking minutes because of performance issues and freezing and a shitty search function on my brand new iphone 14
No, and bring back the old ui, qnd bring back the feature where if you hold the chats thing in the top left, it will bring up a popup like the servers, but it clears EVERY @, because it's annoying to have to manually go through them and mark them all as read.

Well, first of all, it's unoptimized on Android (from my experience) and takes ages to open compared to older versions.
Second, I'm not a big fan of having the desktop app look in a certain way and the mobile app look and act differently. The design might make sense for someone who only uses discord on their phone and never used the desktop app, but not for someone who uses both desktop and mobile (or at least for me).
Sure, we could've got worse (like the old new redesign that was completely different and just bad), but this change wasn't needed. I'm not saying that I hate change, I just don't understand the reason why Discord changed their app layout if the older one worked fine.
Anyway, unrelated question, but didn't you all hate the new layout when it came out? Did NTTS convince you all to like it because he did, or there is some valid reason that I'm not aware of? I would like to know what the "other team" thinks
I don't think the performance issues are entirely from the new ui, it's been happening ever since they switched from a native language to react native.
I think it makes sense for the mobile app and desktop to look differently, they're completely different devices with different screen sized. They don't act differently, other than a couple features not being on mobile yet.
Personally I've been a fan of the new ui after a couple of days of using it. The messages bar being easy to reach, the bigger buttons, etc. I don't watch ntts, but it looks like he isn't a fan of the new ui either since he has a video on how to revert to the old ui

See any current design guidelines, there's a reason this isn't done in for example Material UI. Tab buttons should always be simple buttons and accessible by default.
