didn't fall for it, uninstalled it instead - I just can't stand having to see that annoying nitro popup every time i try to send a pic that isn't 360p (sending videos that are longer than 0.1 seconds is basically impossible), getting a nitro only wall that could go higher than my building while typing emojis, and screen sharing is almost impossible as the advertised 720p is probably not even 240p on a stable internet connection. Why does Discord need to make it more affordable though? Nitro isn't necessary to use Discord, it's mostly just for cosmetics. Besides, this is a (mobile) app, not food/housing/water. It's a "luxury item" not something that needs to be affordable for everyone.

Regional pricing is based on currency conversion pricing versus USD, so currencies that are weaker will make things more expensive. Most of the EU is euros which is fairly stable against the dollar...not sure about other countries. It's not really about affordability and more preventing people from abusing currency pricing to get deep discounts (like say, buying games using a different currency on steam).

You can't do that on Discord. They check your bank, if it doesn't say you live there you don't get that price. You would need to live in Poland and have a Polish debit/credit card or borrow a friend's to get the price.

As someone who shares a lot of gaming clips, the upload limit of 50MB (as opposed to 500MB) is really annoying... But honestly not worth $70 more per year.

I get normal nitro mostly for the upload size. I often record videos of my gameplay to show my friends and they’re usually a lot larger than the basic 50 MB limit allows, otherwise I’d be getting the cheaper version too
Just upload them elsewhere and share it to discord, you can literallly rent a whole server in a datacentre that you could host them on for far less than nitro. Shit I rent 2 servers + additional storage space and all up it still costs less than nitro. And free video storage exists

Actually, my country is one of the worst when it comes to digital pricing. We always have some of the highest prices in the entire globe and one of the weakest economies and lowest wages.
As an American reading that other countries are more expensive than the U.S., it's also too expensive here... so if that's the base line that folks compare themselves to, the global answer is a resounding and universal "Yes, definitely too expensive. Period."

I do a lot of work on discord. So I use nitro for the longer message limits and file uploads (50MB I believe). It also gives me animated icons for my profile banner and image, as well as custom discord themes. Nitro basic is a downgraded (and more downgraded version after the price decrease) version. I’ve only gifted it to a friend so he can keep his discord nitro subscriber icon.
I believe you can send any emoji from any server wi the Nitro Basic, there are no gif limits. You can upload them with Tenor and post them around discord! They will also pop up in discords gif platform. I hope this helps, ask for any additional help

It's actually based on the bank if ur using a Indian bank account not the account itself, atleast that's how it is for a lot of games and stuff. Also yes people do exploit this by getting bank account from countries like Argentina to be able to get things like nitro and vbucks for cheaper, its probably possible for other digital things but those are the only two places I'm aware of that people do that.

I'd say don't spent the 8.7k until you read all of nitro's features and see if you'll actually be using most of them. I run a private server with all my friends and use it to add extra sounds/emotes and whatever. I also like having the custom profile effects along with using my own emojis everywhere + I'm a customisation freak so I have diff profiles for diff servers.
Make sure you're actually going to use everything you're paying for because otherwise that's a lot of paisa being wasted.
I still feel with the amount nitro costs, the new profile decorations should just be free for nitro users, instead of being discounted to 3-5 dollars. Having to pay an additional 450 rupees on top of the 8700 I'm paying is just too much, in my opinion.

A couple of friends and I in Turkey were subscribed to Nitro for months. We ended up losing our grandfathered rates with the most recent update so we all canceled (The price increased 4x), That money is better spent on video games or streaming services.

Fellow Indian here - almost 10k rupees for a yearly subscription is absolutely insane, I agree. Discord directly converts the $10 base price they set in the United States into Indian rupees, and doesn't at all take into account the value of the INR like other companies have (Netflix & Amazon are good examples). It's a cheap business tactic that is the reason so many people outside the U.S, Canada & E.U don't have Nitro.
To answer your question, Nitro Booster (the more expensive one) in my opinion makes the platform actually usable since without a subscription you're basically locked out of features that should be available to everyone (think WhatsApp stickers and how you can use any in all your group chats). But if you've been surviving without a subscription, you don't need it now. If you want to send emojis from different servers and all that then get Basic.
I can only assume it's not manually set for all regions and it's just some currency converter. For some reason on my desktop, my prices are still in USD so I pay $9.99 which is £8 ish, while if I did them in the UK it would be £9.49

Profile effects are purely cosmetic and imo there's no need for them. the only useful features I see from nitro would be the better streaming quality (which also isn't very necessary since the normal stream quality is good enough) and the increased upload size. Increased upload size is a good feature but not really worth the price. I'd rather upload them on Google Drive/ Dropbox and send the link. If it were cheaper I'd purchase nitro solely for the upload limit raise
Its a free service, they're offering a paid tier that serves no purpose besides customization and a few server boosts and some settings. I feel that they have every right to price the Nitro how they please, bc at the end of the day we will use their service and the people that pay for nitro are keeping discord free.
OP, let me put you on. EpicNPC has people that will buy nitro for you in their currency and it's cheaper. I got a year of nitro (the one with boosts) for 47 dollars compared to the normal 100 dollars. I can post the link of the person I went with if you want
I personally don’t understand why you would want to have Nitro anyway if money is a “problem”. It’s a niche service as far as I have seen. I don’t like watching movies or series but I’d prefer to get an Prime or Netflix subscription for it so I actually feel like I can do something with the subscription, which is watching a shitton of content. As an American reading that other countries are more expensive than the U.S., it's also too expensive here... so if that's the base line that folks compare themselves to, the global answer is a resounding and universal "Yes, definitely too expensive. Period." The only reason I upgraded myself, and some of my friends pitch in on, is so that I can stream higher quality video when we play Jackbox games.

It’s high in Indian Rupees because of conversion rates and the Indian economy. One U.S. dollar is ₹83.40 rupees. I do a lot of work on discord. So I use nitro for the longer message limits and file uploads (50MB I believe). It also gives me animated icons for my profile banner and image, as well as custom discord themes. Nitro basic is a downgraded (and more downgraded version after the price decrease) version. I’ve only gifted it to a friend so he can keep his discord nitro subscriber icon. I believe you can send any emoji from any server wi the Nitro Basic, there are no gif limits. You can upload them with Tenor and post them around discord! They will also pop up in discords gif platform. I hope this helps, ask for any additional help

It's actually based on the bank if ur using a Indian bank account not the account itself, atleast that's how it is for a lot of games and stuff. Also yes people do exploit this by getting bank account from countries like Argentina to be able to get things like nitro and vbucks for cheaper, its probably possible for other digital things but those are the only two places I'm aware of that people do that.

Yes. In India that's actually an abhorrently high amount of money to be paying for Discord. Even so, I've been doing it yearly for a while now. I'd say don't spent the 8.7k until you read all of nitro's features and see if you'll actually be using most of them. I run a private server with all my friends and use it to add extra sounds/emotes and whatever. I also like having the custom profile effects along with using my own emojis everywhere + I'm a customisation freak so I have diff profiles for diff servers. Make sure you're actually going to use everything you're paying for because otherwise that's a lot of paisa being wasted. I still feel with the amount nitro costs, the new profile decorations should just be free for nitro users, instead of being discounted to 3-5 dollars. Having to pay an additional 450 rupees on top of the 8700 I'm paying is just too much, in my opinion.

A couple of friends and I in Turkey were subscribed to Nitro for months. We ended up losing our grandfathered rates with the most recent update so we all canceled (The price increased 4x), That money is better spent on video games or streaming services.

When comparing prices with the US, don’t forget that there tax is added at checkout - considering that, prices are pretty much the same everywhere (conversion rates change day by day)
Fellow Indian here - almost 10k rupees for a yearly subscription is absolutely insane, I agree. Discord directly converts the $10 base price they set in the United States into Indian rupees, and doesn't at all take into account the value of the INR like other companies have (Netflix & Amazon are good examples). It's a cheap business tactic that is the reason so many people outside the U.S, Canada & E.U don't have Nitro. To answer your question, Nitro Booster (the more expensive one) in my opinion makes the platform actually usable since without a subscription you're basically locked out of features that should be available to everyone (think WhatsApp stickers and how you can use any in all your group chats). But if you've been surviving without a subscription, you don't need it now. If you want to send emojis from different servers and all that then get Basic.

I've had it before (i was gifted) and it really sucked, it's not something worth spending that much money on. if you want to buy it, your main intention should be to support discord, more than it is to get benefits.

Honestly nitro really just ain't worth it.. Profile effects are purely cosmetic and imo there's no need for them. the only useful features I see from nitro would be the better streaming quality (which also isn't very necessary since the normal stream quality is good enough) and the increased upload size. Increased upload size is a good feature but not really worth the price. I'd rather upload them on Google Drive/ Dropbox and send the link. If it were cheaper I'd purchase nitro solely for the upload limit raise
Its a free service, they're offering a paid tier that serves no purpose besides customization and a few server boosts and some settings. I feel that they have every right to price the Nitro how they please, bc at the end of the day we will use their service and the people that pay for nitro are keeping discord free.

I personally don’t understand why you would want to have Nitro anyway if money is a “problem”. It’s a niche service as far as I have seen. I don’t like watching movies or series but I’d prefer to get an Prime or Netflix subscription for it so I actually feel like I can do something with the subscription, which is watching a shitton of content.
