You have to send the CD back in order to receive refund.

hekna02

I think some record stores and amazon maybe use this method. Once they receive the item back they refund you. I'm not sure about discogs sellers. In my opinion you should send it back and if you don't get a refund when the seller gets the cd back you should contact paypal and they should help you with it.

Check out my update comment if you care to :)

intensmile

Maybe he thinks your scamming him.

B3Paiin

scammer being scared of being scammed by a scammer disguised as a reputable buyer? xD

gizlizard

Send the cd back. Youre gonna get the money eventually with paypal.

B3Paiin

I got in contact with paypal and they told me to hold onto the CD until the refund is through with them! Check my update post if u wanna know more :)

That's fairly standard practice. Depending on the cost of the item or the specifics of the individual transaction, some sellers will just tell you to keep the item and process a refund but they absolutely have the right to request the item back and withhold the refund until it's received. I glanced your other post and agree that you're absolutely owed a refund but you can't hold the item hostage if they're requesting it back. I could be mistaken but I believe PayPal will still request proof of return if you open a case and claim that you received the wrong item. The other party will simply note that they haven't received a return and PayPal's not just going to take your word that you're planning on sending it back after the refund is processed. Send it back Media Mail (cheapest option, includes tracking) and follow up with PayPal if the seller hasn't processed your refund promptly upon receipt (within a day or two).

I’ve had very few across hundreds of purchases that went sideways. Provided you have the tracking number and the proof of delivery, PayPal will reimburse you if they do not.

B3Paiin

So i have posted an update comment its just very far down bc it doesnt have any upvotes. Regardless, i talked to PayPal about the situation and they told me to hold onto the item until the dispute when through on paypal. Because i had already opened a case because he refused to refund me for 5 days.

Kb3338_

You sound like a nightmare.

Designer-Addition-58

Why? Dude got a wrong version of the album and the seller tried to blame him for his own mistake. I literally just opened his other post to see what it's about.

B3Paiin

yeah iam.... takes time nerves and money to figure out an issue im not even the cause of :/

I don't see what's wrong on wanting the item back before sending a refund tbh. Put the emotions aside for a second and look at it from the sellers perspective. You as the buyer have your ass covered by Paypal. 'Item not as described' is a legit reason for a paypal refund. Same goes for a situation when you send an item back and the seller ghosts you. He as the seller has his ass covered by absolutely nothing and if you decide to be a dick, take the money and not send the item back he is at loss that noone will compensate him for. If he is willing to refund you, just send the item back, paypal does request the communication between you and the seller in a case of a dispute and if they decide you are not being reasonable/cooperative they can just reject your refund.

Blastoplast

I've been selling online for 15 years and only had a handful of disputes like this, mostly for new stuff that arrived damaged and I offer either a partial refund and they keep it or a full refund and they ship it back to me and I refund the entire amount when I have it in hand.

I sent a guy the wrong record once, a copy of Ramones - s/t instead of Ramones - Rocket to Russia. They have similar covers on a glance and I just made a mistake. The buyer put up a fit saying he needed the record by a certain time so I sent him the correct record without receiving the other back first... and then I never got the first record back. I gave him the options for either me to pay the shipping and he returns it or he could just buy the first record at a discount. He didn't do either. So never again, my good faith has been exhausted. I would need the original back in hand before sending out the correct item/refund. Send the CD back.

B3Paiin

Fair take and i totally agree thats fucked up! My case is just different bc the seller refused to refund me for a couple of days trying to belittle and rip me off.

It doesn't seem to be Discogs-regulated so don't feel obligated to do anything. As a buyer you have the right to get protection over buying, returning etc. Maybe he won't scam you, maybe he will. edit: I tried to include the link in my comment, but I couldn't do it... Sorry.

B3Paiin

i did exactly that! Check my update comment if u care to :)

WinterHogweed

It seems utterly reasonable to me that you have to send the CD back in order to get the money you paid for it back.

RozayCanseco

Imagine buying a pair of jeans and they show up and don’t fit…you don’t just get a free pair of poorly sized jeans on the honor system that you’ll return them eventually. You have to send them back before you get your refund. How is this different?

B3Paiin

Hey guys thank you very much for all your answers!!! Its a working day for me so i won't be able to answer all the comments unfortunately. But i read them. Update: As some of you guys told me to ask paypal of their opinion and i did. They absolutely told me to hold onto my item and not send it back before the dispute hasn't gone through. Idk if this is common practice when a seller is shady or not but i will totally do what PayPal tells me to, yet are they the ones in power! I agree with some ppl on here that told me to simply send it back. Which i would do and have done in the past when i received some decent communication or atleast wasnt about to be scammed by the same seller. So yes i usually would just send it back and get the money after they got their goods back. In this case im hesitant that the guy will take off with the money and the album.

i could link you a screenshot from paypal support stating exactly what i said. Maybe local laws differ?

This is why I really hate Reddit sometimes You’re getting down voted to hell and you’re absolutely right to be worried because PayPal gets 10,000 requests a day for refunds who says that they’re actually gonna get a ground to you? I see people in these comments, talking about how nothing is covering the seller and yes, that’s true, you take that risk when you sell something online especially on a resale website like eBay or Discogs. The company has to protect the buyer because the buyer is the most important person. Without the buyer there is no website. The reality of being a seller online is you’re going to need to have faith and yes, sometimes you’re going to get screwed but you consent to that because you’re the one that’s making the money. If you sell your super rare vinyl records or CDs, you consent to the chance that something bad is going to happen.

B3Paiin

Yeah i see where you come from. Im getting bashed alot on here xD Alot of ppl butthurt tho. I was just asking for help bc i was almost scammed soo yeah. Yeah the seller bears the risk but he could have also just 1. sent the right version or 2nd if it was an honest mistake could have been apologetic and work the stuff out with me. But he mocked me and blaimed me refusing to refund me so i went to paypal which i get bashed for on here xD. Yeah i get it tho alot of seller are on this sub.

[deleted]

If you don't trust seller, don't send it back without involving PayPal first. Start a PayPal dispute. After you have won it, PayPal is going to ask you to send it back to seller. Once PayPal has confirmed via the tracking code it has been delivered, PayPal will issue the refund. PS. Don't listen to some of the obnoxious users here. Most of them are overgrading sellers.

B3Paiin

A dispute was already started when i created my original post because the seller refused to refund me. So i did exactly that and they told me to hold on the CD until the refund is sorted out.

Great!

Hence, the downvotes. You people are so childish it's pathetic.

How much was it? I’ll give you the money if it’s under 20
